Had Ultra 2 Satin Black for 3 days. Returned it and bought Series 10 Jet Black. Ultra is heavy. Big reason I went series 10, was fast charging. 30 minutes and it’s charged.
Yea that sounds good, but in practice ..... the S10 fast charges to 80% in 30 mins. The U2 fast charges to 80% in an hour, which means 40% in 30 mins. The U2 has over twice the battery duration of the S10, so 80% of the S10 battery = 40% of the U2 battery. So effectively the same.

Yes, and few people bring up the curvature of the Series 10 watch face. The Ultra watch face is bigger in practice...not an optical illusion...more usable space.
I fall a sleep with mine all the time and never notice or feel any discomfort. Only when I have official Apple Watch straps though, the ocean band is extremely comfortable for workouts and sleep. I got the new Milanese loop a few days ago and can’t get over how comfortable that is too. My non apple titanium straps start to get nippy and uncomfortable after a few hours, especially working out. The Milanese loop titanium strap doesn’t have any of those issues.

Had bought an Ultra when it first came out but it felt too big so returned it and went back to my Series 7 Titanium. Resisted Series 8 and 9. Bought the Titanium Series 10. Kind of liked it but I returned it. Why? It felt fragile. I'm not a very active guy but I am a soldier. I could not see that watch lasting too long before it got scratches. That Titanium shiny black looks like it could scratch easily. So I ended up returning the 10 and got a black Ultra 2. I might eventually get me a gold Titanium 10 as a second Apple Watch but time will tell. Do any of you have more than one Apple Watch? Does it work well having two Apple Watches?
I've had my original Ultra for about 2 years now and the battery is starting to diminish. I don't need the rugged or sports-related aspects of the Ultra, but at the time I appreciated the screen and battery most of all. I've been thinking about swapping out for the Series 10, but aside from the thinner body, it seems like a lateral move for an upgrade price. Perhaps the Ultra 3 next year?
Has your Jet Black watch scratched easily like the iPhone 7? Really on the fence getting Jet Black as a first choice or Silver as a second choice if the black scratches as easily.
AWU looks rugged, outdoorsy and massive while the regular “Series” watches look more versatile - can be sporty, casual or dressy and also look more techy and sleek.
I got the new U2 in black…biggest thing I was hesitant about is the 1hz refresh that the 10 gets and the fact that the chip in the U2 is already 1 year old. Overall a big update from my S6 that I upgraded from.
For those with the ultra, is it uncomfortable to sleep in due to the extra bulk? I’m coming from a 7 and can’t decide between the 10 and the ultra 2. Thanks!
@@christyrattay5213I ended up giving my 7 to my son as I was dead set on the 10. Now after watching a bunch of videos I’m kind of wanting the Ultra. Still can’t decide.
Greg, I still have my dad's 1940 Elgin tank watch with actual moving inside gears and a spring driven wind up mechanism -- no battery, and it still works!
Cool, I have a few mechanical and automatic watches, too. Did you or your dad ever get the Elgin serviced? If not, best not to now because can potentially damage the vintage movement since the parts are so delicate. It’s refreshing to find a fellow analog watch owner in a sea of smartwatch lovers.
@@brucegreenberg7573 For such a historical piece you have, I would not wear it either. I rarely wear my watches, only for special occasions. I wear my Apple Watch daily. They are in a display case but I wind them at least once a month so the parts remain lubricated and don’t seize. Sounds like you have a nice collector piece from your dad. Enjoy!
The exact reasons I am on the fence about upgrading my Ultra 1 for the 10. Bought at release and still get two days of battery life and have the O2 sensor.
I would agree with this except when it comes to Apple Watches. If you had a Garmin and one of these it’s more understandable, but these two watches are way too similar to spend nearly 2k combined. Apart from battery life and size, there’s no significant difference. You’d be better off just collecting straps
I’m another 24/7 watch user. There is no time in the day when I want to be without it. I bought the series 10 (gold titanium), but then realized I could keep cellular plans on both my old series 4 (gold stainless) and they swap seamlessly. So always one watch on, one on the charger. I swap whenever I’m about to go out. And honestly, from my 5 year old series 4, the 10 has the shortest battery life, and the 4 is at 70% capacity. If the series 4 goes, I’m getting an ultra 2 as a daily driver, and keeping the series 10 for anywhere I need to dress up a bit.
