I prefer Samsung Messages over Google Messages for one reason. I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but with Samsung Messages you can also create categories and organize your messages by those categories. I have a family category and work category and others. So depending on what category someone is in, I can just select that category to get to their messages quicker than scrolling down until I find that person's text thread. However, I do wish Samsung Messages has the reaction feature.
Yes to both of your points. I'm pulled both ways between needing the customization and categories of Samsung but the cool responses on Google. Conflicted.
Google messages has better synchronization across ALL devices which includes phones, watches, tablets and PCs. Samsung messages is inconsistent with appearing on different devices.
I used samsung messages for years. Once I upgraded to the S24 i switched to Google messages and i love it. The reactions feature sealed the deal for me.
I am never using Samsung messages again, the fact that I no longer get that bs "liked with the entire message" anymore is the dealbreaker, google messages is so much better
Idk why on samsung that they did their own skin on google messages as well as organizing messages in different categories i miss that in samsung messages
You forgot a Fantastic feature on Samsung Messages that Every Galaxy user NEEDS to know. If you continue to hold down a message and bypass the menu, you can move the message and put it in the text box or you can move it to the the right or left side of the screen and it will open the message in Pop-Up or Split Screen View and provide app options depending on the message
Thank you so much for sharing this fantastic tip about the Samsung Messages app! I really appreciate you taking the time to point out this super useful feature. Can't wait to try it out. Galaxy users are going to find this so helpful!
@@shacareedixon7195 The RCS Chat on Samsung Message works only on carrier phones. The unlocked version does not have the RCS Chat feature on Samsung Message.
I use Google Messages because I can archive. Archiving allows for a clean screen with only the current conversations visible. It also prevents sending messages to the wrong person since the "wrong person" is not visible.
BOTH apps allow to "pin" conversations but Samsung allows categories/groups that Google does not. I ALSO like the ability to have a different background image/color for each conversation that Google does not.! I will stick with Samsung until they completely kill the app!
I love the fact that you can change each chat background on Samsung messages and you can view all of the unread messages at once and not just mark them as read
YES! It's a matter of preference and I too use Samsung's messaging app because it's seamless on my Samsung tablet when I'm home and RARELY pickup my phone.
I LOVE Samsung Messages so much, especially when I am using a theme. Galaxy Themes transforms messaging for me. For all the people who like Google Messages, that's Great for them, it's just not for me. To me, I think it's important to have options, and I want the option to choose Samsung Messages without losing chat features. My carrier won't provide RCS on Samsung Messages which is why I want Samsung to provide an instant messaging service in Samsung Messages, so Galaxy users can chat with other Galaxy users regardless of carriers. I hope Samsung will invest in Samsung Messages again for Galaxy users like me who prefer it. I really need Samsung to provide an instant messaging service in Samsung Messages like Apple provides iMessage in Apple Messages.
I just read another comment saying samsunf is currently transitioning over to Google messages. Some phones started not coming with it or an update deleted Samsung and replaced it with Google 🤷🏽♀️
@KoalaBeer. Those themes are so simple compared to Galaxy Themes. In Galaxy Themes search for the companies Cogul Planet, Echo Visual, and Pixome Design, and look at all those themes and what Samsung Messages looks like. Even download the trial to see for yourself firsthand. The attention to detail in the theme the designers put in is astonishing. Try it and tell me what you think
Another feature some do not know about is the search feature. If you click on a text and then click on the 3 dots in the top right. You can do a search for a specific word, like "money". I use this when my sons mother says one thing and changes it or claims she has never said something in the past lol. I have her text history as far back as 2016. Thats the only text history i have never deleted. Might not be very helpful to some, but it is definitely helpful when I'm holding her accountable for anything she says 😂
@christlopherbrandimarte4520 I did let her go. Now I hold her accountable when she lies. I don't see anything wrong with holding a grown woman responsible for lying especially one that has my son
Main reason i havent switched to google messeages is because it doesnt have chat cutomize. I can add a picture to the txt background and i love that feature.
