- There are quite a few different models of Apple Watch, but perhaps the most confusing is the Apple Watch Hermes. Since it looks like every other model, but costs twice as much. So what makes the Hermes version so expensive? Well that's what I'll explain in this video.
To sum it all up, the leather on the band is super good and is handmade.

In summary … hermes Apple Watch is very expensive because of the bands that are manufactured by Hermes. And the bands are so expensive cause hermes is luxurious brand that makes really expensive leather products.
Explained it so well it made me almost want to go buy one just to support the level of craftsmanship invested upon the watchband

I love how they took the time to make a visual describing the backstitching at the points of most strain. That is the most basic action of sewing leather. You do that at every single point you decide to stop sewing and cut the string. To make sure the ends of the string once youve melted them or however you decide to do it, to make sure the end points don't get pulled out and the whole thing come undone over time.
Highly underrated comment. I was thinking the exact same thing and I only leather worked for about a 3 months the knowledge to backstitch the end is one 5 minute TH-cam video away from anyone interested in leather stitching
They make it sound like not every professional or semi-professional leatherworker does this and that it’s a special Hermes thing

These prices are still insane for such small and normal items, no matter how many qualifications you give them :-)
Try to buy a good watch and you will see it is still cheap. It is more about style and quality.
This makes sense about the bands. But why is just the Apple Watch Hermes case itself $500 more than the Apple Watch 10 case, without the bands on either? Is it a $500 screensaver? The Apple Watch 10 (46mm Titanium) is $749 (no band), and the Hermes Apple Watch (46mm, unclear weather Titanium or Aluminum) is $1299 (no band).

It’s just that my Hermes band didn’t last long at all. Furthermore, Hermes gave me a very difficult time and in the end, after sending it back and getting it back after 3 months, it was the same damaged band had sent them.
My Amazon $15 band is lasted me since. Go figure.
I got myself the Hermes Apple Watch and its very unique. Plus, it came with two bands. For those luxury lovers out there, it’s a good alternative if you want to give your Rolex a break.

@@A.ndaman the reason is not so much apparent. You know apple can't charge more than double only for privacy. It's okay apple sells at sky soaring prices but....it's problematic that apple sells peripherals like keyboard,mouse, charger at such high prices there's no logic for that.
Apple is polluting the environment more in saying that it reduced pollution.
Also the cost of repairing it's devices take enough charges to buy another one so what's the point of repairing??

Hermès… it’s like your describing a vintage bottle of French wine… only thing is others are just as good. BandWerk ( not a runner up like Forest Atilier) for example has a soft, thin and highly water resistant color fast leather band with 316/304 ss hardware. I would think for this price you should have superior replacement warranty Or some original design as you see in custom sounds made or commissioned by high end fashion (signature) brands. I have not seen a lot of innovation since the Milanese loops or Arc/Helix bands
You’re paying $200-ish for the Watch faces, which is pretty important factor but wasn’t mentioned in the video.

@@AyrisX86 I own several nice mechanical watches dozens of straps that I cycle through. Apple’s “lug” design is far superior. Tool less changes and a seamless fit.

@@AyrisX86 The watch band standard is terrible. It’s really hard to open some of them, some of them require a tool, and it’s somewhat difficult to put the new band in once the old one is removed. And I own a watch active 2, I know how difficult it can be sometimes.
Apples solution may be proprietary, but it’s far superior to the standard.

Its expensive because of the brand. That's it. You could go to a local leatherworker with 30 years experience, and get him to make you the same thing, with the same or even higher quality leather for 1/8th the price. Also this is not hermes cheapest thing, you can literally buy a hermes watch strap for cheaper than the apple watch one

Yes this is so true. I purchased one and returned it right away. There's no way someone will be able to tell you are wearing an hermes watch band. I get it. It's handmade and has the finest leather. But at the end of the day, those who buy this are buying the brand, not the band itself.
People are buying not just for the Hermes leather strap but for the exclusive Hermes watch faces….

There are higher quality handmade watch bands made of premium leather for far less cash. Hermès watch band is expensive because it is Hermès.

Hermes always get to choose away the finest leather first, then only the other brands can start choosing because they are putting huge amount of money to make sure they ALWAYS source only the best leather, and that's why they are always the Top 1 in luxury brand and they are so desirable among collectors that some bags have waiting list of few years. That also resulting in alot of their product rises in value over the years, they can be good investment if you can afford it
@@TheAxisArthemis I understand Luxury products, I know how that market works and I am also into watches I know what a high quality handmade strap costs (very good ones can cost half as much as this, you can get decent ones for as low as 1/5 as much). My comment is not a criticism of the product. It is just to point out that material and labor cost are just a small part of what makes Hermès (and similar class) products expensive.

Hermès also make luxury traditional watches and the higher price tag Apple Watch could justify their brand. And on Apple side they could let the Hermès Apple Watch be their new Apple Watch Edition.
To make a long story short. You're paying $1200 for a leather band not the Apple Watch itself.

yeah, machines arent capable of manufacturing a band because of how small it is, but they can do 5 nanometer chips.
I love my Apple watch series 7 hermes with noir deployment clasp it was pricey but definitely worth it extremely comfortable, classy, and convenient with clasp.

Louis Vuitton is the Lexus of luxury leather goods, everywhere you see a high end chick lasts forever (their smart watch doesn’t count) and brand noticeable. And the cheaper or older stuff you see in tha hoods. 😂

I have the Hermes series 4 and then purchased another Hermes band just like the one shown in the video. Both have the same problem, it uses two layers of leather stiching together and over time the glue/edge paint come off. I do know this is a common problem for leather bands but happening in three months after purchase sucks

Very disappointed in this video - this a pretentious ad for a pretentious product. 0:56 - you left out what is by far the biggest category you’re paying for: the MARKUP for the brand cachet.
Sure, it probably is one of highest quality leather Apple Watch bands you can buy, but I can guarantee you it’s the same quality as one of those $120 Bandwerk bands, also handmade with full grain leather, but in Germany. The remaining $200 is pure “luxury brand” markup.
In my opinion that pronunciation of “Hermes” sounds so ugly and awful! In Gangstar New Orleans (mobile open world game for iOS and Android) there’s a car called “HERMES” and in Dutch (and in my head) I would pronounce that completely differently
because the band is made from a luxury brand.

Tl;Dw: You're paying for the brand of Hermes. That's all it is. Go buy a much nicer Full Grain strap, which is the ACTUAL highest quality leather instead.
This Apple/Hermés watch isn't premium or hight quality. A high quality watch is made from these: sapphire intead of glass or the fake "sapphire glass", titanium instead of stainless steel or aluminium, and a titanium band instead of plastic or leather band. The watch that you can scratch with some everyday tool or with a few grains of sand(6-7 on mohs scale) is not a premium watch, just an overpriced gadget.
This is hilarious, it’s expensive because it’s a designer product and they charge top dollar for the privilege of owning it.
I doubt the people in the factory are paid £100 an hour or that the materials cost an exceptional amount. Even if the leather is 3x more than normal leather it’s not going to be especially expensive to make.
Would be better to just admit that it’s expensive because you are paying a premium to buy into the dream.
I have a full grain wallet that costs me $60. Its handmade, and it’s double threaded. Saddleback Leather. The price is not a justification and your video does nothing to defend this company. There are many companies which produce full grain leather products without the price gouging.
