I was between flights in the Atlanta airport, thinking Iwas ina handicap bathroom. The toilet was too low and I couldn’t get up. I was afraid of missing my flight. I’m a fairly new subscriber. As a physically disabled man, your channel is outstanding! I grew up around the medical business, so I’ve learned a lot over my 30 plus years of life, but your videos have taught me stuff I hadn’t thought of, which is amazing!! Thank you so much for what you’re doing on your channel. Please keep up the fantastic work. It’s greatly appreciated!
I am 75 and obese, and have always avoided public toilets and low waiting room chairs. I now use the disabled bathrooms, which usually have a side bar, and only sit in chairs,if low, which have arms. Most modern furniture is too low, and leather is inclined to be slippery.Bar stools are out. I have had a taller toilet installed in my home, and it is appreciated by my visitors.
Glad that I found this channel! To accommodate my weight and need for a higher toilet, I ordered a riser for my toilet from Amazon. It is plastic and fits right over the raised toilet seat. It is sturdy plastic with an opening in the front. It costs less than $30.00 and has been a lifesaver. I just another one for my second bathroom. It is really safe and handy. Weight limit is over 325 pounds.
You must have been sent from heaven, I SO needed these instructive, motivational videos from you at this time. I'm am so depressed at the constant pain in my knees and hip from OA. My world has got smaller and smaller and I felt trapped and hopeless. With your encouraging words and exercises specific to my needs I can actually hope now for a better future. I cannot thank you enough. Keep up the wonderful work, the is much need of it, especially in this day and age where in the UK we have thousands on waiting lists for operations. God bless you. 💟
This is a brilliant comment! I am in the UK as well and had one meeting with a physiotherapist and the progress was checked over the phone in 2021. I use a wheelchair for long distances (lupus and OA) and would love to just be able to walk to the bus stop with a cane. I feel that we will learn lots of helpful info on this channel. I have started doing some of the exercises on here. Another YT channel appeared in my feed actually featured a mention of this channel. He is also a doctor of PT and his channel is El Paso Manual Physical Therapy. This is giving me hope when I had lost it. Best of luck to you on your journey! 🙂
I have watched numerous videos with ideas about how to stand up from sitting. This is the first time I have heard a suggestion to stand up quickly rather than slowly. I was very skeptical but decided to give it a try. I was amazed at the difference that one change made. Thank you so much!
It’s a conscious decision….I'd been grimacing…this is gonna hurt. No…..say, this is done. Something I just tried and it’s impressive. I got garden kneeling pads. Not as wide as a place mat, same length, two inches thick. Think I’m on to something, will buy more. Need underneath, rubberized shelf paper strip to keep from slipping on wood floors. Or duct tape strip to keep from slipping. When I stand, I can feel the impression my foot makes in the foam. That is what is being referred to the body. Ouch.
Decades ago, this is what I learned, NOW, I need it and use it and IT WORKS. Sit, lean head toward down over knees chest over thighs and stand from that position. Easy peasy.
@gingerking1866 While this method may work, it isn't building any muscle or range of motion. Her job is a physical therapist. She is trying to help you build your resistance for future. She is taking her time to teach these options so that people fully understand the reasons and methods of doing it.
I am so excited I found you. You have given my my hope back to be able to walk, take stairs and get up from sitting pain-free. And your legs are amazing! Can you give some ankle tricks? I have arthritic ankles and stairs are and issue.
