Idk how it even feels like glass when installed but all the glass on smartphones are this way now tbh. But yes on the flips it's even softer which is crazy af.
The only way I can see flip phone internal screens becoming more durable to scratches (to an extent) would be if they can create some sort of hybrid screen. They could have glass on the top and bottom (or left and right) and somehow integrate the plastic part into the glass but only where the fold is.
That's what I've been saying for a while, but the durability of the middle plastic section and also the feeling must be spot on, I don't think there's a seamless way to do that rn
Actually the screen is indeed a hybrid made of glas and plastic. Right now it is not possible to bend glas this shape and size (that has something to do with the size of the cross section). A good example is glas fiber. Toughness of glass but nearly flexible as rubber. All of that thanks to the small cross section. So it is understandable that foldable sceeens have plastic but add a bit of glass to enhance their toughness.
All this phone needs is 2 square glass screen protectors top and bottom with a gap for the hinge. I would take the small ridge and imagine aftermarket options appearing soon
He has never tested the screen for hardness on folding phones, always leaving the soft plastic screen-protector on. It really bugs me because the inside screen is a lot more durable.
It's a cool phone for sure but no way it's gonna last 4 years. Those screens fail after extended periods of use, no matter how good it looks during the durability test.

It's surprising how much people still expect these things to go down easy. I didn't hold my breath once and it passed with flying colours. Gotta say, the 5 looks really frickin pretty, it truly is a gorgeous and useful piece of kit by now. I've used lots of foldables by now with no issue so I know the worries are far over-hyped (at least with Samsung in particular) and tbh if there's a green Flip 6 I'll probably turn in my Flip 3 for that. Solid phone, by now, and it started off not too shabby to begin with!
Only if he does the same thing with regular glass rectangular slabs too! Why stop there? Try bending any regular phone to take a photo at a 90 degree angle, see if they survive that test. If they do, then they are tough.
Honestly, this does more to make me want to buy a flip than just about anything else. Zacks demonstrated that this thing is nearing normal phone durability which is really impressive. If the flip 6 has some real camera upgrades, I think that's the next one for me.
It is indeed getting there, but the missing jack, missing memory card and single card slot are such a "sportscar" move. *writing on my 4 year old entry level samsung A7 XD... still not convinced to switch to a notched/puncholed desing as the chin and forehead are such a pretty design part imo.
I was thinking the same. The 2 things stopping me is DeX support and not having a half decent camera. Not sure if DeX support changed with this model (I don't believe it did), I know the last model wasn't compatible with it.
Usually very hard on my phone (and can't really escape it at work). Otterbox and a glass screen protector have saved it so many times from some rather ugly falls, bumps, and scratches. Not the most aesthetic case but it hasn't let me down protection-wise.
Dbrand has nice bulky protective cases like Otterbox but they sell high quality stickers that attach to the case to give it a new look. The stickers feel smooth and not glossy. So if you wanna change the look again just change the sticker (about $25 for the sticker). The case itself has a very grippy rubber that feels kinda like smooth stone (about $50 for the case and sticker together). But the Dbrand case doesn’t block ports (or at least the cases I got didn’t) and isn’t as water proof as the Otterbox though.
Thank you for building my trust on the phone; you were manhandling it there n I had my heart throbbing in here. Your destructive testing is surely smthng that deserve free giveaways from companies. Keep educating!❤
For someone as tough as Zack, using something as fragile as a flip phone seems contradictory, despite it surviving the test. It's gonna be interesting to see the phone from inside!
@@compilationvideos4489it is a lot more fragile if you compare it to non-foldable flagships that cost around the same. S23 series is easily a lot more reliable and will last lot longer, which is what the OP probably meant.
yeah people treat these as super fragile but they really aren't any different than another phone. Most screen scratches are "imperceptible" and as someone who uses a Samsung with a hydrofilm screen protector that scratches at a lvl 2 with deeper grooves at a lvl 3 I don't think many would mind. Though I wouldn't expect to be able to keep the phone in use for 6+ years
I'm generally pretty light on my phones, but my zFlip 4 hinge stopped fully opening after ~9 months. It was RMAd no questions asked, which was a good experience. I traded it in and got a zFlip 5 for $100, hoping that the new hinge mechanism lasts a bit longer this time around.
@@GH0STST4RSCR34M I like the form factor, so as long as their willing to fix it, I'm willing to be a tester. Ultimately I want this form factor to do well.
@@GH0STST4RSCR34M If Samsung is going to do things like RMA no questions asked, and give $900 trade in values on year old phones, I think they are being pretty aggressive. If they're going that far with it, they must see it getting to a point where they don't need to do all of that to sustain.
@@scott2100 My Z Flip 4 has lasted much longer than a year without any issues. If the phone has issues like this, its either because of what the owner did to it or it's a lemon from the factory. Lemons will break soon after getting it, not 9 months later. So taking this guys advice is piss poor judgement when 99% of owners never have this issue.
@Gojira_Wins I know. My biggest hangup with even considering a Flip has been the lack of USB faster than 2.0, the 5 has 3.2, if it could support wired dex, that would have sealed it for me. Screen durability is still a concern, but less so as the generations go by
