Thank you Dr. Andrea Furlan . Watching your videos it was life saving .i had a fusion back surgery . One day I couldn’t pull myself I was very weak so I tried one of your method and it worked .❤🥰😍
I have bad knees and recently fell. I landed indian style at the bottom of steps. Broke my wrist. With all of the adrenaline, I stood straight up no hands first time in over 20 years.
I just saw your video. As a single woman in my late 70s, I fall too many times. I usually have to crawl to a chair to help myself get up.. I'd like to spend more time outdoors without chairs. So I'm going to start immediately using your methods not only to get up, but also to strengthen the correct muscles. I started to smile as I watched your video because I could see these methods as a potential life saver. Thank you so very much!!
Well look again: when you fall you'll be shaking, hurt, confused. This is an ACCIDENT not a relaxing trip to the floor. If I was in a room I would crawl (not on tippy toes and fingertips gaaa) but to a corner then sit up against it and USE IT: but not until you've steadied yourself and sat for a few minutes. Turn around against and then use your toes, but don't stay there like that straight leg until you get up! YOU WILL FALL AGAIN. This woman is dumber than sack of nails.
I have two knee replacements and the hardest part of this maneuver is that I can’t kneel on a hard surface. If i can reach anything to fold up and then kneel on, I can do the rest of the maneuver
Thank you. I am 81 with a 9 year old knee replacement. However, I am very stiff even though I still ride my bike and can walk an hour. I was able to do all 4 methods but not easily. It really helped for you to show how to strengthen the muscles and I plan to work hard on that. Have not fallen yet, but that means nothing…..
I have been told I will most likely be in a wheelchair within 10 years, due to osteoporosis in both my hips. So I am trying to get physically stronger as much as I can. also trying to prepare myself for any falls that might happen. Thank you for your video! 🥰
I am so thankful for this video! I myself am 78 years old, and the lady I care for is 92. We have been practicing these exercises for the past 1.5 months.
I was stuck on the toilet lately. One knee was too painful and the othet was creaking. I am a retired nurse / midwife. The first thing I did was to relax . Let my body go limp. I had made 3 attempts to rise up already. Relaxing my body gave me the courage to stand up. TY it is a great idea to prepare for ways to get off the floor when on your own and do physio when we can. This doctor is sharing her expertise. She is saving lives. I love her strengthen exercises. She is giving you options. Thank you for sharing this very important , I appreciate that you took the time to share this post.
Thank you for the lessons. I have fallen twice this year. The falls were several months apart, each time breaking my arm and sholder. It was to painful to get up without assistance. Also, falling on slippery floors or uneven surfaces makes getting up quite a challenge. Again, the methods are important for helping me live independently.
MERCI Dr Furlan ! 😊😊💐

The first one is easier one of them is too dificult you gave me the idea , by posting this , to practice exercises to get up practice them before ones falls. Thank you that’s going to be my daily exercise. !
Excellent video! At age 74, I developed vertigo and have found myself on the ground repeatedly. I will now be using these methods to get back up. Plus, your video demonstrations were extremely helpful! Thank you, Dr. Furlan!
Excellent! Especially thank you for the reminding me about the exercises at the end! Looking at two knee replacement surgeries and I defaulted already to using plank ( or I call it downward facing dog) to get up from the groundmore easily. People saying these aren't good for seniors are wrong. If they do strengthening exercises they will improve their balance and muscle tone at any age. Falling comes from lack of exercise. Have read so much about people doing moderate yoga even chair yoga to improve their flexibility so as not to fall. I know stiffness plays into that a lot. We can avoid it but it takes our effort at any age. My 95-year-old grandmother would have said do something! Keep moving!
Excellent video thank you so much for all this free invaluable information. The addition of subtitles shows great understanding for the target audience.

Oh dear. Im pretty sure my knees arent going to bend enough to do those. Ill try. You don't even have to fall to do this. I got down on the floor to look under the bed then found it challenging to get up in a small space. Great info tho!

