All rights to this production belong to Nat Geo. I respect their creative property, but this video isn't able to be viewed by the public in its purest form. The DVD was produced in limited numbers and isn't in production any longer. I upload this with respect to Nat Geo as I feel this should be able to be seen by the world, as it is truly a fantastic documentary. (Incorrect exhaust note aside.)
I am NOT monetizing this video, any ads seen following or prior to this video are placed by "TH-cam" and I have no control over this.
I upload this for all GT-R fans to enjoy in its purest form. I up sampled to 1080p and corrected visuals and removed distracting foreign subtitles. Any tearing or visual effects are all original to the production. I went to great lengths to track down this documentary (2 Years) and make the corresponding updates to share to the world.
NAT GEO PLEASE DON'T STRIKE MY ACCOUNT. I love this video and I want the world to see it. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
no wonder the GTR is so brilliant the factory alone is a marvel of human engineering big respect to Nissan and Japan
Love the GTR Huge Respect to everyone in Japan .
Great documentary. I got my gtr last weekend. It was my poster car back in 2009.
Enjoy it! It can be frustrating at times. Finicky car.
Congratulations on getting your dream car
Congrats to your GT-R! I bought my 2014 GT-R back in 2015! I think the car is awesome!
Congrats my friend.
Congrats, on that. I came across a good good deal on my dream car in 2015. It's a great feeling
As old as the R35 is at this point, it’s absolutely still an incredible machine and a true testament to Japanese know how and engineering. I’ve driven am R35 and to this day it remains the most amazing car I’ve ever had the pleasure of driving 👌🏼
Yes R35 is timeless
Ok buddy... whatever you say...
@@johnnyjohnathon7381what do you mean? My sentiments about the car itself or are you doubting that I drove one?
@@rogermoreno1152 which ever one offend you more.
@@johnnyjohnathon7381 neither offends me, it’s just confusing since you don’t wish to clarify 🤷🏻♂️
pretty insane that carlos was like a saint and a saviour back then, suddenly he became the most wanted person by the interpol, smuggling himself into music equipment and hides in his home country
Carlos was the escape goat by corrupt nissan officials.
I believe they framed him. I bet they can't stand the fact that a non Japanese saved Nissan.
I feel the same way.
What happened? I know Nissan is yet again on the verge of bankruptcy, but I didn't know there was/is some controversy/legal incident that caused this latest downturn.
@@moogle68 It's worth a Google. Seems like BS and he was used as a scapegoat for corrupts executives.
I wish I could afford one. I’m most struck by the number of times the Nissan employees used the word “customer.” They really bought into the focus: “make the best car for the customer” and not “make the best car.” That’s a significant difference. Others may make fast, but uncomfortable, cars that you can barely climb into. I respect what Nissan did here.
Bro get 2010 they go for 50- 60k that pretty affordable. Don’t fall for dealership mark ups.
I wouldn't. I would only buy a 2012 and newer. The DBA has updated transmission components, and believe me. It's worth the extra costs instead of replacing it later.
@@Mikey6048 never ever buy first generation of a new car model, even a 600~HP GTR
@@kamenriderozai8403 especially the GTR
The GTR is a phenomenal car. Even the older models when it was still Skyline. My favorite.
Wdym even the older models? The older models (specifically the R34) are way better than R35+
@jmathis2aug In what regards? Nostalgia? If based purely on performance. None of the GT-R of old touches the R35.
@@Mikey6048Go drive them all and you'll see why. The R35 is a driving appliance. It takes much of the skill out of the equation. Your mother could get in it and drive it fast! maybe that's the point....I've owned the R34 GTR and an R35 at the same time. I drove, and pushed them both all the time. The R34 was exciting, and fun, yet could be a calm daily driver. The R35 felt like a Maxima that was stupid fast. In other words, boring. If I were to own another, I'd get an R32. It has almost the same drive train as an R34, but it's significantly lighter and by far the most fun to drive. I guess this is kind of happening to most cars nowadays unfortunately..... One of the reasons older cars are going through the roof in value. The 35 is a great car, but "the best GTR" is debatable.
@@LordHolley I own one. In stock form sure. But when modified it's a completely different animal.
I don’t care what people say about the R35 being produced too long and “not keeping up” (even tho it still performs to par). It has and always will be my dream car. As incredibly tempting the 911 gt3 is now and others, they just will never replace the love I’ve always had for GTR
I hope they keep producing them so badly cos I still can't afford one.
As a kid in the USA who grew up playing video games playing with Nissan gtr”s his whole childhood this makes me want one even more .
I'm a Corvette guy, but I wouldn't mind having a GTR in my Garage. I agree, after all these years, it's still a work of art.
Ah I remember watching this back when it aired on NatGeo, great times.
An absolute ethereal experience. I never broke gaze from watching. Elite craftsmanship, education, and fun wrapped in an amazing lecture. Kudos to Nissan.
Every successful car company should do this at least once per generation: take a handful of your best, most passionate people and set them to designing the very best car they possibly can, with no worry over cost. Even if they can't sell the finished product at a profit, all the parts and systems that get improved in the process will more than make up it over time.
