I've had the flip 3 & flip 4 & looking forward to getting my Flip 5 in a couple of weeks. As an average mobile phone user I find the charging speed is just fine & seriously, the picture quality for me anyway is perfect. I dont spend hours comparing the pictures with other phones for different shades of colours etc. The flip 5 has recieved the upgrades necessary to now make it the perfect compact phone for me..Well done Samsung.👍
The decision is tough this year. I've used a Fold 2 as my daily for almost 3 years, and I absolutely love it. The jump to the Fold 5 would be fantastic, especially with that slim S-Pen. But the Flip 5 looks so fun to use with that big cover screen and wider main screen. Even though I'm used to the narrow front screen of the Fold 2, I do miss the more "normal" aspect ratios. Also hard to ignore that they haven't upgrade the cameras on either since the 3.
@qlovox this thing was a beast. Had some issues, like sand getting inside the hinge, but that was my fault. I've constantly dealt with air bubbles under the pre-installed screen protector for over a year, but that wasn't a huge issue to the point where I didn't want another Fold. It was a great experience overall and I'm looking forward to a more refined experience.
i am thinking of getting the flip 5 too but im afraid that it will not be durable enough . can you tell me about your experience with flip 2 ? did you find it durable ? did the oled screen burned after continuous use ? do opening and closing the phone a lot damages the screen inside ?
I am going from the flip 3 to fold 5 so massive difference for me. No point buying it every year just wait for a couple of releases then u see a benefit
I can see the various reasons for why your channel is bigger than others. One of which is you actually review the products more than just showcase or 'sell' them. Further, you actually compared the Fold 5 against the Honor Magic V2. Many channels just do standalone reviews, which are not that useful for consumers. Looking forward to your Samsung G9 OLED review, hopefully with a comparison with the LG 45" UltraGear OLED!
I ordered the Z Fold 5 and I got it today. I'm so excited and I love it already. I personally like the narrow screen. It makes one-handed use a lot easier. The big screen is amazing, too. I don't notice the crease when using it.
I just preorded the fold 5 yesterday. Ive had the galaxy phones for years but ive really wanted the fold and with trading in my s21 ultra they are giving me $800 off so its more reasonable to buy than with the almost $2k price tag.
Flip 5 is simply cute, preordered it. In my country they give you Ear Buds 2 for free too so tbh maybe it's bit on more expensive side but with all promos it was worth it.
Z Flip 5 is so stylish, I believe lots of people will buy it more than Z Fold 5😍 😎 but the only weakness is poor battery 🔋😢 why doesn't Samsung bring 5000 mAh for these devices
Two different phones two different people if you want to watch TH-cam and movies on the go the folding phone is your future but if small and compact fits your needs then go flip lol I want a folding phone after buying a deal on flip 4 lovely phone but I want a bigger display so Ile get the fold after a month of it being out to solve any issues
Not really impressed with their upgrades this year but I have a Z flip 4 and it's hard to say no when I only have to pay $50 after trade in, plus an extra $50 credit that I spent for the Smart UX case 😬
Understandable but hey you could pay $50 and have a much bigger cover screen and a thinner phone. If it was full price going from the 4, I'd say no but I think it's worth it. I have a flip 3 and wanted to get the fold 5 but I think I'll wind up getting the flip 5 and hold out for the fold 6 or 7
Once you have a flip style phone, it's very hard to go back to a slab phone. I was without my Flip 3 for a couple of days just recently and had to use a slab phone temporarily. I couldn't wait to switch back as soon as I could... Tossing up whether I should upgrade even though I have no issues with my current phone now hehe
@@dashogunz 1. It's really quite comfortable in my pockets due to the smaller footprint. 2. My screen is always protected when my phone is closed and sitting in my bag or pocket. 3. I enjoy proping it up and reading or video calling while my hands are busy doing other things like eating or typing. 4. It just feels great to fidget with closing and opening the phone when I need to use it. 5. It's a ;pt strpnger than you think. I've dropped and beat my phone up, and have never had a cracked screen or glass panel// I do have to mention though if you love scrolling and consuming media with your phone, a flip isn't for you. The battery really isn't great. The camera's aren't the best in class either. But for my personal needs and expectations (how I use my phone daily), it's absolutely perfect.
This is why the Pixel fold release was so important. Samsung owns the foldable market right now and the pixel fold represents actually competition in the US. Samsung has become like Apple. Releasing phones with essentially no upgrades. They need to be pushed to do more and the pixel fold release is going to do just that
The crease is different, i went to at&t yesterday and compared it to the fold 4. There's a significant difference in the creases. Everyone who pre-ordered the phone will realize that when they get the phone.
@ericxplosion08 it's not as noticeable as it was on the fold 4. The fold 4 crease is a little wider and a little deeper. The z fold 5's crease is there but it's a little more shallower. It looks more like a faded straight line. I feel like people who are not youtubers that pre-ordered the fold 5 will notice that difference. And no not all youtubers are making a big deal of the crease. It's not an issue, but from a good portion of the people I follow, they tell you in their videos their's a difference with the crease. It's not a huge difference, but you will be able to tell.

