Fun fact: every generation of the GT-R, starting from the R32 have set a lap record at the Nürbugring. No wonder why Porsche were so salty and accused Nissan of cheating.
@@tom.m I won't call it cheating. Most of the cars that have set a lap record at the Ring was not 100% factory stock. Including Porsches, Vipers and etc. Porsche runs their cars with the deletion of A/C, Audio and Communication systems. Also with the racing bucket seat from the GT3 Cup race car. What made them look salty was that they accused Nissan of cheating without any proof. In my opinion those times doesn't matter and cannot be compared. Because we never know what damper settings, tyre pressures and weight reductions the manufacturer is using to shave off seconds for the actual lap time.
A thing I learned recently is if you look up the lap times for the GTR Skylines, You will find that the R32's lap was in wet conditions. in comparison to the R33 and R34. R32 did a lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 8:22.38, Key point here, That lap was In the wet. R33 did it in 7:59.887 In the dry. R34 managed a 7:52 again in the dry. But, at the end of the R32 in 1994 they took it around the Nürburgring Nordschleife and managed a time of 7:49 in the dry in a R32 N1 GTR. Because this was faster than the upcoming R33, it was kept quiet.
@@Kowalamaster Yes indeed, I personally think the R32 would've clocked somewhere between 8:05 to 8:10 in ideal conditions. Never heard of the R32 N1 7:49, any source?
In the second half of the 1980s I worked for a major automotive magazine, and went to Nissan to interview a few brasses, including Yasuharu Namba of NISMO. He was a man of small stature, friendly and gentle and yet not prone to over-familiarity, and I couldn't help sensing that he always had a couple of projects being developed inside his head at all times. When Yutaka Kume announced the 901 movement, almost everyone at the editorial office was skeptical as Nissan seemed like a basket case at the time, I was one of two who were convinced that they're going to pull it off. With hindsight, those were the heady, glory days: heroes could well be those mild-mannered middle-age men in suits and ties, with the fires of a teenager within them.
Wow you got to meet the legend! How fascinating. I wish there were more interviews and information about these guys out there. I really wanna make people a bigger focus in the car world, the designers and engineers deserve so much more praise.
@@the.squidd absolutely! The human story is so beautiful to provide the soul to the monsters we love so much. Not even five full minutes in and I'm loving the video! Thanks for this, it's bringing a tear to my eye learning the humanity, such a cool history.
In 1990 a gtr pulled up to the start line in a race track in japan.. it's competitors are starring at it's four round read brake lights..and for years that's all they ever see of it🔥
The story is so accurate. I’ve never seen a documentary on the R32 that touches on the subject of the R31 GTS-R’s HICAS system as well as the origins of the ATESSA-ETS which is exactly what made this a truly the most advanced production car at its time. Bravo to you guys for creating such a well researched tribute to this legendary car!
Fun fact, most of the racecars removed the hicas as the drivers felt it made the car less predictable, and to this day it's a very common item to delete on old Nissans.
@@TheOystei san Absolutely true. The over compensating nature of the HICAS system was felt counter intuitive to many professional drivers who were looking for of a slight understeer. I also remember quite a few drivers took out the ATESSA-ETS 4WD system for the very same reason.
@@sonny9054 so they chose flexibility over too much contained power. Understeer makes you keep your cornering position making it predictable, oversteer is is too much inertia on the corner practical wastes time. Its a reasonable thing Pro Drivers asked for.
As an Aussie watching this, you nailed the Godzilla era and the impact it had to motorsport in this country. The R31 and R32 GTRs were the aspiration of many a young petrol head (they still are!)
During that era Aussie had strict rules governing a certain percentage of Australian manufactured content in mass produced cars known as the Australian Design Rule (ADR). As a result Aussie GTRs were further developed by Nissan Australia and had better engine cooling and no 180 km/h speed limiter. They are better overall than JDM cars. ADR also led to improved versions of the Mazda RX7.
It probably wouldn't have matched the tone of this video, but I can't think about the GT-R period in Australia without thinking of Jim Richards 1992 Bathurst victory speech. With hind sight we see what a marvel the GT-R was but the crowd reactions of the time showed how many people thought the Nissan drivers had an "unfair" advantage.
