It was a Spiritual revival . That's what Bill and Gloria Gaither do. They have some of the Best Christian singers and they travel all over doing these Concerts/Revivals
He didn't open his mouth to sing Harri. He opened his mouth to share the Glory of the Incarnation of our Savior. His voice is a gift from God which the Lord fills.
You ought to hear him sing..." Let Freedom Ring"... But "O Holy Night" is my absolute favorite.. And pianist..The late Anthony Burger..was a superb player. Both David and Anthony are truely blessed by God!
AMEN!!! And I CONTINUE to request from people who do “Reaction” music videos, for them to show this Music Video performed LIVE: Sandy Parker “A Baby Changes Everything”. By any chance, have you ever watched her video? P.S. HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY to you AND your family members!
The guy on the piano, his name is Anthony Burger and is passed away for some years now but is still my favorite pianist!!!! Can you imagine what Heaven sounds like with Anthony playing the piano????
It was, in fact, a spiritual gathering. Bill & Gloria Gaither are song writers and singers. About 30 years ago Bill started bringing all the Southern Gospel Singers together for "Homecoming Concerts". They performed across the US, Canada, going as far as Israel. Bill also organized The Gaither Vocal Band, basically a quartet of phenominal voices ... look for "Let Freedom Ring", recorded after 9/11 at Carnegie Hall. David Phelps graduated from Baylor Univeristy with a degree in opera.
It was not just the person, David Phelps and his piano player and the background rather, the gospel message that the lyrics of the song presents. Our Lord, Jesus Christ, His word, his grace and love.
AMEN!!! The same thing about a song anyone could listen to at any time of the year is a Music Video performed LIVE: Sandy Parker “A Baby Changes Everything”. I have been requesting for 3 years for people who do “Reaction” music videos to show her video. Maybe you have watched her video also? P.S. HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY to you AND your family members!!
This is my favorite Christmas song and I have never heard it performed with more conviction, passion and faith before. This is a very powerful, spiritual song that should be and performed in a way to honor the birth of Christ the Savior, as this man did, and not merely entertain.
@@Spo-Dee-O-Dee The Bible is full of examples of God using non believers to fulfill His will. Who knows how it might have affected the lives of the people God used. God is capable of anything and everything.
The Pianist Anthony Burger was one of the most amazing pianists in the business. He passed away much too early, during a Homecoming Concert cruise. After an amazing performance, he collapsed and died. David Phelps is one of the most powerful and dynamic tenors in the world today. He is a graduate of Baylor University. Master of Vocal Performance i believe. He has sung off and on with the Gaither Vocal Band and also has a solo career as well. Great writer, musician and singer. He also has talented children as well. If you'd like to see a truly moving and powerful performance, watch David Phelps and his Daughter Maggie Beth sing "Water" I promise it with jerk tge heart strings! Cheers!
The pianist, Anthony Burger, died suddenly in his 40's. As a child he suffered extensive burns to his hands and his parents were told he'd never have 'normal use' - so he was encouraged to take up the piano to maintain some dexterity.
I've followed David Phelps for years, and in my opinion is the best singer on the planet. His control, vocal range, and vibrato is as good as you can get; and he sings many other genre's.
There are people who put feeling into their performance, then there are people who feel and believe in what they are preforming. You could feel his faith flowing through his song
Have mercy, have mercy it never gets old and it never gets better than this. Listening to David Phelps makes you know God is real. He has given this man a true gift! God's continued blessings to all!
The difference with David is that he believes and more importantly, that he truly lives, ..what he is singing. And that is what comes through in every performance whether it it is recorded or live. I am 63 years old and I have never heard anyone better....in any any genre. I have seen seen David 11 times live, been to his home, met him and his family...first hand knowledge here. . Not just impressions from a few songs. There is no one better! Not on the planet today!
David certainly has a gift from GOD. The Pianist was also gifted by our Holy God. These two men are" instruments, used of GOD to proclaim HIS GOSPEL"!!!!! Listen to the song David wrote "The end of the beginning". WOW! It is also most powerful! GOD Bless you!
Gospel singer classically trained. One of the best tenor singers in gospel music. Have you seen a tenor singer who opens his mouth wide open to hit those high notes? Some of the world's best singers in the choir behind him.
David I feel is God's Angel to bring the Holy Spirit to our lives through his music. This is truly the greatest tenor singing O Holy Night to honor the birth of our Christ Jesus our Savoir. What as blessing to all.
Anthony Burger is - or was - one of the most amazing gospel pianists in the world. Sadly, he passed away after suffering a major coronary during a performance on a cruise. When he was just a toddler, about 8 months old, he burned his hands so badly, his parents were told he would never have use of his hands again. Happily, God had other plans for this remarkable young man, and healed him in such a miraculous way that his parents were looking for a piano teacher for him at age 3. The world lost a great talent and a great heart when Anthony was taken from us, but his legacy lives on in his many many recordings and videos. Check out his video of "Goodbye, world, goodbye.
That performance is 21 years old and people are still talking about it. Best vocal tenor of my lifetime without question, and I got to see him perform it live not long ago. One of the best days of my life.
When you whole-heartedly, fully, and most definitely believe the words you are singing and you have the God given greatest tenor voice ever in our day, this is what you get. An anointed God honoring moment in musical history! Thank You Father in heaven!
there are so many artists who cover this song, and they do a good job but none of them move me to tears the way David Phelp's does. How it must have been to be in that room, with that voice and all that power and belief flowing through it.
I agree. I dont think they would have forgotten being there for that performance. I cant watch this (and I have watched it A LOT) without the goosebumps, the tears, the overwhelming feeling of the spirit, it must have been amazing to be there. He is a gifted singer. Annointed by God and he means, and feels every word he sings. I dont know how anyone cannot be moved by him. Yes, Anthony was amazing too. Great reaction.
The singer is David Phelps. The pianist is the late great Anthony Burger. Bill Gaither is the older man bringing David back out to acknowledge the applause at the end. Bill's wife Gloria is the blonde lady with her hands raised at minute 5:15. Bill and Gloria are both in the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame. They are legendary songwriters in the field of gospel music. Bill has put on a series of Homecoming Concerts over the last three decades featuring stars and legends of gospel music. He also sings with the Gaither Vocal Band, of which David Phelps was formerly a member.
Yeah the old guy right behind him is George Younce.. bass of The Cathedral Quartet.. my favorite growing up!. Both he, Glen Payne, and pianist Roger Bennett have all gone on…miss them
The people sitting on the stage behind him are the creme de la creme in the American Gospel arena. The beauty and emotion of the song was enhanced by the Spirit of God. You will be blessed to delve into Gospel music.
Just saw him live. He’s 52 now and better than ever. Check out his channel or search him on TH-cam as a solo artist and with the Gaither Vocal Band. His library is extensive.
Bill and Gloria Gaither hold these type of concerts. They have many people sing and sing themselves. They all seem full of the holy spirit when they sing. They are all wonderful!
David Phelps sings with many almost equals in the Gaither group of concerts that ran over about 50 years, and still continue. The men that often sing with him do not disappoint.
By far the best version performed by any tenor ever. You don't just hear it, you can feel it. The song just permeates your being and makes your spirit leap to rejoice.
Thank you... and even after you hear it 5000 times at any time of the year, if you need that spiritual infilling, here it is. Truly he sings with angels. And tha piano player is Awesome.
Just to finish that. Gaither Vocal Band have won numerous Dove Awards. David Phelps was part of The Gaither Vocal Band for well over a decade, travelling around the world with them. So the Gaithers as a couple have more than half a century of singing and writing songs that spread the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
I'm not a Christian, but I've loved Christmas music since I was a child. Im 61yrs old now and still love to hear this staple and sung so beautifully by one of the best Christian artists on the planet.

