Just finished watching the 6 episode HBO series about this. It was a really good show. The same guy who made the HBO series The Wire also made this. If any of you'll haven't watch The Wire, it's a 5 season show from '02 to '08. In my opinion it's the best police and gang show ever made!!!
Anybody who watched the wire will tell u its the greatest t.v show EVER. It takes u into the perspective of all the different ppl living in a city(Baltimore) From the police, criminals, drug addicts, kids in the neighbourhood, school, teachers, journalists etc. @@andykeeney1530

I don't understand why everyone is so shocked by his crimes? He was only every acting according to his training and experience. I don't think for a moment that nobody higher up realized what he was doing, they knew but chose to turn a blind eye. He was getting results, convictions and drugs and guns off the street, nobody wanted to know more.
Just watched this on Amazon. Well done. Excellent. This was another black mark on American law enforcement. Hope they are all enjoying their time in prison. Unfortunately, criminal behavior by those entrusted to protect and serve continues in cities across the country.
Unfortunately this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the "blue backing the blue". Especially in Baltimore and the surrounding cities & states. You'd like to think that the FBI "clean up" made a permanent difference but that's just not true. After working in Baltimore for the past year, in some instances working directly in hand with city/county/state officers, its really scary how apparent it is. The whole culture of watching out for one another & not being a "rat" or "snitch" has got to go. It only takes one good cop turning a blind eye to become a bad cop and perpetuate the "blue back the blue" even further. Police are supposed to uphold the law and be examples of that. Not rob, terrorize, and destroy the local community. I don't know if anyone is currently doing it on a Wayne Jenkins type level. But the sad reality is, its only a matter of time before a new cop/police force is on the news for the exact same thing.
A couple of these guys are already out. Hersl has terminal cancer, he asked for compassionate release but the judge agreed with prosecutors and said lol no
I lived there at the time. I believe there was 17 officers who were arrested for it. Also the whole central booking jail was being run by gangs and one member knocked up 2 female correction officers at the same time
The thing about criminals is they compartmentalize their lives, they hide it well. Especially if they're smarter, that being said, other people had to have known something. Even if it was just a rumor.
This is a global problem/issue, here in Australia it’s no different. Pretty soon they’ll be replacing these guys with robots, and that’s going to open up another can of worms entirely…don’t think this can ever be solved really.
@1:10 “In Baltimore, the officers would stop you, they make take your money but they wouldn’t arrest you…”. What do you mean “in Baltimore”? The federal government, state police and local police do this everyday to American citizens nationwide. What is the difference between pocketing it directly or using it to pay the over time and bonuses? Or purchasing equipment and “stuff for the department”. To the victimized citizen, there is no difference at all.
One way is legal, one isnt. Stop pretending to be even stupider than you already are being: you're stupid enough. The Roman Emperors had trouble with crooked cops: two millennia won't change greed.
He knew. Then got fired and the new mayor said he was going to put an end to it then reinstated the task force and got fired 6 months later for tax evasion. Shits crazy
In 65 years on the planet, I have yet to see anything (fact, fiction or faction) that portrays Baltimore in a positive light. Even Detroit - a city trying to resurrect itself - seems to hold more hope for it's inhabitants than Baltimore. I get that the folks who call the city home may have a very different POV and I apologize if I'm only seeing the negatives. Police Corruption isn't restricted to one cop in one city but the stats are not pretty.
Just watched. Dear God. God Bless those, BRAVE +Strong + INNOCENT people. I hope the homeless man got some therapy and that he is doing ok. I hope they are all ok. Maybe the man with the horses could let the man who was really struggling hang out or work with him. A little equine therapy.
And I thought the police and prosecution in North Colorado and Southern Wyoming was beyond incompetent and corrupt..... Sgt J. Bpd And some Gpd (Colo.) Along with some from the WY state line?!?.... Should write an instruction manual.
I'm still trying to understand.. he robbed criminals AND innocent people right? I really don't care if he robbed criminals like the looters they talked about in the trailer. Those people got off scot-free for their crimes anyways. But robbing innocent people on some fake traffic stop BS is definitely worthy of jail time.
Got a question for all the police nerds whats the point of having a vest that says police on it and wearing plainclothes why not just wear a regular uniform i thought the purpose of plain clothes division was to be undercover
They were also driving unmarked car. These cops, would walk their target area - looking like civilians. They would quickly wear the vest when using their police powers.
“I Got A Monster” is what Wayne Jenkins would say after he made a big bust. He usually would refer to drug dealers as monsters when he was strong arming them. He was the actually monster
Tbh I would prefer this guy rather than letting criminals being on the streets. He still arrested criminals yet being one himself. And I mean there are way worse criminals out there than this corrupt police so calling him a monster seems a little overboard but I don't know too much from this story so...Anyway I will watch this documentary.
I grew up in O’Donnell Heights in Baltimore City and still live in the City. This is a result of decades of failed Democratic Leadership. People are surprised when like 3 of 4 last 4 Mayors are convicted criminals? 😂 The only difference is that the Leadership was for the criminals. Baltimore is a different beast. You can’t expect to stop the beast, whom doesn’t play by the rules, with an anecdote that plays BY the rules. History has proven this time and time again, both with the Police and the Military. The years since all this happened, it’s a 100% fact that the GTTF was a necessary evil, against an even more unnecessary evil (drugs and murders). Since, Baltimore City has been in the top 3 (if not) the top City when it comes to murders. The number of deaths from ODs is on another level since they took down the GTTF. They robbed criminals and drug dealers, while they had control of the City. Now the criminals run the City. Idc if anyone thinks I’m wrong, but don’t embarrass yourself by saying I’m wrong, if you’ve haven’t lived in the City the last 20 years. People whom live here, felt this was disgusting and wrong at first. Since, they realize just how much of a difference they actually did have being on the streets.
so selling the drug dealers drugs and planting evidence is a necessary evil lol...they did nothing to stop the problems in Baltimore...corruption is not the answer
This is called stupid thinking. No one said anything near related to "Get rid of all cops" but you have to promote that concept so you can ignore the horrible reality. Its stupid thinking. You asked a question of which you don't know their answer but then you go ahead and answer it for them on your own. You got voices in your head, seek help. Police are often the problem.
I get what you’re saying I really do. Yes police officers do rob bad guys of their cash, that’s been happening forever however the same cop that would rob a drug dealer is the same cop that might rob an innocent man in custody which does happen occasionally.
As a police officer, he's held to a higher standard. His job is to arrest them and later provide truthful testimony to put the individual away. It's not in his job description to rip drug dealers. He was a greed driven psychopath and a worse criminal than the ones he was tasked with arresting.
