Despite numerous reviews of these foldables, I’m still missing a TH-camr’s perspective on their app experiences. It would have been fascinating to see how the apps perform on both devices. Nevertheless, still a great comparison and video.
Well I have both and there's nothing like having a foldable. You get the best of both worlds. A regular phone and a tablet that's sick for media consumption and business. I like the Pixel Fold a lot! Selling my Z Fold now because this phone is so good. Z Fold is very barrow
@@themasonera Can you tell me if the camera on the Pixel 9 pro fold is closer to the Pixel 8 or 7 camera? I'm debating whether to try out a foldable and i have loves Pixel UI since the Pixel one so I would get a Pixel foldable phone.
Yeah it's perfect now, I don't want two s24 ultra phones put together that's just too big. Only thing they need to add is the flagship cameras and bigger battery.
Your pick was surprising. The amount of features the Fold 6 has over the Pixel Fold 2, particularly software wise, vastly outmatched the Pixel. Picking the Pixel because the front display is wider, while lacking in multitasking, stylus input, and a dead main screen until you rebooted the phone, is a head scratcher.
Front screen a big difference. When I had the fold all I used was the front screen and it’s too uncomfortable to use. When I was able to use the bigger screen everything was fine but an average user would use the front screen more.
I agree. I don't get the hype with the pixel fold. Its software is very bare bones and lacking compared to Samsung and OnePlus. I'd use the same argument to say that the OnePlus Open is the better all in one multitasking on device foldable. Samsung does have dex, which is great for external displays, but I think on device multitasking is easily the best on the Open.
I tried both, have both and Google pixel wins for me too. Battery life is 2 hours longer on Pixel Fold. The open screen is brighter on Google Pixel, it lays flat, The Samsung has a small curve/bend I always notice. Google has more space due to lack of Samsung Bloatware(not a fan of the apps only one I get and use is the Health app). And finally Google Pixel Pro 9 fold cost $1040 with tax out the door.... Samsung cost $1510 out the door and the only thing Samsung clearly won on was the camera and not by much. Multi-tasking and capes were the same across the board Same software ability. Sounds is pretty much the same, Hinge is way better for long term use on the Google. Samsung feels less solid and I have a friend that has had to send back 2 Samsung Z Folds already for Screen issues. Samsung had a mad amount of issues on Z Fold 4 so I am interested to see how long the Z Fold 6 lasts, no issues on mine so far so we will see. As long as you are happy with your choice you are winning!
Same for pixel there are a lot better features that it has but samsung doesnt its down to preference if you like thr advantages of one ui choose it if you prefer the pixels one then choose it
2:12 type with one hand... Works brilliantly. 9:25 the UDC is massively underrated on the Z Fold. The only time you're using the inner camera is for video calls and for that it works exceptionally well. It's typically the best quality video on a video call next to other webcams. Then, when you're not using it, you have a clean hole-free canvas to enjoy. The Pixel software wastes the foldable form factor. The only thing it does better than OneUI is swipe to continue on the cover display which it borrowed from Oppo/OnePlus.
The Z Fold 6 has an excellent design. I understand that not everyone may prefer the size of the front screen, but fortunately, there are other options available to suit different preferences.
I have the Fold 6 and love it! 😍 Such a leap from the 4 in actual use. Multitasking with floating windows makes a desktop experience with an external keyboard on the inner screen. The only thing I miss is having the s-pen inside the phone, but the competitors don't have one at all. 🤷♂️ The front screen size is perfect one handed and the whole package feels very pocketable. 🙌
Actually, the sole reason I'm opting for a foldable smartphone is to break away from the monotony of standard smartphones, which have become unexciting and lack innovation. Foldable smartphones ought to combine the essentials of a basic smartphone with the advanced features of a high-quality mini-tablet. I'm quite pleased that Samsung remains committed to prioritizing the inner display over the outer one. The outer display serves for basic tasks, encouraging users to unfold the device and utilize the inner display for a fuller and better experience. If Samsung were to enhance the outer display too much, it could overshadow the benefits of the inner display which is the main part of foldable smartphones. Then, most people might argue that the device isn't worth the price if they aren't using the inner screen extensively for the best experience. Many people fail to grasp that a foldable smartphone shouldn't merely be a typical candy bar phone with an extra oversized screen. Instead, it ought to be akin to a mini-tablet that incorporates the fundamental features of a smartphone within its foldable design.
I see it the other way, around the de facto smartphone that can open to a tablet on the occasions you need it. As he said in this video, most of the stuff we use a smartphone for is to do quick stuff. We do not want to be forced to open for that. I think Samsung fans use this get-out-of-jail card by saying it is a tablet with smartphone functionality; nah, most of us know it's a smartphone with a tremendous inner display when needed.