Was hoping to see one of the Bathurst grid starts where the GTR's would just launch on the green light while the commodores and sierra's looked like they were still in park
Yep as a young guy I watched the r32gtr leave the other cars for dead.... Back then I was a Holden supporter.... Then dad brought a skyline as a family car... And l had to admit... It was a great car.. Years went buy and I had to have a skyline... I worked overtime saved and brought a 1990 r32gtr ...ill always remember the day I pulled into my dad's drive way. And I still own that car today. ❤
The GTR had a mostly stock and innocent looking body with minor bits of Ducts and a small spoiler, while really, it was a complete powerhouse internally. Meaning the GTR is an example of a Sleeper car.
I must disagree with that statement the car doesn't look sporty next ot its competition but we all know the car was built to be fast and it was obvious far from a sleeper
I dunno about that... back in 1995 I remember walking by one in a parking lot in Japan and it immediately drew my eye to it and made me drool on it even though I didn't know what I was looking at. I figured out really quick after asking some friends about it though. You have to remember that even into the mid-90's most cars on the road were fairly boxy. A Skyline with a GTR drivetrain would've fit as a sleeper, but the GTR looked quite a bit different than a regular Skyline.
1 minute in and I am completely hooked! I do not comment on videos ever, but this particular one is special. Narration is amazing where you feel connected to the story. as both a car lover and a G fan (Godzilla), how can you not love the nickname they gave the GT-R. An all conquering monster of immense power, unrivalled, undefeated, unmatched. Such a shame that they stopped allowing them to compete here in Australia - the protective union mindset of trying to protect the local manufacturing industries was counter productive. Instead of getting innovative to regain that competitive edge, they got complacent and lazy.
I agree, few cars sound half as vicious at full tilt, when you expect a redline Godzilla offers more until you expect the gates of hell to open then the shift comes and you get to do it all again, what a work of art.
I wouldn't say undefeated and unmatched..... In short circuits the e30 M3 and 190e bested the GTR ,and in longer tracks the 993 was better.... The GTR didn't have much success in Europe besides Spa. Europe was way more competitive then Australia..... For example AC schintzer won 4/5 at willington 500, that race included the Australian teams along with nismo. The GTR lost to e30 m3 a good handful of times in willington 500 and Macau......
@@MiguelGarcia-vj7oo Thats a good point, It makes the car better that it didnt outmatch everything in every aspect and you know the electrics controlling the awd in that era were shit so it makes sense they would lose time in more complex track sections and corners, it was a best in a straight line and wider corners, which Spa is basically all brakes and wider corners, the weight didnt help it either. Is a fair assessment but only adds to the legend for me in an era where it was exclusively legendary cars racing.
The way you bring your presentation and deliver your stories is truly epic. It’s why I loved Donut Media, Up to Speed before they lost their way for subscribers and an algorithm. You’re doing an amazing job. It’s a purists dream to watch! I wish you success in the future.
Not to mention the awd was electrically controlled that gave power ratio front/back 50-50 to 0-100 as deemed necessary and also 4wheel steering. Also the turbos were fitted with ceramic turbines that reacted better than steel (also broke more easily....)
It’s insane to me that you just do this in your free time, the production value is off the charts! I personally also like your style of presentation, keep it up man!
I think, what I admire the most in your videos, is the pure simplicity with which you deliver the story, whilst still sounding professional. No pompousness, no meaningless comparisons, no nonsense. You really hit the right formula… Keep up the good work!
Wow thanks, I really aim to convey the significance of these cars to the audience. The things it took to make them, what inspired the engineers, who had the vision to make them come alive, etc. Glad it seems to be working!
Oh man, I got to say that SQUIDD didn't just elevate the bar for video essay documentaries about cars, SQUIDD shattered it. It's not just the great editing, or the superb reading and good voice. It's the text and how everything comes together with that. You speak about the cars and the stories in the same way as those brilliant engineers built their cars, with so much love and passion and when the telling is worthy of the story, it resonates. I'm not the first one to point out how good these videos are, but damn. Even the carefully considered cussing to really put the emphasis when needed. I don't think person needs to be into cars to absorbed by the stories you've told and what comes through to everyone is absolute appreciation for the story, events and cars.
