I was 12 when Final Fantasy Tactics came out. While my brother was obsessed with the storyline and the game play, I was focused on just fighting the same few battles over and over in Mandalia Plains while my party members mastered every single job. When my brother finally convinced me to play through the game, I was pretty overpowered before Tietra/Teta's death.
Haha I feel like every player has had a similar experience! If Dorter doesn't convince you to level up, then you're in for a rough ride. 😂 Thanks for sharing your story! Hope you had a chance to play through the storyline after all!
Throw stone and 99 potions (way better to just phoenix down and auto potion for chemists even after waiting for availability like ch 2 polearms/iaido) to unlock better jobs by getting jp every turn (faster if you turn off display exp/jp, battle prompts and unequippable inventory). Giving everyone black magic or having a female thief (male for wiegraf/milleuda battles) gives the AI a panic attack. A 70 bravery monk makes ch 1 easier as well, even without unlocking an orator, those units stats can vary, like that faith for even a knight with black magic, and especially Squire ramza with defense boost and invigoration or black magic or hesitation (even haste and Speechcraft are reliable, yay) to do good ch 1 damage, which has me beat that chapter under level 10. Such bipolar difficulty let alone Argath's mages will kill him before you do (unless you made a summoner, equip sword/Brawler Dragoon or geomancer with that 1 time snowstorm outside goland). 8:08 didn't know Concentration lowered evasion. I believe lowering enemy bravery enhances steal too. It does help late game ninjas a ton when everyone wears an evasion cloak and you want to use normal attacks over easy guaranteed ones that win. Oh and dark knight may benefit from crystallized late game black mages as you learn all their abilities, which increase like how I had firaga and thundara at once. Still a waste of time like mime and onion knight compared to Reis/Balthier who expand the game with theft and monster influence) and Orlandeau's beginner friendly winning without doing arithmeticks. Bard needs a dedicated speed, magic or power party to stay relevant and Dancer tapers off given -1 won't hurt an enemy going before she performs.
I remember playing a friends copy of FF7 on ps1 (with all those pesky disks) I had asked my mom for the game for my birthday and being disappointed when it was final fantasy tactics. However come to find out even 20 some odd years later I still love coming back to the game and playing it relentlessly when it was new to me. Thanks mom❤
Love this, same for me almost except.. I rented 7, like I was gonna get tactics and I put it back and switched to 7. It was magic I loved it. But then my best friend got tactics and we played it together.. got so into that game, and it’s still one of my favorite games. Playing again now!

I grew up watching him play it, and played it at an age where the topics covered in the game, and the story, weren't fully appreciated. But I played through it multiple times a year despite that. The game was just so fun to me, even compared to Sonic Shuffle, Mario Party and so many other games they tried to get me to play. Fast forward till now and I own almost all the merch, and still play it on a yearly basis if not more often.

Cup of Life is funny. Lemme bounce an x-potion off your safe position and be an ideal health care 😂 to pass it forward. Rpg maker even had a vid based on using that style of distributing excess hp. I used Murasame in a vid. The game is more about experimenting or just learning from others rather than play it normally with its plentiful non-story flaws.
Agreed Preston! I'm a fan of Life Drain/Invigoration and you can definitely build a Mystic around that spell using swiftness and faith. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! 🙏
I hope they do a remaster, and soon. Only got a PSP when I bought War of the Lions, not realizing it was PSP only. Now that my PSP won't charge, ive been itching to play it again, for about the 7836th time.
Hey Denis! You may as well play a backed up version of WotL on a modern device - and that will give you access to multiplayer 🙌 I'm not holding out hope for a remaster personally, but stranger things have happened!