@@andyH_England No, the Z Flip series is the foldable smartphone that is the one that should be the real smartphone that folds. The Z Folds are the mini-tablets with smartphone capabilities that does the most basic stuffs as a smartphone but does stuffs as a mini-tablet extremely well. This is actually Samsung own goal as well, something they have openly said them self somewhere. I have been reading it but can't remember where I have seen it.
I haven't watched the whole video yet, so maybe I'm missing something that you're referencing, but I think that both the inside and outside screens should be fully functional and not be "annoying" to use in any way. You shouldn't support Samsung doing what they're doing and say that they're "committed to prioritizing the inner display", because they clearly aren't. The aspect ratio is still uncommon, the hole punch camera technology hasn't improved at all since it was introduced on the Z fold 3, there's still a massive crease (I personally don't care about that, but its a testament to just how much they care about improving their fold), and if the inner screen was a priority then it the phone would have a built in pen for writing and note-taking (after all that's the whole point of a big screen - aka the Note lineup). This isn't exactly on topic since you didn't go right out and say you like the Samsung, but I'll say it anyway. The Z fold 6 is an absolute embarrassment to Samsung and is the exact opposite of innovation. The largest improvements come from the Snapdragon processor used inside, offering better camera processing capability and increased efficiency + performance. They haven't changed the cameras or battery in years, and only now have they finally updated the screens to be LTPO and a usable brightness. It's still way thicker and heavier than it should be and is overall a very disappointing device. Also, just to reiterate, a folding phone of this style (not a flip) should not have any compromises on the inside or outside screen. "Essentials of a basic smartphone" are apps and functions that are used to and optimized for a very specific aspect ratio. Phones for years have always been the same, and if you make a screen that's far narrower it makes it unusable. But if the other screen option is equally unusable, then you're left in a bit of an awkward place, not having a screen that can do exactly what you want it to do. The ideal folding phone is one that folds twice, giving you a useful inside + outside screen (plus it saves on resources, only needing one panel and one selfie camera instead of two of each), but that's a discussion for a different day. The idea of a folding phone shouldn't be "which one do I use more often, the inside or outside screen", but rather, "What can I accomplish better with having the two options that I do at my disposal". Watching media, multitasking, web browsing, PDF and Excel Sheet viewing, etc. Can all be done on the inside screen, but things like texting, quick emails, and social media can be done just fine on the outside screen *IF* the aspect ratio is good enough on both. The Chinese foldables do this well. Samsung does not.
@@connorburke5761 The core issue, which seems to be overlooked by many, is that if Samsung enhances the outer screen's usability too much, the majority of Z Fold users will predominantly use the outer screen, neglecting the inner screen in most situations. This has been substantiated by several tech TH-camrs who, after using other foldable phones with a more conventional outer screen aspect ratio, found themselves rarely opening the inner screen. They questioned the need to use the inner screen when the outer screen sufficed for most tasks. The intent behind the Z Fold design is to encourage usage that maximizes the device's value beyond that of a standard smartphone. If I were to use my Z Fold6 as a regular smartphone most of the time, it would not justify the additional expense when I could opt for a much more affordable S24 Ultra instead. The primary reason for purchasing a Z Fold is for the inner screen and the mini-tablet functionality, not the outer screen. The overall experience is greatly enhanced by using the inner screen, which offers a superior experience compared to a standard smartphone. The Z Fold is purchased to break away from the monotony of traditional smartphones. In essence, the Z Folds serve as mini-tablets with basic smartphone functions, whereas the Z Flips are akin to foldable standard smartphones. I appreciate your understanding. Thank you.
@@connorburke5761 It seems there's a misunderstanding about the appeal of Z Fold devices for users. We, the Z Fold enthusiasts, purchase these devices to break free from the conventional candy bar smartphone design, opting instead for a mini-tablet experience that leverages the larger inner screen for enhanced usability. If our intention was to use the Z Fold merely as a standard smartphone, it would be more economical to choose the S24 Ultra and save a significant amount of money. Foldable smartphones are not meant to be typical phones with an additional large screen. They are designed to offer a mini-tablet experience, with the primary focus on the expansive inner screen, while the outer screen provides the convenience for quick, routine tasks. In essence, the decision to invest in a Z Fold is not driven by the desire to own just another smartphone at a premium price. Myself and many others are drawn to the superior experience provided by the Z Fold's inner screen. I appreciate your time in reading and understanding my perspective. Thank you.