I have a Z Flip 3 that I've had for 2 years now and It's holding up just fine. I work in construction with concrete which is dusty as hell so if mine has survived so far I don't see much reason for durability to be a major concern over a regular slab phone.
Same here, i'm using a Z fold 3 and its often exposed to a lot of wood dust but the hinge is fine. Had to replace the screen protector once after using it for a year though. Honestly I didnt expect this phone to last this long lol
The creases have a tendency to delaminate themselves, regardless of how well cared for they are. My experience in telco retail indicates that much, at least.
@@warlock2221_ I use Flip 3 as well and the crease is the same (or unnoticeably bigger) as when I folded it shut the first time. I use cover that has slightly raised bumpers so the phone seems to be shut completely (but it is more open then without case). so it might play a role in the crease situation.
I wonder if they could make a screen protector made of tempered glass on the flats and use the soft flexible material towards the center hinge. That way 80% of the inner screen wouldn't show damage at a lvl 2 pick.
The Great Folding Test showed, that flip 5's hinge is really durable and could withstand many forms of abuse (and dusty pockets are not a big deal for it either). It's quite impressive, what Samsung did over 5 generations.
It's actually really impressive considering he put it through incredibly rough testing. He was fooooorcing that hinge to break, he put a fkload of sand into it and it still worked. Impressive.
I love the aesthetics of the flip phones but... I'm so paranoid about it developing a crease as it gets older, which is something they still don't seem to have figured out. All those layers of soft, easily marked plastic are just not for me
This. This is what's preventing me from going to a foldable. I don't want to notice a crease in the screen. I will notice a crease in the screen. Once I notice it it's all I'll see and I won't want the phone anymore because the crease detracts from my viewing pleasure. Hard pass until the technology comes around and the crease entirely disappears.
@@leobrz Yes, I have no issues with the phone! It takes great photos (all of my family have iphones and are jealous), It's minimal and slides right into your pocket! And is reliable! I have had the flip 3 and 4, and the fold....I have no issues or complaints!
I'm watching this on a Flip 5, and I love it. The phone takes perfectly serviceable photos unless you are a photo snob. The only issue I've noticed is zooming in kills the quality much faster than on my S21. Otherwise, I love the form factor, and while the phone closed is thicker, it still feels like it takes up less real estate in my pocket. Battery life has still been good as well. It lasts me all day at work and into the night.
I am too. I somehow scratched my cover screen after only owning it for 2 days. I put it in my pocket with keys 🤦. I hopefully can get it fixed eventually, but I'm shocked this passed the test with Jerry, yet I managed to fuck it up 🤔
I really think its moreso the dust thats killing these phones and not the flipping. Currently using the flip as my main for the first time and loving it. Ill be more glad once it gets real dust resistance and a bigger battery
I had my note 10 for 4 years before i gave it up. I loved that phone. Nothing was good enough to make me switch. Until the 23 ultra (which is the note, lol)
yes i wish he'd do this to see how well the real screen under the plastic screen protector took the dents! I've been suggesting this for a while now as its an important aspect of overall durability
I think it's safer to let Samsung replace it since you'll void your warranty if you damage the screen while peeling it off. Samsung can deny future warranty claims even if the peel didn't immediately cause damage.
i would not remove the plastic screen protector, my fold 3s screen protectors started bubbling on its own 6 months into its life, i ignored it and didnt get it re-applied, eventually 3 months later the inner screen turned black in the center, and stopped working. I personally believe the screen protector is a key component of the screen, without it your phone will be a ticking time bomb, in terms of your screens longetivity. The screen protector on my fold 4 has stayed on with no signs of bubbling at all, and seems to have been applied with more strength. i have not had any issues with it, I bought the fold 5, and i imagine i wont have any issues with that either.
Hey Zack, i wouldn't recommend the flip for your hands. As you mentioned before, you have workers hands and i can verify that the rough skin on a thumb, is enough to scratch that plastic screen. Already after about a week of use, you can clearly see small scratches on it. after a few months, the bottom screen will start to look like frosted glass. I dont understand why they dont just use 2 screens, theyve already mastered seamless panels.
Although not specifically intended, my takeaway from this and other videos Zack makes is less about phones and more about financial advice. Every time he reminds me that he is still using the Note Ten, he also reminds me that spending money is not always the best way to go.
04:26 zack scratched many camera lenses that even tried to scratch the lens of his main camera (that was recording the video) through the phone's screen 😂😂
I just upgraded from my S10+ to the Z Flip 5 and so far I love it. I agree it would be nice if you could put a glass screen protector inside, but that would change the foldability and create a gap.
How do you cope with the visible crease at the fold of the phone? I feel like that would bother me while watching TH-cam, or Amazon Prime, or any sort of videos. That crease in the inner foldable screen would irritate the hell out of me. $1000 for a phone and the screen is permanently marred.
@@DivineNihilism I have the flip 5 and I personally don't notice the crease at all when using the device day to day, polarized sunglasses do make it quite visible though