You're not the first to say it, but it feels just as heart warming to hear it as the first time. Thank you my friend, I'm glad people enjoy listening to the stories, and happy some appreciate my deliberate use of colorful language ^_^
Long before the skyline ever came out the Buick turbocharged V6 was banned from racing because it made more power than any NASCAR any car from that era in general within the required cubic inch size. And it's faster than any skyline. The Chevy S10 cyclone from 1992 all-wheel drive turbocharged 4.3 was faster than the skyline s*** it was the fastest production car in the world it was faster than the Lamborghini that came out that same year. I don't understand all this hype about these JDM cars they're not really that powerful and they're not really that hot we have tons of cars built in the United States but nobody seems to talk about him and they have these stupid wait lines to get an imported when you go on Craigslist and buying American car built in the 90s that was faster than the m*********** anyways can cost a quarter of the price. I suggest you look up the cyclone and the typhoon and prepare to have your mind blown.
@@tomh9391 well the thing is, did the chevy or buick win every race? did it dominate the competition? did it leave an impression?, the thing that makes that skyline so iconic is that unlike the "Chevy S10 cyclone" or the "Buick turbocharged V6" it did all of that.
@@tomh9391 maybe you forget that nascar simply isn't all that international compared to touring car races, not to mention Nascar's vehicles haven't been actual brand cars for quite some time now. Granted, the Buick GNX was a goddamn brute, but like most american cars...the moment it was a track and not a straight line or an oval, it was game over. It's the sheer combination of optimal handling and good power that makes european and jdm cars all the more impressive. The US did have quite a few cars good on tracks, but not in the same way as japan, europe or even Australia (I mean come on, the Holden Torana was a beast)
IDK why. By the end I was crying. The GTR means so much to me, I just couldn't help shedding a tear at the end. @@FurBurger151 I feel you. I ordered a Athens Blue G35 with many special upgrades from Japan in 2007. It is still mint with 30K miles. It is a "Baby GTR" . 6 speed RWD, track switch, tire melter. It can go 0-60 in 5 seconds and hits 185 mph tops. On the track it passes 911s . This car was so under rated.
Absolutely brilliant automotive culture from Japan over the decades! From Kawasaki's Z1 900 in the 70s, Mazda rx7 in the 80s, GTR'S and Silvia's in the 90s, the 350z in the 2000's plus countless other favorites over the years, man! I do love that JDM car scene!
The r32 is the car that got me into cars. I was a 90s kid that only had access to my dads old car mags until the early 2000s. Every. Single. One. Of. Them. Had the r32 in them for one reason or another and I fell in love with its goofy style of sedan-esque/performance car styling and those 4 round brake lights. The constant wins of the skyline line didn’t hurt either. This documentary only servers to further enhance my love for the car and it’s weird case of being both under and over rated.
A 8.22 on the nurburgring in a stock 1990 nissan gtr is absolutely wild to think about.. thats insane.. no wonder those cars were so dominant for so long they were way ahead of their time
Absolutely spot on. The best automotive doco format I have seen. I started in the car trade 1979. In Australia V8s ruled until mid 80s and then Nissan unleashed its turbo 4cyl blue birds ?. This video was so great on detailing the technical history and matching social responses worldwide. I was at Bathurst when Godzilla one. Rainy day big crashes really close racing, and the GTR blasted all that challenged. I worked at Holden GMH. The Nismo teams opened the eyes of many, professionals involved with advances that were developed at the same time as they raced. Electronic data that other companies dreamed about referencing, the GTR had destroyed all that year in group A. The footage of the races in this doco was well edited and covered GODZILLA and the achievements with out bias. Well done.
Fred Gibson motorsport played a big role in developing the GTR Godzilla, 4 wheel drive 4 wheel steer. They failed in initial year 1990 dominated in 1991 & had all the dramas of the declared 1992 bathurst 1000's. They were the best car on the track in 92, there is no doubt of it but whether they really belonged to be there is highly questionable
Truly an in-depth look into why the GT-R was and is legendary. I remember driving one in Japan. It was everything people said it is. It's unfortunate that we never got it here in the USA but soon enough for right price tag many will have them. I hope to see them at car shows soon.
I'm 84 as well. I remeber playing grant turismo as a kid. exploring the car world, then I just tried the Skyline. it felt like a cheat. so fast. so stable. insane traction, drove like a front wheel drive, fast as rear wheel one.
