Dry food means they also need lots of water. Lots! It is very dehydrating. I don’t think people are given enough of a warning about how dehydrating it can be. She is absolutely adorable.
wow! We're going through the exact same thing, even spoon-feeding her. We put her food in front of her and she just looks at us lol and won't touch it. Her father was totally different, he would devour and gulp down his food and will attempt to steal hers too haha. I guess the tough love approach is needed. Today we'll start not giving her treats and taking away her food after 15 minutes, until the next meal. Her own survival instincts will make her eat her kibble.

I can’t relate more! Cece used to be a super picky and slow eater so I totally get how frustrating it is! I actually find Genie’s stubborness super cute lol, I laughed when I look at her poker face when mommy put her food away. And also eating all the freeze dried pieces and left the kibbles lololol that’s what Cece used to do before too! I’m glad that Genie is fine too - got a bit worried when you said that she has a pump on her hip.
It was a really big bump, her hair was getting longer so I didn’t find out about it until last week and I freaked out, I pressed it then the next day it started bleeding. Turns out to be a big cyst and I guess I popped it😅 she just finished her meds today! And she’s pretty good on eating her food for the past couple of days so I started handing out treats again😀 and a lot more treats on the way!

I'll have to try this. Otto has gotten super picky. He wouldn't eat kibble even with toppers. So I started cooking for him but then he wouldn't even eat that some days. Now I've subscribed to a dog food delivery service and even with that he's barely eating it. The struggle is real.
Some dogs are more stubborn than others, Genie gave up in 4 days to start eating everything I gave it to her, but I know some might be longer. Just make sure they have enough water and exercise they would eventually gave up😅 and definitely no treats in between during the time. Good luck!
@@GenietheGoldendoodle Treats is the big thing. We usually walk off leash at the park in the morning and so I give him treats every time he comes when I call him. Also we do agility classes so again more treats. But I'll just have to stand firm and do no treats for a while and see how that goes. I actually took him to the vet last Sunday because I was so worried something might be wrong.
@@straightottobrooklyn3440 this no treat thing should only be during the time when you are trying to get Otto back on eating food on time. If things goes right, it may only last like 1-2 days with enough exercise. I wouldn’t worry too much if he is still eating treats, but not his food😬 that’s literally the example of a picky dog haha. But if he wouldn’t eat anything, even the treats, it’s probably time to pay vet a visit just in case it is more of a health issue.
We can relate. Was doing kibble and alternating proteins with chicken, egg, salmon. My senior dog has only been eating hamburger meat, I also need to hide his medications in it. I talked to a food rep at my pet store and they gave me a sample of “Smallbatchpets” and my dog inhaled all of it in seconds then eagerly waited for more. Dog food for the first time in 2 weeks of trying to guess what he wants to eat. 🤪 I’m relieved!
My 10lb dog is on day 5 of hunger strike (healthy no medical issues still full of energy). No treats or anything just water. He runs to the bowl then skids to a stop and lowers head suspiciously once he sees it’s just dry kibble. Then he sits and stares at me or walks away.
@@TaehunSeong. yes he finally ate but I had to put his food on a silicone lick mat. He was very cautious and slow and didn’t finish both meals the first or second day. But today he ate both meals plus kibble from Kong and from snuffle mat. He seems to go crazy for the kibbles now because I was firm in taking away his food if he didn’t finish it all or started begging at me for something else without finishing. I want to add he wasn’t drinking water on his own during the strike because he won’t unless he gets his meals first…oddly enough. I was giving him water by spoon multiple times daily until he started eating.
@@rachaelflores3810 Thanks for the update Rachel, reason I asked is because my pitbull was on a 2 day strike, but he finally gave in yesterday. I think taking him on a hike and on a run with me these days got him dead tired and helped a lot. Now he's eating like a pig 🤣
We gave up after 2 days. This situation is so frustrating. We hand feed our Maltipoo and give him multiple options everyday till finally he eats something.
It worked!!! I tried this before but incorrectly. I used to leave the food for an hour before removing it. This 3 minute rule worked great. My dog is fixed after two months of trying all sorts of foods and ways to make her eat.