I love your experiences to smash the devices of luxury companies and from these experiences decide whether the device is worth buying or not. Thank you
I wonder why the flip / fold gets so much hate. I started to use the fold 3. And going to swap to the fold 5 today. Im more than just pleased with it. Yes it does have its trough backs but considering its an actual foldable phone + tablet in some way its a clean 10/10 for me. Over the next few years refinement will happen. I just hope for the inner screen to last longer. More battery capacity and maybe somewhat of a usual ratio. But other then that. I wont change back to a note and surely not to an iphone.
@@Vile_Entity_3545 we know that. It's just that flip isn't the best phone samsung offers right now. Yeah, it's cute and i want it too but in terms of durability or camera, it's not it.
@@juffalimac7514 It's always funny when people use the camera argument when it comes to smartphones. The relative quality of smartphone cameras is all the same, especially when you start comparing it to dedicated cameras which capture many times more information. Phones are just for point and shoot, and any phone nowadays can capture nice photos. Anyway, folding and flipping phones have gotten a lot better wehn it comes to durability, Moto and Oppo don't even suffer from cracking the folding screen, since they now utilize the "U" shape when folded, there's dust and water resistance now, sure it's not IP68 but 90% of people never fully utilize IP68 even if they have it, it's overkill for an average joe. You don't need IP68 for the phone to survive being used in rain for example, phones 15 years ago survived such use just fine.

