Gilsnapper for S++ tier. I should have mentioned how the second strike of Dual Wield can work around Shirahadori but either way its still insane. I love doing these live commentary vids with no script myself. Let me know what other tier lists you want to see 🎉
My personal favorite is Counter Flood, just because it has such a wide variety of potential status effects that accompany it, it's like a grab bag of random status effects. It doesn't do a lot of damage, and the status effects are random and not guaranteed, but it also hits enemies standing next to the enemy that hit you. It's a lot of fun, and has a great range.
Agreed to me its super overlooked and underrated because of the range, chance of negative status, can hit multiple targets lol. I think for my next tier list video I'll try and mention each one side by side at some point in the video.
Pretty awesome that youre making FFT content. this is the first video ive seen of yours and as a major fft fan i appreciate ehat you're doing. Keep it up! Edit Also vanish on a full team of damcers is great. Doesn't stop you from dancing and hurting the enemy team, and the invisibility never goes away.
Thanks for the comment and I've been uploading videos before all these wanna be cool kids and their Nvidia leak. Thanks and I showed that setup in a video before
I like to cast a high power summon and vanish my player so they can move right next to the enemy and obliterate them. Then walk away like nothing happened.
I'm one of those that swear by Shirahadori. I put this on every character and don't touch it for the rest of the game. Yes it doesn't work on magic but that's why I attack magic users first. Most of the time if I can't 1 hit them, I use mp drain so they can't cast. As for the big bosses that have abilities that get around Shirahadori, they don't typically do enough damage to 1 hit my characters so I just use sanguine sword to heal my dark knights or use whatever character I have healing abilities to heal. Typically I run a black mage with white magic. There's more than 1 way to play the game, this is just my play style. Great job on the list.
Just straight up all Shirahadori isn't bad at all lol low Faith team is like nearly unstoppable in most situations if you want to lower faith lol. But your method is a very solid approach to fights for sure and it works super well. Thanks for watching!
There's one very rare instance where i had First Strike/Hamedo go wrong. An archer was attempting to arc a shot over my lines to hit my chemist, who had Hamedo equipped. It activated, as they canceled the archer's attack by quick-drawing and... shooting Mustadio in the back of the head. Good times.
I agree with most, but I'd put Critical: recover HP on S tier, the amount of healing it gives you is so good basically anyone in your party can be a healer, as long as they have the ability of doing the right amount of damage to an ally they can trigger this ability and give them a full HP bar. Mustadio sniping people with his gun suddenly also becomes the most efficent healer in the game cause his guns deal fixed damage with A LOT OF RANGE (more than white mages or chemists) and can consistently put his own allies on critical state.
It very well could be I was debating at putting it in S its easily in my top 5 for sure. No real negatives and lol that can be a snazzy strategy if you can time and place his attack with the reaction ability to heal
My personal favorite reaction is Parry a.k.a. Weapon Guard. Not over-powered, you have access to it early, it's useful through most of the game and nearly every class, except the Monk, can make use of it. It also brings a whole new dimension to your choice of weapon. The Defender sword, the Dancer's cloth weapon and all the mage class' rods, staves and poles increase your evasion quite a bit. If only they had given the Axe weapons a ridiculously high parry stat, instead of a flat 0%. Then you might actually have some reason to equip one despite the random damage and them preventing Geomancer's from equipping shields.
For me personally First Strike/Hamedo is just too niche and it doesn't work vs nearly all monsters in random battles. If you set it up right it can be insane in boss fights but idk just my take personally lol. More speed is always nice and Fury is underrated or can be I feel
Counter Flood was my go to. Good way to get into Geomancer and get out and give everyone a relevant counter regardless of what their role is. Auto Potion was my mandatory battering ram to break through the end of Chapter 3.
Everything looks pretty spot on, the only ones i might move around would be, archers bane since Shiradahori exists, i'd drop it to D and then First strike (maybe i'm missing something about it) but, isn't it just a better version of counter? so at least A tier then? I can see what you were saying about the level 1 challenge abuse from it but, I guess you give it a nod in regards to that by having "situational" above B tier this time around haha.
Thanks to each their own. These placements are just my personal list. I go over the details of First Strike and why I don't think it's that great in the video. Like it's useless vs Monsters besides the Lucavi essentially and it's on the expensive side for JP costs
This list is spot on. The only thing I could add is that maybe Cup of Life isn't totally useless because you can dump a huge heal someone at full health or near full health to heal everyone at once (without regard to distance), but I feel that tactic is still of extremely limited use. And as you pointed out, it's easier most of the time to just give that big heal to a person who needs it. I think Reflexes and Parry are under rated, but I also wonder why the developers chose to implement them as reaction abilities when they behave more like support abilities.
