I thought he just started to sculpt and will finish the model. But later realized he just made a reference for his model and did poly modeling after sculpting. This is just amazing. You need extra ordinary visualization power to do this.

I considered this timelapse a tutorial. This single video has improved my own skills at blender.
What's amazing is the way you cheat details for the hair with a simple node setup. I never thought about doing it that way. These are not tutorials but I still learn a lot.
Only mistake I see is that her bird pin doesnt move with her or her clothes.

Tip:
subtle eye movements can make your character feel more alive
To add onto this for more people who see; people usually look at something with their eyes before the head fully turns, along with this, your eyes open a bit more when they're turned to the side.

And also, this is not really a tutorial! There are plenty of those around on TH-cam :)
(Also small tip, learn how to use the sculpting tools in blender, then watch any tutorial about sculpting heads (doesn't have to be in blender))
@@DoctorORBiT Actually, a time-lapse with shortcut keys on can also help some people (intermediate modelers). Thanks to the beauty of TH-cam, we can slow down the video and then see the process more clearly. Even if it's a time-lapse.

you can go frame by frame using the ">" key, and just do what he does. it'll take like a week, but you'll get the same results more or less.

The 2.8x series of blender has really upped their sculpting game. It's quite amazing. I still have to work in Maya, but I sculpt in Blender.

Yep, the steps are sculpt first, then retopology, then texture/rig/etc...
I was extremely enlightened...
Use the sculpt to see if your character is shaped exactly as you wanted...
Done? now the polygons!!!

It can take weeks or months to model such a high poly detailed 3d model.
Well this video is literally showing the process. If you want to follow it watch it in 0.25 speed. If you want to model this type of detailed model you surely aren't (or must not be) a beginner. And given you're not a beginner you should be able to follow it in 0.25 speed pretty easily.

Amazing, honestly just want a tutorial on how to achieve this type of hair.
check out tutorials for hair cards. Thats what he is doing. There are a lot of tutorials to achieve it using xgen im sure they are some done in blender as well. The main idea is you make basic mesh for the hair. Then you uv map it to a texture with a bunch of strand textures, then you just move each plane to a strand area that works for your model.
Vashie I’ve got maya but trying to learn xgen is just so stressful. The tutorials I’ve seen with blender are always so bad( no offense). Thanks tho.