My dog is picky and butthead. She wants treats and refuses to eat regular foods. I have found a way to force my dog eat regular food. When she wants to go outside I would take her and she expects her treats. When she is done, I take her back inside. I place her unfinished meal instead of treats. She would test me again and again hoping to get treats and still refusing her unfinished meal. I would take her outside as many times as she wants and I would still place her unfinished meal till she has to eat it yes till she has to be so hungry. Trust me it’s worked. Till she ate it all and I would give her some treats. You need to be strict be strong don’t let dog train you.
My dog are like this. Even when I mixed wet food she used to eat just the wet food and leave the kibble. How I fixed that is I soaked the kibble in water and after the kibble got soft, I mashed it and then mixed wet food in it. Now that the whole kibble is wet food flavored, she eats the whole thing
my pomeranian is little miss picky but shes also a stingy and selfish little girl. so when she wont eat all i have to do is start vacuuming the floor and she runs and gobbles all her food cuz she dont want the vacuum to get her food even though she didnt want ti in the first place. its the funniest thing to see and works 100% every time

@@j.w.1619 It actually worked in making him eat more but he still didn't finish all his food. I actually found out it was because he was just too lazy to use a slow food bowl, so switching back to a regular bowl made him eat everything again 😅

Maybe I sound harsh but I’m persistent and at some point they get hungry and eat. I know. It’s not comfortable but I did it before and problem solved itself in max 3 days.
I was having this trouble with my dog I reduced he was a stray I was giving him kibble and can to put some weight on him then switched to a better quality dog food so he could get all his nutrients he ate it at first but stopped so I went back to the old stuff he was eating it and stopped so I switched back again and was having problems getting him to eat add water eggs rice to his food and nothing so I stop giving in on him I heated up his food in the oven seems to be working now
My dog stopped eating his kibble, don’t think he could be bothered chewing it anymore, I put it in a blender now with warm water and blend it to a paste which gives it more flavour and digests easier. I throw in a few bits of ready cooked chicken on top and he wolfs the lot
My German shepherd does the same thing, I also used to give him toppings on the food but he used to just eat the chicken toppings or broth and leave the kibble . Been following the same strict schedule with him and giving him soaked kibble since he likes it that way , I give him a treat when he finishes his food properly. I think you are doing exactly right by not giving him any treats on the day when he doesn’t finish his food properly. I would also always follow the schedule and take the food away on time. This is more so to prep them into a habit that they will only get food at meal time so they will eat anything that put in front of them. My dog is actually mostly on freeze dried food now, but on occasions when I put kibbles with toppers in front of her, she would still be eating them (I also found out she likes them soaked with warm water or bone broth as well) Is toppers necessary? I don’t think so, they can certainly survive on kibbles alone without any treats or toppers but I like to spoil my pup :)
@@GenietheGoldendoodle well thanks for your advice. Yeah I also spoiled him by giving varies toppers but it backfired on me 😂so avoiding them now. My dog also likes kibble in soaked water only , plus I've read it somewhere that it's much better for their gut health too if given soaked.
This lady and her dog are exactly the same as me. The same problem of picky eating or wont eat. My dog can go for 5 days without eating. He is 16 years old with Arthritis he takes Rimadyl and Yu move tablets which are very good. Vet said it's a physiological not physical problem. This problem has only started since we moved house 12 months ago. He still loves his walks and socializing.
My miniature poodle refuses kibble. I’m going to have to do that, but I want to make sure she likes her kibble. She’s so fussy and would have definitely spit out the pill.
Thanks for posting this. My Havanese is the same way your dog was. We tried this method before, but we failed at withholding snacks when he’d beg us with his body language / eyes and then we cracked and gave in during Day 2 and started feeding him what he liked. This video has reinvigorated us to try again but with better self-discipline.
My dog is soo picky, shes a toy poodle, poodles are known to be picky eaters but i didn't know its this bad, my girl usually doesn't even like dog treats, i use the way you show in the video and it usually works when shes refusing, eventually shes hungry enough. She also eats better when theres competition, like if my parents dog is around.

My half grown puppy does this, unless there is another dog in the house. Then she will gobble up anything to prevent the canine visitor from getting it.