3:05 I think we will get to the point where we can seamlessly blend glass into plastic for the hinge and back to glass for the rest of the screen. Even if it’s not seamless, it’s a moot point with the crease in the middle. They should just do it.
Having a plastic screen is miles better over glass, bizarrely ive less scratches on my fold 3 than i did on my iphone 13 pro. The iphone 13 pro screen also cracked a year in, which ive never never had to worry about with my fold 3. I hope more phones go back to plastic screens
It's my first foldable, upgrading from my 4 years old galaxy s10. It was honestly still a very serviceable phone, which is why I picked another samsung device, but it's age is just starting to show by giving me lags and it's horrendously slow storage making me wait half a minute to load old pictures. I love the cover screen and I'm using it a lot, my brother in law uses an older flip and he pretty much always have it unfolded unless if it's going to his pocket. The Flip 5 however give you a reason to keep it folded, it's less of a gimmick now and more of a convenience thing. I have a small hand and the cover is AMAZING for one handed use, small things that I usually would do 2 handed can be done in the cover screen. Replying to messages, music, navigation, selecting routines for my smart devices, watching youtube, and even play games! For the inner screen, I really overestimated on bad the crease would feel and looks. It's thought it would be more of a gouge, but it's less distracting and the slope even feel nice to fidget with. Also, I don't know how they did it, it feels like glass, and it's way tougher than you would think. You REALLY have to intentionally try to scratch it with your fingernails for it to leave a mark. Can't think of a downside, all I have to compare it to is my old S10 so everything's an upgrade.
I upgraded from the S20+ which I had for 3 years. This is also my first foldable. Pretty much agree with what you said - also to add the performance is rapid and the battery life is better than I was expecting. I easy get through a day using the camera a lot etc. The only things I don't like are the screen does feel (and look in the sun) like plastic to me. Also if you wear polarized sunglasses you can really see its not the same as a normal smartphone screen. But they are far from deal breakers. The Cover Screen is game changing - completely changes how I use my phone, and now I can use it all one handed which is a lot more convenient than you think it would be!
Reading this from my 7 years old S9....thing is, my options are S23 256GB or zflip5 512GB (cell phone company issues). I was afraid because I live in the country with lots of dusty wind, work with horses....so this made more confident in keeping at least a bit more storage by choosing zflip 5
I daily use the Galaxy Note 9 since 2018 and i'm suprised that, despite the edge display, it survived many drops without a case. Smartphone manufacturers haven't given me a reason to upgrade yet. I'm looking forward to your long term experiences with the Flip 5.
I'm still using my note 9 too! And contemplating buying a note 9 online if my current one spoils... since it's the last model with the earphone jack...
7:24 Huh? You said that you'd switch if the phone survived, which it did. It should be your daily driver, regardless of the battery having pull tabs or not.
So, I think the curve in the glass breaking when dropped can be a good thing actually. If it was a flat screen, it would still break but then the shattering would be all over the screen, whereas with the curve, most of the breaking is kept in the curve. Although, that said, having the curve gives less area for contact with the ground when dropped, meaning more pressure on a smaller area, so the phone is more at risk of becoming unusable (I would know, I lost an S22 Ultra to an unlucky asphalt drop)
One thing I'd love to do if I ever get this phone is for it to get dust resistance. When you have a lot of family who live in rural areas you're gonna have moments where you're covered in dust and sand. Thanks for this review. It helps me feel more comfortable considering this phone.
TH-cam seems to love to serve me your videos after a MKBHD video. I gotta say it's pretty dope to learn about all of the features of a device and then come right over to see how durable it is! Excellent combination of information! 😎👌🏿
This seems like a really strange choice if your criteria is toughness and longevity, but good luck. The Fairphone 5 is expected to launch in a few days time, I too keep my phones for quite a long time so personally I'll be getting one of those. Micro SD, replaceable battery, all good things for longevity plus I won't have to be concerned about damaging my screen with just a fingernail.
Well those phones are as tough as other phones. Just see for yourself, some Rog phones that I thought were really strong and bulky, just snapped in half, while a foldable is not, so it does really makes you think. I have a Fold 3 and this thing has absolutely no damage at all in the inside, and when it does, I just replace the screen protector with another one, easy as that.