I prefer unity, and I like having both the same. I doubt this would be a deal breaker, especially as the Galaxy Fold market share has fallen from 70% to
I love the front display of the z fold 6! It's easily the best one-handed phone on the market. The issue with most reviewers who say they hate typing on the front screen is that they are only typing with two hands. I honestly do not even remember the last time I used two hands to type. I use Google keyboard and just type by swiping. It's easy, fast, accurate, and comfortable because I can reach from side to side without stretching at all. Not sure why you even try to type any other way. Give it a shot. Btw, this is my 4th Fold (started with the 3) so I'm a big fan!
I was completely confused purchasing the pro fold 9 unseen, and now that I have it..oh my goodness am I glad I chose it. Front screen is amazing compared to the z fold 6. Love the big inner screen but able to use my front screen with no problems at all. The bezel is nowhere near as bad as it looks on videos. And it helps from a case covering part of the usuable screen. Love love love it!
The superior performance and multitasking on the Z Fold 6 means it wins. IMO the main point of the larger screen is to be able to do more and I think Google should have allowed for more than just side-by-side apps. Samsung's features can often seem excessive or overwhelming, but it makes a lot of sense in this form factor.
@@illbet4589 I use it for work all the time, often using 3-4 apps at once. Don't need a big screen just to watch content, for me it's to be more productive.
@@illbet4589 Then why are so many companies including Apple keep putting those feature in all their devices? Just because it looks cool? Lol You sounds like a person who used those features only for the instagrams and tiktok 😂
That Performance isn’t that noticeable as battery life wise pixel fold is actually better. Z fold does have more multitasking features but pixel UI is just so much more pleasing to me
I have the Fold6 & wish it was bigger but let's accept it for what it is. Now that there are more competions. It's good to have variations. If it was the same then ppl would complain & say they're all the same. I must say next time around I might switch...
Only the width is equal. It's very tall and the aspect ratio is completely different. Fold 6 is not a mini phone, it's a tall narrow standard phone and it's also the only option from Samsung. You can choose plus and max sizes for iPhones. I can see what you're going for in terms of width arguments but the people who loved and praised iPhone mini were probably referring to the overall size and not just the width.
This is my first video I've ever watched of your channel and I must say this was a very good review/comparison of both phones. I want the Pro Fold and this is a great review that didn't seem bias toward one or the other. Well done! 👏
The display bug is why I like Samsung over all the other guys their OS has been rock solid stable. I haven't even rebooted my S22 when I got it 2 years at all since then except for firmware updates. :)
It happened once but Im using the Pixel 9 Pro FOld as a daily so I'll do a long term review and let everyone know if anything else creeps up. But ya the Z fOld 6 and OnePlus Open have been solid from a software perspective.
12:55 till end ... you are first tech-youtuber which make this point so important. THIS is exactly THE REASON why I switched back from Z5 fold to S23 Ultra and I will be never coming back to fold Z series with this form factor.
Meanwhile, the Z Fold form factor is why I will never go back to a slab phone. Different strokes. For me, the Z Fold form factor is perfect, at least until I can get a triple screen foldable like Huawei just released. Typing on the Z Fold is dead simple with one hand. People keep trying to use two hands when it's unnecessary.
I had the reverse problem, after 4 years on a fold I tried to switch to s23 ultra and sent it back within a few days to get the fold 5, because I could no longer have a daily driver with a folded-in sized phone screen.
I personally went with the Z Fold 6 and love it and enjoy the one-handed use on the front display and two-handed use when open. This is my first foldable, and I was torn between these two but ultimately went with Samsung. Another big thing I considered was my lack of faith in the tensor chip and issues google just had in last years lineup.
I agree especially with the chip. I personally think the pixel looks so much better but still went samsung. Also Samsungs foldable software seems better even if google has the nicest android skin
Totally understandable if it's your 1st foldable. It's almost the same as the Fold 2 & is the same as the Fold 3. Just really slow, minimal upgrades tht would Apple blush. BUT if it's your 1st one it's a solid choice & new to you.
Issues with last year's Google lineup?? Like what? If anything, I've heard very positive reviews of the people who own Google Pixel's.. lol. I think they both hold their own very we'll. Honestly no wrong answer whichever you go.
@@thekingkong209- the first pixel that came out last year. I was going to buy it, but the manager at AT&T said that him and other managers all had the same problem of calls, not coming in at all. Or messages coming in like 15 minutes late. Which makes the phone unusable. I had the exact same problem when I bought the galaxy fold 2. And a friend of mine had the exact same problem when he bought the galaxy fold three. I am going to buy this second edition of pixel and I will return it if it has phone or message problems.
I've been using z fold for a long time now over, i buy the new phone every other year cuz they improvements are minor. I really appreciate how they are able to improve the hinge making it more snug and the weight is really important.