Yeah, the HKS Skyline on the speed test ring was the money cheat code for sure. Gran Turismo is why I got into cars at all. I had zero interest before I played.

I never knew that little tid bit about Nissan acquiring a 959 and reverse engineering it. I've been a JDM loyalist and race fan since the early 90's and had never heard that. Makes total sense. The 959 was next level dominance in nearly every way. I can still remember the grade school book fair poster of the red 959 cabriolet that hung next to a posterized shrine to Michael Jordan on the walls of my childhood room
The bigger the manufacturer, the more likely they buy a few competitors' cars to scrutinize them. They call it "benchmarking". Little did anyone know in the '80s, that by 2008 Porsche would buy a Nissan GT-R to try it for themselves at the Nurburgring.

Wow it was awesome. That period of Touring car racing was dominated in Oz by the R32. In wet weather the V8's where no where to be seen. What an Icon of a car. The Ozzy delivered cars particularly are worth a fortune now.
Solid goosebumps watching this episode mate!! Love the channel! Fun fact: Stock v's stock, the Mitsubishi 3000GT/GTO was quicker to 100kph than the R32 GT-R lol Being Australian and growing up during the time of the GT-R's completely dominating here in our group-A racing... there was quite a bit of "interesting modifications" done to the GT-R's. MANY Nismo parts being delivered in plain Nissan boxes if you get what I mean. That was comfirmed many years later when talking over a beer (or twelve) with a team owner and several engineers..They also back in the early 90's added severe weight penalties due to them out performing all the other cars. Epic episode!

Just to correct a couple of things, the DR30 RS was raced with quite a bit of success in Australia and Japan. The HR31 (not DR31) GTS-R was also quite a successful racer taking the Australian Touring Car Championship in 1990 for Jim Richards. It was also raced in Europe with Win Percy and Allan Grice at the wheel and had a lot of homologation parts that made it not so good on the road but a real weapon on the track. Only 800 or so R31 GTS-Rs were built so they are very rare these days. The R32 chassis and Attessa 4WD system was developed under R31 bodies so that the competition did not know what Nissan was up to (Oh lord how I wish I had one of those testing bucks now!)
Good video. It's a minor point but there was no "DR31". The "D" referred to the 4 cylinder FJ20 engine. The successor to the DR30 was the HR31 GTS-R with the 6 cylinder RB20DET-R - one of the best sounding engines of all time. You are right that this car is underrated. It in fact won the 1990 Australian Touring Car Championship, not the R32 GT-R. This car also debutted the HICAS four wheel steer system, though this was generally deleted for racing. The GTS-R beat the Ford Sierra on tight circuits and really only lacked horsepower. It's lighter and handles better than the GT-R but again you're right that the AWD system was what set that car apart.
Boxy, huh? First time I laid eyes on this car in my local car magazine I was in love. I always feel a jolt when I see one in movies or documentaries. Its proportions as a two door coupe are just right and the double tail lights tell you it's "The One". Great work m8!

The r34 was my favorite car of all time..... after watching this.... the R32 just filled that void in my heart. Thank YOU sir for an educational lesson in Our history. From Texas 👍
Brilliant video! Just want to correct some small errors. At 6:20 you said DR31, however the car you are showing and taking about is the facelifted DR30, also called the tekkamen (iron mask), which came with the fj20 motor. Also it was only the Australian R32's built by the Gibson team that produced 620hp (and 700hp for qualifying). The Japanese Nismo built r32s made about 550hp but were around 100kg lighter. Again, awesome video, brilliant editing and some of the best writing I've ever heard on TH-cam.
Hey thanks for the feedback! I really struggled with the footage in 85/86 so appreciate your eagle eyes correcting me. Glad you enjoyed the content despite it!
I read that after the Gibson team had finished building the race cars, there were very few actual Nissan parts on the car. I also read that some of these mods made their way back to Nismo .
this is really good, the editing and music is subtle that it didn't overshadow the story but enhance it, combined with your tone it make me feels like "its all according to my plan moment" even though its someone else's success
Absolutely LOVED this video! I remember watching the GTR thoroughly dominate the competition at Bathurst, and falling in love with it. That dominance spawned a love affair, and a cult following here in Australia that is probably stronger now than ever, so much so that most of us can't afford one. What we can afford however is the GTR's forgotten baby brother, the GTS-4. With basically the same attessa system, hiding behind an RB20 instead of the legendary RB26, it's ripe for those of us who can forgive it's lesser nameplate for the opportunity to create something a little different, but much more affordable.
