YES. Apple Watch Hermes is overpriced for an Apple customer. BUT. Apple Watch Hermes is fairly priced for an Hermes customer.

I think what a lot of average consumers fail to realize is the clientele for the Hermes edition is already use to spending 💰 on accessories. They see it as getting an Apple Watch w/ their Hermes band purchase. They don’t need the features of an Ultra because in their industry it’s always been fashion over function. It’s really cool Apple has tapped into this market and evident by the video, it worked.
Apple Watch Hermes face watch cannot and will never be available for regular Apple users. I’ve always wanted to own something Hermes. I finally am the proud owner of a Hermes product & I am a huge fan of watches ever since I got one in a candy bag as a child 😃🥰

I bought my wife, the Hermes Apple Watch that came with the leather and metal band the chain-link and it’s beautiful. She also has a few other Hermes bands. Now that apple no longer sells leather you can only buy the good bands from Hermes.
the hermes version has an extra year of warranty, its definitely a key difference which is worth a good buck, so it’s the only version able to get extended to a maximum of 3 years
I agree with your take in the end. I’ve been debating for years if I want to spend $1200+ on an Apple Watch Hermes but their latest bands makes me want to get the ultra 2, and attach the bands so I get best quality watch from a spec perspective, and a luxury band from fashion perspective. It’s technically sold by Apple. That’s why I think all the overpricing rage comes through. If it was sold by Hermes which is better know for pure luxury I think less people would consider it overpriced.

I actually bought the Apple Watch Hermes series 3 and I don’t really regret it. I’ll probably never buy one again but I still use the band with my Apple Watch ultra.

If you like to wear luxury mechanical watches, Hermes wouldn’t be an enticing Watch brand for you at all

- Sports Band (Part of the Hermes Package): 50 €
TOTAL: 1320 €
Apple Watch Hermes Edition: 1550 €
So Apple is basically charging you an extra 230 € just for the packaging, watch faces and the Hermes name under the case.
So yeah, it's overpriced for any Apple or Hermes costumer. Remember, the important thing here is the Hermes band, you don't even need the sports band if you bought the 900 € apple watch (45mm) with a sports band.
Just because an item isn´t significantly more expensive than the rest of a brand´s portfolio does not automatically mean it isn´t overpriced. Let´s not pretend this is anything but a question of squeezing as much profit from a certain kind of customer. Luxury brands don´t price their products simply based on their quality or method of production. A huge portion of the price has to do with the name itself and the perception of exclusivity (that´s what the whole limited edition / exclusive series / VIP labels are all about). Basically, there is no ceiling where haute-couture brands are concerned as long as there are people willing to pay the asking price.
Many things at Hermes have bs luxury pricing, but their leather is legit, and at the price of their Apple Watch bands, considering the quality of the leather and the fact they are hand made in France, it's actually not that unfairly priced.

Thank you for this video. I wanted to buy a friend of mine an apple watch for her birthday and was trying to decide between the Ultra 2 and the Hermes. In the case of her, she doesn't really need a fancy brand and if the Ultra 2 has even better specs, the best apple watch to get her is the Ultra 2 as a gift for her birthday. This is especially true if they don't care about "brand names".
People buy Hermes because they appreciate the fashion it represents and brings with it. Pure personal enjoyment. There is nothing logical in buying Hermes (any product).

The main benefits of Apple Watch Hermes over the Stainless Steel is literally exclusive Watch face, brand etching, oh and they also made the space black exclusive to it now. And of course the unboxing experience. Not worth it at all.
So what is the difference of ordinary stainless steel AW aside from being ordinary? People exaggerate Hermes apple watch to leverage their ordinary AW. Hermes apple watch is just the same price of ordinary AW SS without Hermes strap.

Just by looking purely at what it is, a regular steel Apple Watch with a special band and watchface, it’s overpriced compared to what you get for the regular one. It doesn’t offer anything unique functionally compared to the regular ones unlike the Ultra for instance.
Hermes is a also high luxury fashion brand and not a watch brand, so it also doesn’t have the horilogical appeal as many people not in the know think it does. Yes, it’s fashion and therefore desirable and expensive, but Hermes as a Watch brand wouldn’t have the same appeal for watches like Rolex or Omega does. For what an Apple Watch does and is currently marketed for (mostly fitness), getting an ultra or regular watch over this would make more sense. This piece feels like it’s from the previous era where Apple wanted to sell the watch as a high luxury item, I’m surprised this one’s still getting sold and the Nike version has been discontinued. If people are looking for a high end watch that’s also luxurious around this price range, a Tissot, Hamilton or Longines would be a way better investment along with a series 8 or SE IMO
The whole point behind this video is that Hermes is a luxury fashion brand; the focus is on the band and not the timepiece.

I invest in my tech so I end up updating all my products every 2 years. Bought the standard steel watch, and then a band separately. Fits nicely, but without the outrageous price tag.

Buying bands to get faces may not work for Hermes because honestly the ultra is ugly. Hermes may not want its face to be there on an ultra, for example

I’m a huge fan of apple, I have macbook pro, ipad pro, airpods pro, apple watch, iphone pro max, but I can’t take your stance seriously because you’re clearly a fanboy and will try to defend or justify anything that Apple does. No, the Hermes is NOT worth it and is extremely overpriced. The only difference from the stainless steel model is the watch band and some digital faces. On top of that, the band doesn’t even look like anything special. The Hermes stuff that you showed is also overpriced, they’re stupid little trinkets priced off brand name alone. The difference is that luxury brand tech depreciates in value bc they get outdated unlike regular luxury items. Like for your ipad 10 video, if ANY other company was to implement the monstrosity of the apple pencil dongle setup, you’d surely tear them apart. But because Apple did it, you’re like it’s not that big of a deal you can live with it (which duh of course anyone can, but why should they need to? it’s an extremely horrible design decision). It’s 2022, it should not be that complicated to pair and charge a freaking apple pencil. stop giving Apple a pass for everything!
As someone who has purchased not one but TWO Apple Watch Hermes over the years. I love them dearly. The leather on the Hermes bands is absolutely incredible and the orange sport band is perfect for the gym. Getting an Hermes watch WITH all the convenience of an iPhone on my wrist is an experience next to none.