Thanks for checking out the compendium, Mastujonen! 👋 Ramza's base class is a definite step-up from the standard Squire, since you have abilities like Chant, Scream, Tailwind, and you can learn Ultima. I think it's possible to expand Ramza's abilities, but I would love it even more if they made the Squire a better class that has reasons to come back to in the endgame, like Chemists for example. 👍
In my game he’s a {color 08}Saint in chapter 4😂 I gave him modified Zalbag skillset called Blessings and gave Zalbag Beowulf skills made the A4 onion knight have crazy stat gains added 2-3 more enemies in every level made all the Lucavi level 99 and immune to every stat and absorb all magic Lionel is my new dorter trade
@@briguy459 They could make Ramza's unique class actually change and upgrade over the course of the story, like if he starts off as a "Naive Noble" in the Prologue and only has access to fairly basic abilities during that section of the game, but upon reaching Chapter 1, it could change to something like "Mercenary" where he could gain abilities that blend those of the Squire with those of a Knight, but possibly with the loss of the "Rend" abilities in exchange for abilities that deal increased damage to specific enemy types (from Human, to Undead, to Chocobos, to Dragons, etc.). And then after Ramza is branded a Heretic, his class could change again to the "Heretic" where he could gain access to Dark Knight-esque abilities. And then once you get to the point that the main villains shift from the corrupt church and nobles to the Lucavi themselves, his class could change one last time to something like "Martyr", where he could then gain abilities that allow him to take damage directed at adjacent allies, and in return he gains a temporary damage and defense buff. I feel like that would really fit with Ramza always being a hero at heart, but the events happening around him could take a toll that is shown in how his unique class changes throughout the story. This way, you are encouraged to clear the Prologue early, rather than just staying there and grinding endlessly so that you can access Ramza's better abilities once his class upgrades. They could even change up the "cameo" characters as well, where we might get someone like Clive & Jill from FF 16, and/or Ardbert from FF XIV, or possibly even 2B & 9S from NieR Automata (in much the same way that the duo shows up in FF XIV during the three NieR Raids).
I don’t see anybody mentioning how OP Dancers are.. has that changed due to patches? I remember back when I was playing, I had multiple dancers dancing slow dance and eventually no enemy were able to move at all. I was able to just take my time to grind or capture rare beasts however I want without them even had any chance to attack. Has that changed?
I know it dont have nothing tô do with this vídeo but Today i discovered that units can mount chocobos Just drag the carácter tô the chocobos and accept when ask If you want tô mount him
Im sure there are much stronger builds if using exploits, or min/max with levels, but ive always found using Ramza as a Monk, with Squire skills, equip armor, and move +2 to be unstoppable. Its what I used for the 1v1 against Weigrif, and just kept it. Can run around increasing your speed, then yoir strength, all while healing as needed if caught up to. Then just go punch a hole through everyone.
Geomancer is super OP tbh! They can give disabling statuses like crazy. Summoner is the most underrated class. Hard to pull off a giant attack, but very defensive!!
In the begin I combined white and dark mages, and I realized, not enough MP. They are also slow with low stamina. Then I combined white mages and monks and understood, white mages are so weak to have second job monks, even with 'martial art' ability. I needed good offensive for white mages. And I realized lancers are best choice. Because if you give 'equip spear' to physically weak character, they would still be strong, because lancer themselves are strong more because of spear, rather than bare hands. And what is most important, lancers have strength-charged-from-distance-attacks that will hide you from playground, so enemies cannot hurt you for a while. FENCY, EH! They are too good!
If you're curious about turning a mage character into a melee powerhouse I would suggest a Mystic with a pole and Doublehand, with as high MA as possible. Since poles use MA for their strength it makes this Job a double threat both from melee attacks and from debilitating magick!
@@TacticsLive Thank you, bro, for this advice. To be honest with you, I never played War of Lions. I like my old FFT for PS1. I didn't know that oracle's rod strength is based on magic attack, thank you for this advice, again.
Beowulf and Reis with Draw out is absurdly broken. I love the Nightmare battle with Reis. She can use holy breath to guarantee a one shot on the boss and Chirijiradin to take out multiple Ultima Demons with another one shot. Draw out becomes absolutely stupid on mages. Especially things like Time Mages and Oracles
Hi GW, thanks for the comment! Iaido and high MA units like Reis and Beowulf are incredible combinations, and totally worth the grind for other casters in your squad. 💪
Was always a bit disappointed they didn't include Holy Knight to go along with Dark Knight in War of the Lions. Agrias and Cid were my favorites because of those skills. Plus Cid is Gloriously broken. One of the best moments in the game is when you get him.