I have had both knees replaced and one hip....no pain, but, my balance is absent and can't prop myself up onto my legs...have found scooting to some place where there is furniture or something to support myself.
All four of your methods require using your knees. I cannot kneel at all because my knees are boney. They don’t support me. When I have fallen, thankfully in my kitchen, I “swim” across the laminate floor to the carpet. Grab my recliner and hoist myself up. I am a large woman, age 78, and these will not help people with weak or damaged knees. Please address this in your intro. The exs you show are good. They are what my physical therapist advises and I try to do them twice a day.
I found a bit of success by keeping knee cushions in every room in my house then able to get into knee position long enough to do these "get up moves". Also low stool or book pile help in a sitting push back and rise onto low stool and work your way up by pushing off from feet and arms, no knee pressure on replaced knees involved. Practice with another person present for safety.
I have to use furniture and pull myself up. I’ve fallen twice outside and had to use a car to pull myself up. It’s scary. My legs started getting weak when I was around 40. I’m 65 now. Doctors don’t really listen. I had one do a thyroid blood test. He called and said nothing was wrong with me. 😮I wear an Apple Watch with cellular all the time unless it’s charging. And try not to step in a pothole. Yes, I’ve fell in a pothole before.
Main thing for us older women is to have a trusted person to ring us every day at the same time. If there is no answer, then they have permission to enter. We could also reciprocate for the other person. I appreciate this doctor’s knowledge, but I could not do any of them because of O/A in knees, hips and ankles. Best wishes everyone!
I'm overweight and have two knees that I'm afraid to damage by kneeling. I haven't the strength I used to have in my shoulders/arms. One knee and one shoulder were dislocated at different times. I don't have O/A, so I don't know if this will help much. First of all, don't panic. If you aren't injured, it's just a matter of time and figuring out what you have that you can use, if you're phone isn't near (mine wasn't). Panic will just prevent you from calmly figuring out your options and how to counter anything that might get in your way. I fell in my living room one day and ended up using a very firm crib mattress folded in half, so that I could kneel on a resisting non-hard item in order to pull myself onto a low chair. The chair had open arms and a slanted lower part. I had thought to get rid of it, but it helped me out, so I'll keep it in case this happens again. My couch that I could allllllmost get on to had a console in my way on one side and a typical wide closed arm on the other with a too narrow seat to get enough of me in place for further adjusting upward. So frustrating! Would've been up in about 10 minutes instead of what seemed like an hour! I was incredibly blessed because I live alone aside from a dog. A couple of key points, tie-on non-slip soled shoes are more reliable on carpet (and probably on hard floors) when you have to push with your feet. Amazingly, the push back from the firm, folded little mattress, did not allow my weight to put much pressure on my knees. It basically helped me lean-stand enough to get some height for the rest of the motions needed. I was so afraid of tearing tendons which would be damaging when I was so blessed to not have sprained or broken anything in the fall. Obviously, you don't want to be on your knees for long; the chair I was able to crawl on to had open arms I could put my hands around, so I was able to get off my knees quickly and pull/slide up onto the chair seat. This was all because the precautions I had taken were not available to me that day. I have a phone, but it was in another room that I would've had to scoot to. I actually have a stackable set of steps one can scoot up but they were in an inaccessible place. I also have a motorized bathtub lifting chair which I used to get my mom off the floor, but you have to keep it charged, which it wasn't. If you can invest in one of those and keep it close to a couch or bed you can hang on to as it lifts you up and then transfer to more stable piece of furniture, O/A would probably not be a problem. And, it can help others to help you if you're able to call someone. They can get the lift and stabilize you even if they aren't in the best of condition for lifting people. I can tell you that I was overwhelmed with God's blessings that day! Aside from not being hurt for which I was so grateful, I have to admit I wasn't aware of having everything I needed until I had time to think it all through. Just go slow, whatever happens. Don't lose momentum, but it is a bit of a shock, so rest when necessary. I hope this gives some options to those of us without strong enough knees, etc. I also was reminded that I needed to vacuum more often. :)
I have fallen numerous times in the past year and haven’t been able to get up. I’m 74. I was taught a couple of these methods by my physical therapist but couldn’t get it to work for me. I wear an alert pendant that calls some strong neighbors or the fire dept.