I can tell you, what, I learned as a physically disabled person with a lot of things going on, I learned that what makes it harder to get up is if, their is not enough space, the more space that is around me, the easier it is to get up! Also, I try to sit at higher levels when, all possible,I got myself a chair that sits on a pedestal and, another thing, ( aka / I can’t sit straight up, I mostly have to sit at a 40 degree angle and, same thing when, I sleep) and, if, I travel to my medical appointments because, they are a bit farther away, I have to ride in a van. I avoid trying to create farther damage to my back and, body! Then, I got a standing walker, one the walker is close to my height and, you are actually standing up straight and, you are physically walking and you can go up and down sidewalks with physical ease and, you are getting more physical activity and, one cause, you are looking up and, you don’t have to watch every step your taking and, can pay more attention to your surroundings you can get from one place to another! And, on a standing walker you have a set of bars right there in the back of the seat, so, when, I am sitting in a regular chair those set of bars are at eye level, which, also helps a blot of time avoid needing a extra hand. And, with that it’s helped ease a lot of my back pain! I can tell you, those traditional walkers over time can do some serious damage to the body over time. All these steps, I have taken to some degree has improved and, course their were other factors involved but, because, I am also trying to stay upon keeping that 50lbs off that, I lost more of it this past year and half and, trying to get back to being as physically more active as my health allows. So,yes one there is always hope to get there and, if people can and, are willing to invest what they can to stay on top of their health as much as they possibly can and, what works for them.
I actually bought a " right height " Toilet, because it seems ridiculous thst they EVER made toilets so low to begin with. I avoid low seating , ..I dont find it comfortable, and I purposely purchase furnishings that sit higher, or I use a cushion ( or large pillow) on seating if needed,to fix the " height issue ". I really find your Channel so so helpful, due to injuries on the same side of my body ( the right side, 4 different times over the years ) and how much you have helped , in regards to less pain, more movement and overall feeling better than I have felt in 2 years.... " Thank you" is not really sufficient.. Blessings ~
Awesome advice, Thank you so very much for helping so many people, especially as sometimes it's hard to know if the exercises etc,are going to help or hurt (make our arthritis, etc worse)!! It is great knowing that we can progress and make ourselves and our bodies more mobile😊 Blessings, light and love to all🙏❤️🌟
Thank you for doing this video. I have a problem getting up from low chairs. If I can't find a comfort height toilet, I stand over it to do my business. I've been taking physical therapy to help with being able to get up from chairs. I've noticed an improvement, but physical therapy isn't going to last forever because of insurance limitations. Your video and suggestions will help a lot I just subscribed to your channel.
The real problem is getting down on the low toilets, it’s so scary especially if there’s no counter to help & you feel like you are going to fall & break the toilet or something else like your legs or back😩🥴
YES! I got down on a low toilet, not paying attn & then I went, "Uh, oH, how am I gonna get up from here?" I had been practicing before & I closed my eyes & went for it... My kegs slipped out from under me & Fell back down in the toilet, luckily landed on the sweet spot & didn't break anything. i managed to pull myself up with a bar to my left! Harrowing experience 😱... But I think this lady has the right idea & is very clarifying in how to move! Thank you God for this your Angel🙏
@@AlamarOne I agree with that, but what I was getting at is that sometimes you go into a washroom & don’t notice that the toilet is low & you just go to sit down. I can say to you that is one of the scariest things I’ve experienced as a disabled person with a cane that doesn’t always help me. I was lucky a few times, but there have been at least 2 times where I either fell or just caught myself on the edge of the toilet. I don’t get the reason for low toilets in the first place except for decor🤦🏻♀️🥴
Agreed, happens to me too. If one were to fall in a public bathroom, gross goes without saying, but you could be there over a three day weekend. A cane could go flying out of reach. We need Plan B They need feedback. Let the building owner know. If a hotel, let them have it. No excuse anymore. Comfort height commodes should be standard. Try carrying a case or a purse that you can hang on the door hook. A web belt with a d-ring would permit you to pull up. Msybe a clothes hanger. Reinforce with gorilla tape. That tape is so strong, it wouldn’t snap. Might have a hard time going through security…..this, oh, it’s for the bathroom stall.
I learned years ago, which has helped me, a similar method to hers. Scoot closer to the edge of chair, etc. Plant feet slightly apart. Bend slightly forward with arms straight out in front of you. Rock just a little backward and when coming forward, thrust yourself upward using your legs. Having your arms outward, keeps your balance and adds weight to help your thrust.
Thank you for this, due to spine problems I have a high toilet & adapted bathroom. On a recent hospital visit however I had a long journey & needed their toilet. Very low, nothing to hold or a grab bar anywhere. For the life of me I could not get up! Its an awful feeling! Eventually I slid to the floor then scuffled round & used the toilet to eventually pull myself up. I will do these exercises to try & strengthen up.
