Bro ! My predator 212 with stock cam , stock flywheel , ported head that I did , arc billet rod , 26 lb springs , champion rockers pz27 carb that I tuned went 61 mph ! Wait till I install a billet flywheel and mess with the timing . Making a video soon .
Thx! Again a super exciting video. How about doing a video with only head mods - changing valve angles, transitions, CR, maybe measure air velocity in the intake? Together with EC carbs maybe? Love the Sound of this machine 😊
Been looking at small blocks for some you just make so much power and is really good to watch your videos thanks for explaining all about points to look out for know looking for a engine to work on thanks again for all your good work great guy 😊
Calm, informative and honest! I have no interest in engines but will still subscribe as you are doing a great job with your channel! And mabye my interest awakens ;D. Keep up what you are doing! Greetings from Sweden!
May want to address the bolt that holds the rocker retainer in place. Common problem on that Ducar head. The Tillotson setup is a better setup and an easy solution.
Yes, never clearance any part of the block inside with the rod, crank, etc. Installed. Always remove everything and then grind. Just reiterating your having to reinstall the piston the same way as before. CLEANLINESS IS NEXT TO GODLINESS when building.
I had a dodge neon i slapped a bigger cam, springs, ported and smoothed any rough spots on the intake and shined up the exhaust side, plus a light going over on the combustion chamber. That little thing would scream.
The only way that would effect the numbers would be if it was skipping a tooth. The bottom side of the chain is the pull side. That's why the chain is like that on the top run.
this will be interesting, the only real difference between this build and my own engine is the stroker kit, otherwise I have the same CM grind cam, same size carb, a well ported head with 26lb springs, and 0.021" between the flat top piston and head to get the compression as high as I could without machining the head (risky but worth it) and the PVL flywheel with 28 degrees timing. I would like to know what the lift is on the ghost cam though, just for stored knowledge that may never be usefully utilised.
At the beginning of the test ride you say that the cam and carb are changed and the head is ported while the rest is basically stock. Huh? Only stock stuff left, not including ancillary parts, are the block, lifters, and push rods.
Yeah I’ve seen him do this a couple of times in his videos. Not sure if it’s on purpose. Also he’ll have big plans for something and then just never do it. I’m still waiting on a 459 max build
Bore and Stroke were left 'Stock' size. The crank was just pre-ground in areas that catch. The rod was same length as 'stock' just a different dipper and cleared for crank bearings. Those are 'the rest'.
NR Racing sells some 1.2 roller rockers that will work on that head. They call them Ducar 212 rockers but that’s a Ducar block and head. I wonder if they would cause valve to piston interference with the flat top piston? If not, I wonder if they’d give any power increase? I have a set in a Tilly 212 but it’s running a stock dished piston with the valve relief.
I had a cushman eagle 9 hp & this engine u did is what looks to me the same as the exceleratuon maybe quicker than the cushman wirh a 50% size of ur bike .
In this video it looks like you have a hose for quick oil drain can you explain how that was made and if it is just for oil drain after doing a dump or if this configuration can be used in a day to day build to make oil changes easier, faster, and cleaner?
I'd be intrigued to see a stock 212 with a stroker kit and properly tuned carb vs a max performance 224 since the 224 is basically a stroked 212 would be neat to see how ecs kit compares to a store bought in terms of performance.
Great gains but still waiting for you guys to dyno a engine with a loop in the exhaust pipe like the old briggs racing exhaust pipes to see it ot helps or hurts with built engines.
How would you compare this build to the Wildcat 223 you built? In particular, wondering how the Wildcat Vs Predator hemi head compares especially when porting.
The Wildcat made a little more power than the Ghost. You are starting with a stronger block with the wildcat and it comes with the crank and flat top piston stock. I think Wildcat all the way.
8:40 Do those pistons come with the rings already gapped properly? I have EC Carburetor’s flat top piston and their forged rod for my 224, but I haven’t begun to start that project yet.
Brotha you need to get some cold medicine and some sleep. I can hear how stuffed up you are. We enjoy the content thank you for the awesome build info.
@@RedBeardsGarage Good to hear yeah you found like your on the beginning or tail end of being sick. Normally I would have said anything but my wife watches with me and her mother hen kicked in and was driving me nuts. Lol glad to hear your getting better.
Hey red beard I am running a ghost with hot 265 cam, 26lb springs, .010 head gasket, 24mm nibbi, billet rod and 10k rpm flywheel with #8 degree advanced timing key, would I be able to use a flattop piston with the stock head and valves or would it hit each other?
Hey Red, what does the compression end up with the stroker kit? Love all the horsepower videos but for me pump gas is very important. I like to ride more than pay to having ravenous gas mailed to me. Lol
New to all of this, my kids are 10 & 11 and have a China buggy my question is being a novice for the cost of upgrade would the B&S animal be comparable? P.S. I’m becoming a big fan of Red Beard garage enjoy watching but don’t the facility to take on such projects so Thank you for your time your channel is the bomb.
Those are some big gains. What does it cost sir. And is there better options. As in tillitson or any others. Seriously. What is the actual cost for this ghost.
im verry curious, what whould be the best block to reach maximum performance? if i wanted to buy only the parts and build the fully moded engine instead of buying the engine and swapping out parts, where should I get them and wich ones should i get?
i need help..... installed a stage 2 kit on a pred 224 from nr racing, and now it will only run on starting fluid. been trouble shooting it on and off for 2 weeks cant figure it out. checked valve lash, coil gap, cam timing, made sure valves are closing completely, carb is getting gas
Hi, I am from the U.K I have just purchased a twin Honda gx160 I have been looking at a stage 4 kit.. because its a twin engine its getting a little costly. Any way you could do a comparison with a gx160 ( rpm ) engine and your predator engine. I have a chance if buying 2x ( rpm ) engines but dont know whether ti get them or just buy stage 4 kit for my gx160's. Thanks
@@RedBeardsGarage thanks for the reply I appreciate it. The predator 212 uses the same parts as gx160. Im just going to get a stage 4 kit for. Both engines

hey mate i got a question about valve seals im building a motor ATM currently waiting on parts and i see that u don't use valve seals are they not needed with these engines i purchaed some but if there not needed i wont use them as there the last thing in the post to show up so there going to hold up the build

Im speaking from my experience in building stroker engines for drag strip and street use cars trucks etc. Interesting, although im not sure why, but i know nothing of the cam specs, that may have played a role
The flywheel acts as a fan and creates airflow. The tin pieces help direct that airflow over the fins on the jug and head. The old air cooled VW’s had the same sort of thing.
The amount of HP and torque gain is insane. Your able to teach an old man and novice more than I ever thought.
Excellent RB. Many thanks for true ratings. Extremely grateful for your work and willingness to share
My pleasure!
Just what I needed 👍 can't wait to see what the 420/460/500 makes when you work your magic on them 😁

man those have a lot more power than the mini bikes I used to ride! But that was in the late 70's.
I showed this vid to my Doctor on just a general check up, he said " that's inspiring".

I'd like to see you build Briggs and straton opposed twin 18 or 20 hp horizontal shaft. U CAN DO IT!!!!!
or a briggs 30ci nobody really makes any vids on the twins
I would put a tensioner on that belt, might reduce the shaking rpm figures

Why is the timming advance done on the flywheel key rather than degreeing the cam?
More fine adjustment with the flywheel. The cam having the gears makes it too big of a jump with each teeth.