Me too, fingers crossed,but shouldn't you wait until it is coming before checking the detail. As someone who used to use Samsung's TouchWiz which was HATED. It was still ultimately Android at the end of the day. It won't be so bad it would put me off and especially when you've always got the Launcher option. I'd say it was Safe. Chinese yes but nothing to do with Huawei. Although my brother has a Huawei laptop recommended by me so I think they're fine too.
Yeah the V2 is the design to beat for a full size foldable. Don't think there's a firm UK or Europe release date as yet but maybe we'll know more after IFA in early Sept.
I am not really impressed with the upgrades. I know that the form factor has its limitations, but still. Just a better processor and a slight improvemnt in the camera department. The Flip 5 is the interesting one with the outer screen which is a big improvement from last year, but Motorola has executed it much better in my opinion. This being Samsung, means it will sell well. Looks good, but kind of dissapointed.
All time IPhone user here (moonlighting an s9 work phone.) I’ve decided to preorder the ZFold5. I’ve been to Best Buy a few times and played with the 4, and love it. Multitasking, Dex, and the whole aspect ratio for one handed use. The pixel is nice, but far too wide for my pockets, and gaming on it is abysmal.

@@flowfactoryinc07 As an all time iCloud user, I’ll have to transfer somewhere around 20GB of photos to another medium, but google offers cloud storage (through phones plans as an add-on and separately) and there are a ton of other seamless cloud storage apps that work with Samsung phones. Instead of FaceTime I’ll use Fb video, Instagram video, Snapchat video, etc. I probably FaceTime 4-5 times a week now. IMessage is nice because you can always text over WiFi & I work in an area with no cell service. I’m planning on using the WeChat workaround to receive iMessages for my current apple buddies.

Yes, there will be some pushing Samsung products, but these are not anything other than iterative upgrades, or catching up. The latter is catching up with removing the gaps and having a more useful front display on Flip 5. Other than that the usual chip update and in the UK, the inexplicable price rise!
No, thank you, but NO! My 2 years old S22 Ultra have more than twice better camera, more RAM and bigger battery than this NEW Fold 5. 108MP vs 50MP, 5000mAh vs 4400mAh. 16GB RAM vs 12GB RAM. It is a no brainer if I have ANY incentives to "Upgrade". Upgrading from S22 Ultra will be a straightforward DOWNGRADE. Samasung?! Wake up and smell the coffee or else!

