How to change the resolution on Sony Xperia xz3, xz2, xz1 or any android device

Thank you very much for replying to the question whether or not it is possible to change the resolution, I had not find that anywhere else.
I'll pass on the third party App though, I fear it would create glitches down the line, these devices are complicated enough. But thanks again.

If you change resolution to a different ratio. Would you then get black bars? :D I want to do this actually on the 21:9 aspect ratio Sony phones. :D I don't need all that screen. And if I got the screen up a bit, I would have an easier time reaching for the back button and home button. :D

Have you put the device in water? This happens normally when water gets into camera module also