I am infinitely thankful that someone putted time and effort into making these documentaries. Thanks to these i will never forgot how blessed i am for being born in the '80. And my children will know about this mechanical marvels..

did you know that the R32 is 4545 milimeters long and 1755 milimeters wide and weighs in at 1430 kg, it has a 2600 cubic centimeter inline 6 engine with 2 overhead camshafts and 4 valves per cylinder. It is fitted with 2 turbochargers which allow it's RB26DETT to put out 314 bhp at 6800 rpm in it's factory modification, It makes use of the ATTESA-ETS (acronym for Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All-Terrain) It is a four-wheel drive system used in some automobiles produced by the Japanese automaker Nissan, including some models under its luxury brand Infiniti, it is this exact system that made it unbeatable in the Australian touring car championships from 1989 to 1994, when they stopped producing the R32 generation of the Skyline GTR, It uses 17 inch BBS wheels on the 1994 V-SPEC models, the body has a 60:40 weight distribution making it understeer heavily.
Remember growing up as I got into cars, this was the mysterious Nissan fire breather that you couldn't buy in America...the Skyline. When they finally came out with the GTR that most are familiar with today, as advanced of a performer as it was, it just didn't hold the same understated 'mystique' as this Skyline.
The words R32 GTR and RB26 still give me the goose bumps. Its a car that goes to show that you can achieve anything against all odds if you put your heart and soul to it.
So much care and thought was put to this video. It made me fall in love with the gtr again and reassured my love for jdm performance cars. Great video man, absolutely wonderful.
Aussie rules killed the return of the R32 GTR and at the same time, the USA killed the return of Audi due to the exact same AWD/Turbo advantages. FORD and GM didn't enjoy getting their asses handed to them on either Continent by a Japanese manufacturer, even after penalizing with boost limits, added weight and tire widths. *The GTR GroupA story in Australia nearly exactly mirrors the Audio IMSA story in the USA from 1989 to 1991/2.*

Fun fact: every generation of the GT-R, starting from the R32 have set a lap record at the Nürbugring. No wonder why Porsche were so salty and accused Nissan of cheating.
Weren't they sort of right tho? I thought that was part of the reason official rules were created only a few years later.
Lies again? Grab Tushy USD SGD

@@TheOystei san
Absolutely true.
Its a reasonable thing Pro Drivers asked for.
yes we use to disable the hicas and atessa system on the skylines. the car handling under stress was more predicable when those systems were disabled
I removed Hicas on my GTS-X due to it being overzealous, if you're smooth with steering input though it's amazing through the hills
As an Aussie watching this, you nailed the Godzilla era and the impact it had to motorsport in this country.
The R31 and R32 GTRs were the aspiration of many a young petrol head (they still are!)
Glad I could do you guys right!

The GTR had a mostly stock and innocent looking body with minor bits of Ducts and a small spoiler, while really, it was a complete powerhouse internally. Meaning the GTR is an example of a Sleeper car.
not at all. It was a sleeper for ONE race. After that literally everyone knew it was the opposite of a sleeper.
@@dangerdonk6670 "Well actually"
@@dangerdonk6670 That is how it is meant...
I must disagree with that statement
the car doesn't look sporty next ot its competition but we all know the car was built to be fast and it was obvious
far from a sleeper
I dunno about that... back in 1995 I remember walking by one in a parking lot in Japan and it immediately drew my eye to it and made me drool on it even though I didn't know what I was looking at. I figured out really quick after asking some friends about it though.
You have to remember that even into the mid-90's most cars on the road were fairly boxy. A Skyline with a GTR drivetrain would've fit as a sleeper, but the GTR looked quite a bit different than a regular Skyline.
Not only is the Nissan Godzilla a monster… but the construction of the story, and the story teller…. Very very well done.
In 1991 I lived in Japan for a study abroad program. The father of the family I stayed with had a GTR. What an awesome car it was.

as both a car lover and a G fan (Godzilla), how can you not love the nickname they gave the GT-R.