Throw a little chicken sweet potatoes /mine loves sweet potatoes/ non sugar. Pumpkin if they like it. Rice, Turkey, beef. Also boiled hamburger. I save some when making dinner. Boiling it. Sometimes they have belly aches. Or something else is going on.
My 10 month old doodle does this too. He'll go on a hunger strike until he vomits, then he'll eat. Im scared this vomiting will not be good for him so i tend to give him what he wants, which is human food ☹️ should i be strict and leave him be until he gets used to eating his own food?
My Boston Terrier does this all the time. I've stopped worrying about it. He'll eat when he gets hungy and sometimes it takes 2 to 3 days before he'll finally eat. I only give him dry now so that nothing rots and I can leave it out for days until he eats it.
Video is very helpful. My pitbull is a picky eater. I made the mistake to spoil him with chicken heads , chicken meat everyday, now he doesn't want to eat his kibble. I wanted to get him back on his kibble but his hunger strike won everytime and i found myself feeding him meat again. But now this method will surely work , i'm looking foward to it
My dog was the same way until one day my sister turned around and told me get some frozen blueberries to frost only about 10? Mix them in the dry food and just introduce it to the dog. Well lo and behold that worked my dog ate everything I guess maybe the smell and the taste of the blueberries somehow disguised the smell of the dry food
My dog won’t eat. I try to put a little cheese on it and sometimes she will eat it. I don't want to keep doing that. Sometimes, she will eat it if Hamburg is on it. But not all the time. I would do what you do and take it away, but she pukes if she doesn't eat.
Your picky poochie is much smarter than you think! Dogs may not be able to speak our language but their body language is clearly saying what they can't, "This food tastes bland. It barely gives me enough nutrition to continue living. Please understand me! Please feed me "real" food."
Hi, thanks for your comment! If you check out my later videos, you’ll see that Genie has been on non-kibble diet for almost 4 years now. I am all for feeding healthy food for your dogs! However, I’m still glad this video is helping people with their picky dogs because the approach remains the same when they just refuse to eat, regardless what kind of diet they are on. Let’s be honest, fresh food and freeze dried food are expensive, and I don’t trust 99% of the people who make raw food at home, it is probably worse than commercial kibbles. Majority of pet owners are still feeding their pups some kind of kibbles.

I'm going thru the same thing, I'm now mixing wet food with her kibble but she's spitting the kibble out. I've stopped giving her treats . I guess I'll try to moisten her kibble before adding wet food to see if that works
I having such a hard time with my 9 month puppy when he goes without eating he will start vomiting his bile that’s when I get nervous and force down his throat I hurts me to do this but I’ve tried 7 different types of food including homemade even organic food and nothing . And I know it’s just him being picky cause once in a while he eats on his own for the most part if he likes the food he wants me to hand feed him . My 7 month old labradoodle is doing the same thing. I tried switching her food to farmers dog and she doesn't like that either. She went back to eating kibble before she would eat that, but it's still hit or miss. I'm doing the same things as you, holding back everything, but it's hard when we goto puppy class and those are treat heavy days as well as when I'm trying to reinforce what we learn at class at home. I had no idea that doodles could be so picky. She will eventually eat when she's hungry enough. I used the stella and chewy rabbit patties to crumble like you as well, but again it's hit and miss.
I have to do this because my dog will only eat boiled chicken! I put that as a topper in all my dogs dry food but yeka is the one that won’t eat it she started being picky yesterday 😑
My dogs are like this. I keep saying NO YOU WONT EAT ANY OTHER FOOD!! but after a moment ill give in, ill be panicking and giving them tasty food. But this time ill be consistent and firm (hopefully) 😂
It's better not to give him any treats or dried food that pallatable if you want them to eat their kibbles. You really have to give him tough love and be strict with kibbles only or else it wont work
I have a picky poodle. I usually give her what's on the dinner table. I take meat and mix in grains, veggies, (sometimes even a lil fruit) and she prefers it over dog food. I've had her for over a year already 🙂 Not all human food is for dog consumption though. I avoid onions, garlic, grapes, etc, for example. I do give her things like ham sometimes. There is not enough onion and garlic powder in ham to hurt her. I give her human food almost everyday. When i don't and she's stuck with dog food, I take the dog food outside and show her I'll give it to the neighbors dogs if she doesn't eat it... so then she eats it.
@@beautiful20106 I've had s cat for 13 years who is healthy. We also feed her food right off the dinner table. She's had alot of ham in her lifetime and she's fine. Food like ham isn't as bad as the internet says it is. The internet can really make u paraniod. And I've never noticed ham causing any unhealthy side effects when it comes to my poodle either. Although plain meat with no spices like chicken is healthier for them then ham will ever be since it contains no spices, perservatives, etc. And u know what! My dog has consumed onions, garlic, & grapes, before as well! And nothing happened! She did not get sick at all! So trust me it's as bad as the internet says it is. By the way I know garlic, onion, grapes, is bad for dogs & do not give it to her anymore 🙃 I just didn't know at the time that it was bad for them. But she's a healthy energetic poodle with no health issues.