Why do people make this more complicated than it needs to be? If you're into sports and exercise, go for the Ultra 2. If you just need it for general health tracking and notifications when your phone isn't nearby, the aluminum version-either GPS-only or cellular-is the smarter choice. Why? Because if you're considering the titanium Series 10, you're almost at the price of the Ultra 2. In short: - For notifications and general health at a lower price: Series 10 aluminum. - For everything else, including sports and exercise: Ultra 2. The titanium Series 10 is really only for two types of people: 1. Those who mistakenly think an Apple Watch is a status symbol (it’s not-get a Rolex or Patek Philippe instead). 2. Those who want something more durable than aluminum but find the Ultra 2 too bulky.
Would also love to see a test on scratch resistance of the titanium with the milanese loop. Or on your next update to see if they got scratched or not. I’m seeing others mentioning how titanium scratches easier than stainless steel as well as how often the hardness of the milanese loop scratches polished metal. I love the look of them but prefer low maintenance over looks
I'm upgrading from the Ultra 1 and was really stuck on the Series 10 or Ultra 2 (In black) ultimately it was the battery and the Modular Ultra faces that sway me. Of course here in the UK we get the blood oxygen sensors on all watches, even brand new ones. It's nice having a feature the US doesn't have, normally the other way around (Apple Card and Apple Cash looking at you)
Thanks for the video. The series 10 might have a bigger display but I have noticed that the flat display of the Ultra 2 seems to have a sharper and more crisp display. The somewhat rolled off display of the series 10 in all of the videos I have seen, including yours, the display in the series X appears to be not as sharp and crisp? Also, I just purchased the all black Ultra 2, and with a black band it is amazing how this color makes the watch look less bulky and thinner.
Finally upgraded to the ultra 2 but I went with the natural finish after seeing pictures of the shockingly easily scratched black version and how horrible it looks with scratches. Battery life on my series 8 was the nail in the coffin. It's just terrible now.
A year now with my Ultra 2 Natural, and I absolutely love it paired with my Titanium David Yurman Wedding Band and my iPhone 15 Pro Natural… Only thing I “upgraded” this year was my Watch Band collection with a preorder for the Ultra Milanese in Natural. 😍
I switched from the Ultra 2 to the S10 and I honestly prefer it. The fact I charge it every night and can last a whole day on a charge is more than enough for me.
Ive only recently upgraded to the Ultra 2 from the series 9 and the simple fact was because of battery life and in less than a week that i have had the Ultra 2 i have only charged it once in 5 days and im loving that and that is not even taking into acc the extra features the Ultra 2 has 😊
100% agree and its part of the issue that everyone wants something new every year. Apple would be much better to slow down and go back to releasing something meaningful every 2 years in Phones / Watches hardware.
What a great video. It really helps, I was thinking of getting the ultra but I think I’ll go with the S10. I use multiple AW, I have the black titanium edition of the S7 alongside with the S5 ceramic 44mm which is my all time favorite AW (still with 100% battery health and AppleCare+). I think I’ll keep both and add the jet black S10.
I totally agree with you. I have an Ultra Watch 2 from launch day last year with the blood oxygen feature and I purchased a Series 10 in Rose Gold. I love the series 10 but, I continually go back to wearing my Ultra 2 most days. I love having all the features! Apple really needs to get that blood oxygen feature back on the watches. I check my blood oxygen frequently, and I miss it when I'm wearing the Series 10. Thanks for another great video!