I agree, few cars sound half as vicious at full tilt, when you expect a redline Godzilla offers more until you expect the gates of hell to open then the shift comes and you get to do it all again, what a work of art.
i am the same
I wouldn't say undefeated and unmatched.....
@@MiguelGarcia-vj7oo NEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRD
@@MiguelGarcia-vj7oo Thats a good point, It makes the car better that it didnt outmatch everything in every aspect and you know the electrics controlling the awd in that era were shit so it makes sense they would lose time in more complex track sections and corners, it was a best in a straight line and wider corners, which Spa is basically all brakes and wider corners, the weight didnt help it either. Car was definitely ahead of its time. 4 seats, turbo charged 6 cylinder and awd
Not to mention the awd was electrically controlled that gave power ratio front/back 50-50 to 0-100 as deemed necessary and also 4wheel steering. Also the turbos were fitted with ceramic turbines that reacted better than steel (also broke more easily....)
And boy that Attesa-system is fast in reacting to the need of traction it's insane (and fun)

Oh man, I got to say that SQUIDD didn't just elevate the bar for video essay documentaries about cars, SQUIDD shattered it. It's not just the great editing, or the superb reading and good voice. It's the text and how everything comes together with that. I'm not the first one to point out how good these videos are, but damn. Even the carefully considered cussing to really put the emphasis when needed. The R32 was stopped from competing cuz they win a lot
That's how dominant the R32 was
Long before the skyline ever came out the Buick turbocharged V6 was banned from racing because it made more power than any NASCAR any car from that era in general within the required cubic inch size.

Fred Gibson motorsport played a big role in developing the GTR Godzilla, 4 wheel drive 4 wheel steer. They failed in initial year 1990 dominated in 1991 & had all the dramas of the declared 1992 bathurst 1000's.
Thanks friend!
wow, this guy deserves millions of subs! honestly this felt like it was a full company production
Hey squidd, love the quality of this channel and am astonished by number of subs you have. This level of quality and storytelling is Hollywood worthy, only that they don't put such effort as you do, and let's be honest, they don't even have this kind of quality.
That being said, are you done with Ideal or will you still be present in some vids?
Keep up the good work man!
Yea I live on yt daily and idk why u have a not much subs you deserve more mate
Thanks friends. It’s not about deserving. We all gotta work for it and I’ve only just begun. Thanks for checking me out at such an early stage and I hope to maintain that fire for a long time to come!
@@the.squiddThis looks like a vid they would show on a documentary channel. Keep up the good work dude. Don't worry about subs, at this rate you will be above 50k subs within a month or two. 👍🏻👍🏻
@@the.squidd i thought some just uploaded a video from someone else channel after looking at subs and video uploads but i guess it's your work, it amazing
Although they were money pits, and I'd have the engine in pieces at least once a month, best car I ever owned. Goddamn I miss my Skyline.
the cool thing about Nissan is that they perculated the attessa driveline into all sorts of their vehicles, you could get a humble Bluebird sedan or Pulsar hatchback or even an Aviner station wagon with 4wd and 4 wheel steering....the possibilities!
The r34 was my favorite car of all time..... after watching this.... the R32 just filled that void in my heart. Thank YOU sir for an educational lesson in Our history.
From Texas 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
TH-cam algorithm did it again, popping up well made video. Fantastic Squidd! Great job putting the vintage footage together. Subscribed
Glad you enjoyed it
Wow this is soooooo good. This has suddenly become my favorite car documentary channel.
Wow, thanks!
A friend I used to have had a R32 GTR. Godzilla is definitely the naming I would give it. It was an amazing car from roof to tire.
Okay. I know lots of peoples will not care, but those 90's paddock girls at 4:07 are absolutely magnificent.
Stay thirsty my friend! 😂
this is really good, the editing and music is subtle that it didn't overshadow the story but enhance it, combined with your tone it make me feels like "its all according to my plan moment" even though its someone else's success
Thanks friend!
that speech at the beginning all the way up to "it didnt fucking lose" was the most hype shit ive ever heard
The R32 best looking GTR to this day in my opinion. Perfect size, proportions and lines. 👌
It just has this aura, like it looks somewhat ordinary, but it oozes power and elegance.