Hey Zack, would you ever consider doing any water testing? Regardless of what the manufacturer says, ie: does it survive the drop into a gallon of water test…?
He doesn't accept feedback. It had been years before he finally registered the fingerprint before damaging the sensor.. although it was repeatedly mentioned under every video.
Note, as Z Flip 4 owner before and Flip 5 owner now, scratches with nail he did were really hard, intentionally pressed - you're unlikely to ever scratch your screen with nails. You're more likely to get micro scratches on the protective film from daily dust. I know it because I owned Flip 4 for a year and just now tested my nails against flip 5.
I upgraded from the note 10 plus to the flip 3 to the flip 5. The flip 5 is a serous upgrade all around. The battery is a lot better and fits nicely in the pocket! If you're worried about storage it comes with 512 gb witch is plenty!
As a Samsung technician with an affinity for foldables, it will *not* last 4 years. Fold 3 main screens are starting to fail at quite an alarming rate as they cross the 2 year mark. I know some folks still have Fold 2s out in the wild tho so they can last many years but seem unlikely based on the numbers in my repair store
I don't have your teardown skin, I opted for the robot takeover, but buying the brand case at your recommendation was the best decision I've ever made for my phone
Owner of Flip 4 here, the dust that gets in the hinge will sand away the flex cables. I had this happen to mine 2 weeks after sand got in, microphone does not work anymore, screen and lower battery disconnect depending on phone position (please like for zack to see)
Plastic has been amazing for my fold 3, not really got any scratches and I have no screen protectors on. Best part is I've dropped this phone countless times and not a single crack in the screen. I actually find it mental how people still enjoy their glass screens
I've had a foldable for a few years now and the soft inner screen hasn't really been an issue since it's generally closed when I'm not using it and toss keys in the same bag or pocket.
THANK YOU. It's like everyone's brain has stopped working. Yes, the inner screen is not as durable, but this is the ZFlip. The phone SHUTS! Therefore, PROTECTING IT from any kind of damage when it is SHUT!
NIcely done! I'm truly impressed with the Z Flip 5's durability overall. If I get rich and the Z Flip 6 is as durable with more features, I may get one as my new phone. o7
I've been using my z fold 4 for almost 8 months, I bought it second hand and at the beginning I was babysitting it a lot but eventually I lost my fear and started to use it just like any other phone, I even stopped using a case since it makes it bulkier, anyways 3 months ago my biggest fear came to reality, the inner screen protector started to peel and sadly there's no samsung store in my country that can replace them, I thought about getting one on amazon but eventually I said, fuck it and I have been using it without that protector for almost 4 months, and it has lasted wonderfully, the screen doesn't feel as plasticky as it used to and I would say it also looks clearer and brighter, and even better, no scratches thus far. I've definitely lost all the fear I had before getting a folding phone, and whatever my next phone is, it will definitely be another folding phone. There's no turn back after having experienced this.
As someone who knows nothing about engineering I think they eventually could develop one of these with only folding class at the hinge, seamlessly going into gorilla glass on the large portions
Ye, I thought about this solution when they showed their first foldable. Rather obvious thing to do but maybe its difficult to make it work in practice.
Just upgraded to fhe Flip5 from the Note 10+. After two weeks, I'm exchanging this for a Fold5. Really loved the front screen, but as a heavy user that relies on a smartphone for work, there isn't enough juice for a full day. If the Flip6 will have a bigger battery, faster processor, and better cameras, I'll happily come back to the Flip.
I think we’ll see a glass - plastic - glass sandwich real soon. Such that most of the screen scratches at a level 7 with deeper groves at level 8, except the part where it folds. It’s hard to do as the glass to plastic transition can’t be chopped. But I think we will have a gradient grass in the future. Be hopeful folks!
I don't really think the large-screen getting scratched is that much of an issue with a flip. considering the phone is folded in your pocket. That's really the best protection you can have. People talking about a hybrid large screen made out of glass? Why? If you don't need it and just adds more weight.
Zack and I have unintentionally been in synch for the past couple of daily drivers since I too had the S8 and the Note 10, but we go our separate ways now if he gets the Flip 5 as I've moved on to iPhone, a.k.a. the dark side, and got a 12 mini!
The fact that a guy like Zack, that has just tried/destroyed/internally checked SO MANY phones, is considering a Z series phone, just shows you how much this niche of a phone has grown. From being a simple gimmick, to actually conquer a part of the market. Anyway, Z phones are a great thing, if you thind a use for it : for the Fold it's either work or Games/Video, and the Flip is just being cute and overall usefull I like the Flip/Fold more and more, I just find it original, theres nothing that attracts me anymore to these regular same shape blocks of screens.. It's always the same, theres only the camera placement that changes between brands, nothing really new in the past 5+ years, so finaly seeing someone INNOVATES is really great