If I have a series 7 and got the series 10 could I use the 7 for sleep tracking then use the 10 during the day or can it only be one watch conected to the phone

Nice review. Just got U2 to replace S4. S4 is a very nice watch. I will keep it paired to iPhone 15 pro. Just not on cellular plan. The chips are basically the same, that wasn’t a factor. Battery was. Voice quality on calls is louder and fuller on U2. Talked to wife several times to confirm this. They say S10 display is bigger. But, I think that is only by adding in the curved edges. For whatever reason I see the U2 display better. It is sharper in or outside and I like the look of the flat screen. The S10 seems glossier and a little reflective. After wearing it a couple days size is no issue. Including overnight. Very happy with choice. I sent the S10 back. All IMHO

I have a series 7 with cellular capability. Been sitting on the fence about getting a new watch, but can’t really convince myself that a cheaper 10 won’t give me what I need over an ultra 2….ugh….
I’ve had my ultra 2 on since last night, changed it while I showed before bed, it’s 7:40pm and I’ve had it on for 24 hours. It’s tracked my sleep, I do alot of movement so it tracks my rings all day and it’s constantly tracking my heart rate and it’s at 56%. I love this watch so much. I’ll charge it in the morning when I wake up but I bet it would still be at least 30% and that’s a whole 36 hours with more battery to go.
I heard all about the new Apple Watch 10 and how amazing it is. I upgraded every year from the OG and when Ultra came out I got one. Did not upgrade last year because was very happy with Ultra. So brings us to the 10. Although was happy with my Ultra I looked at the 10 because all the reviews said it was much less. I beg to differ. Reason I have an Ultra is for the durability, size, screen, capabilities and battery life. I don’t have to worry about the Ultra getting damage when I am swimming or out working. So to get a 10 with that durability I would have to get the titanium which would not be less but more. Long story short I upgraded to the Ultra 2 black very happy.
I'm planning to buy a new watch but I'm wondering between ultra 2 and series 10 which will be a better choice. I'm planning to stay with this watch for a long time
I stayed with the Ultra 2 because of the new color, battery life, action button and the durability. Mainly the color though, I’m losing the blood oxygen ability but I never really used it anyway. Besides, I have a dedicated one if I really need to take a reading. Apple will more than likely redesign the Ultra next year and I’m sure I’ll get it too. The Ultra is definitely more suited for an active lifestyle versus the 10. I still wish they could extend battery life to at least a week though. But I think they’ll probably just find a faster way to charge it like they did the 10.
I use the Ultra 1, still satisfied. Long battery life is a must have as I want to wear it at night and no need to charge it before. As long as the normal model won’t have a better battery life, I won’t buy a normal one anymore. However, i wish the ultra was a bit thinner/ smaller in body size.
I’m still using a series 5 that I purchased after the Series 6 arrived. When new, my Series 5 would make it through the day with the always on display. After some time passed, I had to turn it off to keep the watch going all day for longer days. Then I decided to use it for sleep tracking. Now, I have to make sure to charge it for at least an hour in the morning while I shower. Sometimes it needs to be charged a little bit in the evening to make it through the night. For now, it still works pretty well, but I will consider the Ultra 2 on battery life alone when it is time for replacement although the price will be difficult to swallow. The Series 10 looks nice too and it weight and bill were considerations, I would definitely consider that too unless ai just can’t swing the cost of the Ultra 2.
Apple watch 10 looks like any of the previous 10 series ... just a bit larger. Lack of design change lack of sensors - holding on my Apple Watch 4. the only reason I am looking to upgrade is because battery is degrading but otherwise Apple has stopped innovating on the Apple watch long time ago. very disappointed
I also have the Ultra 2 and I bought the jet black 10. What made me want to buy the 10 was because I loved the jet black iPhone 7 Plus I used to have and was wanting another look and feel like you did. I returned it within a week because the 10 screen even thought it was a bigger screen/resolution it feels like it’s cramped and too close to the edges because of the curved glass. Also I didn’t want to lose the pulse oximeter, battery life is less, for some reason I felt the ultra was more comfortable on my wrist, I also missed the modular ultra watch face, brighter display, and to be honest the ultra is really solidity built watch which is more durable. When I pushed the Digital Crown on the jet black 10 it felt not as solid as the U2. I also missed the action button. I don’t know Greg. Maybe you should keep both 😅
The black titanium Ultra 2 is incredible. I swapped out my natural titanium Ultra 1 for the black Ultra 2, and could not be happier. I will eventually get the Milanese loops to dress it up for when the trail loop is just too casual. Having said that, I would also love to see what the Jet Black aluminum and Gold titanium Apple Watch 10 look like in person just to see what they look and feel like. Too many choices this year!