You should go and buy one right now. They have really good deals. I got mine for pretty much half off at half the price that’s just a viable for you purchasing one I would never buy one of these for full price.
You made a beautiful video. I have the Z Fold 6 and I feel great, it's better than I thought. But I have a question, where did you find the Wallpapers?
Wow what a great review , subbed ! I saw both phones at Best buy when I took a trip, I was going in there to shop for something completely different than a phone. I already have a brand new Motorola razr plus, but when I came across these phones I was just obsessed, had to have one of them, was leaning a little more towards the google pixel because of its size , and after this review, It definitely sealed the deal, my google pixel 9 fold comes in on Wednesday, 2 days from now 😂😂
I just wanna say how overjoyed i am that the past couple years have broight new form factors for us to try, at leasst in the Android space. My foldable of choice is the new Pixel, but i get why Samsung has its fans and OnePlus and all the rest. Im just glad that so much variety exists! Great video.
Samsung has always made a more premium device then Google. The pixel is a mid range phone with a premium price. Pixels have always overheated, has horribly battery life, cellular connectivity issues, bugs after bugs after bugs. Switched to Galaxy and not looking back. Too much frustration and headache from the pixel. Source: was a long-time Pixel user since Pixel 2.
Also source: I myself owned the Z Fold 3 & 4 and both died on me. Made the switch to the Pixel 8 and have had no issues like you mention.. lol. I can see if you were referring to the first couple generations Pixels. But not the newer ones! I definitely prefer them over the Galaxy phones!
@thekingkong209 the pixel 2-5 were very good phones with none of the issues today's pixels face. Pixel 6-9 use tensor chips, which is the source of many Pixel issues (Overheating, battery life, modem). UI experience aside, Pixel hardware and performance just kinda sucks. Look at the benchmarks.. Try to play Warzone mobile with graphics set the the lowest possible option... The real world performance experience is night and day.
@@calebcaster5595 We'll I'm telling you from personal experience, my Pixel 8 has had NONE of those issues you mentioned. I use the crap out of my phone to. No heating issues and battery life is just fine. Nothing to brag or complain about. And performance? Amazing in my experience! I actually find a lot more useful features then I did with Z Fold phones. And if I wanted to play videos, I'd rather use my PC or PS5 lol. Who uses their phone to play video games seriously lol
I don't know. Why buy a foldable if you aren't using it as a foldable? I fully understand samsungs design choice. If you are only using it folded, just buy a regular phone. The front display is only meant for basic tasks.
Iam using it as a foldable. I dont need to open up to the big display to send an email or reply to a text. Typing on the inner display is not as pleasant as the front one. The inner display is there when you need a tablet. Most people use the front display the majority of the time.
If you respond to messages and emails all day, the front display is more effective due to muscle memory and convenience. I only use the inner display when I have spare time and want to see what is happening with social media and news.
@@MatthewMoniz"Most people use the front display majority of the time" Sounds like you just described "the people who doesn't need or like foldable phones"
The point is the large inner screen is available for use when needed, but the outer screen is still usable as a normal phone. It can be used in either mode without a drawback in either mode.
I've had the samsung fold a few years now and my biggest complaint is that I hate how small the front screen is to a point where I don't even use it anymore. And the fact that I already subconsciously open the fold to do anything gets annoying. I wished the front screen was bigger
@LakeNell at the time he commented, the video was only out for 3 minutes and he had commented that a minute ago... so I was saying he didn't even watch the video yet, just insta commented that
Great review/comparison as always! Add the newest oneplus open (crimson) to pt 2 of this comparison please! Would love to see an in depth comparison of all 3 in terms of Hinge Quality, performance, battery life, camera, and multi-tasking. Am a power-user and I’ve been wanting to buy a foldable for some time now because of the multi-tasking features but I’m super skeptical of the previously mentioned categories because it just feels wiser to use something like the s24 Ultra without having to compromise on build quality (hinges), camera reliability, software bs, battery life or performance… Would be great to multitask more but that means nothing if am paying more $ for a compromise in any one of those areas.
I bought the Z Fold 6 for three reasons: 1. The form factor of the phone makes sense for me. I don't want a phone, I want an hybrid device that folds. Holding it in one hand folded is so much more comfortable than a regular phone. Yes, it is slightly skinnier than your average phone, but for me I know see these as too wide. 2. The software is top notch. Samsung knows what they're doing, and other foldables may have incredible hardware and sizes, they are clearly lagging behind in this regard. 3. The S Pen on a foldable is for me the distinctive aspect of this phone that made me buy it. Drawing on the go without a tablet while still being able to have a good real estate to draw stuff is great. The S22 Ultra (and any other Note phone) feels awkward to use with a pen in my opinion.