If Samsung Message adopted the follow features it would be the best messaging app: the Reactions when you press and hold; the Suggested Reply; and the ability to change the name of the group when in a group text. All three of these are available in Google Message and are the reasons why I keep going back to Google Message.
I love my Samsung messages, but keep getting notified to "UPGRADE" to Google messages. Can you please say what features if any you miss from Samsung messages, and what other features you may love from Google messages? It may help me in my decision to "upgrade" or not. Thanks
Hopefully you reply as I just saw you'd commented originally 2 months ago. There are definitely some features I don't want to lose from my Samsung messages. In relation to shared documents, etc. you have to go into the chat on Google Messages and click on Details. You will see the files there along with an option to change the chat colors (also available in the menu)

Dumb question, but I really like how the Samsung emojis are and if I switch will I still keep the Samsung emojis because I'm on a Samsung phone or will it go to Googles emojis because it's on Google messages?
I like Samsung because its way customizable than Google. I like Google because you can react to a messages with an emoji like iphones and on top of that the emojis come to life when you send it lil small detail like that is what i enjoy. Also Google's spam protection is another plus Ive been using Google as of late but if Samsung can get the emoji reaction ill definitely switch back. Also the AI feature implemented into Google messages is another win for Google
If Samsung messages had shown reactions to messages, had the OTP auto delete, and showed clearly when you are typing, wether its an RCS or an SMS, it would be on top
Google messages is so much superior to Samsung messages that even Samsung is selling all it's new phones with Google messages as it's default messaging app. Why do you think that is..? Real simple, because of RCS.
Long time iphone user since the beginning switched to s24 ultra a few months ago and I've been using google messages so far. Its cool and enjoyable but this vid is helpful in understanding the differences. I never understood why there were 2 messaging apps.. I'll give samsung messages a try in the future
You promised me to post the link of the tree wallpaper with red sun on white background in the reply to my comment on your last video and you actually posted the link ❤️
The only thing that Google has over Samsung is the reactions, because Samsung's link to Windows also allows you to access your text messages from your computer. Also for some reason on Google messages I have quite a few messages that do not get sent, and i have to switch to sms for it to go through 🤷🏾♀️
Thank you AppX for making a true side by side comparison in your video. All other videos I checked are very messy in comparing. Thumbs up to you! Quite a neglected feature is making use of dual SIM capability of the phone. While both messaging apps show room for improvement regarding this feature, Samsung Messages is the only one to conveniently use the name of the respective SIM in a small popup and where you can easily switch between the SIM. All of this is not possible in Google and hence a deal-breaker. Also, I do not like Google's comic style menu screens.
I would like Google just for the reactions. But there's so much more in Samsung that keeps me with it. Being able to pin a conversation to the top, customizing the looks and colors, and even individual conversations. Just like Gboard vs Samsung Keyboard, Google may be better in a few areas, but Samsung just feels more polished overall.
i just want google messages to add categories because thats so important to me. I always have friends, family and work seperated and its so much easier for me to find a conversation like that
Me too... The one thing I noticed though is that I can't seem to discover how to delete previously discussed conversation in the message.. meaning I want to keep the message but I want to clean it up. You can only do one line at a time. Which is really frustrating. I got the same message so that's why I switched to google. But there's so many other things about Samsung that I like that I wish Google could incorporate.
The only reason I'm sticking to the google messages is the reactions and reply to messages . But I do love the samsung messages app. I go back and forth
Samsung messages looks better so I prefer it over google messages. Next do a video on google wallet vs Samsung wallet I think do a series where you compare google's apps (google keep, calendar, clock tasks, files app, chrome etc) to Samsung's apps (Samsung notes, internet, clock, reminders, my files etc) and compare the apps that win each comparison to the iphone ones
The Google message is pre-loaded with the new Samsung phones. I used it for two weeks but it was basic. I'll missed the reaction feature but Samsung is so customizable. The reminder feature and the theme selections is hard to beat on Samsung messages.