Hi, you can get a variety of freeze dried food and treats in independent pet stores locally, chewy and amazon also carry some brands but not all. Some freeze dried brands I really like are: Vital Essentials, Open Farm, Dr.Marty’s, Primal, Woof, etc. The quail treats were from Korea and it was bit harder to get, but you can find similar treats from the brand Freeze Dry Australia, where they also have quail necks, and other exotic treats for dogs! As for the kibbles, tbh I have been feeding Genie non-kibble diet for a while now if you check out my later videos, but back then I try to get the best brands, which imo was Orijen, open farm, Acana and Fromm.
This was super helpful! I’m on day 4 pup (11 year old Japanese Akita - super stubborn) held out for a day and a half and ate her food and then held out for another day and a half before eating again. Did yours also do this at first as you were working through this strategy or did it start eating every meal immediately following the first feed after hunger strike?
Genie would still occasionally skip her meals after it worked first, I just do the same and take her food away and she would start eating the next meal. This phase lasted about a year (skipping meals randomly but usually doesn’t last over a day), now she is very good about eating her food as soon as I put it down
What is this video summary? I don’t get it. You dog finally eat at 4th day. What’s the conclusion? It’s because you remove the food when he didn’t eat or the adding of that rabbit topping? Because if the dog finally eat after 4th day, it’s bec he’s hungry, the next day he might not eat again. That’s not the successful outcome I think. If after the 5th day he always want to eat with the same kibble & that rabbit topping, that’s we can say the solution of how to make the dog want to eat.
I am going to the same thing now , i have 2 dog , one bigger is past 4 months ago and my little brownie is lonely does not want to eat , i trying to change better brand dog food and i was worry about it make home food mixed into some dry kibble food , but he refused to it . Went to petco work there say give dry food . I change dog food to Taste of Wild now and he is still refused to eat , he hated blue buffalo puppy food . As far if i add a Little chicken breast meat , stew he will eat some food , but still not want to eat .
Just rescued a 10 month old Chihuahua pup who was only fed human food. Day 5 of him refusing to eat kibble. I've managed to get him to eat maybe a handful of raw coated Stella and chewy. He doesn't eat treats either. He has been to vet for a wellness check and he's just picky
oof this is a tough one, stubborn little guy. If he eats the raw coated Stella and chewy I would continue offer him that. Have you also tried adding warm water and mix with the kibbles? Some dogs prefer it that way.

I think this is a poodle thing with every poodle I meet. Mine is still a puppy only 6 months old and it sucks Bc I don’t wanna have to not feed him for days to get him to eat :( will it stunt his growth?
Try to make some homemade food for your dog. I've found great recipes on youtube. I mix it with kibble and water. It adds more nutrients and moisture to their meal. Fresh is always best.
You can try giving him/her a small treat before bed to prevent the throwing up of bile(like a greenie). As long as it’s not enough to keep her full, she’ll eventually come to eat her food
Bil Jac has food you can get that is very easy to chew. You can break it with your finger. I set some out and when they don’t want their soft food they will eat on it
My dogs the same way she's just picky with her food I have to rely on chopped ground food with water in it. She refused to eat dry stuff. She's just picky I guess.

This is me. The is a real struggle with a dog with a big personality. They will try to wait you out. I have to be consistent, thanks for this.

@@TaehunSeong. yes he finally ate but I had to put his food on a silicone lick mat. He was very cautious and slow and didn’t finish both meals the first or second day. But today he ate both meals plus kibble from Kong and from snuffle mat. He seems to go crazy for the kibbles now because I was firm in taking away his food if he didn’t finish it all or started begging at me for something else without finishing.
I want to add he wasn’t drinking water on his own during the strike because he won’t unless he gets his meals first…oddly enough. I was giving him water by spoon multiple times daily until he started eating.
@@rachaelflores3810 Thanks for the update Rachel, reason I asked is because my pitbull was on a 2 day strike, but he finally gave in yesterday. I think taking him on a hike and on a run with me these days got him dead tired and helped a lot. Now he's eating like a pig 🤣
We gave up after 2 days. This situation is so frustrating. We hand feed our Maltipoo and give him multiple options everyday till finally he eats something.
It worked!!! I tried this before but incorrectly. I used to leave the food for an hour before removing it. This 3 minute rule worked great. My dog is fixed after two months of trying all sorts of foods and ways to make her eat.