Possibly yes because you can get a heal like you said lol. But it's just an odd reaction ability. I love the uniqueness and idea of it though. And yeah kinda off with those being Reaction abilities but it is what it is lol
Blade Grasp is probably the best, but there are a few other gems out there like dragon spirit, HP restore, counter flood and maybe Hamedo. Auto Potion is the best for newbies. Critical Quick could be broken too but I don’t use it too often
There are strong arguments for it for sure lol. Yeah I go over all the abilities. I think there are some that are definitely overlooked for sure. Hamedo I don't know I put it in a specific tab for this video. Most of these I don't consider really bad unless its like the ones in D tier for the video lol
I still primarily use HP Restore - It just seems to always save my squad mates and keep them in the fight without having to cost the turn of another party member, or them selves to either heal or revive. Good old reliable!
So the biggest thing I’d switch is auto potion and soul bind. They are quite similar, but soul bind doesn’t consume items, and basically takes the place of potion for end game since hp is much higher. Neither will save you from a one shout however, but still both solid options. Potion just drops off late game where soul remains powerful. I personally never cared for any of the counter type moves because it took the damage out of my control, so any action that deals damage to the enemies wasn’t my go to. I will say however, that I’ve always played this game enjoying magic, and most enemies failed to get into melee range before dying, making most of the counter moves much less useful.
I mean that is somewhat fair. But 150 HP back is insane even for a lot of Chapter 4 I feel. S and A tier are both great. And by true post game it depends on how much you leveled up or if you do Rendezvous Missions. Then Auto Potion isn't so great in that but 99% of FFT players never played it.
Lol in nearly all fights it can cover you. I used to think it was a late game ability but I think Samurai was intended for Chapter 2 since you can buy Katanas at the shops lol
Adrenaline Rush and other skills that boost stats on being hit shine really well when you have another character who has Guts/Battle Skills that can throw a rock their way on their off turns. Minimal damage, you can be considerably far from them and still be actively getting to the fight. I also often favor Reflexes over Blade Grasp because for Blade Grasp to be truly all around viable it does require you to tank faith, and I'd prefer not to. I'd rather have the flexibility to be able to take heals, or change that character into a magic-casting class if I still want to without grinding their faith all the way up, or equipping a faith rod or whatever.
@@Blakobness Even without weaker damage it does really well. Gaining Speed a few times from a few hits can really change the outcome of a battle. And perhaps there are pros and cons. Reflexes will suffer hard on things that can't equip Shields or Cloaks though or don't have very good evasion.
I don't generally disagree about magic counter, but it has a special place in my heart because of my favorite completely unnecessary cheese combo. Using it against enemies is not good at all, but it's super strong for quickly applying single target spells to your own party. And magic counter quick is beautiful once you get enough mp to support it.
Feel free to disagree for sure, you can absolutely do some snazzy things I don't think its bad per say just too specific for my taste but it can work and so cool things
How to counter Soulbind: Use Two Swords and equip a weak weapon in the first slot (right hand). When Soulbind triggers, it'll only take half damage from the first blow
For me Reflexes is SSS tier, it can make your character imune to all Psycal and magic attacks unless they are unavaidable, and only summon magic and Ultima are unavaidable, there's some others like Meteor or Holy, but they will be dead before that, besides theses ones no one can kill you. You can be virtually immortal early with: Aegis Shield 50% magic evade becomes 100%. Rune blade can be accquired with steal or invite. 108 gems will gives you a lot of status ailment protection and strenghen all of your elemental dmg. You now change yourself to Geomancer and one-shot everyone from any spot. Not even Orlandeau can be so savage.
Agreed on Reflexes. The fact that it also doubles evasion granted from weapons, class and shields just takes it over the top, and it doesn't require grinding your bravery up to be reliable. I think dragon Heart belongs in S tier as well; because the reraise status revives you on your turn and lets you take that turn, it means anyone with that status will have a chance to heal themselves, escape, reapply the status, kill critical targets... it's even better than being healed to full in my opinion.
