What is funny about all this is... On April 8, 2019, all members of the Baltimore City Council signed a memorandum calling for Pugh to resign as mayor. On April 25, 2019, FBI and IRS agents raided six locations, including two houses owned by Pugh, Baltimore City Hall, and a nonprofit organization on whose board Pugh served, On May 2, 2019, Pugh resigned as Mayor of Baltimore. November 20, 2019, she was indicted by a grand jury on 11 counts of fraud, tax evasion, and conspiracy in connection with the Healthy Holly book transactions. On February 27, 2020, Pugh was sentenced to three years in prison to be followed by three years of probation...
Moral of the story is Even the Mayor at thee time was CORRUPT.

I moved to Baltimore and was there from 2018 -2019.
It was such a well known fact that there was corruption and EVEN Mayer Pugh resigned and was charged.
I have never been in a place with more distrust of police.
The people have been marginalized and harshly ruled over for so long. The people of Baltimore namely the black citizens are the most resilient people I have ever met. Hard people. Suffering people. But they still get up and work to survive.
I learned how to hustle at anything while living in Baltimore.

I’ve never heard this story before but I am from New Orleans and the NOPD is also known to the citizens to be corrupt. They can continue to say that not all police officers are bad but they will refuse to give the citizens the power to check and balance corrupt activity. Each city needs to have an anonymous council of citizens that weigh in on police complaints so there can be as little confusion as possible.

Baltimore cops are ruthless, aholes, who will lock you up and take your money because they saw you walking down the street and decided to mess with you. There was one month back in 2009, i was locked up 4 times in a month for absolutely nothing. Not by any of these cops, but another cop we used to call "English". Since this happened, their trial and the riots, it has gotten a lot better though. Every Police department should have civilian independent oversight committees. That looks at all internal affairs department cases and has the ability to over ride any decisions made by internal affairs dept. And every one should be able to go to there governments police website and be able to look up any police officer by name or badge number and see any complaints made against that officer and if they were found guilty or innocent and if guilty what punishment was given to that officer. I live in Victoria, Australia and Victoria police refuse to have a civilian independent oversight committee so the public has set up a website and tries to get anyone that is making a complaint to photocopy it and send them a copy and tries to get public police complaints through the (FOIA) Freedom of information Act. And post it on a website. So anyone can at least see some of the information