Im coming from the S22 Ultra and its a breath of fresh air to be able to have some decent one-handed use without risking dropping my phone just to adjust my hand. Maybe just a tad bit wider would be okay
Don't get me wrong, the pixel was nice. Exterior screen was cooler but also less easier to use but the deal breaker for me was OS. Samsung is wayyy more optimized for multitasking which is the entire reason I purchased this phone. Fold OS has a bit of ways to go. Battery is way better on fold too
Thanks I appreciate it! If I have time i might do it but im pretty swamped with other devices coming up. I have another foldable review coming out on the weekend.
I have both. I love the voice to text on the Pixel 9 pro fold(P9PF). On the Galaxy z fold 6 (GZF6) the voice to text doesn't add the periods and question marks automatically. The front screen of the P9PF is boss!
A lot of us got the phone for Manga/comics and media consumption in general. the larger screen makes it a LOT easier to read things. As for performance most people who are gaming aren't doing it on device anymore if they care THAT much. They are likely streaming from their gaming PC. The game looks WAY better and also the battery life on the device is MUCH better than gaming locally. Also having 12TB of games on your PC from many consoles and steam and all that is a lot better than being limited to a few android games and a small storage capacity at that. EDIT: you also didn't bring up a lot of the crazy useful AI features the pixel has. Not just the photo stuff but the stuff that helps day to day. The AI answering scam calls for you to filter them, restoring blurry photos, gemini etc. The voice to text is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better as well. I have a 24 ultra and the pixel 7 and even on that it was better on the pixel let alone the fold I have coming in the mail.
I've been using my PIxel 9 Pro fold for 4 days now. I upgraded it from the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and I have noticed a few things. The first thing I noticed is how much better the Pixel feels in my hand compared to the Z fold 5. I feel like I've gone back to a normal phone with a usable front screen. The second is that I wish the Pixel 9 Pro Fold's corners were less round and more usable. The pixel software is nice but feels dated in many ways and is buggy at times. It is however, really nice to get a device that doesn't have multiple apps that do the same thing, lol. Overall, so far, I feel like the Pixel 9 Pro is a device whose screens have been designed to be used 50/50 whereas the Fold always felt like a device whose screens were designed to be used 20/80 with the 20% being the smaller screen. The best way I can explain this is that when I was setting up my Z fold 5 (not my fisrt foldable) I used the largers internal screen for the majority of the setup whereas I did teh entire setup of the Pixel 9 Pro fold using only the smaller external screen. I fact, I never even opened the device until it was fully setup from an installation and signing into apps etc point of view.
@@MatthewMoniz I would love to think they would but they seem rather tied into the form factor they've been using now for quite a few versions of the fold with only minor changes between each version.
I've been a pixel fan for years...but been questioning if I want to jump ship the past week or so...but Google always have been in front. They also are a company not shy as offering deals - I've finally purchased my first fold with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold - £300 off in the UK due to Black Friday.
Z fold all the way. Dex it's just so good, and even if folded it's thinner, when it's open watching 16:9 TH-cam or other media is the same real state size with smaller black borders.
Specifically regarding the power button placement, coming from an iPhone, I find the Pixel placement to be more natural for me as the iPhone power button is mounted higher up as well. I should note, the Pixel is my first folder and my first Android since a P30 Pro. I wasn't sure about the 9 Pro Fold, but after having access to that giant inner display, I couldn't go back to my iPhone (or S24 Ultra, my other consideration due to sales happening for Black Friday0
ZFold 6 is more refined. Outer display size is perfect imo, easy to grab and reach around, also gives a unique narrow look, unlike any other phone. I don't want it to look like I'm holding two phones.
It's just so bad that it's still gen 6 and look at honor magic v3, vivo, oneplus which are gen 1 and 2 and already ar far superior in many way vs samsung. They are just trying to make as much money and change as little as possible. Like tha cameras lol thoose are so bad
Your videos are turning to be one of the best on the YT Tech space! The length, the tone, the level of information, the editing, the advices given,…I think you found your identity and a concept to be sufficiently distinctive from the others. Congrats!
Looked at both and went with the 9 Pro Fold. The outside screen was the deal breaker for me. The outside screen on the 9 Pro Fold is as usable as any non-fold device.