Well my flip5 makes about 5hrs /6 hrs on screen depending if i use more the smaller screen it can be 6.5 hrs... Also if you turn the standar 60hz you must end the day easly.
Flip 5 offers more practicality, especially when you have to shoot videos. While it's easy to carry and fits so well in the pocket. This is the best phone I have used in years.
I am a long term Samsung Fan and User. And by long time I mean loooong time. I have to admit. Even tho Samsung started all this "foldable" trend they are far behind. They promised us so much technology with all that screen technology but can't manage to take steps forward. No intergrated spen still a crease extreme fat and bulky phone's woth less battery capacity etc. It's really frustrating. The whole brand is losing their integrity. Focusing on sales and not on the customers... At this point I have to say brands like honor are overtaking in high-speed because they listen to their audience. I will quit Samsung. After almost 2 decades as a fan. That is truly sad to say.
Great review Tom thanks. I do think despite progress these flip smart phones still feel like an experimental project. It’s that crease in the middle I think. It will take another 5 years or so for them to get to the Tony Stark level. Would be great if Apple entered the game as that would create more competition and innovation. Will get there but not yet!
Zero crease,a wider front screen,better battery life,Thinner bezels,space for s pen built into the device and for 1800$ at least a fast charging brick for crying out loud.

Hmm, your video is the first video where I've noticed the Fold5's speaker grille is a bit smaller than the Fold4's. So, thank you for that camera angle/ comparison. Could you please compare speakers of the Fold5 and Fold4 in your full review if possible?
Wrong..the crease is less noticeable on z fold5 compared to the z fold4.. I put my hands on z fold 5 at my local Bestbuy yesterday and it is Lighter in weight and the screen gets brighter and the crease was DEFINITELY LESS NOTICEABLE, U can almost not see it or feel it... and could not see or tell the inner screen protector was there... this is compared to the z fold4.. I'm actually impressed about the crease being less noticeable..😮😁👍WOW.. the s pen and the case is also nice and light and flat/thin..

I really like the idea of having a flip phone in 2023, but I'll stay with the s series phone until samsung gives us an almost normal aspect ratio. Same with the fold.
I need to upgrade my sn8 and every time i wait till something catches my eye. My sn8 is dinosaur but still working fine except keyboard now sticks. So y'all do not help with showing 2 phone's. What phone is best on market and will last as well as my sn8 with great battery life? And i don't like iPhones. Thank's
Commented this on Mr Mobiles first look, as im pretty disappointed with these phones: You know who really dropped the ball this year? Apple not dropping a foldable based off the Samsung fold 5 rumours. Knowing that there was gonna be basically no change, and guessing the justified sales drop that *should* come with that, apple could have really snuck in this year and dropped a foldable to steal a huge amount of market share. But i guess they are still a couple of years away..
I think the upgrades are so small unless your coming from a non foldable then don't waste your time or money its just not worth the upgrade as in reality you struggle to really say its an upgrade!
Well, samsung no longer has advantage in flexible phones except reliability.. Upgrade is good but there was no innovative difference which has to be the point.

@@sherilyons1538that just isn't true. The fold is heavier than the 14 Pro Max. The fold 5 (which is lighter than the 4) is even heavier than the iphone 14 pro max. The weight does not bother me. I only dislike the format, long, narrow, and thick feels weird in the pocket.

The point I was trying to make is there's no real difference in the weight of these two devices. If you can put an iPhone 14 Pro Max with a case in your pocket, then you can put a fold in your pocket.
I feel like Samsung has asked for these reviews, everyone praising one of the most disappointing devices. The Flip 5 can't even run full apps on the outer display. That's a massive dealbreaker compared to RAZR 40 Ultra

Why must you use every app on the outer display, I mean the screen was created for tasks that are not time consuming, and I like this direction that samsung is going for they are sort of evaluating their current capabilities so that they know how to improve...
I don't want Samsung's durable glasses. I cannot use my S23 Ultra without the screen protector as I can do with my other phones. If you are not careful even your finger nail can scratch it.

Flips definitely have their fans - and I get it. Flip5 should be a decent upgrade for that big cover screen.

my flip4 dies within 4 hrs tops usually 3.5 hrs, i want the flip5 but the battery barely being improved is the major issue

I don't get it either. But I have my old S20 when I need Dex. But I did upgrade my Z Flip 4 because of the insane upgrade trade in.
Once the fold gets a wider front screen, better cameras and battery ill get it.