I just need to know how to change jobs because I go to my roster and I tap the screen and all it takes me to is the job list and I can't figure out where to go from there and it's irritating that all the job takes me to are the abilities for each job and it won't show me the option list to take me to change job.
I’m playing this game, all the way through, for the first time ever, I’ve watched my sibling play it when was just a kid, and I’d played it and leveled everyone up I would love tips on what the best class would be, summoners are my favorites, same with bards (I have the WoL, my sibling has the original), I want a Dark knight on my side, and I know I want Ramza to have the dual hitting ability But are there any other tips anyone can give? I wanna impress my sibling while having a blast with the game 😁
Thanks man! I basically had to rewrite all the scripts for this, and dig up old footage hoping I had enough to fill out each section. I was pleased with the result and gave me a chance to incorporate some new motion graphics techniques I picked up over the course of the series. At the end of the day it's a good cap to finish things off and glad I can put this up on the shelf and call it done. Hi, am starting to play fft wotl, am reading about the arithmetician to de-level through abilities, is best way to grow stats but, i don't understand how does that works
I have a tutorial video on how to Grow Characters with Super Stats that touches on the basics and which classes to use to get the best results - you can find it in the FFT Tutorials playlist!
Squire also have accumulate. It is key to have as a second skill when you are training another job. No throwing rocks and have a mime copying three people using accumulate and that thing can one punch ultima.
Also the wizard does not increase your magic attack rather increases the amount of mp you have. I believe only the mime increases your magic attack. I don't play war of the lions so maybe that got patched.
Correct - Black Mages have the highest MA class stat, but standard growth rates. Mimes are the only generic job with actual MA growth, with Mastered Onion Knight being the exception.
I've always been curious if it was possible to make a Tactics PVP game, but kind of in the same vein as Warhammer 40k Killteam. So a smaller core group of units but still having the FFT Job flexibility just with different abilities being now scaled on a point buy rating system kind of like they are in in the base game, but more streamlined/normalized for a PVP scenario. This is a close second.
I tried my hand at creating a points system as a way to balance vanilla Tactics for pvp, but it's a lot of bookkeeping. I'd say the @tacticsleague pvp mod is the best version of a balance pass for competitive pvp. It's a little bit of a departure from vanilla, but nothing that a round or two of melee won't get you caught up with. Best part is the increase in viable combinations of units; even squires are legit!
The BEST build is a Thief/Monk build. You steal everything you can and heal like a mother f___er. Your speed is off the charts and you get lots of turns. I've played through FF tactics at least 5 times and that is my favorite character build. In fact all my characters had Monk as a secondary skill by my 5th playthrough.
Steal and Heal is my new favorite moniker! 😍 Steal is definitely strong on a Monk, and benefits from Brawler that comes innately. I can definitely see the benefit from an unarmed Thief with high bravery too! Thanks for sharing your experience, Sidney! 🙏
Thanks so much for checking out the content, and the Unique characters are on the way! I would like to finish up the Livestream series first just to get that out of the way, then it's go time for our favorite companions. 💪
Samurai was my favorite class, being able to instantly cast offensive and supportive spells in this game is beyond broken, people like to favor Dragons but I think that Samurais is way stronger and a nice pick for a second class.
Thanks for sharing, William! 🙏 I agree, Samurai get slept on because offensive Iaido abilities aren't as powerful as a primary skill, unless you're female and bump your MA up like crazy. They have great melee power, though, and would highly recommend one as straight-forward bruiser with some utility and support. 💪
I almost always run Ramza as a Squire with Draw Out with all magic gear. I also run it on a Black Mage and it's insane how much damage they can do; substantially stronger than casting magic.
Dragoons with doublehand are ridiculous. You can literally jump to anyone and one shot them. Also their auto attacks do insane amount of damage. Samurai has more utility but damage wise the dragoon far outclasses it.