I get it. I’m returning my series 10 to get an ultra 2. Battery life is the biggest issue
Good call
you wont regret it
I would never downgrade from my gorgeous and functional Ultra 2 to a Series 10

The Ultras are definitely a more masculine looking watch. I totally get why someone would find them too tough, gruff, and heavy if that wasn't their thing.
@@sethfeldpausch4337 I have a ganglion cyst in my wrist that worsens when I wear large and heavy watches.
TH-camrs need to stop calling 5 extra pixels an all new bigger display.
Yes, and few people bring up the curvature of the Series 10 watch face. The Ultra watch face is bigger in practice...not an optical illusion...more usable space.
In Germany the new models have the Blood Oxygen sensor, i think it is only blocked in the US.
Can you please tell, is it ok to sleep with Ultra? Isn't it too big? I understand that 10's is much better on this.
I don’t have it but everyone on Reddit says they have no problem sleeping with the ultra.
I have the U2, and really want the black one, but not updating anything until the blood O2 situation is resolved
- 00:00 ⌚ The reviewer initially favored the Apple Watch Series 10 over the Ultra due to its larger display, thinner body, and lighter weight.
- 00:12 🎨 The Apple Watch Ultra 2 didn’t receive a significant update, except for a new black color.
- 00:34 🏆 The reviewer expresses mixed feelings after switching to the Series 10, reflecting on its pros and cons.
- 01:29 🦶 The Series 10 is the most comfortable Apple Watch ever, especially after switching from the bulkier Ultra.
- 03:35 💎 The new gold titanium finish is praised for its premium look, while the jet black aluminum also stands out.
- 03:58 📱 The display on the Series 10 is larger than the Ultra’s but feels more compact and comfortable.
- 04:12 ☀️ A downside is that the Series 10’s brightness is lower than the Ultra, making it less clear in sunny conditions.
- 04:55 🕑 The Ultra watch faces aren’t available on the Series 10, which is disappointing for the reviewer.
- 06:05 🔋 Series 10 offers significant health features, but the Ultra benefits from the same features through software updates.
- 07:26 ⚡ The biggest challenge is the battery life; Series 10 requires daily charging, while the Ultra offers nearly double the battery life.
- 09:50 🤔 The Series 10 is a worthy upgrade, but the Ultra still holds up for those needing ruggedness or superior battery life.
- 11:19 🎨 The reviewer plans to keep both watches and switch between them, appreciating the diversity they offer in a growing collection.
Ultra 2 natural titanium vs black titanium ? Which looks better
Where did you get the cool Apple logo decoration in the background? Great video!
Thank you for this review, been sitting on the fence on which one to get, this has helped me decide to get The Ultra 2 in black
Is the 10 op for regular user?
Has your Jet Black watch scratched easily like the iPhone 7? Really on the fence getting Jet Black as a first choice or Silver as a second choice if the black scratches as easily.
Not yet but I haven’t worn it that long
@@GregsGadgets Do you have any marks on titanium gold? Would you say durability will be close to ultra?
Do you have to have two separate phone plans for 2 cellular watches? Or can both run on one cellular line?🤞
My ultra 2 won’t be replaced anytime soon…
I bought the Ultra 2 black without hesitation. It looks more masculine than the series 10.
Definitely a MAN'S watch. I don't think I've ever seen a woman with one.
AWU looks rugged, outdoorsy and massive while the regular “Series” watches look more versatile - can be sporty, casual or dressy and also look more techy and sleek.
Wearing a bigger watch won’t make your penis bigger
Same here! Black titanium ultra 2 looks amazing and I love the rugged look of it; I never have to worry about scratches or battery life
Do you feel the gold titanium scratches easily?