Most of your comment makes sense like I said unless people think Gilsnapper is S lol. But in order to get a Geomancer to one shot takes a lot of work and time. They are solid but saying they can one shot and kill things faster than Orlandeau takes time lol
@@diegoa.679 Honestly I feel like that 97 Faith isn't that big of a game changer although in real specific situations it can be lol. Like surviving or doing just enough damage
A lot of garbage Reaction Abilities in FFT. The problem is Auto Potion and Shihadori completely overshadow everything. They’re so powerful and helpful, it’s almost pointless to use anything else. Hamedo is such a fun reaction ability. I'd have Ramza (monk or ninja) just run to towards the center of the enemy melee fighters and watch them break themselves on him.
It depends on how you set up your party. It only activates on more regular attacks like the Attack Command and Battle Skill. I got often hit by arrows so I thought they nerfed on it.
@@TheTruestZero Yes lol. And yeah RNG can totally be good.
Nearly all the mechanics are the same as in the PSX
Is Mana shield good with DK infernal strike?
It can be yes since you are restoring MP
Blade Grasp was obviously coded wrongly on PS1 version. It practically made you untouchable by any attacks.
@@RaFael-yu2qn it works exactly the same in WOTL where you getting your information? CNN?
Mnk/ dual wield sub squire = game over for every boss. 5 min max for battle
@@markhoffman7437 Thanks for the comment but I still don't get how this has anything to do with reaction abilities 🤣
What job class gives you cup of life?
Hi Arithmetican/Calculator
@@J7Jase thanks bro much appreciated
@@trevorrongish4498 np glad to reply!
Critical: Quick could have made a lot of fights WAY more difficult if your enemies ever used it.
@@ransomdekafenya2584 the enemies need more spice of life for sure 😂
@J7Jase yeah Imagine if Elmdore had it in your fight with him and the twins. Now you're forced to deal with them too, or land a decisively killing blow on top of their ridiculous speed.
That would have been wild.
@@ransomdekafenya2584 Yeah for sure. I was thinking for bosses give them more "hidden" reaction and even support abilities too.
Well at least Elmdore I want to say since the guy is supposed to be like Orlandeau level since he was a commander and he was possessed at this point lol. Teleport 2 and dat Vampire 😂
Shirahadori start with S
lol you know whats up
Autio potion is amazing
indeed it is, glad people know what is up lol
magic counter should be FREE mp
:/
Agreed 👍💯
How to get a deneb in the ogre tactic LUCT
hi which version of LUCT? Since there is the original and the PSP remake.
But if on the psp remake this is great, but I'd appreciate it if you kept comments related to specific videos thanks

@@hisammarzuki just keep comments on my videos relevant though thanks
Elidibs casting Zodiac?
Nah, mana shield.
Also, my go to was a character with reflexes, a shield and a mantle. Because why not. Switch out the shield for Aegis if it's gonna be a mage heavy battle.
yes and its solid for the most part for sure. I just go with Lower Faith myself as I like other accessories
Theres a new game like this..its name Sword Of Canvallaria
@@gimmighoul895 Hi I've made a video on the demo a while back when I got early access thanks
Shira is broken.
I always ended up using it on most of my units.
Which made game a bit more boring to me.
@@vatarants For most battles yes but in all of them. It can be useless in a few
I don't need to watch. There is only one a answer
HAMEDO
lol
Hamedo is such a fun reaction ability. I'd have Ramza (monk or ninja) just run to towards the center of the enemy melee fighters and watch them break themselves on him.
Abandon, for me, is S.
@@PunkFiddler yeah it could be fair argument
Hamedo is king.
It depends on how you set up your party. It only activates on more regular attacks like the Attack Command and Battle Skill.
Does not work vs Magic, unless you count Magic guns, or Monsters besides the Lucavi attack command. Special Knight abilities.
It can be amazing just gotta set it up in a very particular way lol
@@J7Jase whichever one it is that the monk gives you also I think it's the monk I forget basically it restores your HP significantly. I use that to swap in when hamido doesn't make sense
@@AmorFati777X Yeah that one is so solid as well 👍💯
Sorry, just offering a bit of feedback from a casual that found this video with the YT algorithm. Additional explanation and/or graphics attaching the job class to the reaction ability would have been helpful, I do not remember a lot of these 😜
Thanks for the comment well you aren't wrong here. But to go into each reaction ability specifically can take a while like easily 8 minute video explaining every situation and to get the proper clips of it.
And the RPM or CPM of FFT isn't that great so going to put 10+ hours on a video that maybe earns me two dollars.
As for you just being a "casual" you aren't even a casual viewer lol. More like one time deal