My dog is picky and butthead. She wants treats and refuses to eat regular foods. I have found a way to force my dog eat regular food. When she wants to go outside I would take her and she expects her treats. When she is done, I take her back inside. I place her unfinished meal instead of treats. She would test me again and again hoping to get treats and still refusing her unfinished meal. I would take her outside as many times as she wants and I would still place her unfinished meal till she has to eat it yes till she has to be so hungry. Trust me it’s worked. Till she ate it all and I would give her some treats. You need to be strict be strong don’t let dog train you.
My dog are like this. Even when I mixed wet food she used to eat just the wet food and leave the kibble. How I fixed that is I soaked the kibble in water and after the kibble got soft, I mashed it and then mixed wet food in it. Now that the whole kibble is wet food flavored, she eats the whole thing
That’s another way to fix it, lots of extra work but if it works for your pup it works!
my pomeranian is little miss picky but shes also a stingy and selfish little girl. so when she wont eat all i have to do is start vacuuming the floor and she runs and gobbles all her food cuz she dont want the vacuum to get her food even though she didnt want ti in the first place. its the funniest thing to see and works 100% every time

Did it work? I’m in the same boat of adding raw, canned, meat, just to have mine turn his nose up at it after a few meals each!
@@j.w.1619 It actually worked in making him eat more but he still didn't finish all his food. I actually found out it was because he was just too lazy to use a slow food bowl, so switching back to a regular bowl made him eat everything again 😅

My puppy only wants the chicken flavored wet food from the Vet that is urgent care. Everything else… he gives me that look - he is a goldendoodle
Maybe I sound harsh but I’m persistent and at some point they get hungry and eat. I know. It’s not comfortable but I did it before and problem solved itself in max 3 days.
I was having this trouble with my dog I reduced he was a stray I was giving him kibble and can to put some weight on him then switched to a better quality dog food so he could get all his nutrients he ate it at first but stopped so I went back to the old stuff he was eating it and stopped so I switched back again and was having problems getting him to eat add water eggs rice to his food and nothing so I stop giving in on him I heated up his food in the oven seems to be working now
My dog stopped eating his kibble, don’t think he could be bothered chewing it anymore, I put it in a blender now with warm water and blend it to a paste which gives it more flavour and digests easier. I throw in a few bits of ready cooked chicken on top and he wolfs the lot

My German shepherd does the same thing, I also used to give him toppings on the food but he used to just eat the chicken toppings or broth and leave the kibble .
Been following the same strict schedule with him and giving him soaked kibble since he likes it that way , I give him a treat when he finishes his food properly.

I think you are doing exactly right by not giving him any treats on the day when he doesn’t finish his food properly. I would also always follow the schedule and take the food away on time. This is more so to prep them into a habit that they will only get food at meal time so they will eat anything that put in front of them.
My dog is actually mostly on freeze dried food now, but on occasions when I put kibbles with toppers in front of her, she would still be eating them (I also found out she likes them soaked with warm water or bone broth as well)
Is toppers necessary? I don’t think so, they can certainly survive on kibbles alone without any treats or toppers but I like to spoil my pup :)

My dog also likes kibble in soaked water only , plus I've read it somewhere that it's much better for their gut health too if given soaked.

My dog can go for 5 days without eating.
He is 16 years old with Arthritis he takes Rimadyl and Yu move tablets which are very good.
Vet said it's a physiological not physical problem.
This problem has only started since we moved house 12 months ago.
He still loves his walks and socializing.
My miniature poodle refuses kibble. I’m going to have to do that, but I want to make sure she likes her kibble. She’s so fussy and would have definitely spit out the pill.
Thanks for posting this. My Havanese is the same way your dog was. We tried this method before, but we failed at withholding snacks when he’d beg us with his body language / eyes and then we cracked and gave in during Day 2 and started feeding him what he liked. This video has reinvigorated us to try again but with better self-discipline.