The methods. She discusses are elegant. Granted one must have adequate strength levels. Fortunately, we can all increase our strength. The ways are many and varied. And the ways to do it can be virtually pain free. Visualized resistance is one prime example. But an in-depth discussion of such methods ls beyond the scope of this missive.
I found you when I was on the floor! I awakened to go to the restroom but my feet slid out from under me as I was getting out of bed. I almost panicked because we have had to call 911 to get me up in the past. I’m a 78 year old woman and I have arthritic knees. Plus I’m overweight And have no body strength anymore. I kept myself calm (this was SO important!) My laptop was close so I searched for how to get up when you fall. I got lucky! YOU came up!! I was able to turn myself around and get up on my own!!! THANK YOU for making this video! Your explanation and being able to see you got me up!!! 💙🙏🏼💙
Thankyou i am going to try this after dropping beads all over my craft floor. I found my knees and legs were in pain and I couldn't get up . Used the chair method, will definitely try your exercises.
I have so much trouble getting up off the floor because of health conditions that make it nearly impossible. 1) I have Duprytren's Contracture in both hands. 2) I have Carpal Tunnel in my right hand and wrist. 3) I have metal knee replacements in my knees. 4) I have Lumbar Spinal Stenosis in and also in sacariliac joints. 5) I have Osteoporosis. 6) I'm 72, with very weak muscle strength and I weigh 172 pounds. My last fall was in a parking lot. I literally couldn't get up and I had to crawl on my forearms and drag myself to my car. I unlocked the car door with my automatic key button and from that point I got on my metal knees (hurt like hell) and used the steering wheel to pull myself up into my car. No one stopped to help me. That was two months ago and I'm still suffering in pain. Any suggestions for future falls? I had another mishap getting out of the bathtub. I was stuck in there for over an hour. There are no safety grab bars installed in my apartment, except for the plastic ones I put in. Which by the way are not safe. I used one to pull me up and the suction cup caused me to fall backwards and I hit my head really hard. I live alone so I was stuck in there. I grabbed a bath rug and was able to get on my metal knees and back myself up to the edge if the tub and freed myself!😊 Thaks your your great ideas.
Sempre bravisssssima dottoressa Furlan...il 1° e il 2° mi sono molto utili! Ho 70 anni e le cadute possono essere un problema serio alla mia età 😟. GRAZIE di ❤ x i suoi video 🙋🏼💐
we have helped an older friend (now in care home) to get up numerous times the only thing we could do was to help her get on her knees then crawl to a chair or sofa put her arms on it while we would help her to straighten up, no way she could have done this on her own, we then learn from the ambulance crew to roll a long towel place it behind her back going under her armpits and hold one side each and pull her up, first she had to bend her knees and put her feet flat against the floor. That worked every time like magic. Of all the older people I know around me in their eighties none of them could use your methods. Most older people who fall have loss of muscle mass and arthritis and as a result loss of balance many are also over weight or very frail, if they could build up their muscle they probably would stop falling down. I think your methods could work for people in their 70s who have an occasional fall. Thank you for sharing.
I know many people in their 80s who are able to do all of these. People need to start building their muscles and practicing these methods before they reach that age.
I agree I’m in my mid 80s and can’t begin to do these exercises, so I think ai need to try to do some body strengthening exercises, I would appreciate seeing something like that to help us get stronger so that we could finally do these exercises!!!
Also doesn't work if had rt side stroke and can't roll over onto stomach. Or then put both arms in the position to push up ss only 1 side can take weight. So many times I've hurt my back trying to get my husband off the floor as he can't get to the stage of being on knees. The plank would be hopeless- no strength
That's what I am thinking; I am 75 and in fair condition for my age. Forget the plank thing; I couldn't do that when I was young and strong. However, it's good to realize one's weaknesses and then to work on trying to strengthen yourself in order to be able to get up when needed. The trouble with that is that our muscles, when made stronger, won't "hold a charge" for more than a few days so we'd have to do exercises every day, not to build muscle, but just to maybe maintain what we might have built. And there's no way to bend like she is demonstrating.
@DrAndreaFurlan I have a friend who lives in my building, just upstairs. We have a system in place, one of us will call the other by 11:00 am, if the person doesn't answer we wait 20 minutes and try again if no answer we go and see what the problem is. When she comes in she gets a stool that is very low to the floor and helps me to get on it. Then, with her help, we get me back on my feet. When she is not available, I can sometimes get my self on the low stool, then slowly push the stool across the floor (I have rugs) to my recliner, where I can sometimes pull my self into it. If none of that works I call an ambulance for assistance.
I use the front method in a modified way. When I lay on my back, I raise one knee toward my chest and grasp it with 2 hands. As I lower my leg, my upper body is pulled into a seated position.
Thank you so much for thses instructions for getting up after a fall and also for the excercises for strenthening the muscles. I will certainly start practising them and I will report back about the effects after a while.
I actually use the plank method to get up from falls (and I’ve had too much experience with falls). I discovered it on my own. My knees are arthritic and painful to kneel on and to try to stand up. This method works for me…unless there is a strong man standing nearby. I’ll take man. Firefighters are very good at this (voice of experience). 😁