I got the new U2 in black…biggest thing I was hesitant about is the 1hz refresh that the 10 gets and the fact that the chip in the U2 is already 1 year old. Overall a big update from my S6 that I upgraded from.
I have a 42mm 10 and love it but it’s too small for me. So really trying to decide between a bigger 10 or the Ultra.
For those with the ultra, is it uncomfortable to sleep in due to the extra bulk? I’m coming from a 7 and can’t decide between the 10 and the ultra 2. Thanks!
you'll get used to it...trail loop with it helps...
Keep your series 7 for sleep, and the Ultra for the day. That’s what I’m going to do with my series 7.
Amazing engineering, we won't be able to say the same for any Apple Watch.
@@AdamSmith-fe9jf I had it serviced several years ago at an upscale jeweler, but haven't worn it since. Sits in a display box now.
I have a series 3 watch, Still on the fence on what to get
The watch collection angle is underrated. Who says you can’t build a collection of digital watches 🤷🏾♂️
Should you get the Apple care for these devices? Is it worth it??
Personally I don’t think so, I have never broken an Apple Watch after 10 years of wearing them lol.
@@GregsGadgetsAnd with iPhones? What do you think?
@@noxnextdepends on how hard you are with phones I don’t get it
I believe you should get AppleCare. I’ve had a scratched lens and a failed battery. AC is a cheap insurance policy to keep the watch in tiptop shape.
its only £3.99 a month for the 10 so I would get it for peace of mind
Why do people make this more complicated than it needs to be?
If you're into sports and exercise, go for the Ultra 2. If you just need it for general health tracking and notifications when your phone isn't nearby, the aluminum version-either GPS-only or cellular-is the smarter choice. Why? Because if you're considering the titanium Series 10, you're almost at the price of the Ultra 2.
In short:
- For notifications and general health at a lower price: Series 10 aluminum.
- For everything else, including sports and exercise: Ultra 2.
The titanium Series 10 is really only for two types of people:
1. Those who mistakenly think an Apple Watch is a status symbol (it’s not-get a Rolex or Patek Philippe instead).
2. Those who want something more durable than aluminum but find the Ultra 2 too bulky.
i have the series 7 45mm, and it’s not worth the upgrade imo. i’ll wait until the watch gets thinner
Upgrade to Aluminum no…. Titanium yes
Impressed you get your skincare routine done in an hour. It takes me much longer.
So it seems, that if I'm a golfer using the watch as a GPS, go for the Ultra 2?
If you're a collector of device watches, you definitely should find a Pebble. ;-)
That's what the color black does.
Finally upgraded to the ultra 2 but I went with the natural finish after seeing pictures of the shockingly easily scratched black version and how horrible it looks with scratches.
Battery life on my series 8 was the nail in the coffin. It's just terrible now.
You made the right choice regardless. Back watches look cheap.
Put my satin black through construction work and handling gravel. Not one scratch.
Had a series 7 SS, tried the series 10 upgraded to the Ultra 2 this week there is no comparison the Ultra 2 WINS hands down.
Will we get sleep apnea tracking on our ultra 2 (black) ?
picking up my ultra 2 from costco tomorrow... with o2
Ive only recently upgraded to the Ultra 2 from the series 9 and the simple fact was because of battery life and in less than a week that i have had the Ultra 2 i have only charged it once in 5 days and im loving that and that is not even taking into acc the extra features the Ultra 2 has 😊
We don’t need a new Ultra every year. Every 3 years or even 4 it’s perfect
100% agree and its part of the issue that everyone wants something new every year. Apple would be much better to slow down and go back to releasing something meaningful every 2 years in Phones / Watches hardware.
i just got the larger SE. Its very affordable with apple care and its the best size.
A was wearing a series 6….. and just got the Series 10 Jet Black. I love love love love this watch.
Sure, would I also love the Ultra 2 battery time, yes, but not the bulk of the watch. Did I mention how much I love this watch?
Disappointed that neither have the 02 sensor. Gonna hang onto my series 7 until they figure out the patent dispute.