Only if he does the same thing with regular glass rectangular slabs too! Why stop there? Try bending any regular phone to take a photo at a 90 degree angle, see if they survive that test. If they do, then they are tough.
100%
Pressing the volume buttons does this a little bit
He did that with s6
Honestly, this does more to make me want to buy a flip than just about anything else. Zacks demonstrated that this thing is nearing normal phone durability which is really impressive. If the flip 6 has some real camera upgrades, I think that's the next one for me.
the main screen is still gonna break after about a year as the plastic weakens
it does, but nothing dramatic
@@vindicatelol whilke you're predicting future, give me some sport results please :)
03:46 Not to be too technical but memory CAN be upgraded since the phone has RAM+ feature.
Storage CAN'T be upgraded.
no
All that is it just a larger swap/pagefile. It's not a replacement to ram and definitely not new
Thank you for building my trust on the phone; you were manhandling it there n I had my heart throbbing in here.
Your destructive testing is surely smthng that deserve free giveaways from companies. Keep educating!❤
I feel what you feel hahaha
For someone as tough as Zack, using something as fragile as a flip phone seems contradictory, despite it surviving the test. It's gonna be interesting to see the phone from inside!
Do it!!!
It's not that fragile though
It can take several drops
@@compilationvideos4489it is a lot more fragile if you compare it to non-foldable flagships that cost around the same. S23 series is easily a lot more reliable and will last lot longer, which is what the OP probably meant.
You are spoiling the video
yeah people treat these as super fragile but they really aren't any different than another phone. Most screen scratches are "imperceptible" and as someone who uses a Samsung with a hydrofilm screen protector that scratches at a lvl 2 with deeper grooves at a lvl 3 I don't think many would mind. Though I wouldn't expect to be able to keep the phone in use for 6+ years
Zack: IF THE SAMSUNG Z FLIP 5 SURVIVES… I'll Switch.
Samsung: **sweating profusely**
I'm generally pretty light on my phones, but my zFlip 4 hinge stopped fully opening after ~9 months. It was RMAd no questions asked, which was a good experience. I traded it in and got a zFlip 5 for $100, hoping that the new hinge mechanism lasts a bit longer this time around.
A 9 month lifespan is gravely concerning
Screen durability is still a concern, but less so as the generations go by
Happiness is on the inside, and you can buy that inner happiness down in the description 😂😂😂
i cant help grinning when you go at phones, makes me smile every time..keep it up mate..peace from Australia
I have a Z Flip 3 that I've had for 2 years now and It's holding up just fine. I work in construction with concrete which is dusty as hell so if mine has survived so far I don't see much reason for durability to be a major concern over a regular slab phone.
What about crease on your phone has it become more noticeable
Same here, i'm using a Z fold 3 and its often exposed to a lot of wood dust but the hinge is fine. Had to replace the screen protector once after using it for a year though. Honestly I didnt expect this phone to last this long lol
The creases have a tendency to delaminate themselves, regardless of how well cared for they are. My experience in telco retail indicates that much, at least.
@@warlock2221_ Crease has gotten deeper, yes, but nothing has broken yet.
Thickness would be weird
I think the Dome Glass brand tried that with the Z Fold3 and I only saw it for a brief period and then they stopped selling it.
Probably very expensive to produce
ive been thinking about this
@@blurryyu damn u genius since 2012
The Great Folding Test showed, that flip 5's hinge is really durable and could withstand many forms of abuse (and dusty pockets are not a big deal for it either).
To be honest the phone does come with a crease and you'll see it when the screen is off however you won't notice it when the screen is on
6 month in with mine and the crease remains the same… minimal!
@@1sleestac dont know if youll ever see this but is this phone good? after i guess 8 months of use? im considering buying it

My daily phone is the Z Flip 5 and I love it. It's an amazing phone, definitely, we're good, another one.