Excellent video, I’ve been with Apple forever, but I’ve been wanting one of these old phones. Was hoping Apple would come out with one, but nope thank you
Thanks for mentioning the dimensions. At 8" on the Google Pixel Fold Phone why Samsung doesn't measure up on making an 8" inner display is beyond me. I hate how narrow they still are on the main screen. I have both the LG V60 and LG G8X both with the second screen cases. The second screen is mainly off but I hold it in my left hand to type & at 90° with the screen off it is my palm and thumb rest. It is so much more comfortable to type on with the second screen partially open than folded all the way back. I can also hold my phone open like a book. When I am ready upgrade to a pure foldable a Google Pixel Phone is what I want. I have a Galaxy Tab FE 10" with a pen included and I still haven't used it yet just even play with it.
I chose wisely. Got a killer deal on the pixel fold on a employee pricing plan. I personally would have preferred the z fold, but i am definitely very pleased with the pixel fold.
How did you become such a great speaker, that’s what I want to work on in 2025 if I take video of myself and watch it over and keep trying over again maybe I’ll get better
Did he say the fold 6 wasn't anything new? It is far thinner and lighter than the 4 and 5. It also closes flat, no more taco. Tons of stuff like that. I almost never use the front display
I think samsung should keep making small screen phones but also add an ultra or plus version with bigger screen because its just preference I hate but some people love it
I use my z fold 6 for work and home life and I love the slim factor when it's closed. It's great for quick things and talking on the phone and great for slipping in the pocket. I don't want a normal candy bar phone when it's closed. I liked smaung one ui a lot too
@@kfx3907 so don't get me wrong I like Samsung foldable phones too. I've always liked the pixel launcher and camera features a bit more. Whilst Samsung is very technically advanced. I like the ease of use on the pixel. Plus if you wanted to it's extremely easy to root a pixel and de-google it. Which I like my privacy. It's wayyy harder to do that with a Samsung. I'm mostly more on the pixel side because it's what I know the best. But if you prefer Samsung you should obviously go with that. At least you're not an Apple user lol.
7 Years of update for both devices is pretty cool, but having been in in Telecom industry for 13 years, I'm comfortable saying that I don't see the point, especially for the Pixel. These devices tends to be so unreliable that keeping one over 2-3 years is an achievement by itself 😅
Yes just got an update that crashes my zfold4 saying major software error and now need a new phone. No support. Also all over forums is this same issue. Literally my phone was perfect 6 days ago until an update happened while I was sleeping. Crazy almost like they will force u to upgrade thru updates. Of course they can offer years knowing all be forced in 2 years max
I had the fold before and man the small screen us hard to use the typing was rhe buggest deal breaker for me got rid of it right away for a pixel phone. Now im considering getting the pixel fold for my business
Samsung's fold is near perfect if they would just upgrade the camera. I wasn't going to upgrade to the 6 from my 5 but was given one as a replacement when I broke my zf5. Making the cover screen just a tad wider made the aspect ratio of the keyboard much better while still being able to one hand it easily. The size is perfect and I hope they don't change it.
Don't waste your money on a foldable phone if you are going to use the front display most of the time. Besides I only picked up my first Z Fold when they came out with the pen so obviously I wouldn't consider any phone that doesn't have one. Somehow there's a weird complaint that the pen doesn't work on the front display when almost all other foldables don't have a pen at all.
@andyH_England That's why I said almost all. But I think Samsung was first and since was happy with the Fold 3 recently took advantage of their unbeatable trade in deal to upgrade to the 6. But my point is that a lot of the complaints about the Fold 6 are just stretching a bit. My biggest surprise is that these are still so expensive which understandably results in higher expectations
@@dgross2009 there are many reasons why the Fold 6 disappoints but the dealbreaker for me is the front display and once they fix that then I will put them on my shortlist again. But at the moment it’s no thank you. 🙂↔️
Just got the z fold 6 and am actually surprised on how much i love the cover screen, something I didn't expect, especially aftre the reviews. Am 70% using cover screen for everything and 30% main screen Watching videos. I prefere typing on cover screen than the main. It's just so easy to use and very manegable.
Watching this on the z fold 6. I have the z fold 2, 3, 4, skipped 5 and got the 6. I love the fold series but I'm considering switching to the next pixel fold
tested both of them and the total package on the fold 6 is better for my personal use. google fold is a good challanger, but lack of software tuning for that format and in the end the processor on the pixel is to weak for that pricing.
If Samsung would just make a folding phone with similar dimensions to any of the other book foldables, it would be perfect. The original Pixel Fold had the best form factor, in my opinion, because it opened in landscape, making it act like a tablet and not a BIG phone.