They all still HAVE the sensor hardware, it's just disabled via software in the US, until the patent dispute is resolved😭
You can always get a 3rd party app.
I just have 2 AW, one is older but I wear while the other one is charging.
What do you use for skin care?
Are a jar of his granny’s piss.

I have three!😁
Can you pair multiple Apple Watches to the same iPhone?
Yeah and they auto switch and sync too as soon as you put them on
@@GregsGadgets thanks, I did not know that! I’m now torn between the Black Ultra 2 and Jet Black Series 10 😅 I currently have Series 6 so either will be an upgrade!
Just ordered the Black Ultra 2 😅 I think the extra battery life, more durable display and stronger materials will hopefully make this the right decision for me 🤞
Why can’t they do something about the battery already?!
Maybe they want us to buy a Garmin Fenix? ;-)
All IMHO
Greg, what's the battery health of your Ultra 2 after just little over a year please?
My heavily used year old Ultra 2 has a battery health of 99%.
@@jeffsancricca7041 thx for the reply, really good info. My Series 8 (got it July 2023) is at 85% already, my sis Series 7 is at 82%. My charging habit is 15-20 mins while I get ready for bed & 30-45 mins morning shower & get ready for work. I think I charge it too much while my sis waits until she gets the 10% warning. I bet your Ultra, you charge it only every 2-3 days... I search & watch all these 1 to 2 year reviews & no one seems to mention their battery health, so thx again, Mr. Jeff 😊👍
95% it aged a little faster than usual too because I had a beta installed on it. I believe my Ultra 1 was like 97% after a year of wearing.
@@GregsGadgets thank you, I think your Ultra is way better than my Series 8 - I got mine July 2023 it’s already down to 85%, I think I charge it too much (20 mins/ getting ready for bed & 30 mins/ getting ready for work), my sis Series 7 is at 82% - she only charges it when she gets the 10% warning. I bet you charge your Ultra every 2-3 days? Whats your option about the big series 6 bezel instead of the series 7 bezel.
I have a series 7 with cellular capability. Been sitting on the fence about getting a new watch, but can’t really convince myself that a cheaper 10 won’t give me what I need over an ultra 2….ugh….
Does the cellular connection switch between the watches when you have both paired to your iPhone? Please, help me!
I’m just keeping my ultra 2 not upgrading
What you mean upgrade 😂.?, that’s the latest model of the ultra.
@@bledzone231it’s not. Same as last year
Does that particular band pull at the hair on your arm?
Double tap is great I love the 10 came from the original ultra. 10 is so lightweight
I'm planning to stay with this watch for a long time
Most definitely the ultra 2. Superior battery, durability, screen, gps and so on. Also looks absolutely dope!
What about the ultra 2 being almost twice the price?
I stayed with the Ultra 2 because of the new color, battery life, action button and the durability. Mainly the color though, I’m losing the blood oxygen ability but I never really used it anyway. Besides, I have a dedicated one if I really need to take a reading. Apple will more than likely redesign the Ultra next year and I’m sure I’ll get it too. The Ultra is definitely more suited for an active lifestyle versus the 10. I still wish they could extend battery life to at least a week though. But I think they’ll probably just find a faster way to charge it like they did the 10.
Ultra 2 with pulse ox. I’ll wait for Ultra 3.
I use the Ultra 1, still satisfied. Long battery life is a must have as I want to wear it at night and no need to charge it before. As long as the normal model won’t have a better battery life, I won’t buy a normal one anymore. However, i wish the ultra was a bit thinner/ smaller in body size.
I agree with you brother. After some time I reached the same conclusions. 👍👍
Question ? does the Ultra 2 have the saphire glass face ?
Yes
Yup
Apple watch 10 looks like any of the previous 10 series ... just a bit larger. Lack of design change lack of sensors - holding on my Apple Watch 4. the only reason I am looking to upgrade is because battery is degrading but otherwise Apple has stopped innovating on the Apple watch long time ago. very disappointed
Modular ultra face
It’s the only one you’ll ever need
Technology depreciates quickly, it's a waste of money to have two smart watches
