state law is 25 feet bud 1000 dollar fine and class a mis ( crime ) he is lucky and you and him are both stupid ps 25 feet means from her car any cop car the person they stopped car and any people meant to be on said scene. Dud was like 15 feet away at max more like 10 12 from her car he broke the law he is a dipshit
Agree + a smartass? You pulled him over for an hour man and then you want to arrest him after that. He wasn't even driving wrecklessly he had his lights on a couple of feet too close to a car in the opposite lane. WTF. Dumb ass cop.
That second one is insane. Cop makes him do an hour worth of sobriety tests, blows .000, and he STILL brings him in so he can test the poor driver for drugs (which he passed). All because he "fumbled" with his registration. There needs to be serious consequences for officers who have power trips like that.
These people deal with drugged people all the time. I don't think they have problems differentiating a nervous person with a drug person. He had probably taken something that wouldn't be seen on the tests, since he was regularly tested in school. I feel like he pushed the "just test me dude!" a little too hard, they both know most of the drugs out there won't be seen on tests. That said, they have a quota to fill. Perhaps it was a slow night, maybe they had seen him around some other known people. I don't think the cop wanted to spend his night like that either, talking to teenagers for hours sounds like a dreadful job.
Fun fact: the guy in the second case sued the department (for obvious reasons), and now the cop is suing him for defamation for showing the body cam footage to the public. Which when you think about it, It’s completely and utterly absurd. It’s not defamatory to show your actions verbatim. If your actions make you look bad, it’s likely because they were bad actions you shouldn’t have done.
in all transparency, no they werent suing just because of the body footage, he was suing bc the kid made some dumbass comments during his case that the officers took advantage of and used against him, not to take away from the kid suing, officers definitely deserved what they had coming, but it's important to not say anything during your own legal case that can be incriminating/used against you lol
Sad part? The cop seemed unhinged enough to be willing to pull his gun if he felt insulted enough. Lose-lose situation in my book: you either take the shit, or make a ballsy move and risk a lethal response in defense of your own human rights.
@@UberMangaka I got that vibe too. And said officer's behavior in that encounter, is known as "Posturing". He thought, because he had a badge he could do whatever he wanted. So what does he do? Try to intimidate kids to assault him, after he's already assaulted one of them. Good on those kids for not falling into the trap. And the absolutely pathetic "I'm the victim here' attitude when the other officer arrived? He might as well have been made of glass. The officer knew from jump the Chief was lying. Even so, he did his due diligence. Taking statements and such as evidence, etc. Just a reminder that there are both good, and... not so good, cops.
that second one disgusts me. that cop desperately tried to ruin that young man’s reputation by ignoring his pleas for a breathalyzer, and instead made him perform unnecessary sobriety tests. then after he blew a 0.00, he arrested him for smoking weed??? which he didn’t even do??? crazy.
It gets worse they tried suing him the cop and chief for defamation once the guy posted the video footage and added his commentary such as the cop lying about his red eyes, the cop mis counting the steps in a sobriety test, stuttering, putting bare hands on the mouth piece of a breathalyzer, him failing to do an example of the sobriety test.
Assuming reason why u said it gotten "worse" is bcuz the lawsuit didn't go well on the kids end? IF that's the case then that's crazy , cuz I def would of sued As well as anyone un that position I hope....
I agree the cop was not good, but i also dont think the suspect is right when he says that the police officer will "look stupid" when the test shows 0. Here we dont even do these silly sobriety tests they have a funnel to put onto the handheld tester and most everyone stopped for any reason gets to blow toward it. It will then show if there is any amount of alcohol in the breath and if there is, the police officer will put a tube on and the test will be repeated. It is never silly to do routine test, anyone that has not been drinking has nothing to fear from this simple test.
@@Adnan-B05N1A What i get from tboy817 comments "it gotten worse" because the cop and chief tried to sue the victim for defamation since The victim posted a video with his own commentary of the situations. I dont know if i am right or not,but that was my understanding from his comments .
Crazy thing is that if you lie to your department as a cop you’re fired asap but this shit gets swept under the rug. That’s one reason why I left being a cop.