My dog is soo picky, shes a toy poodle, poodles are known to be picky eaters but i didn't know its this bad, my girl usually doesn't even like dog treats, i use the way you show in the video and it usually works when shes refusing, eventually shes hungry enough. She also eats better when theres competition, like if my parents dog is around.

My half grown puppy does this, unless there is another dog in the house. Then she will gobble up anything to prevent the canine visitor from getting it.
My shih tzu does the same thing. He was a picky eater but would still eat . My roommates would feed him human food so it made it worse .

Throw a little chicken sweet potatoes /mine loves sweet potatoes/ non sugar. Pumpkin if they like it. Rice, Turkey, beef. Also boiled hamburger. I save some when making dinner. Boiling it. Sometimes they have belly aches. Or something else is going on.

My 10 month old doodle does this too. He'll go on a hunger strike until he vomits, then he'll eat. Im scared this vomiting will not be good for him so i tend to give him what he wants, which is human food ☹️ should i be strict and leave him be until he gets used to eating his own food?
My Boston Terrier does this all the time. I've stopped worrying about it. He'll eat when he gets hungy and sometimes it takes 2 to 3 days before he'll finally eat. I only give him dry now so that nothing rots and I can leave it out for days until he eats it.
Exactly that’s what I say about my Rottweiler when his azz get hungry enough he’ll eat you can lead a horse to water but can’t make him drink

My dog was the same way until one day my sister turned around and told me get some frozen blueberries to frost only about 10? Mix them in the dry food and just introduce it to the dog. Well lo and behold that worked my dog ate everything I guess maybe the smell and the taste of the blueberries somehow disguised the smell of the dry food
My dog won’t eat. I try to put a little cheese on it and sometimes she will eat it. I don't want to keep doing that. Sometimes, she will eat it if Hamburg is on it. But not all the time. I would do what you do and take it away, but she pukes if she doesn't eat.

Your picky poochie is much smarter than you think! Dogs may not be able to speak our language but their body language is clearly saying what they can't, "This food tastes bland. It barely gives me enough nutrition to continue living. Please understand me! Please feed me "real" food."
Hi, thanks for your comment! If you check out my later videos, you’ll see that Genie has been on non-kibble diet for almost 4 years now. I am all for feeding healthy food for your dogs!
However, I’m still glad this video is helping people with their picky dogs because the approach remains the same when they just refuse to eat, regardless what kind of diet they are on. Let’s be honest, fresh food and freeze dried food are expensive, and I don’t trust 99% of the people who make raw food at home, it is probably worse than commercial kibbles. Majority of pet owners are still feeding their pups some kind of kibbles.

I'm going thru the same thing, I'm now mixing wet food with her kibble but she's spitting the kibble out. I've stopped giving her treats . I guess I'll try to moisten her kibble before adding wet food to see if that works
I having such a hard time with my 9 month puppy when he goes without eating he will start vomiting his bile that’s when I get nervous and force down his throat I hurts me to do this but I’ve tried 7 different types of food including homemade even organic food and nothing . And I know it’s just him being picky cause once in a while he eats on his own for the most part if he likes the food he wants me to hand feed him . My 7 month old labradoodle is doing the same thing. I tried switching her food to farmers dog and she doesn't like that either. She went back to eating kibble before she would eat that, but it's still hit or miss. I'm doing the same things as you, holding back everything, but it's hard when we goto puppy class and those are treat heavy days as well as when I'm trying to reinforce what we learn at class at home. I had no idea that doodles could be so picky. She will eventually eat when she's hungry enough. I used the stella and chewy rabbit patties to crumble like you as well, but again it's hit and miss.

That size of dog should be having 2 cups of dry food in the morning and 2 cups of dry food at night.
I have to do this because my dog will only eat boiled chicken! I put that as a topper in all my dogs dry food but yeka is the one that won’t eat it she started being picky yesterday 😑

My dogs are like this. I keep saying NO YOU WONT EAT ANY OTHER FOOD!! but after a moment ill give in, ill be panicking and giving them tasty food. But this time ill be consistent and firm (hopefully) 😂
It's better not to give him any treats or dried food that pallatable if you want them to eat their kibbles. You really have to give him tough love and be strict with kibbles only or else it wont work
I have a picky poodle. I usually give her what's on the dinner table. I take meat and mix in grains, veggies, (sometimes even a lil fruit) and she prefers it over dog food. I've had her for over a year already 🙂 Not all human food is for dog consumption though. I avoid onions, garlic, grapes, etc, for example. I do give her things like ham sometimes. There is not enough onion and garlic powder in ham to hurt her. I give her human food almost everyday. When i don't and she's stuck with dog food, I take the dog food outside and show her I'll give it to the neighbors dogs if she doesn't eat it... so then she eats it.

