His story is amazing, for those that don't know it. Truly one of the divine choosing over medicine.
If you start with Davids music you never stops! He is out of this world good. You cannot believe how good each new song is.
The "icing on the cake" of this most powerful performance is how it ended. After David had absolutely poured himself into this song - NO doubt empowered by the Holy Spirit - and by his delivery brought focus to each and every word and thought of this message, in the end, as he was brought forward by Bill Gaither during the applause, the evident humility on David's face spoke loudly and clearly that David could care less for any personal recognition but instead, he had given himself to worship and to bring focus and glory to his heavenly Father above: a vessel fit for use and a conduit for the worship and praise needed and deserved!
I have seen David live 11 times now, twice at concerts at his home in the barn...I have met him at least 8 times now and met his mom and dad too. A very gracious and humble man and family. As far as singing ability goes, he is, in my mind, the best male vocalist in the world and has been for at least twenty years.. And guys...based on my experiences meeting him and seeing him live so often, it's not really even close. He is unbelievably gifted and uses his gift for God's glory. His power, tone, resonance, clarity, vibrato and his range especially...are totally unmatched.

I was a Worship Leader for 18 years and I have never found a male vocalist with more power, gentleness, resonating tone, heart, and love for God like this man! I got to see the Gaither Vocal Band in Houston, TX several years ago and became a HUGE David Phelps fan. One of the most powerful songs he sings (in my opinion) is 'He's Alive'. You can pick any of David's video's and not be disappointed. Thanks for promoting Christianity, I pray that God will Bless your channel. Amen!!!

Bill Gaither said when David started rocking back and forth you knew he was singing the Spirit and he would have to alter the Gaither Vocal Band performances until David recovered. David and Guy Penrod back up Mark Lowry singing Mary Did You Know at this same show. It was a GREAT Christmas show❣️
This performance was the Alabama Homecoming Friends Christmas performance in Birmingham. It was in theater and Bill said it was taped it was the hottest temperature on record, It was 102 outside and those attending wore their Christmas sweaters. The show was taped October 2002.

I was watching the first Gaither homecoming and they were singing about heaven. Then it hit me… all these people are dead now they are in heaven. Wow.

My reaction was like "WHATTTT?" when I first heard this years ago, and I keep returning year after year. Single handedly, the best rendition ever of "O Holy Night". Out of this world and out of this galaxy.

I have followed David Phelps for years and he OWNS O' Holy Night!
David Phelps fully believes these lyrics that he is singing here! God knows this and covers over this performance with Holy Spirit anointing. Giving this performance a value of eternal worth as opposed to only a moment in time worth. David has a gift that no other singer I have heard possesses. Then he faithfully uses that gift to point others to the gift giver in Jehovah Jirah and His Son Christ Jesus.

No more night, is in my opinion one of the best songs that he sings. It’s always like he is telling a story .
Yeah. It's a unique, style, as if he's talking and then eases into singing. Even the talking is in tune! ('The end if the beginning ' and 'He's alive') We thank God for such great talent. Simply amazing. May God bless David as he uses his talent to touch many even miles and miles away as I am.

Surprised you have never heard of him. He was the high tenor in the Gaither Vocal Band for many years. One of the best tenors on the planet without a doubt. Humble guy, great song writer. His version of Whitney's "I Have Nothing" is another jaw-dropper. Another fantastic song (he wrote) about losing someone to Dementia called "Hello Beautiful" is an amazing song as well. Both are worthy of reactions. There is no shortage of songs that will make you a David Phelps fan!
Bill & Gloria Gaither have been gathering Christian singers together for probably over 30yrs. Bill Gaither finds the most talented and they all sing together. He has launched many careers for those singers on stage. Gaither videos have amazing songs that feed your sound like this song. David is by far the best male singer in the world. You won't find anyone who can control their voice and soar to the heavens when they sing like David Phelps and he's very humble. No showmanship.

Not a church. That's the Alabama Theatre in Birmingham. This was a concert. The folks on stage behind David were the Gaither Homecoming choir, composed of legendary Southern Gospel singers of the past and present. They would all take turns singing, either solo or in different groupings, with the rest of the choir backing them up. Coincidentally, the name of David's recent album release is GameChanger.

GAME t CHANGER......This is my BEST of the THREE. The best of the best.
The video was filmed in August 2000 at the Alabama Theater in Birmingham, Alabama. The reason for this date was for the video to be released in time for Christmas. I remember bc Tony Greene who tells about singing Jingle Bells at a funeral, said that it was the first time he ever wore a sweater in August. Lol. Sadly, he and others are gone from us, as is Anthony Berger who played the piano here.
David Phelps is still singing as powerful as ever, and this is still the best version of O Holy Night ever done. God bless.

David wrote this and tucked it away in the piano bench because he knew it had to be the "right" person to sing it. Twenty years later he realized it was Mary Beth, his daughter that would be singing it. Check it out! "Mary did you know?" sung by Mary Beth Phelps.
He sounds like this EVERY time you see him! Full of worship, love, exultation, and that gift he so willingly and joyfully shares!

David Phelps does No More Night. These Are They. End Of The Beginning. Let Freedom Ring. To name a few. Anthony Burger was the pianist. He went to heaven in 2006. These videos were from the early 2000's when David Phelps joined the Gaither Vocal Band. David is classically trained. He has a five octave range. Amazing Tenor.
I LOVE DAVID'S VERSION OF THIS SONG. I truly believe it may be the greatest vocal performance I've ever seen. When he said how much he loved the first "Fall on Your Knees..." I couldn't help but laugh wondering how he'd react to the final one, which is just towering. It gives my goosebumps every single time.
For me, David is the greatest tenor ever. Check out his new album of original songs, ironically entitled Game Changer. One of the first singles, “Hello Beautiful” is absolutely stunning and emotionally shattering. I have followed him for decades, and as a classically trained vocalist myself, I can tell you, he never disappoints.
Was blessed to see David in Kingsport, TN. Please look up his gifts of No More Night, Nessun Dorma and his version of the Righteous Brothers song Unchained Melody. It created a whole new meaning! He sang those that night, and what a testament to our God!