I had to spend 7 years in college; do 2 years and 150 hours at 2 hours per week of supervision; practical clinical work; pass not one, not two, but THREE comp exams; to become a therapist. These guys can do 16 or 20 weeks of training and be able to destroy the rest of your life out of narcissism. Seems legit.
I get what you’re saying. Maybe if they paid the same salary as a therapist they could attract better candidates. Then they would be able to weed those types out more quickly because they wouldn’t be just trying to fill positions with the few people willing to take the job. Paying off that kind of student loan debt on an officer’s salary would take forever. Also, not many people want to have their lives in danger on a daily basis for the low pay & long, bad hours. The reality is that when the pay is low, the work is hard, & the treatment by the public is disrespectful at best, the quality of candidates reflects this. The good guys no longer think it’s worth it anymore. The obvious solution would be to have higher salaries & higher pre-qualifications in order to apply. Unfortunately, governments are too busy wasting tax dollars everywhere else so it’ll never happen.
@@txs6648 When I was in my first few years I made 24k a year. It wasn’t until I got my first certification that my pay changed - and even then only to 32k a year. The state police here start at 28-32k a year. Local LEO right around that. So, I don’t think pay is what you’re looking at. What you’re looking at is a mindset; a dangerous one wherein the community is the enemy and they are unquestionable because authority.
No one pays for cops with their own money. That is the difference. If millions of people were paying to talk to a cop for a hundred dollars an hour, there would be more strict requirements. Instead, no one wants to be a cop, yet cities need cops, so they have to drop the requirements

Though in case of a poor doctor not knowing their job all you'll hear about a patient's -eath is akin to "his body didn't make it" (it's never the doctor's fault, eh?) In case of police, their incompetence, blissfulness and fear for their own job might land people in -rison or financial/emotional ruin, trying to defend themselves from wrong accusations and foregone conclusions. If they're not able to handle innocent cases, peaceful provocations, are they really fit to do their jobs in other situations, including use of -irearms? Impeccable behaviour is far too costly to teach, add to that personal quirks and insecurities people will try to compensate for while in a position of power. The second case is a perfect example (night cyclists), the officer is 1) old "know it all" 2) a head in dept 3) and a policeman. That's the explanation of his actions and psychology; knowing the law and how to conduct would merely be a tranquilizing brake to his innate behaviour. Apropos auditors. @@2genders-tk2ue I kind of always have to laugh at that. If things are so bad, why would you not only keep doing the same thing, but keep doing more of it?
The term "defund the police" is a poor term for what I think most people want. Police Officers kind of serve a wide net of services that they aren't always prepared for. For example, they deal with a lot of mental health situations. Now people going through mental health crisis can be unstable, and police have an ability to defend with lethal force if they feel threatened. Because there are a lot of guns in the United States, it leads to a lot of situations where police have to use their weapon. One of the suggested alternatives is diverting certain funding away from law enforcement(defund) into a mental health crisis team that would deal with those types of calls instead of police. Then there is corruption. The idea is drop funding for agencies that are/have been accused of corruption or employ known corrupt law enforcement officers. Now I don't particularly agree with it because, like you said, it doesn't solve the problem. The problem is more that a lot of prosecutors/police departments work hand in hand and the people who investigate abuses of power or corruption are highly tied in with the department. It's kind of impossible to avoid because they work together. So the better solution there would be to have some type of independent board that is responsible for these types of investigations. Regardless of if the investigation is partial or impartial, it tends to look really bad when an officer is accused of misconduct and the police department puts out a statement saying something to the effect of "the officers actions were within the perimeters of their legal authority and justified by A,B,C, etc." Needless to say it's a complicated issue that like many things requires multifaceted solutions. @@petervanquish

Had a cop once come to my door and I got to "have a nice day" them There was regrettably a deceased person found outside my apartment complex, across the street and not on the property. Due to proximity to the road and apartments, the road was shut off and cops were present on the apartment complex controlling their scene as they have the right to. I, knowing my rights, decided to walk by while recording video, and had a brief consensual encounter with an officer asking them if we could work a solution so a resident around the corner (cut off from getting home by the scene) could get to their apartment, because I recognized them. The officers were somewhat frustrated by the request, and understandibly so as it would require the person to go through the scene, but ultimately landed on escorting them to where I was standing on the other side of the fence. After, the officer I spoke to asked me for my name and I politely declined to identify fully, but said they could address me as "Logan", for purposes of cordiality. I was then asked for my last name and DOB, I politely declined. New Mexico is stop and ID but requires reasonable suspicion and NM cops do not have qualified immunity, so I knew that going in. Because of this request, I responded by asking them for their name and badge number, and they provided it and the contact was ended peacefully. The officer I interacted with was polite and professional, but later another officer came to my door asking not if I knew anything about the scene (which would be a reasonable follow up), but why I was recording it (which is not a reasonable follow up). I stated through my lovely locked security door that I did not have anything to do with the scene aside from my consensual encounter with the officers earlier, and that I do not have to answer that question per my 5th amendment rights, and that my right to do so is protected by the first amendment and subsequent supreme court rulings. I did not interfere with the scene, only passed by it. Therefore they do not have probable cause for the stop, or to enter, or to speak to me beyond my consent. At one point he asked if he could "Come in so we could have a quick chat" and I immediately said "No. We are chatting just fine right here" We went back and forth for a moment as the officer navigated an emotional swell I'm sure was associated to realizing he couldn't functionally intimidate me, and after I requested his name and badge number and obnoxiously repeated the questions "Do you have a warrant? "What is your probable cause or reasonable, articulable suspicion? What crime am I suspected of committing? What is the reason for this investigative detention?" a few times, and he got the picture after a minute. At last, he asked me "where did you get your law degree?" to which I replied "same place you got yours sir " (indirectly implying he's about as qualified as I am) and he deflated and seemed to be done trying. After I saw that realization, I simply said "have a nice day officer, be safe out there." and closed the door. I then watched on my Ring doorbell as the cop mulled around for a minute outside stewing, making radio calls, and talked to his fellow officer and then decided it wasn't worth it and left. Before leaving though, he looked right at the ring doorbell and THEN apparently decided they weren't going to press the issue further. I guess he thought it might be best if his Sargent didn't see that clip, and we both know they can pull them. The more composed you can stay the better your odds are. Recording devices preserve an objective record of the truth and you should use them in every encounter with police. I wasn't rude, either, I was mildly impatient with the non-consensual contact though. I wouldn't recommend adopting an impatient attitude - I just have a low tolerance for games - I wouldn't recommend vocalizing any dissent other than that which is backed by expressly and explicitly established rights, but stay collected regardless. I was on a ride-along with him and saw how the police must conduct their work. And justice for all!
The problem in the USA is that the Police, especially in the Western and Southern States, tend to shoot first and ask questions later, and most of the times get away clean because the judges are family, friends, clan members, from the same cult, etc.

