  • How to unthaw and melt the inverted iceberg in your ice maker. Unfortunately, this is a bad episode on repeat with our Samsung refrigerator (model listed below):
    2016 Samsung 4DR Refrigerator (Model# RF23J9011SR):
    The ice maker freezes over every 2 to 3 months. In this video, I show you how to setup 'Force defrost'. The process was successful and the ice maker is back up and running. However, you may have to complete this process 3 or 4 times to ultimately break up the ice.

    If you need to change out your ice maker manifold, you can research the part and find it using the link below:

    Thank you! We've been having issues with no ice for a while and not able to open the ice maker. Couldn't find the correct sequence to get into the Forced Defrost mode. Following your instructions we have been successful. Helpful to know that it took 4 defrost cycles for you. Hopefully we won't have to replace the ice maker.

      Hello @KelliAMM 😀 I'm happy my video helped you out with the process. True story, I just ran the defrost mode the other day and it took 6 cycles to breakup the ice this time. The struggle is REAL but at least the ice maker is back up and working again right. Thank you for your comment and for watching 😀

    Thanks. I've had issues since day 1 of getting this fridge. Tech never showed me this. Now it's working again. So much for that tech.

      Hello Johnnie 😃 The freezer is still giving us the blues with freezing up now and again. We just run a 'Force Defrost' cycle when that happens to help break up the ice. But yes, it certainly beats having a tech come out - thanks for watching and for your comment.

      Hello @RKSm8 😀 I'm happy you found the video helpful. I have to repeat this process every 3 to 4 months and it takes a while to get through each 30 min. cycle, and the beeping, But, thank you for your comment and for watching 😀

      Hello Derek 😃 The key for us was doing four "FD=Force Defrost" cycles. Thank you for your comment and for watching!

    Thank you, thank you. I just found your video. We are in the middle of the first defrost cycle - what an annoying beep!

    • @HomebodyReview

      Hello Juliana 😃 You're very welcome. And yes, the beeping is beyond annoying but a necessary evil - it took 4 cycles to finally thaw out the iceberg. Thank you for your comment and for watching 😃

      @@HomebodyReview Could it potentially take even more cycles than that? we moved into our new house which came with this fridge. For all I know the ice maker was frozen when the floor refinishers moved it outside. it was out there for a solid 2 weeks so it definitely thawed. They moved it back in two days ago and the ice drawer is already frozen solid. After four cycles, it still barely budges.

      @@UrbyTuesday Hello UrbyTuesday 😃 Yes...it could potentially take more than four cycles to thaw out. Each cycle runs for approx. 30 mins (4 cycles / 2 hours) so it really depends on how much time you have to spare. I actually need to complete this process myself because are ice chamber has frozen over yet again. 😒 I hope adding some extra cycles works out for you. Thank you for your comment and for watching. 😃

    I believe cause is sensor - yellow cable with white cap - at the back just below icemaker. The defrost seems to work as force defrost broke up ice but you should not have to do this. I had same issue with fridge ice at the back - new fridge sensor solved ice build up so would hope new sensor for ice compartment will also stop ice build up.

      Hello Martin😃 We actually had a tech come out and install a new part. However, within a few months, it started freezing up again. And yes, we should not have to do this but the ice builds up less frequently with the force defrost, and its been working pretty well. Thanks for watching and for your comment. 😃

    Currently on my first defrost cycle as I’m having the same issue with my fridge. Will this affect the food in my fridge and freezer?

    • @HomebodyReview
      @HomebodyReview  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello @alanaobrien8801 😀I just completed 4 to 5 defrost cycles (which will not affect your fridge or freezer) to unthaw another iceberg, for our ice maker the other day. The setting "Fd" will engage the heating loop for the ice maker, but thank you for your comment and for watching 😀

      Hello swirayn 😃 If there is no chime after selecting 'Fd= Force Defrost'...you may have a technical issue in which case, you should reach out to customer service:

    I have this model. I am hearing a fan noise (slight humming) now. When I open the fridge, I can hear the fan come to a stop... clicking. I'm thinking it's ice build up. Will this process for forced defrost also defrost the fridge?

    • @HomebodyReview
      @HomebodyReview  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Kevin 😃 This process is only for defrosting the freezer....it does not have any affect on the fridge. There might be some issues with the fan itself; however, I would definitely reach out to Samsung customer service for further information.
      Thank you for watching and for your comment 😃