I never knew how awesome Google Messages was! I love the reactions and the prompts where I don't have to type like "good job" or "okay" or whatever the smart replies if you will. Although I do miss the full customizable backgrounds. I love that on samsung messages. Hopefully, they will update that one day!
Thank you so much for this comparison video which is exactly what I was looking for and needed. Definitely helped a whole lot; gained the knowledge I needed to make the decision.
One key feature (atleast to me) in Samsung Messages is the ability to select partial text from the SMS. Google doesn't iffer this feature. Another important aspect of Samsung is that the SMS sync with "Phone Link" on Windows.
Yeah, been using Samsung messages for a while, now that i have the Samsung 24 plus, i still didn't like Google messages until the latest Samsung update..it automatically switched back to Google messages lol, then i thought ok i'll give it a chance, maaan i'm glad i did! I love it now! 👍🏽
Google messages is so much superior to Samsung messages that even Samsung is selling all it's new phones with Google messages as it's default messaging app. Why do you think that is..? Real simple, because of RCS.
Also I do like that Samsung search bar is better and I like the fact that you can see all the attachments in each chat instead of them being grouped together like Google messages, even though I think Google is also great
@jackies_world I know but it's every chat Attachment at once, vs for example If I want to see Julie attachments I can go in her text message thread and see all the photos she's ever sent, instead of a Huge group of attachments I have to sort thru.
Another difference in features is Message Scheduling. I used to use Samsung messages but switched to Google. Sammy has a 6-minute limit for scheduling messages. Google has no limit. With Google, I can schedule a message at 12:48PM to be sent out at 12:50PM. Samsung doesn't allow this; it would tell me the message can only be sent out at least 6 minutes ahead of the current time. I don't know, sometimes I'd 4get what I wanted to send after a 6-minute wait time. 😂😂😂
Did you figure it out? Grey on my Samsung. I went back to Samsung Messages because it'd jet black, the UI matches the rest of the phone, including the icon, and I like to use categories.
Long time galaxy user here over 10+ years and I use Google messages and samsung keyboard I like how you used the corresponding keyboard with the messaging app
It would be a great idea with Samsung doing away with its messaging app/software, if they can integrate all their wonderful features in the effort to salvage and improve dramatically Google messaging. None of Google's features are that impressive, it wouldn't surprise me that at the rate that Google is going they will probably play ads as a background for when you are messaging since they run ads everywhere else that's including Gmail, Chrome, TH-cam/TV and it's streaming devices. If for some reason this is unachievable I asked that Samsung rethink their decision and not get rid of your messaging app for I truly believe that it is the best one of all and any operating systems available on smartphones to this day.
if Samsung Messages (not Phone Link) was available on Samsung Galaxy Windows Laptop, like how Samsung Phone is available on windows, I would be using Samsung Messages.
Samsung messages all the way, always been a fan, google just doesn't do it for me I love how it integrates with the phone and the themes and how you can customize it and the emoji and gif and stickers are so much better and there is so much more. Wish samsung would update it but still the best for me.
"once the google message is deleted its just gone",.... lol yea RIGHT. you've given google every letter you've ever typed, even those you haven't sent.
1:55 Many samsung users in the comments are saying that they don't have a chat settings feature to enable RCS in the samsung messages app even and I guess most of these users are from india just like you are from banglore, i guess so why aren't we getting the chat settings feature in our samsung s24 while we are in the same country as you are in ? I have T-Mobile in the USA and they are not very great with RCS messaging. My setting options are totally different than what this video shows but, my personal preference is the Samsung messaging app over Google. For me Samsung works better but other will prefer Google - to whatever works best for YOU!