It is terrible that you had this experience in a hospital toilet. I have had a similar experience in a hotel bathroom and used the side of the bath to get off the floor. I was very glad I did not have to summon help.
I have limited mobility and walk with a four-wheeled walker. Arthritis in my knees means that I cannot sit on low chairs and toilets, and I certainly cannot stand up from them. I am gradually getting stronger by doing my rehab exercises. In the meantime I found a product which is a game changer for me. It is called the Free2Go Rollator. It is a rollator which has a toilet seat under the main seat. It means I can use public bathrooms safely.
I'm not terribly immobile. I swim and am active on my farm. But...these videos help me to see things that can make my life easier. My journey with RA and OA gets hard sometimes. I appreciate the help
Thank you so much for your content and knowledge that you share with us. I saw you featured on El Paso Manual Physical Therapy and subscribed to your channel as well as Dr. David Middaugh's last week. I have signed up for the four-day email challenge that I saw in one of your videos. You and David are giving me hope that I can improve my joints (lupus and OA). I live overseas with long waiting lists for health services and your information is helping me to be proactive. Thank you again! 🙂
Thank you so much. I live in a building designated for 55 year olds & up where the height of the toilets is more appropriate for young children. Yes, so getting off the commode is definitely challenging. I'm more concerned about what i'll do after knee replacement.
Get yourself a commode to put over the toilet. Take the seat off the toilet and the pail out of the commode. You can raise the commode up to a higher level to make it easier for you. The commode will also have arms 5hat you can grab to stand easier.
I have looked at the walkers that I have inherited…..it wouldn’t take much to create a seat with an appropriately sized hole. Bedside commodes are unsightly. Not widely available here, but Brit’s have attractive upholstered chairs that don’t give away their use, looks like an ample fining room upholstered chair. We need to be insistent. Provide comfort sized -they call it, commodes. Building managers are getting away with it. It was a special order up until recently, now, anyplace with fixtures has them.
At 78, female, overweight & former runner in earlier years=Have bad knee joints on rising from seated. No problem if on a high stool. Use big pillows on my low couch. Arms work well on anything as arms and legs are strong. Glucosamine seems to be helping the knee joints. Son keeps threatening the chair that raises a person to tick me off and motivate me to exercise more.
Best chanel lots of us have ben waiting for. We need helpand mor furniture for the oldet people someone open a store with high furniture cause low furniture is making are legs and mussels worst and painful. This is the best vidio rver thanks
Ok I’m watching this and bout to try it. Hmmm wonder if I can stand quick. I dread the toilet lately. And think do I need to install a rail I’m 49 lol. Ok I’ll continue the comment once I try it. Getting up now ….. Ok it worked. My right knee cracked n hurt a bit but normally that hurts even more. So yay this is something I can practice. And will try the other exercises Thankyou ❤️
I am getting knee replacement surgery December 21. I already have one knee replacement that is 10 yrs old. I have difficulty right now getting up from a chair as it hurt in my knee real bad. Getting down on the toilet hurts but getting back up is worse and now both my shoulders are aching from using them to get me up. I am really not anticipating what I will be like after surgery. I hope I will be getting some help from this video.
It’s finally coming to stores, specialty catalogs don’t have assistive devices. Tar-jeeh. As the kids call Target. They have a device to slip between couch cushions, now you have two arms like an armchair. Like that was so complicated…..metal arms, on skids, sandwich under cushions. Pricey at $120 , but tax deductible as a walker or crutches would be. It has resale value, you could sell it.
Thanks for the info. you did share. Your invitation said you would show how to get up from low toilets. You made no mention of this in your presentation😢
What about getting up from a very low toilet and you have osteoarthritis? I had to go to the bathroom, not knowing the toilet was so low, like it was made for the 7 dwarfs. There's absolutely nothing to hold onto. After that experience, I know I must do exercises to strengthen my muscles. Thank you
great video...i broke my right shoukder in 3 places and i am right handed. so range of motion is limited. but i think i can modify this to work for me...