On the piano was my dear friend Anthony Burger. Sadly he passed away at the age of 44 on a cruise playing for the Gaither Vocal Band. David sang with the Gaithers.
There's definitely no one like David Phelps. His voice combined with his conviction will move you every time you hear him. He's such a humble and nice guy also. Hope to see you react to more of his live performances. You'll be blown away.
I lost my dad in September so this is my first Christmas without him and the 4th without my mom...this was one of their favourite Christmas songs and I couldn't even watch the entire video because I kept bawling. David Phelps has that effect. The piano player is the late Anthony Burger.
There will never be another version of this, my favorite, for me. Gaither family is a Church based in Mobile Alabama USA. "a church community focused on creating God-centered families" David could have made millions in recording contracts, but chose to sing for the lord. (The piano player, I have read on other reactions has since passed away). How can one not be moved, if not by the Grace of God then by David's beautiful voice. His daughter also sings for the Gaither Family. I am not deeply religious, but I keep God in my heart. Great reaction 😎

I've seen David sing this live numerous times, including last Friday, it's always magnificent, even now at 52 years of age. He sings Whitney's "I Have Nothing" at the age of 52, it's amazing!!
Love David Phelps! This version of O Holy Night still stands as one of the greatest renditions ever even after over 20 years since it came out..... Much like Whitney Houston's Star Spangled Banner it will remain a true classic and testimony to the power and talent of pure vocal artists
David Phelps, one of the best tenors I have heard. I believe he sings under the anointing of the Holy Spirit and is therefore able to touch your soul in that special way. Pray God will continue to bless David's voice as he ministers to us in song.
David Phelps is the best tenor alive.

Greatest male vocalist in the last 100 years. NO question. NO doubt.
No retakes, no auto tune, no gimmicks with mixing..just a great talent praising his God!!
It’s not him as a person, but he’s so filled with the Holy Spirit when he sings that it just oozes out onto everyone else. He’s so anointed by God!

Thats exactly it!

This is how you describe it. Heaven came down and Glory filled my soul! Welcome to the presence of God people!
David Phelps is the most God annointed singer of our time. You can't sing like that without God in your heart.
It’s God speaking his gospel thru David. Everyone will bow to Jesus and confess Him as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
It was not just the person, David Phelps and his piano player and the background rather, the gospel message that the lyrics of the song presents. Our Lord, Jesus Christ, His word, his grace and love.

I have always thought O Holy Night was a beautiful song. However, it takes a great voice to do it justice. David is the best I have heard sing it.
When a person believes what they are singing it shows. He is anointed!!
The Holy Spirit was in that auditorium that night. David Phelps was incredible. I can't watch him sing O Holy Night without crying joyful tears!

What you witnessed is God inhabiting the praise of song! Can you imagine eternity feeling God's presence like this??? Acts 2:38 & 39.
Ur reaction while critiquing Phelps was perfect and moving.
Holy spirit showed up and showed out.Thank you David for letting him use you the way he does.