Both look fine to me. I slightly prefer Google, but I'd probably just stick with whichever comes preloaded with the phone. Anyway, I'd love to see a 4-way comparison like this including iMessage and WhatsApp. I realize everyone has their preference... I just think it would make a great video.
iMessage isn’t an option to be used on any Android phone, so why would it be included in the comparison? Let the Apple junk stay on the Apple phones. RCS is the universal messaging today, and even Apple will be incorporating it this year thanks to the EU forcing them to play with everyone else, like they did the USB-C charging standard.
Mine allows color option only for messaging other Androids, not Iphones. However, iphone messages change color if I change my wallpaper. Currently they are light green.
@@alvarez321 The only way to have RCS with Samsung is if you get your device with a carrier such as AT&T or T-Mobile. If you get your device directly from Samsung there is no RCS support in Samsung messages. I've used RCS in Samsung messages with AT&T but when I would send photos or videos, I would have to turn Wi-Fi off in order for it to be sent. Right now, I'm using a device directly from Samsung so to use RCS I would have to use Google messages.
From the UK at the moment and I and a lotta people I know, have it. If it's there for you but you press to turn it on but nothing happens, install Google messages, turn on rcs feature in that with your number, then turn it on in the samsung messages and it should turn on. You can then delete google messages.
I use Google Messages for RCS. But I like the look and feel of Samsung Messages. Samsung looks more professional. I don't know why RCS is not working in India on Samsung messages . I use Jio as service provider.
There is an option to delete the message directly from the notification in Samsung message which was not available earlier in Google message. I don't know if available now, as using Samsung messaage for this reason which is very convenient.
Whats the point in Google Messages when Google in the near future will remove it like they do with everything they have. They're now removing timeline history from maps and VPN from Google One. Luckily i still have the option of Samsung secure wifi.
Strange on my S24 Ultra in Samsung messages settings I am not seeing chat features anywhere why is that? Matter of fact on my google messages I am not seeing change color or when I press and hold a message I cannot react to anything, Kind of weird if you ask me.
As for the "chat features" on Samsung messages, it depends on your carrier. Some carriers have it, while others don't. So that might be the reason you are not getting it. As for the color changes on Google messages, you have to be chatting with someone who also has RCS enabled for this option to be available to you. For instance, If you are chatting with a Non-RCS user, messages will detect it as a regular Text messages, so the color option won't be available. As for the "Hold to react" I cant help you with that, because it's supposed to function for you even while chatting with Non-RCS users.
@@novadon4729 Thanks but I think Samsung is getting rid of messages because I used to have those features and now I don't, As far as Google messages hold to react it's only between android phones and when I get a message from friends with iPhone it won't work.

I think do a series where you compare google's apps (google keep, calendar, clock tasks, files app, chrome etc) to Samsung's apps (Samsung notes, internet, clock, reminders, my files etc) and compare the apps that win each comparison to the iphone ones
Nope fuck CRAPPLE
All stock android look looks bad for example google dailer ui looks
The Google message is pre-loaded with the new Samsung phones. I used it for two weeks but it was basic. I'll missed the reaction feature but Samsung is so customizable. The reminder feature and the theme selections is hard to beat on Samsung messages.
After using both, I went with GM for RCS.
Did you lose your messages from the Samsung when you switched?
@@MoPro_ nope. Swapping either way kept my messages. Just the rcs function comes or goes
@@Dk-qf8dd Thank you so much! I can't lose all that I have! Thank you!
I never knew how awesome Google Messages was! I love the reactions and the prompts where I don't have to type like "good job" or "okay" or whatever the smart replies if you will.
Although I do miss the full customizable backgrounds. I love that on samsung messages. Hopefully, they will update that one day!
Yeah, huge time saver
Cause typing "ok" takes all of 2 seconds
🙄
If you click the persons name in the conversation you can see shared images and links like Samsung
I am using Samsung messages. It is really great & saves more time in my usage. Like: I can delete texts from notification panel without opening app.