I find it easier if I sit on the edge, legs about 12" apart, flat on the floor, stick my bottom back, reach my arms forward and down as if diving into a pool. The weight of my arms brings my body forward, then i concentrate on pushing up with my heel. To sit down again, bottom out, knees bent, arms forward & down so that you fold down rather than drop. If you do it correctly your knees wont hurt and you can sit and stand slowly and controlled
I have had lower back issues for 50 years, and one of the ways that my back can go out is if I sit in a chair or a toilet that is too low. That is why I always use the handicapped toilet which most of the time is higher than a regular toilet.
I have OA badly to the extent that I have really bad balance issues , so I think to do things as you suggest difficult. I feel I may maybe lost a lot of muscle power in the top of my legs. One of my knees feels it keeps popping out , but straight back in again, but the selling and pain after is increable. Hence I feel a little scared to move away from my comet zone for the fear of falling over. I do use a stick , frame daily and scooter for longer distance. I will try what you suggest but with a little hesitation I must say, I am having a steroid injection in one knee fingers x Wednesday. Just recently had heart surgery , so got to speak to someone re stopping anti coag meds first I was informed in a letter Saturday, so hop I can get hold of someone today. Thanks for the advice anyway.
Would you advise doing this foe extremely tight hip flexor/piriformis? Im post op spinal fusion and have a difficult time sitting on chairs, public bathrooms.
Hate low toilets/chairs/sofas. Elderly with Polymialgia Rheumatica and a full hip replacement 14 years ago. Trying my best to avoid having the other hip replaced as well. Then add peripheal neuropathy which cause problems with keeping my balance.😂 It helps to laugh about it. However I do wish public toilets could be higher with rails to help the elderly.😉
What I ?dread is getting down and up from high toilets and chairs, and having my legs dangle painfully while I sit on them. I am a short person with 2 bad knees, so a lot of seating is too high for me. I seldom encounter seating that is too low for me. I had to pay extra to buy a rolling walker designed for people who are both short and wide. At the time, the only one that I could find was the Nova Mini Mack. It has been a big help. ❤😊
I prefer a low toilet. It’s a more natural position for elimination. If getting up is difficult, install support bars. One can also use a frame or walker placed backwards behind to form arm rests. I don’t know about that swinging arms with weights to get up. I’m afraid I’d keep going flat on my face!
My worst experience was at the dentist and I HAD TO GO NOW. I was on the way out and ran into the first restroom, it did say personnel only. Could not wait and entered. Low low toilet, no grab bars. I could not get up. Had to call for help. Finally someone came and tried to open the door. Several people tried with anything they had. Most people had already left, no locksmith was answering . Ended up calling the fire department. Lights and sirens. Had to take the locks out. Finally was helped up by a cute fireman. Beet red face. Walked past the checkout and told her I would call later and pay over the phone.
Just happened to a co worker. She was, essentially, trapped. Big heavy doors, no one heard her, she was trapped in a stall. Could have been a three day weekend with nobody in the building. There are devices that allow a woman to urinate while standing. People use for hiking or public restrooms. Small, enough to carry in a pocketbook. Learn to void in a cup, then pour in the toilet. Disagreeable, but so is having to be rescued. Not sure it would work….maybe impossible with many toilets, but could maybe swivel, turn backwards and use the piping mechanism to hold on to, to lift off. Or the back wall. If it’s of any consolation, that’s why stalls are open on the bottom to begin with.
This all sounds great but if your knees don’t bend like mine and after fracturing both shoulders they don’t work either. I have a 17 inch toilet with a 4 inch riser under it. I refuse to do stairs since I fell down them and fractured my shoulder. My theory is every doctors office needs those hip high chairs in them for people that can’t get off low furniture. If I have to go to the doctor I have to take three cushions that I have to put in the chair and it is still hard. I basically stay home where I know I have a chair and A toilet I can get on and off from.
I was in the office and had to go. At some point when I tried getting up my legs simply didn’t cooperate. I spent an hour trying to get up until it came to the point that I had to kneel down and crawl out of the bathroom into an adjacent room where I called my work mate for help. It was a really embarrassing experience. Like many on this post I am afraid to use the toilet as I don’t know the outcome of when I am finished. I also hate low toilets and wished they were higher or perhaps adjustable.