These episodes should actually be a show on TV. We all need to be enlightened about the abuses happening out there. How about a class in the schools about knowing your rights? These young folks were smart and impressive. The officers certainly perfected their acting and sadly had no issue being dishonest in their dealings. The whole thing kind of makes the officers look like criminals. They are determined to be right even when they are clearly wrong.

Here we dont even do these silly sobriety tests they have a funnel to put onto the handheld tester and most everyone stopped for any reason gets to blow toward it.
It will then show if there is any amount of alcohol in the breath and if there is, the police officer will put a tube on and the test will be repeated.

The second case is a perfect example (night cyclists), the officer is 1) old "know it all" 2) a head in dept 3) and a policeman. That's the explanation of his actions and psychology; knowing the law and how to conduct would merely be a tranquilizing brake to his innate behaviour.

And cops are usually terrible at de escalating tension. Even when they’re good with people, they’re intimidating to people. So it’s best to use the right tools for the situation.

The problem with allowing that is that all police will at some point not be judicious with it and rough up the wrong person. But that doesn’t mean that it wouldn’t have been warranted in all cases either. It’s a tough one.
I appreciate the one officer who admitted his lack of knowledge. That's a real human right there.
The lies told by these cops were outrageous, and it seems when they can't find a reason to arrest, they make up false allegations since their ego is big regardless.
I’ve had cops lie on the stand I start questioning and getting passionate, the judge turns on me. Then holds me in contempt.
It happened to me where an off duty cop almost ran into me and my kid when he was blowing a stop sign. I sped up to miss him from nailing us. Would have killed my kid in the passenger side. He proceeded to get out and threaten me after I parked on my own will. He threatened to arrest me and impound my car and "call his boys" on me to get the job done. I repeated to him that he should be thanking me for safely evading an accident that HE almost caused because he was going to be late for dinner reservations with his wife (I watched where he went after). Flashed his badge in my face and when he saw the gun in my lap, and my death glare he said "we will just pretend like this never happened"... Yeah I'm sure you will or I'll sue you

Odor should not be admissible as PC or evidence. It's so subjective, and can't really be proven/disproven. It almost seems like anytime an officer "suspects" someone of DUI, they automatically "detect an odor".

Had a cop once come to my door and I got to "have a nice day" them
There was regrettably a deceased person found outside my apartment complex, across the street and not on the property.
We are chatting just fine right here"
We went back and forth for a moment as the officer navigated an emotional swell I'm sure was associated to realizing he couldn't functionally intimidate me, and after I requested his name and badge number and obnoxiously repeated the questions "Do you have a warrant? Cops often care more about how you treat them, than they do if the law is being broken, and will fabricate things based on their ego being challenged. Don't fall for it. Say what matters and exercise your right to shut up per the fifth at all other times
I hope that second cop with the dui stop was fired, jailed, and sued. This is absolutely ridiculous

I really believe we need a federal law requiring officers to have body-cams footage of all arrests made in uniform because there are still police and sheriff departments that don't use body-cams at all. I worked on a defendant's case from Polk Co., Florida, and I thought there was some mistake when there was no body-cams footage in Discovery. The Polk Co. Sheriff makes enormous busts practically every month and holds a press conference within a couple of days of the bust. These arrests make national headlines, but knowing what I now know, I definitely wouldn't put it past this sheriff to fabricate evidence in order to get a conviction.