I used to make a squad of Thief just to steal Ragnarok, elemental pistols and Diamond gear . Man i used to be so dirty hahahaha good old times with this game.
Hey Marcos, thanks for sharing! I always thought of bringing nobility and class to Thiefs once I get them in my party. It's the Thiefs who aren't on my side that are dirty! 😅
Haha that's fair, GA! Chemists have too many notable abilities for my presentation! I'm a little torn on MP restoration, because Mana Shield usually goes on my melee units and it's paired with Manafont. My casters tend to use Shirahidori, so by the time they've run out of MP hopefully they've blasted the enemy with spells.
I disagree that jp boost is the only real necessity for squire, focus is amazing for a replacement for the wait command. Knights are better, in my opinion with rend magick, rend speed, rend power, and rend mp. At least then you have the ability to have a thief steal the gear that a knight would destroy. Also I suggest as mandatory for any character that can't equip an offhand item the perry skill. As mages gain a massive 20% perry chance from their rods. I've only just started replaying the war of the lions version and don't know the perry chance for knight swords. But I would think a shield would be better in that case. For samurai with perry perhaps the 2 handed skill may come in handy. I dunno the party chance for katanas
On the PS1 version, I had forgot to save for a bit, and like an idiot, sent out all my characters on jobs. Moved one spot, and ran into a random battle that was 10+ Monks. It is probably a "oh I f'ed up" moment in gaming I'll never forget.

Steal and Heal is my new favorite moniker! 😍 Steal is definitely strong on a Monk, and benefits from Brawler that comes innately. I can definitely see the benefit from an unarmed Thief with high bravery too!
Thanks for sharing your experience, Sidney! 🙏
I got my copy from my brother as a way to pay back a loan. Thanks, brother.
Good on you to give him a loan 👍
pleasee do the special characters with their special starting jobs. Really love your contentt btw!!!
Thanks so much for checking out the content, and the Unique characters are on the way! I would like to finish up the Livestream series first just to get that out of the way, then it's go time for our favorite companions. 💪
Where do I get the explanations for the numbers on the growth stats?
There's another video that was posted a couple of years ago. Included tips for de- and re-leveling.
Hold up where can play multiplayer tactics?
Check out the links in the description for everything you need! 👍
Omg thanks
The PSP version of WotL has multiplayer @@Nurseakeem
Ahh.... I remembered when I made 5 dark knights for myself........... it was hell
That's Dark Knights for you, dragging you down to their level. 😈🔥
And no wait time, and no mp cost! 🙌
Dragoons with doublehand are ridiculous. You can literally jump to anyone and one shot them. Also their auto attacks do insane amount of damage. Samurai has more utility but damage wise the dragoon far outclasses it.
The Chemist's Potions healing values should've been % based cuz an X potion is useless when u have like 700 HP
Hope they have another fftactics prequel for ramza father balbanes campaign on eastern continent
@@TacticsLive Spoke like a Balthier hahaha Allright, Mr Treasure Hunter.
U forgot to say about Samurai`s shirahadori, which is most cheaty passive skill in the game.
Indeed I did not mention it verbally, but it is third in notable abilities on the side of the screen. 👍
Hold up... Wheres Holy Knight? Is it not obtainable?
No
What does best stat growth even mean bexause those are not the stats they grow the best... Knights grow health the best so why is it PA??
Whaa Chemist not having Hi-Ether as a notable. It comes in clutch vs mp drains or when you need it like 10%.
I wish they quoted the skills still tho
One of the biggest losses in the PSP port!
Arithmetic plus blade grasp is broken like how could that be a job same with Orran’s job 😂
Arithmetician... bolt3 and a full party wearing rubber boots.
Solid! 💪
It’s the greatest game of all time.
All good points, thanks for sharing your perspective! 🙌
No to the axe or flail. They do random damage.

Oops all monks
On the PS1 version, I had forgot to save for a bit, and like an idiot, sent out all my characters on jobs. Moved one spot, and ran into a random battle that was 10+ Monks. It is probably a "oh I f'ed up" moment in gaming I'll never forget.
Very nice, please keep up with the nice work