Hi there, I’ve just watched this video, can I ask if these exercises are suitable for me to do as I’ve recently had both hips replaced just 14 weeks apart? I’m still using the toilet riser seat at the moment but I need to start getting back to using a normal toilet seat, what do you think?
These look like something I could use. Are they ok with psoriatic arthritis? I need a hip replacement and am really trying to get stronger before hand.
If you can get your grandkids to find other places where all the REAL info on Boron by any of its 7 names have been hi dden.( 1/8 teaspoon per 100 pounds of person, per day was the human trials). Find and learn. I am down from 9 pain to 0 or 1. Strength up. 3 bad falls on ice, no breaks, small bruising. All friends, fall is a break each time. After surgery it cuts bone healing time in half, and soft tissue the same.😊. Farma discovered dude had 1000 copycats all done with arth rites repair. Never to buy their solution again. So they jailed him. Now called poison on websites. It was thick in food before pe st cide. So your grandma didn't break or any of this. The best vid is the doc teaching coworkers. I watched through 35 things it fixes. The other vids are good also, if they find the info for you. You can also buy pills on line 30$. Or powder in laundry isle IF there are no extra things added, 7$. You must find name with jackass.
Thanks for the video. Actually I wake up from the chair it was take 2 to 3 minutes. If I wake up I press my palm on my lap. Later I am having hand and shoulder pain .
I have the opposite problem. Everything is too high for me. My legs ache after sitting on a toilet that is too high and only the tips of my toes can touch the floor. Chairs are the same. I need a footstool and can only use one at home. I still use the booster step that I bought to help my children when they were babies, they are in their late forties now.
If you are fitted with a Pacemakrer, as I am, standing up quickly can make you feel giddy and then fall over. I not get up from a chair or othdr low seat slowly. Once I'm standing, I stay there for a few swecods to let my pulse catch up.
I've found that the more expensive a restaurant is, the lower the toilets are. Also hospital toilets are really low to accommodate wheel chair transfers, but at least they have grab bars. I don't understand why grab bars aren't mandatory in every stall. Cause if you lose your balance and fall, there is no way anyone can get in, cause you're blocking the stall door.
I had hip surgery nine months ago before that. I always squatted on the toilet now I can’t do that anymore or so far I can’t my left side isn’t strong enough. I’ve been doing weight-bearing exercises and some strength training and still I can’t squat on the toilet, I would really like to get back to squatting instead of sitting..
I got stuck in airport RR - I was recoverinv from broken leg (used cane) and had right arm in cast. Chose handicapped stall.... Lots of space. But functionally....only grabrail was right hand (the one in a cast). Almost fell reaching toilet. Getting up was worse. I couldnt. Seat not much higher than normal. I crawled out under door - after pushing my suitcase under. That 'handicapped' only meant for someone in wheelchair, who could get up and down. Not REAL handicaps. Two grab rails would be good, but stall was too wide to reach across. Very embarassing, awkward, and painful.
A movement like that when you have no physical issues in your body is so easy to do... not so easy or safe when you have serious core strength problems and balance issues.
... if I stand up too fast ... there could be balance issues .. I agree with your arms in motion tho to get up ... but a little slower than you ... counter weight another helpful hint ...
I'm diagnosed with RA. My main prob is sore shoulders everyday and low strength in arms wrist and forearms...would love your suggestion. Thanku Just subscribed👍🏽
Doesn’t work when the knees are are gone can’t hold knee replacements, crushed ankle and foot on same side as a broken hip. I got the muscle proper just not the bones to go with it. Or standing quickly you get lightheaded.
Thank you but that green chair isn’t a low chair. In a low chair or (sofa) getting up puts all your weight on your knees as you rise up which is very painful following TKR or have a severe arthritis, unfortunately bouncing up is not safe for everyone. I’ll continue to carry my booster cushion 😁
There is no way in Hades I could ever do that second movement. I cannot get up stairs that are higher than 4-5". And my left hip is so far gone that I cannot put any weight on it independently from a walker or, at the very least, a cane. It is very painful for my legs to be extended further apart than a regular step.