I was dead set on getting the OnePlus Open when it was first offered for presale but I was still paying for my Pixel 7 Pro 512GB and I'd been using Samsung phones since the Note 4, then the Note 9, and then the Note 10+ 5G and I got the Pixel 7 and I'm surprised how much more I like it than all the Samsung phones and I did have an HTC Incredible in the past too that I loved and obviously it's not a Samsung and sure the stylus was always great until it broke in half but I plan on ordering the OnePlus Open 2 whenever they're ready to release it and I'm not sure how many years of software updates they offer but as long as the phone still works great after a couple of years I wouldn't see the point in getting rid of it.
Every reviewer I've seen, keeps saying that the pixel fold doesn't look as nice because of that edge thing, as if it was fact. But, as looks are completely subjective, I actually really like the way it looks and that it allows one side to be rounded of.
As a fold4 user, you pretty much need to get comfortable swipe typing on the cover screen. It's actually quite nice, but normal typing is just trash. The google fold actually looks quite nice.. but I think im still gonna hold out for the 25 ultra
commenting at the beginning of the video. my Z Fold 6 will be here in 2-4 hours. the 256gb was 1499 last night so I jumped on it. I wanted the pixel fold but the Fold 6 was a good deal.
Can u pls share the physical problems with the opening and closing of fold phones, where phone's software is causing serious problems, shutting off etc...
They did that side bezel as a shortcut they didn't do it to make the inner display bigger. They could have gotten rid of that and made the front display way bigger with Samsung bezels, and the inside screen could have been 8.3" if they did 2024 bezels
Will you be able to use just any stylus with the pixel? The S Pen is what will win me over with the Z fold if the pixel wouldn't take a Bluetooth pencil.
I'll be honest, I loved bigger phones until I realized my hands LOVE the fold 5 and even 6 size. It's perfect and easy to use one-handed, vs my s24 Ultra...I usually always dropped it trying to do one-handed.
For me its more about repairability in the event of something going wrong. Samsung is more accepted in local repair shops i guess than the rare Google phones which seem to have zero presence in stores.
Pixel 9 Pro Fold or Galaxy Z Fold 6? Which one would you choose?

Well I have both and there's nothing like having a foldable. You get the best of both worlds. A regular phone and a tablet that's sick for media consumption and business. I like the Pixel Fold a lot! Selling my Z Fold now because this phone is so good. Z Fold is very barrow

Its a little better this year but i still hate it. Easier to carry though!
Yes, its perfect.
Yeah it's perfect now, I don't want two s24 ultra phones put together that's just too big. Only thing they need to add is the flagship cameras and bigger battery.
@@MatthewMonizhow about how much lighter the z fold 6 is?? THAT IS HUGE!
I have way less typing errors on the front screen of the fold 4 than I do on my s22 ultra.
Same for pixel there are a lot better features that it has but samsung doesnt its down to preference if you like thr advantages of one ui choose it if you prefer the pixels one then choose it
I was thinking the exact same thing. He seemed to totally contradict himself in the conclusion
For sure! Variety is great
Not with that skinny 18:9 ratio screen

I have the Fold 6 and love it! 😍 Such a leap from the 4 in actual use. Multitasking with floating windows makes a desktop experience with an external keyboard on the inner screen. The only thing I miss is having the s-pen inside the phone, but the competitors don't have one at all. 🤷♂️ The front screen size is perfect one handed and the whole package feels very pocketable. 🙌
Which case are you using ? About to get the delivery of fold 6 and it’s daunting hard to find a suitable case
Thank you.

I love the galaxy folds specifically for the single hand mode. Typing this with a galaxy s10e.
It's not just the width, but the aspect ratio
Only the width is equal. It's very tall and the aspect ratio is completely different. Fold 6 is not a mini phone, it's a tall narrow standard phone and it's also the only option from Samsung. You can choose plus and max sizes for iPhones. I can see what you're going for in terms of width arguments but the people who loved and praised iPhone mini were probably referring to the overall size and not just the width.

Agree. I use it on large display mode all the time.
@@MatthewMoniz"Most people use the front display majority of the time" Sounds like you just described "the people who doesn't need or like foldable phones"

I bought the Z Fold 6 for three reasons:
Battery is way better on fold too
I've smartened up! Is there any chance of Honer V3 vs 9 Pro fold? I like your reviews, by the way.
Thanks I appreciate it! If I have time i might do it but im pretty swamped with other devices coming up. I have another foldable review coming out on the weekend.
V3 looks a nice device, waiting for mine to come, they have been swamped with orders in the UK.
Ya the form factor is just much better with the Pixel 9 Pro FOld. I'm confident Samsung will switch to something similar next year.
@@MatthewMoniz I would love to think they would but they seem rather tied into the form factor they've been using now for quite a few versions of the fold with only minor changes between each version.
