This tier list is really spot on with details for each people never consider. I'd just put Orlandeau and Balthier in their own tier and Bard dead last lol
I've been waiting for this kind of tier list! No more S-rank calc! Cid should have had his own tier labeled "Cid" lol I didn't know Speechcraft is based on MA. Totally going to create a Magic build off of that.
Thanks so much! Yeah some of those tier lists gotta realize or factor other things too. And yeah I should have put Orlandeau and Balthier in their own tier lol
A weird little tidbit about Reis is due to her stats and innate Dual Wield, she makes an insane Monk if you equip Brawler. I think to best make use of her lackluster elemental skills, you can equip your characters with element-absorbing gear and use her as a healer of sorts when needed. Holy absorb is on a lot of end game items, for one thing. As for a secondary job, Geomancy seems like a no-brainer due to her high PA and MA. Her major weakness is a lack of evasion from gear, so the obvious choice is to give her Samurai's evasion reaction; unless you want her to have Counter and just tank the hits with her high HP.
You're not wrong at all in what you are saying and I agree with it. I place her very high in my anything goes tier list. But this is just using her in Dragonkin only more barebones. No other abilities from other things etc.
@@J7Jase Oh yeah, I wasn't disagreeing with anything here. Kind of on the same principal of Ramza's Squire, they both are made even crazier with other class abilities.
@@blackcatonyoutube Oh yeah 100%. Reis can be built in so many cool ways. I still wish the unique base jobs had different support abilities and etc. Unless you count Zalbaag. Lol.
I love these videos! Long time FFT fan, it's my 3rd favorite FF tbh, it's nice to see this much thought and effort put toward an awesome game. I agree with just about everything on this list, although I value Time Mage a bit higher than Thief other than the Move + 2 that can be attained early in game. Ninja is my favorite!
Thank you for the wonderful comment and great taste in video games. 👍I really love FFT and its my favorite game so I wanted to dedicate a channel mostly to it. I can totally get behind what you are saying and once again great taste and choice. 👍
@@J7Jase I saw someone mention something about monster tier list. I'd like to see maybe a npc list, Olan SS tier lol! And my favorite part of the game a music tier list. Anything FFT is a great discussion.
On the old Playstation version of the game my cousins got stuck in a save game they couldn't get past and since they had saved their only slot just before the battle they could only move forward or restart (Save games were very precious in the 90s and memory cards were expensive) They brought it to my house from out of town and asked for help next time they saw me. I made 1 change: I added Mustadio to the battle, a character they ignored because he only had 3 skills. I kept the demons from acting and focused on the boss till he died thus saving their campaign. Even at A tier I feel Mustadio is underrated.
It's been a hot minute since I last played the game, but if I'm remembering things correctly, it should be noted that Summoners can actually "target" their allies with offense type summon spells, but it still omits your allies from being hit by the actual spell effect. So you can essentially make your other units become walking homing beacons to ensure that your longer charging offensive summons can still hit targets even during long cast times while your other units are taking the fight (and the summoner summons) to the enemy.
I mean yeah but this is a base class tier list. Summon damage falls off later and you won't have access to Swiftness/Short Charge. Which is the point of the video.
A few things that could make the Archer better would be allowing the Charge ability to lock on to the unit you want to attack or at least let u move and re-target an enemy while keeping your original Charge if you're still charging on your next turn, a base jump stat of 5, and add a new piece of equipment just for Archers that is equipped in the sheild slot, something like the wrist guards people wear when they shoot bows, it could add a little evasion like a sheild and increase bow damage (without increasing speed stat, wouldn't be fair for 1 job class to have equipment that raises speed +5 or whatever)
I love that you put Cloud in D tier, just slightly better than Mimes. His stats are lackluster, a weak weapon requirement for ability usage, and horrible charge times… I was so utterly disappointed when I wasted the time to get him 😢😢😢
Nice video. Like another commenter said, I'd put Cid and Balthier in their own tier. Also is it just me or is this video quieter than your other videos?
Since ranking class based on their own merits, does this also include interactions with others that can happen? I only ask because you mentioned archers as having not the greatest damage output, however if I'm remembering correctly, throw stone activates speed save, right? A female archer with the regen perfume equipped can have her damage ramp up in battle by quite a bit just pelting her and either letting her heal in between, with it eventually becoming a non issue if she's getting two turns or more per every one stone received. I know this requires drawing out battles a bit but it's still using the mechanics of the class itself to do well.
Looks good, only thing I’d swap is Knight with Mediator, Knights have only melee range and break skills, whereas Mediators dictate the most broken stats in the game and at least have guns. Just my personal opinion though 😅
A thought had occurred to me: with ‘storyline’ characters you can recruit, do they have any dialogue boxes with enemies you face after recruiting them? I can think of an example: you eventually face Folmarv, and you recruit his daughter, Meliadoul. But I never raised/used her. Would they have words together in battle, if enough turns have passed? Or do the storyline recruits turn mute and generic after they’re in the party? Orlandeau never said anything extra to any other enemies, as one of the most used teammates, I mean he Could have had verbal barbs with a number of late-game enemies. Anyone got anything on this?
Agrias has one in the Gaffgarion fight at the execution/gallows. She also has some additional dialogue in the optional disorder in the order sidequest also she has that scene with Ovelia at Zeltennia. Not a battle I know but still. Meliadoul will have extra dialogue with him and also the battle with Kletian/whatever his new name is in WOTL. Orlandeau will also talk in the optional disorder in the order which is exclusive to War of the LIons and the Lion War mod. Hope that helps and clears things up
If I remember correctly when I played this game.. probably 25 years ago or something.. I found lancer (dragoon) was completely overpowered because you could just jump off the map and be invulnerable to any damage.
I wouldn't say its overpowered just because Jump is very slow on dragoon. Jump is better used on other characters with higher speed since your character can come down jump jump faster and do damage to finish off enemies
@@J7Jase I haven't played it in forever.. can you do a melee attack and then jump in the same turn? If so you can attack and then be invulnerable in the air.
Honestly orator should be s because of taming monsters like red chocobo and 3 headed dragon. And also the only class to increase faith. Or at least a rank lol. Time mage should also be s cause haste and slow alone makes them so good and teleport! Archer should be like lowest tier. I mean? U need to do max investments and give her the best bow as possible or the level up and down glitch just to make her good lol. I mean I guess with very far ranged weapon and knight skill makes her decent I guess. Overall good lists say? Wonder if u do monster tier list next?
perhaps depends how you argue it. I can see and understand those points though Orator base class has a very low invite percentage and survivability to be able to entice those monsters since its based off of MA stat which is lacking on them. You have to remember this is a base class tier list only so only things they can do within their own no mixing and matching. Archers have concentration so they can land hits well now if this was anything goes they would be a bit lower
@@J7Jase yea so the best way to make use of orator at the beginning of the game espcially if u do depend on tame. u can have any mages level up and they get magic and u could probally get like 40-50 percent by the time u get to like level 40-50 lol. and as black mage or time mage with orator 2nd skill. but yea by themselve I do agree with u lol