Well my flip5 makes about 5hrs /6 hrs on screen depending if i use more the smaller screen it can be 6.5 hrs...
Also if you turn the standar 60hz you must end the day easly.

Flip 5 offers more practicality, especially when you have to shoot videos. While it's easy to carry and fits so well in the pocket. This is the best phone I have used in years.

Take an inch off the top, and use some of that to widen it ... and use that widening to add a pen ... i'd consider buying

I am a long term Samsung Fan and User. And by long time I mean loooong time.
I have to admit. Even tho Samsung started all this "foldable" trend they are far behind. They promised us so much technology with all that screen technology but can't manage to take steps forward. No intergrated spen still a crease extreme fat and bulky phone's woth less battery capacity etc. It's really frustrating. The whole brand is losing their integrity. Focusing on sales and not on the customers...
At this point I have to say brands like honor are overtaking in high-speed because they listen to their audience.
I will quit Samsung. After almost 2 decades as a fan.

Great review Tom thanks. I do think despite progress these flip smart phones still feel like an experimental project. It’s that crease in the middle I think. It will take another 5 years or so for them to get to the Tony Stark level. Would be great if Apple entered the game as that would create more competition and innovation. Will get there but not yet!

Wrong..the crease is less noticeable on z fold5 compared to the z fold4..
I put my hands on z fold 5 at my local Bestbuy yesterday and it is Lighter in weight and the screen gets brighter and the crease was DEFINITELY LESS NOTICEABLE, U can almost not see it or feel it... and could not see or tell the inner screen protector was there... this is compared to the z fold4..
I'm actually impressed about the crease being less noticeable..😮😁👍WOW.. the s pen and the case is also nice and light and flat/thin..

I really like the idea of having a flip phone in 2023, but I'll stay with the s series phone until samsung gives us an almost normal aspect ratio. Same with the fold.

You know who really dropped the ball this year? Apple not dropping a foldable based off the Samsung fold 5 rumours. Knowing that there was gonna be basically no change, and guessing the justified sales drop that *should* come with that, apple could have really snuck in this year and dropped a foldable to steal a huge amount of market share. But i guess they are still a couple of years away..
As usual - they do it in their own sweet time. I reckon they'll count on existing iPhone owners anyway so there's no rush
I think the upgrades are so small unless your coming from a non foldable then don't waste your time or money its just not worth the upgrade as in reality you struggle to really say its an upgrade!
If you think you'll use cover screen - Flip 5 is a decent upgrade but the general phone experience is basically the same

I was commenting to the poster that said that he returned the full four because it was way too heavy most people assume how heavy it is because it’s two screens, but I’m reality they weigh about the same as your standard phone, that’s all I was trying to point out.
@@sherilyons1538that just isn't true. The fold is heavier than the 14 Pro Max. The fold 5 (which is lighter than the 4) is even heavier than the iphone 14 pro max.
The weight does not bother me. I only dislike the format, long, narrow, and thick feels weird in the pocket.

The fold is 13 g heavier than the iPhone. If you actually put a case on the iPhone, it is heavier than the fold. The point I was trying to make is there's no real difference in the weight of these two devices. If you can put an iPhone 14 Pro Max with a case in your pocket, then you can put a fold in your pocket.
Just give the freaking pen slot on the Fold. For Gawd sake listen for once Samsung.😤

I feel like Samsung has asked for these reviews, everyone praising one of the most disappointing devices. The Flip 5 can't even run full apps on the outer display. That's a massive dealbreaker compared to RAZR 40 Ultra
Ppl use outer display for daily usage…? Why do you need to run full apps on the outer display if you can simply flip the phone to do more stuff

Why must you use every app on the outer display, I mean the screen was created for tasks that are not time consuming, and I like this direction that samsung is going for they are sort of evaluating their current capabilities so that they know how to improve...
I don't want Samsung's durable glasses. I cannot use my S23 Ultra without the screen protector as I can do with my other phones. If you are not careful even your finger nail can scratch it.