Yo hows te flip screen now? Is it damaged?
I had my note 10 for 4 years before i gave it up. I loved that phone. Nothing was good enough to make me switch. Until the 23 ultra (which is the note, lol)
Huge respect ,i agree with upgrading once 3 or 4 years my first ever phone was an s4 mini ,then an s8 and now an s21 ultra..!
My Man said "munching rocks like a goron!"... the triforce is strong with this one!
and I thought I was the only one noticing it. Niiice
2:48 you can remove the screen protector, which is 2nd layer. 1st layer is capped under the plastic bezel, which we're not supposed to remove.
yes i wish he'd do this to see how well the real screen under the plastic screen protector took the dents!
Watching this on my flip 5 hurts
I just upgraded from my S10+ to the Z Flip 5 and so far I love it. I agree it would be nice if you could put a glass screen protector inside, but that would change the foldability and create a gap.
How do you cope with the visible crease at the fold of the phone? I feel like that would bother me while watching TH-cam, or Amazon Prime, or any sort of videos. That crease in the inner foldable screen would irritate the hell out of me. $1000 for a phone and the screen is permanently marred.
@DivineNihilism typing on one now and you can only see the crease if the screens completely black, you can't tell at all when using it normally :)
@@DivineNihilism I have the flip 5 and I personally don't notice the crease at all when using the device day to day, polarized sunglasses do make it quite visible though
I love that the alternative to getting a more protective phone, is to get one with not one, but TWO screens. (for when you only break one screen and want a half-functional phone)
I love your experiences to smash the devices of luxury companies and from these experiences decide whether the device is worth buying or not. Thank you
Finally!! Have my flip 5 with a dbrand skin 😏

Why? He can afford as many phones as he wants.
It's odd he chose the Flip but it would be perfect for Zack as he can afford to replace it every year.
@@pixels_per_inch I bet he won't, since he repaired his Note many times. I bet he'll use the flip for as long as he can, and that we'll definitely see him repairing the screen in the future, just as he did his Note.

Same, i am planning to replace my S10 with this Zflip or S23 .. i am pretty confused
Me, too! Love my Note 9! 💜
3:19 "The metal volume rocker is removable, kinda fun." 😆😆😆
Hope you get your hands on flip 6 soon since they say the screen inside is stronger! I might buy 6 if it's!
Did you had a tempered glass on?
Folding phones seemed like a dream a few years ago. I have no doubt they'll come up with something tough as glass, or better, but also flexible

I had this happen to mine 2 weeks after sand got in, microphone does not work anymore, screen and lower battery disconnect depending on phone position (please like for zack to see)
Jerry did everything Samsung told him not to do 😂
I would never go back to plastic screens, no matter the gimmick they pull off.

Please update does that screen still work fine🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
As someone who knows nothing about engineering I think they eventually could develop one of these with only folding class at the hinge, seamlessly going into gorilla glass on the large portions
thats actually a great idea
Ye, I thought about this solution when they showed their first foldable. Rather obvious thing to do but maybe its difficult to make it work in practice.

I appreciate the dirt fold test, that's what happens daily with my phones!
6:49 that clap though
I think we’ll see a glass - plastic - glass sandwich real soon.
Such that most of the screen scratches at a level 7 with deeper groves at level 8, except the part where it folds. It’s hard to do as the glass to plastic transition can’t be chopped. But I think we will have a gradient grass in the future. Be hopeful folks!
I had a similar thought. You know, like weaving glass strands with the plastic near the folding area.

Anyway, Z phones are a great thing, if you thind a use for it : for the Fold it's either work or Games/Video, and the Flip is just being cute and overall usefull
I like the Flip/Fold more and more, I just find it original, theres nothing that attracts me anymore to these regular same shape blocks of screens.. It's always the same, theres only the camera placement that changes between brands, nothing really new in the past 5+ years, so finaly seeing someone INNOVATES is really great