I've already watched several times since this video was uploaded already but I just couldn't get enough of it. GT-R boi I am yes
I appreciate you
R32 in my opinion is the sexiest car ever made, and nothing can change my mind
What mind? The thing’s hideous, mighty but by no means handsome.
@@alstound Ur opinion man, but mine still stands
As an owner of an '89 240sx, this car and video is really hype. It's just such a classic in every sense. Technologically, it had everything, and it's style was really timeless. I remember playing Forza on Xbox, and using a Porsche for nurburgring, and then trying the r32 and be absolutely blown away at the difference. It really was just such an incredible performing vehicle, I was hooked.
As a past owner of like 6 S13s I hope to one day make a video that makes you proud!
@@the.squidd I really enjoyed this video. 240s are cool, but the skyline is the real deal for sure.
Maybe my word choice made it seem like I was saying it was a bad thing. That's not what I meant at all. The skyline is basically my favorite car ever.
@@grantmccoy6739 No I got you, I read correctly. I just mean I wanna make a similar video about the 240sx and S chassis that you really like! Have a great day friend!
@@the.squidd awesome!
HELL YEAH. Love the new audio. Also, god damn, I'd never heard of the Mid4 before, but I feel like that would have been a game changer.
God it sounds SO much better doesn’t it?
Hello squidd i just want you to know that one of the reasons i love these videos outside of loving cars and your video layout and effort put into them.
its to shut down people who say i like japanese cars "because everyone else does" i love that you have legititmate reasons for these cars to be as godly as they were
This is like a love letter to GT-R and the production of this video is sublime with all that nostalgic 90's vibe!!
It's awesome~!!!
Hi Squidd, words cannot describe how special your videos are. I have been watching countless automotive videos for years on TH-cam, and for the first time ever, your two videos are the only ones that scratch that itch.
Your editing, narration, enthusiasm is just godly when combined together and no other channel comes close to you. You truly have raised the bar of this type of videos.
I'm going through a rough time right now, but i cannot escribe how much joy your content brings me and it is the only thing that gives peace to my mind when consuming.
We truly are grateful for the efforts and love you are putting.
That’s nice to hear Malcot.
I’m sorry you’re having a rough time. I know I can’t offer anything much to help but I’ve been through many many rough patches, and each of them became lessons later in life. In some way I’d never trade those hard times for anything as they help shape and develop me into the person I am today.
I hope the best for you and you definitely help motivate me to make more content! I hope I can continue to help shine some light in your life friend!
Holy shit that was actually such a good video, I love the way you tell these cars stories the way you edit the way you talk its so crazy. Its not over the top but its not understated by any means you feel like a real documentary and the stories you tell are just as good. I cant wait for the next one
did you know that the R32 is 4545 milimeters long and 1755 milimeters wide and weighs in at 1430 kg, it has a 2600 cubic centimeter inline 6 engine with 2 overhead camshafts and 4 valves per cylinder.
This is absolutely fantastic! Please PLEASE make more about other iconic JDM vehicles.
You've absolutely hit the mark with this mate.
More coming up soon!
The editing on this and the build up to the climax is spot on! Well done!
This is unbelievably well made, you are gonna blow up one day and i can't wait!
🤞🤞
So much care and thought was put to this video. It made me fall in love with the gtr again and reassured my love for jdm performance cars. Great video man, absolutely wonderful.
Glad you enjoyed it!

@@the.squidd can't wait for your channel to hit millions of subscribers ,keep posting such high quality content
I think we can all agree on this. But sadly, He does not post very often
@@KidCarTalks I’m trying!
@@the.squidd Thank you
I stumbled across this channel in my recommended list and it's awesome! Love these documentaries!
Glad you like them!
My god, 80s and 90s were the peak of motorsports.
Bigger displacement=more fuel=more power, there's no replacement for displacement, well, that's the rule of thumb.
But, quoting Ryosuke Takahashi, for every rule, there are exceptions for it
If you can't beat 'em, remove 'em 😁
Watched ur NSX video a week or so ago, subscribed on the spot. Didn't recognize your name in my home feed but clicked anyway cause i love hearing the GTR's success story. I tried to resubscribe because this video was excellent. Keep going your presentation is incredible, you really know how to tell a good story.
Glad you liked this one too!