The best documentary I watch about GT-R
I absolutely love this documentary.
Love this car! Had it for almost 13 years, winning almost every races along the way.
I own 2008 GTR R35 bought 2019 already has 52k km, stock engine, and no fault, still going until today, fast, comfort, without worry faulty! perfect!
Thanks bro this is history for the GTR lovers much respect for letting us see this
Please keep making this beauty for eternity!
The overall styling is so cool and, well, timeless. In 20 years from now I believe it will still look awesome. If I had the bucks this car would top my list. Nothing against the competition (they reference Porsche more than once in this video) however you don't see as many GTR's on the road in comparison - not even close - and it's the exclusivity that I value with all the other good stuff this machine has to offer.
Exactly why I love it
What an incredible production and engineering craftsmanship! So proud to own one of these GT-R masterpieces!
I can’t get over the constant LFA exhaust sounds overlaying the gtr 😂😂
Agreed. It's basically the only issue.
Exactly what I just heard at 1:40 , I was like wait a minute.
Great Documentary Japanese Automobiles hold a special place in my heart the Japanese are fantastic master builders and engineers. and the design language is always cutting edge.
It amazes me that comparatively few people seek out made in Japan vehicles. Their quality is on another level even compared to the same company's vehicles made elsewhere. Nissan is probably the most stark example of this.
I love the use of Top Gear footage when Jeremy raced public trans across Japan in a red GTR. Absolute phenomenal car.
Well put together video
Great video!!
Love GT-R, its 4WD drive train and suspensions are very capable on the road.
I have a 2015 Nissan NP300 4x4 Pick up and a 2008 Elgrand 4x4 with the VQ25 Engine. And i like it.
Nissan has always been slept on
Love this. Incredible engineering.
Wow this is Nissan at another level. GTR.
Everyone in the factory that even just for a moment touches a gtr seems so proud to be there and thats cool to see. ❤ I sat in the drivers seat of first 2009 m/y GTR off the line myse!f and can agree it was an honor to even be allowed near the machine.
Watching this after the Carlos Ghosn debacle is hitting different too.
Wow..the Mighty GT-R!
One of my favourite cars 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Episode aired Nov 2012 stating Nissan was on its knees 13 years earlier with outdated cars, so they brought Carlos Ghosn in to fix it.
11 years later, he's in a box on a plane somewhere on the wanted list, Nissan still makes the GTR 15 years later and....they're in trouble yet again.
R35 is the best peformance, production supercar, it's literally what they wanted to be, a supercar for everyone.
Phenomal!!!
Very cool documentary on an amazing car.
wow bro, I really respect the fact that you don't want to step on any toes but also feel the need to share. And at the same time i share your passion in wanting this awesome episode to be seen far and wide. respect for all the work you put into it. big ups to you bro
I appreciate it. It's not my intellectual property. But I did spend a long time finding this, and fixing it.
As a matter of fact. I found it in Australia. And it was encoded so I couldn't watch it in my region so I had to do some work around to get it to play on a US computer DVD ROM.
Im sure the encoding must of taken a few hours on its own. I know i wouldn't of been able to see it otherwise. I know i'm only one person but i thank you for your time and effort@@Mikey6048
Love Nissan square stile since 88.
Thank you for an amazing video.
Crazy to think almost every generation of car enthusiasts has their own GTR.. it really is a hall of fame without a doubt
The best car in the world 🙏🏻👏👏👏👏
Well done! 🤙🏽🥃
Carlos solid man like rock god bless him
One of example of Japanese technology its so Impressive 👍 😍
The fact that car companies are still measuring trunk space by how many golf club sets can fit, is freaking hilarious.
i go by the bodies
Best car in the world🫶🏽
Pretty amazing when you consider that this cast aluminum block is now being built in 2500-3000hp levels while domestic vehicle's require an aftermarket block. The rest of the drivetrain is the same. Maybe a 300m gear here or there but, just bulletproof.
a 45 minute advertisement for Nissan!! Brilliant marketing!!
Marvelous
Insane acceleration!
Realy I like this factory so so much
i can't believe they saw Godzilla and recorded him for 45 minutes without getting burnt alive or stomped on
21:15 It was 4 engineers in 2009, now its 13. How times have changed.
Wow they made a race version of their race car! Must be epic
Kazuo Shishikura I envy you sir what a legend 👌👏👏
I just found and bought a 09 GT-R. - It was "loved" to near death. - I shall rebuild it. -LOVE it - and breath new life into it!
The GTR is hardly a gamble for Nissan, they've been making it for years. I test-drove one, and loved the experience but decided the depreciation was going to be more frightening than even the performance. I went with the Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series, a superlative car that lost very little over my three years.
37:25 The man behind R35 GT-R HUD instrument.
absolute brilliance...its my dream car for being affordable😂
I like it😁
IMO..the car of the century...
Best than most American Cars!!!!
This thing outlived Ferrari 458 Italia and Lamborghini Aventador.
It came out at the time of the F430 and still lives on, while Ferrari killed the F430, 458, 488, F8 and is now on the 296.