Really good video Matt
I've been a pixel fan for years...but been questioning if I want to jump ship the past week or so...but Google always have been in front. They also are a company not shy as offering deals - I've finally purchased my first fold with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold - £300 off in the UK due to Black Friday.
Z fold all the way. Dex it's just so good, and even if folded it's thinner, when it's open watching 16:9 TH-cam or other media is the same real state size with smaller black borders.
Tbh sounds like z fold is simply better
@@timetraveler_0 the narrow screen for a reason so when it's open it's not a square like all the others and more pocketable
Congrats!
I'm sold on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold thanks to your review here!!!
Looked at both and went with the 9 Pro Fold. The outside screen was the deal breaker for me. The outside screen on the 9 Pro Fold is as usable as any non-fold device.
I would’ve gave it to the pixel fold but for the tensor g4 to be weaker than a the snapdragon gen 2 is crazy
How is it crazy? Everyone who knows about phones know those chips suck
Zfold 6. I don't type. I swipe on the front screen. I love the form factor and the one-handed use capability.
I'm not a fan of foldable phones, but the Galaxy Z Fold6 has the best design on the market right now.
As a once z fold user, nah
As a current Z fold 6 user, totally agree.
Lies
The fold looks the worst lol. Especially when compared to honors fold
Agreed
I think samsung should keep making small screen phones but also add an ultra or plus version with bigger screen because its just preference I hate but some people love it
love my 9 pro fold, use the inner screen more than the outside screen to be honest
I use the inner display for reading as well, it's quite useful
I use my z fold 6 for work and home life and I love the slim factor when it's closed. It's great for quick things and talking on the phone and great for slipping in the pocket.
I don't want a normal candy bar phone when it's closed.
I liked smaung one ui a lot too
I like the pixel fold. Only because I'm so used to the pixel software. I like the bigger screen too.
When it comes to foldable software, i think Samsung is still leading with those features and etc..
At least you're not an Apple user lol.
pixel fold 9, love the wider front screen. i am worried about dust getting into there
7 Years of update for both devices is pretty cool, but having been in in Telecom industry for 13 years, I'm comfortable saying that I don't see the point, especially for the Pixel.
The Magic V3 has a pen that works on both displays!
Awesome video! Liked and subscribed!
Thank you!! Welcome to the channel
I have the s24+ but lowkey tempted to get the fold 6 should i get ??? What yall think
trade it in. The screen space is worth the upgrade
Went with Z Fold 6 1TB, can currently be had at Samsung store for $1k without trade-in. Honestly a no brainer for me.
You wear your foldable cases the right way. Thin, minimal and only on the back. Slap a screen protector on that front screen and you're golden.
Exactly! having the front one adds more bulk and you really dont need it.
@@MatthewMonizUntil you do 😅
Watching this on the z fold 6.
I'm really curious as to why samsung doesn't give their fold phones a width (or aspect ratio) around that of a normal smartphone.
If Samsung would just make a folding phone with similar dimensions to any of the other book foldables, it would be perfect. The original Pixel Fold had the best form factor, in my opinion, because it opened in landscape, making it act like a tablet and not a BIG phone.
The Pixel Fold Pro is an eye-sore. I love my Fold 5. Feels good in my hand and I love the inner screen. Nothing's perfect people.
Thinking about returning my f9 pro fold and going back to zfold 6 just because of One UI
I think you are making this "Z fold vs something else" contents only to mock Samsung...
Can u pls share the physical problems with the opening and closing of fold phones, where phone's software is causing serious problems, shutting off etc...
man that video quality was actually such a huge difference
Mother of all the folds = Samsung
Excited to get one this year. Plus the design is niiice.
With the release of the zfold 6 special edition i cant wait for the zfold 7 a true size phone as thick as a s24 ultra when looking at its side.
I found making the front display keyboard bigger makes helps a lot on the z fold
Can you please provide the wallpapers that you used in the video? thanks!
No the pixel does not work with a stylus
I'll be honest, I loved bigger phones until I realized my hands LOVE the fold 5 and even 6 size. It's perfect and easy to use one-handed, vs my s24 Ultra...I usually always dropped it trying to do one-handed.
Great review
Thanks! I appreciate it
So in you're opinion, are they better than the oneplus open? Moving on from my zfold 5 and everything is pointing me to the Oneplus open
For me its more about repairability in the event of something going wrong. Samsung is more accepted in local repair shops i guess than the rare Google phones which seem to have zero presence in stores.
I have zero issues with the front display. I like it better than using a standard flagship, and I have big hands too.
Fold 6 for me. I like One UI better than stock android. I do hope Samsung will widen the front cover in the future though.