I have short shin bones. I love a low toilet. And low chairs., I have the problem of my feet swinging on the toilet, because I can't reach the floor. 😂😅😂
My hips so stiff I can’t get up from chair without holding onto chairs.. when I try get up my hip feels like tone of bricks I can’t move.. I can’t not bend over when I am sitting., I have to use a sock tool put on my sock
I loathe low toilets… public places should never be allowed to install them..I also think safety bars should also be mandatory in every stall not just handicapped ones…👍🏻‼️

Why would they have such a toilet in a handicapped bathroom? Good thing the housekeeper was there.
I got stuck in a restaurant for over an hour. Scary. No one came in.
Yes….we have to follow through with these things.
Let them know, follow up to make sure they made the necessary changes.
Carry something with you. Think a hand strap like people use while standing on a bus.
You want to get through security, think of that. Some kind of braided necklace or lanyard that will permit attaching to the stall door frame or coat hook to pull yourself up.
Not just bad handicapped planning……

Blessings ~
I think the low toilets were to accommodate a range of heights -- older children, shorter adults. But it does feel very low sometimes!
Your video and suggestions will help a lot
I just subscribed to your channel.
The real problem is getting down on the low toilets, it’s so scary especially if there’s no counter to help & you feel like you are going to fall & break the toilet or something else like your legs or back😩🥴
YES! I got down on a low toilet, not paying attn & then I went, "Uh, oH, how am I gonna get up from here?"
I had been practicing before & I closed my eyes & went for it...
We need Plan B
They need feedback.
This is so true
I dread low toilets. At home I have a detachable raised toilet seat, it makes so much difference.
Girl-you are AMAZING!
Thank you!
I'm not terribly immobile. I swim and am active on my farm. But...these videos help me to see things that can make my life easier. My journey with RA and OA gets hard sometimes. I appreciate the help
No problem! I'm glad you like the videos!
Thank you for all of your advice. I'm sure this will help me out tremendously.
You’re so welcome!
What a great video! Thank you. My legs have become stronger, but adding the power component is going to really help! Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Yay! Welcome!! ❤️❤️

Thank you do much, this exactly what I need to improve lifting myself from low surfaces! ❤
You're so welcome!
How clueless was that designer!!!
Yes on the Speed ❤ Momentum has Power
Glad you liked the vid!
Have you got a vidio to help to get up from the floor with bad knees please?
I’d like some help on that also!!
@@foofookachoo1136Me too.
Great ideas! In the past, I have pushed myself too far too fast. Muscles need to rest from workout. Thank you so much!
You got this!
@@arthritisadventure Thanks!
Thank you for doing this! I have severe OA in both my hips and knees, my lower back and my shoulders. It sucks!!!
Amen!
Same here
In case it hasn't been said b4..try not to sit in a chair with rollers. They move just when you are 'able' to start standing up.
Great tipis thank you Melissa!
You're welcome! And it's spelled Alyssa :)
The key is to make sure your behind isn’t lower than your knees.
Alyssa, so good to find you. Thank you. With this exercise do you psu mostly with the heel? or not?
Thanks for the info. you did share. Your invitation said you would show how to get up from low toilets. You made no mention of this in your presentation😢
Thank you!
Welcome!
Thank you dear ❤ God bless.
Thanks
You are so welcome!
Best of luck!
This is soooo helpful!!!
Thank you! 💖
You’re so welcome!
Your videos are well done and very helpful !
Glad you like them!
That is why I always use the handicapped toilet which most of the time is higher than a regular toilet.
excellent job! it's very helpful❤
Glad you liked the video.
I tried this and i cannot get up straight I have to hold to get up. Thank you Doctor. I will incorporate this in my daily exercise and routine.
Glad you liked the video!
Thank you
You're welcome!
However I do wish public toilets could be higher with rails to help the elderly.😉
hope your polymyalgia fades...i had two long bouts over 6 years but now fully recovered
Thank you for sharing.
@@powerWithinUs4055 Yes on the cup… campers use it all the time.