Do a system check, see if anything hurts, roll on your side, if no furniture around, get on hands and knees, partially straighten legs, walk hands in to crouching/standing position. Doing yogahelps with this
I'm 86 years old woman. I'm arthritic. I use a walker with wheels since I can't walk more than maybe 20 feet. I've had two knee replacements and can't bend either knee to 90 degrees. I also have a very bad left shoulder joint from having tumors removed, which also removed most of my shoulder and triceps muscles from that arm. I'm also very overweight. So I can't do any of your methods. I can't get my butt more than two inches off the floor. What I have done is slide myself to a stair case and sit with my back to it, brace my feet, put my hands on the lowest step and push myself up that far. Then I push up onto the next step and from there I can stand up. Any kind of stationary low platform would do. Or something like a low coffee table next to a chair or sofa.
I'm not quite 86, but I can sure relate to your ailments. I don't have a walker. None of her methods would have helped me. 2 weeks ago, I fell getting into bed. It took me 3 hours to get up. Every time I got my second leg close to up, I had a back spasm that threw me back on the floor. I was covered in bruises. My knee surgeries worked very well, but I can't put any weight on them. I tried opening the drawers on my dresser to see if they'd support my weight and help me get up without using my knees. But the back spasms threw me back on the floor again. I've purchased a rail for my bed that I use for in and out every time now. A walker by my bed may have helped, I don't think so, though. I'm still having a difficult time recovering from my shoulder surgery! I scooted myself similar to you, but into the bathroom. I sat on the little ledge on the shower floor and tried to use 2 of the safety bars. I couldn't get that to work. Finally, one bar and the toilet for the bad shoulder got me up to standing. I looked at the bathroom clock, and it was exactly 3 hours since I had tried to go to bed. I think I may have fallen asleep once or twice from exhaustion!
God bless u sis ...Recently i have gone through one of your pinched nerve video its has done some magic on my pain ....so kindly can u say some excercise for back pain and sciatica pain....
Also try to keep a phone on your person or a neck alarm so you can call the Fire Dept or loved ones, neighbors for help. Study all of your options. My friends have saved their neighbors lives.
Yes a house phone and a cell phone can be life savers and always accessible, especially after falling. The problem is the pain resulting from the fall and the cramps.
I can’t put weight on my knees at all. Every one of these, the knees met the floor with weight of the body on them. Ouch! Impossible with knee replacements, or bad knees before replacements.
I have the same issue, excruciating pain if I am on my knees, What I did when I fell once was worked my way to a couch, leaned back against it, put my arms on the seat and walked my self up until I could sit on it. The same thing might work if you can walk your way up a wall until you are standing.
I'm in the same boat. This is why my husband got a life protect. All I have to do is push the button and two minutes rescue is here. My husband works graveyard shift and thought it was a good idea. I am so grateful.
Thank you Dr. Furlan. My question is when a person falls, usually there is injury. I have fallen 4 times in the last 10 yrs (thank my dogs and my clumsiness) Seeing stars and experiencing horrible pain, I could not bend one or both legs. How do you get up then? One time i crawled to a soft bench and somehow managed to pull myself up and another time with legs remaining straight I sat on my bum and scooted to the house and stairs and there I sat on the hard floor for hours until I could scoot to my cell phone. Now I always wear my cell phone in a fanny pack.
Good info!! I am 72 but would suggest facing the chair in front of the wall with front legs of the chair facing the wall.😊😊 so a person could not tip the chair.
Thank you for your video. Except from falling from stairs where you have little control over how a person falls, perhaps you can show us how to anticipate or be alert to risks of falling so we seniors can know how to fall with minimum injury risk
Dr. Furlan, how do I go about making an appointment to see you in person professionally? I recently had spinal surgery and could really use your help. Thank you
The medical doctor is pushing physical therapy which is great. This should be done in a facility with licensed physical therapists. I'm a person that has osteoarthritis in my neck, both knees, both feet, and lower back. Not everyone can manage to get up from a fall safely whether at home alone or out and about.
These methods are OK, don’t forget that the very fact that you have fallen can be a problem! When I found that I difficulty getting my husband up from the floor I purchased an Elk lifting cushion. It was the best thing I purchased for helping him get up! Expensive yes, but saved 999 Ambulance calls.
Hi doctor, first of all, ty for all your helpful videos, we are learning alot, my mom was diagnosed with degenerative osteoarthritis and she is doing some of your exercicies as her daily activity, her doctor told her to consume hydrolized collagen with hyaluronic acid + resveratrol, but theres only 1 place that is selling those combined in my country and is far away from us, is that really the best for her or could you recommend me something as good as that or even better? My apologies if my english is bad.
The fith method is; go to both knees and if you cannot get up, crawl to the nearest door knob and make sure the door is closed and grap it to help you get to one of your knees and it will be easier to get up.
My family member always try to lift me up with 1 hand where it don't work cause by lifting 1 side will only hurt my left or right side or the lifted side. So I normally request for a stool and a chair. Where I will sit on the stool first then move to the higher chair where I will be able to stand up then.
About 3 years ago I fell in my living room and it took me more than 30 minutes to succeed in getting up . I stayed on my back asking myself how to proceed . The solution for me was to roll on the floor until I reached the side of the'sofa , then I did the dog position and finally I grasped the sofa to get up . I'm 76 and I'm totally unable to get up if my hands are on the floor because of very weak wrists
These are just instances where you can help yourself in case it happens. You need to practice how to make use of these examples just in case you are alone with nothing to cling to or nobody around to help you. The doctor is only suggesting how to use your brain to recover to help yourself survive when alone. Survival is the key!😅😅😅😊😊😊Great job! Portland, Oregon
Thank you for this and all your previous lessons especially the one to do before getting out of bed. How can I access all your programs which are of tremendous help? Thanks and blessings.