The GT-R is the best car ever
It has been my dream car since I saw my very first one in a car convention!!
I bought one of my brother over 1100hp
Awesome piece of machine
I love telling people I have a DATSUN 😂🤣❤️
Only car after that I loved driving was my sisters RS6 Audi about 700hp, wasn’t fast as my Datsun but at 180mph I impressed how planted it was,
And the last but not least the 7 seater SQ7 Audis 4.2 V8tdi what a car 💯
34:52 Worker has to crouch under the car, but if he complains, gets replaced by a robot.
These legends made A CAR!
👍🏽💯💯🫡👌🏽😎
The all steel lord is ever my protector ☝️✍️ one of the greatest gtr engineers respect 🙏 fan fr 🇮🇳
I had a 1997 Nissan 200sx, what a great car that was. Have not bought a nissan since. After that i bought only Honda, however Nissan could've been a great auto company
I got my 2014 almost 2 years
It puts a smile on my face
Every time .
Also it’s now a varis gtr
Love it !
Super jealous! Same year as mine. It'll be 3 years for me in January.
I want the Kamikaze-R kit so badly. I just dropped 16k$ for a ShepTrans build because I blew 5th gear apart a few months ago.... 👀🤦♂️.
I might post a short about it and show 5th and the input shafts.
@@Mikey6048 upgraded transmission nice!
That’s what I want next but I will have to wait since that body kit ran about 20k
Wore you racing a lot ?
Or doing launches ?
Nope, just driving to work. Semi pulled in front of me. Dropped to 5th. Gave it her all to get away and 5th Gear let out.
Look into Chinese body kits , you can prob find the same with really good finish for a fragment of that price.
@@fouadS31 I have but I'm sadly a purest.... 😔. I have to have legit parts even though it's probably the same quality.
I think Nissan is a company that really caters to people like us who love cars. Toyota and Honda also make great cars, I'll give them that. But the cars that Nissan makes, I can't really put my finger on it, but they really stir the emotions of us car enthusiasts. The GT-R is the symbol of this, and I am sure that the GT-R name will never die out even when EV cars become commonplace.

@@BariumCobaltNitrog3n AKIRA car?! lol
@@neetchang If you say so.
As Jeremy Clarkson said in his review, "they haven't build a new car, they've built a new yardstick."
at 1:40 that sound in background is a sound of lexus LFA come on guys xD
1:40 this is definitely not the sound of a GTR 😂
Correct. It's the Lexus LFA. I mentioned that in the description. 😂
@@Mikey6048 ahaa cool cool 👍
what are u on about . that is the sound of the gtr . u havent been in the automotive world long enough havent you ?
@@DRsx4 Actually it's not. That is the LFA. National Geographic has stated they had the wrong exhaust clips a couple times in this documentary, back in the day.
@@Mikey6048 My ears must be tripping. I thought they used sound from Ferraris with modified exhaust or an F1 car for some reason since that's what I guessed the average casual viewer would be used to. [Generic race car sound to give the fast feel] Crazy to think they used a nearly-rival Japanese supercar sound
Thank you for another incredible watch
I used to work a Nissan plant and I remember when they started back making these cars. They brought one to our plant for us to see before heading to a car show in ATL. Someone put diesel in it instead of gas. Luckily they realized that before they crunk it up. I was wondering why they were pushing it in the plant lol.
Not to be somehow, just the documentaries alone will grow your channel to great lengths. I watched the entire GTR doci next up lfa
Best friend…. Definitely.
This is the real super car👍👍👍
The part everyone missed is Renault's interest in not only Nissan and throwing their man Carlos into the fray when the opportunity arose, but also the ties to Mitsubishi's Weapons Systems in the Defense side that the French were coveting as well. Denying the charges against Carlos doesn't equate to proof of innocence either, and desperately getting smuggled out didn't help in his cause. His smugglers from the US are in deep doo doo by the way.
Why is everyone mentioning this? What happened?? What'd I miss??
That's crazy theory, don't you think Japan government would stop mitsu and others first? Stop the bs, it's purely because nissan and mitsu were almost bankrupt
@lucky889s9 that's why Carlos is getting evicted from his 30 million mansion in Beirut that Nissan has provided for him? That contract expired 4 yeats ago when he was arrested and fired. But get this, he's been 'squatting' on that mansion for the past several years even though Nissan no longer pays his rent, and he hasn't been paying either, now his own government is kicking him out. I guess you may understand the real story real soon when your hero is homeless.
@@rikidozan93 several years? Carlos was just arrested and fired from Nissan in late 2018. You missing the point here. Nissan accused him of embezzlement of company assets and purchases. But all the property is under Nissan name. If anything, Nissan can sell with profit if the value has increased. If it's about taxes, it's between the government and him, not Nissan. So what charges are Nissan accusing him for, really?? Because he is a high profile and successful gaijin?? For turning nissan around?
@@lucky889s9 Mitsu going 'Bankrupt' is a funny joke. Do you even know how big of a company Mitsubishi Group is? 😅