@@beautiful20106 I've had s cat for 13 years who is healthy. We also feed her food right off the dinner table. She's had alot of ham in her lifetime and she's fine. Food like ham isn't as bad as the internet says it is. The internet can really make u paraniod. And I've never noticed ham causing any unhealthy side effects when it comes to my poodle either. Although plain meat with no spices like chicken is healthier for them then ham will ever be since it contains no spices, perservatives, etc.
And u know what! My dog has consumed onions, garlic, & grapes, before as well! And nothing happened! She did not get sick at all! So trust me it's as bad as the internet says it is. By the way I know garlic, onion, grapes, is bad for dogs & do not give it to her anymore 🙃 I just didn't know at the time that it was bad for them. But she's a healthy energetic poodle with no health issues.

Hi, you can get a variety of freeze dried food and treats in independent pet stores locally, chewy and amazon also carry some brands but not all. Some freeze dried brands I really like are: Vital Essentials, Open Farm, Dr.Marty’s, Primal, Woof, etc. The quail treats were from Korea and it was bit harder to get, but you can find similar treats from the brand Freeze Dry Australia, where they also have quail necks, and other exotic treats for dogs!
As for the kibbles, tbh I have been feeding Genie non-kibble diet for a while now if you check out my later videos, but back then I try to get the best brands, which imo was Orijen, open farm, Acana and Fromm.

This was super helpful! I’m on day 4 pup (11 year old Japanese Akita - super stubborn) held out for a day and a half and ate her food and then held out for another day and a half before eating again. Did yours also do this at first as you were working through this strategy or did it start eating every meal immediately following the first feed after hunger strike?
Genie would still occasionally skip her meals after it worked first, I just do the same and take her food away and she would start eating the next meal. This phase lasted about a year (skipping meals randomly but usually doesn’t last over a day), now she is very good about eating her food as soon as I put it down

What is this video summary? I don’t get it. You dog finally eat at 4th day. What’s the conclusion? It’s because you remove the food when he didn’t eat or the adding of that rabbit topping? Because if the dog finally eat after 4th day, it’s bec he’s hungry, the next day he might not eat again. That’s not the successful outcome I think. If after the 5th day he always want to eat with the same kibble & that rabbit topping, that’s we can say the solution of how to make the dog want to eat.
I am going to the same thing now , i have 2 dog , one bigger is past 4 months ago and my little brownie is lonely does not want to eat , i trying to change better brand dog food and i was worry about it make home food mixed into some dry kibble food , but he refused to it . Went to petco work there say give dry food . I change dog food to Taste of Wild now and he is still refused to eat , he hated blue buffalo puppy food . As far if i add a Little chicken breast meat , stew he will eat some food , but still not want to eat .

Just rescued a 10 month old Chihuahua pup who was only fed human food. Day 5 of him refusing to eat kibble. I've managed to get him to eat maybe a handful of raw coated Stella and chewy. He doesn't eat treats either. He has been to vet for a wellness check and he's just picky
oof this is a tough one, stubborn little guy. If he eats the raw coated Stella and chewy I would continue offer him that. Have you also tried adding warm water and mix with the kibbles? Some dogs prefer it that way.

Try to make some homemade food for your dog. I've found great recipes on youtube. I mix it with kibble and water. It adds more nutrients and moisture to their meal. Fresh is always best.

You can try giving him/her a small treat before bed to prevent the throwing up of bile(like a greenie). As long as it’s not enough to keep her full, she’ll eventually come to eat her food

Bil Jac has food you can get that is very easy to chew. You can break it with your finger. I set some out and when they don’t want their soft food they will eat on it

My dogs the same way she's just picky with her food I have to rely on chopped ground food with water in it. She refused to eat dry stuff. She's just picky I guess.