What do you do when you fall? I'm in the same boat as well, bad knees. Costs $350. to call for help. Insurance only pays if I go to the hospital. Any good advice?
I have bad knees, so these are out. These are for younger seniors . Your bones, muscles have to be in good shape to be able to get up . I can barely get up if there's a stool, chair nearby. 😢
Thank you Dr. Andrea Furlan . Watching your videos it was life saving .i had a fusion back surgery . One day I couldn’t pull myself I was very weak so I tried one of your method and it worked .❤🥰😍
Hi Nadia. Thank you for sharing that.
Thank you very much for these tips. I will start doing them. Xx
The text covers the demonstrations completely so the first exercises are all hidden.
I'm afraid in my case ìts easier said than done. Have bad knees for starters.
I have bad knees and recently fell. I landed indian style at the bottom of steps. Broke my wrist. With all of the adrenaline, I stood straight up no hands first time in over 20 years.

You should walk where there some trees with low branches, you can always pull yourself up, even if you have to crawl to the tree.
Best video showing how to get up from a fall. Thank you. I will pass it on to others.

Maybe time for one of those raised toilet seats.
Liked the video I do believe in prevention better than cure 🙏👍 doctor May you be blessed !
Train your breathing....and use it for situations like the one you describe. Rapid exhaling is useful.

Excellent suggestion 👌
TRUE
Excellent video! Thank you for sharing this very helpful information!

Great ideas on getting up, if older people had strength they problem won’t fall very often.
Hopefully if the person falls on the floor they will get a strategy to get up.
Thank you so much. I am going to share this with my senior workout group

I am sorry to hear this. The intention of this video is to prevent people to get to this situation you described.
I wear one too. Already used it twice. Fantastic! My knees are shot!
Thanks for making this video.

Practice makes perfect
Thank you. Happened to me years back. On the ground 2 hours.
Thank you doctor
Clear, concise and most helpful.
Practice, learn, you can do it. After these videos I feel more confident and have used these mehods
Thank you I had knee pain whenever my knee touches the floor however I can choose ur 3 method it help me wherever I get up from the floor
Wonderful!

I grabbed a bath rug and was able to get on my metal knees and back myself up to the edge if the tub and freed myself!😊
Thaks your your great ideas.

