I was lucky because my mom tried it but seen what it was doing to her friends so decided to stop early. My homies weren’t so fortunate. And Gary Webb didn’t commit suicide he was killed by the CIA. That's because they're bought and controlled by the CIA, people need to realize journalism been dead for a long time everything in those papers and mainstream news is propaganda look at the war between Russia and Ukraine the CIA did a coup in Ukraine in 2014 and put a dictator in office this set a lot of things in motion plus the gave the nazis there power that already hate anyone that isn't Ukrainian they're nationalist so they prepared them to start war by attacking the Donbas Russian speaking population and attacking Crimea and Russia putin tried to get them to abide by the minsk agreement they refused so he went to the UN etc nothing thanks to America and its nato allies yet we're told putin started it and wants to invade other countries to bring back the ussr which is bs, he has said the USSR was something that shouldn't have existed. He after Ukraine to get them to come to negotiations and free the southern region that doesn't wanna be apart of Ukraine after being bombed for 8 years nonstop and keep Ukraine neutral as a buffer between Russia and nato.

      That was the whole plan all along. It's not exactly a secret that Reagan was an old racist toad. That's why he kicked off his presidential campaign in Philadelphia, Mississippi with a speech filled with racial dog whistle terms. That town was significant because it was where three civil rights workers were murdered by the kkk in the 60s. He was the guy carrying the flag for the racists who sadly didn't go away after the civil rights era

Three strikes was designed to destroy an entire black generation while white drug users and dealer using coke got much lighter sentencing. Now, with meth and fentanyl on the rise in mostly rural white communities, they get actual healthcare and a pat on the behind. I lived in Nicaragua during and after the revolution and I can tell you, that many Nicaraguans were totally and utterly dismayed, when they heard the names of the people manning the contra leadership. Nicaragua was a country of 2,8 million people and everyone knew the names of these Managua gangsters. (Which is also why the Sandinistas got so much support from the normal people - they did NOT want these names to be back in Managua).

    I knew about this story peripherally at the time, doing a paper on the Iran-Contra scandal in highschool, and then later having a friend who was taken down at the peak of her law career because of the extent of her cocaine addiction. I became interested in Gary Webb's work, and was shocked and saddened by his death. I don't know what the statute of limitations are for what the Agency was doing, but even at this late date, some accountability would send a message. Accountability is something that's been lacking too long in certain segments of our society.
    Thank you for keeping this story fresh. This needs to be remembered. 💔🤬

      There will never be accountability because nations care more about fighting their enemies (i.e. Communism in the 80s) than prosecuting CIA agents that looked the other way. Look at Oliver North - he took the fall for the Iran-Contra scandal - where military parts were being sold to Iran in order to give money to the Contras. LOTS of conservatives see him as a hero. He never served time in prison. He got a "suspended prison sentence", parole, and a fine. Heck, the guy had a show on FOX News.

    • @lauraly2712
      @lauraly2712 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      This piece completely relies on what was said by 5 sources at the most, so what's up with the "tremendous amounts of research?" Your father made have done much research but Vice's piece leaves very much unexplained. They couldn't even describe how the cocaine was supposed to have gotten from the fields and smuggled into the U.S. The contras were encamped in Honduras and coca is not grown in those areas of Central America to which they had access. They had no ships, motor boats, or planes for transporting contraband from the tiny area where governments tolerant of them allowed them to operate. They were not like FARC in Colombia that were virtually the masters of much of the coca farming territory in Colombia.
      The street seller in this piece talks about making as much as $3 million a day but the Contras hardly had any money to purchase weapons after U.S. support was halted and some weapons shipments from Iran ended. So how was it that the contras made nothing from this lucrative trade? By 1989 their side had anyway won elections in Nicaragua. The easiest thing is to point a finger at the contras which the NY Times made into some sinister terrorist group at the same time as it kept whitewashing Sandinista terror and suppression of civil freedoms. You father did a great injustice by making it appear that the very few individuals who he heard connected to the drug trade were practically the leaders of the contras, thus throwing a stain on them. He didn't bother to investigate that their association with the contras was long ended and the contras themselves looked askance at them. It would be good if actual research was undertaken both on the crack trade and the contras. A report consisting of quick not taking on what others say is not what qualifies as genuine research.

    I have a friend who was SAS (Australia) during the Vietnam War. He told me that one of his duties was working in 'bagging and tagging' the dead. A part of that job was opening cavities in corpses and then shoving bags of white powder inside. He thought (or knew) that it was heroin. That was what he was directed to do. Often these bodies were destined for San Francisco. I'm confident that he's not lying and is telling the truth.

      A black organized crime NYC gangster by the name of Nicky Barnes had his crew hide drugs within the coffins of dead soliders. He got them from the Golden triangle area in southeast Asia and all of this information can be looked up online and of course in books. He got drugs from the Golden triangle inorder to avoid buying drugs at a much higher price from Italian mobsters and also to not have to deal with the Italians anymore. Also SAS is a British special forces unit. They are not from Australia.

      The CIA does not work on domestic issues. *That is not what they do.*
      They collect foreign intelligence. The report you’re discussing is what they do.
      The CIA is not a law enforcement agency. The CIA *can’t* arrest people. The CIA doesn’t and can not “sell crack”.
      They work on international terrorism and gather foreign intelligence overseas. They collect intelligence. That intelligence they collect (like the intelligence memo you are referring to) goes into a little thing called a PDB. Presidential Daily Brief. They brief the president about it and the PRESIDENT issues some directive regarding that memo on how to deal with the intelligence that was collected.
      The DEA is out selling and buying narcotics EVERY DAY. Today. Yesterday and probably back then, too.