I can't get up without holding to my walker or any thing else I have arthritis all over my body and servere so now tell me what else to do???????
If my knee is bone on bone can the second exercise be done safely?
I was in the office and had to go. At some point when I tried getting up my legs simply didn’t cooperate. I spent an hour trying to get up until it came to the point that I had to kneel down and crawl out of the bathroom into an adjacent room where I called my work mate for help. It was a really embarrassing experience. Like many on this post I am afraid to use the toilet as I don’t know the outcome of when I am finished. I also hate low toilets and wished they were higher or perhaps adjustable.
I agree
Great!
Hi there, I’ve just watched this video, can I ask if these exercises are suitable for me to do as I’ve recently had both hips replaced just 14 weeks apart? I’m still using the toilet riser seat at the moment but I need to start getting back to using a normal toilet seat, what do you think?
Everyone recovers from surgery differently, make sure to listen to your body as you go through them and ensure you're not flaring up pain.
You have to do what’s best for you.
I've found that the more expensive a restaurant is, the lower the toilets are. Also hospital toilets are really low to accommodate wheel chair transfers, but at least they have grab bars. I don't understand why grab bars aren't mandatory in every stall. Cause if you lose your balance and fall, there is no way anyone can get in, cause you're blocking the stall door.
are these ok to persons with osteoporis on the spine & osteopenia on the hips
Im 6ft tall woman with severe left leg thigh weakness due to spinal injury. What can I do to help get up?
Have you fried a quad cane? I have a bad hip and knee and it helps me.
Alyssa love your videos. Have been watching you since a year now. Btw what’s your wall color called?
Perfect for me. I am five feet tall. Love low toilets, etc!!
How does this work when your knees just give way both when sitting down and getting up again?
Im not disabled but gained a ton of weight super fast and suddenly watching vids on how to get up is now very interesting.😢😂.
Very good info......
Glad you like the info!
I cannot get up and down from a chair or from a toilet without help thank you so much for the video
I'm glad you like the video!
There are videos that focus on core on the channel.
... if I stand up too fast ... there could be balance issues ..
I brought a extended seat for my toilet
Your an Angel 😇
Aw thank you!
Awesome
Thank you!
What if there's pain
I recommend always use the handicapped toilet, l always do because there always higher, and wait if you have to, it’s worth it….
Doesn’t work when the knees are are gone can’t hold knee replacements, crushed ankle and foot on same side as a broken hip. I got the muscle proper just not the bones to go with it. Or standing quickly you get lightheaded.
I had both my toilets taken out of my house and replaced with new ones that are high
Correct, the green chair isn’t low but it’s important to build the strength and power with a higher chair before moving to a lower surface.
@@arthritisadventure. That makes sense!
I have to anticipate my needs. No low chairs or low commodes.
There is no way in Hades I could ever do that second movement. I cannot get up stairs that are higher than 4-5". And my left hip is so far gone that I cannot put any weight on it independently from a walker or, at the very least, a cane. It is very painful for my legs to be extended further apart than a regular step.
Low toilets suck! I hate them! It's not only getting up - it's also getting down when you're in a hurry!
The only way I can get up my back porch stairs is by using momentum! If I slowdown I’m stopped in place!
Only works if you have balance
I have short shin bones. I love a low toilet. And low chairs., I have the problem of my feet swinging on the toilet, because I can't reach the floor. 😂😅😂
My hips so stiff I can’t get up from chair without holding onto chairs.. when I try get up my hip feels like tone of bricks I can’t move.. I can’t not bend over when I am sitting., I have to use a sock tool put on my sock
Here's a video on putting on socks. th-cam.com/users/shorts3ZfruHN3Uw4
Nope, I haven't had that problem yet, (I'm only 66), but I DO dread ice cold toilet seats. 😂
escape velocity lol
I loathe low toilets… public places should never be allowed to install them..I also think safety bars should also be mandatory in every stall not just handicapped ones…👍🏻‼️
Why should be we get up so fast and not slowly with control way?
Yes, that’s what I was wondering too. Especially if you’ve got lots of mobility issues, which I’m sure, many of us viewers have…