Hi Teresita, thank you for your comment.
Sempre bravisssssima dottoressa Furlan...il 1° e il 2° mi sono molto utili! Ho 70 anni e le cadute possono essere un problema serio alla mia età 😟. GRAZIE di ❤ x i suoi video 🙋🏼💐
Hi Maria Teresa. Thank you for your kind words and emojis. 😍
we have helped an older friend (now in care home) to get up numerous times the only thing we could do was to help her get on her knees then crawl to a chair or sofa put her arms on it while we would help her to straighten up, no way she could have done this on her own, we then learn from the ambulance crew to roll a long towel place it behind her back going under her armpits and hold one side each and pull her up, first she had to bend her knees and put her feet flat against the floor.
Thank you Dr. , Very important for everyone to know.!
Thank you Cheryl
I'm old n I have new knee .my husband is older and fallen several times .
If your older and not well none of these will work .we e tried them
TRUE, IT'S ALRIGHT FOR YOU BEC YOU ARE YOUNG, THAT DON'T WORK IN THE OLD PERSON WHO IS WEAK
Try pepdide therapy, google it
That's what I am thinking; I am 75 and in fair condition for my age.
The pictures of exercises
This is wonderful and I appreciate it very much. IT WORKS.
Terrific info, at age 79, I'm gonna practice these moves. Thanks Doc.
All the best!
Excellent. If I fall I will do this exercise and tell others to do .🙏👍🌹
Hi Shamistha, I'm glad to hear that you like the video
Thank you so much!
You're welcome!
Nagyon köszönöm. Hasznos video!
I can't do any of these methods but I appreciate you showing us, thank you Dr.
@BadgerDevil So, how do you get up if you fall and there is nobody around or any furniture?
Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Glad you like them!

Hi Germaine. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks doc. For your valuable advice video.❤❤❤❤
Always welcome
Do a system check, see if anything hurts, roll on your side, if no furniture around, get on hands and knees, partially straighten legs, walk hands in to crouching/standing position. Doing yogahelps with this
Excellent!
Thank you! Cheers!
86 God bless you.
@@kellychuba I know what you mean. I' can really relate.
@@marlenemednansky7503I understand completely.. falling is the one thing I can’t master by myself. I am 80 and you sound similar to me.
@@marlenemednansky7503 yes, a walker by the bed is excellent to prevent falling when getting up from the bed. It works as prevention.

#2 and chair exercise, I'll try.
Great techniques. I have myositis. Hopefully I can do the second or fourth someday
I hope so too!
Also try to keep a phone on your person or a neck alarm so you can call the Fire Dept or loved ones, neighbors for help. Study all of your options. My friends have saved their neighbors lives.
Thank you for sharing that with us.
Hi Becky. So, it must be really hard for you to get up from the floor. How do you do it?
@@DrAndreaFurlan I am not able to get up off the floor! I can’t do it without assistance.
Hi Jazz901, I hope one of these methods will work for you.
Thank you!!!!❤🙏

Hi Sheilla. I'm glad you like it.
Good info!! I am 72 but would suggest facing the chair in front of the wall with front legs of the chair facing the wall.😊😊 so a person could not tip the chair.
Thanks Johanna. I made this video for people who fall and there is no furniture around them.
Thank you for your video. Except from falling from stairs where you have little control over how a person falls, perhaps you can show us how to anticipate or be alert to risks of falling so we seniors can know how to fall with minimum injury risk
Hi, i have another video that I show how to do exercises on stairs, and it is good to get stronger.

Dr. Furlan, how do I go about making an appointment to see you in person professionally? I recently had spinal surgery and could really use your help. Thank you

This will not help myself I have very bad knees and sometimes I fall this is useless for a lot elderly people like me. Nice video if one can do it
These methods are OK, don’t forget that the very fact that you have fallen can be a problem!

Hi Fer. That is great to hear. Please share this video with your friends.

😊 thanks Dr ❤
You are welcome. Please share this video with your friends.
The fith method is; go to both knees and if you cannot get up, crawl to the nearest door knob and make sure the door is closed and grap it to help you get to one of your knees and it will be easier to get up.
Thank you! But my video is for people who do not have anything to hold.
Or go to a chair or stool to help you get up!
Or crawl to a secure chair.
I have been able to roll to get to furniture I can pull up on.
My family member always try to lift me up with 1 hand where it don't work cause by lifting 1 side will only hurt my left or right side or the lifted side. So I normally request for a stool and a chair. Where I will sit on the stool first then move to the higher chair where I will be able to stand up then.
Great video Doc, very helpful video, im sure many older folks will benefit from this video. God bless Doc. Have a great weekend.
Hi Julio, thank you!
Wish I knew several years ago. But I healed. Thx.
Thanks for your comment
About 3 years ago I fell in my living room and it took me more than 30 minutes to succeed in getting up . I stayed on my back asking myself how to proceed . The solution for me was to roll on the floor until I reached the side of the'sofa , then I did the dog position and finally I grasped the sofa to get up . I'm 76 and I'm totally unable to get up if my hands are on the floor because of very weak wrists
Hi Marie, it is easy if there is a furniture around. But this video is for people who cannot reach the furniture.

These are just instances where you can help yourself in case it happens. You need to practice how to make use of these examples just in case you are alone with nothing to cling to or nobody around to help you.