How
Compare Samsung keyboard and Gboard
Yes, It IS NECESSARY FOR HARDCORE USERS. Please do it.
Sure will do it soon
SwiftKey is the best in world
Samsung Keyboard is better. GBoard's ai is garbage compared to Samsung
Why do I have typos when I swipe text on Samsung keyboard.
Color change on GM only works if the other person is on an Android. It doesn't work if your contact has an iPhone.
It does actually. My wife has an iPhone and it lets me change the color of our messages.
Google messages is so much superior to Samsung messages that even Samsung is selling all it's new phones with Google messages as it's default messaging app. Why do you think that is..? Real simple, because of RCS.
Will it use your sim mobile data while you are using RCS webview sir in the PC that is connected on home wifi?
It uses internet connected on the PC. Like how we use what's app web
Also I do like that Samsung search bar is better and I like the fact that you can see all the attachments in each chat instead of them being grouped together like Google messages, even though I think Google is also great
If you click search, it's the same thing just one more click for Google messages
@jackies_world I know but it's every chat Attachment at once, vs for example
If I want to see Julie attachments I can go in her text message thread and see all the photos she's ever sent, instead of a Huge group of attachments I have to sort thru.
I go back and forth between the 2 but I use Google messages more
Cool 👍
Very informative video. Thank you. I'm going to continue using Samsung Messages for now.
Thank you 😊
You can also use messages in the Windows Your Phone Link app
Yes you can but not as web view which can be accessed on any browser including safari on Mac
Oh, and iOS users you can simply disregard. Prolly won't get this feature until 2030 (maybe 🤞🏽)....😂
Its already be announced for ios 18. Public beta is out already too. @@Ladykyra101
How is your dark mode jet black on Google messages? Mine is a dark gray.
Did you figure it out? Grey on my Samsung. I went back to Samsung Messages because it'd jet black, the UI matches the rest of the phone, including the icon, and I like to use categories.
Wish Google would bring back the Personal and Business category for text messages instead of having them all in one spot
Samsung messages have animated emojis and can also create their own style of emojis..cool...
Long time galaxy user here over 10+ years and I use Google messages and samsung keyboard I like how you used the corresponding keyboard with the messaging app
If only google messages had the amoled black like samsung messages.
They need to let us control that type of stuff more
Google messages on s21 ultra does not allow you to change colors. Seems several small features are missing on older devices.
It's not just the S21 ultra, entire US doesn't have it
Sms organizer by Microsoft.. using since 4 years
Thats a great app
I am also using the same since past 5 years
Me too using for past 5 years...most underrated messaging app ⚡️💯
Only disadvantage is that no chat features 😢😢
Best
I wish if you can make a video on Samsung and Google calendar
Will cover that soon
I use Samsung cuz it was pre-installed and it's design looks better to me, even the app icon I don't like the Google icons
if Samsung Messages (not Phone Link) was available on Samsung Galaxy Windows Laptop, like how Samsung Phone is available on windows, I would be using Samsung Messages.
My goodness exactly!
Samsung messages all the way, always been a fan, google just doesn't do it for me I love how it integrates with the phone and the themes and how you can customize it and the emoji and gif and stickers are so much better and there is so much more. Wish samsung would update it but still the best for me.
Thank you AppX 🙂 For this video
Welcome
"once the google message is deleted its just gone",.... lol yea RIGHT. you've given google every letter you've ever typed, even those you haven't sent.
IKR. These people should listen to Edward Snowden!.
1:55 Many samsung users in the comments are saying that they don't have a chat settings feature to enable RCS in the samsung messages app even
and I guess most of these users are from india just like you are from banglore, i guess
so why aren't we getting the chat settings feature in our samsung s24 while we are in the same country as you are in ? Is india
is chat settings an exclusive feature to banglore
let us know bro, how can i get the chat settings feature in samsung messages s24, I am from india as well
thak you😊.
I had it while making this video and now it has dissappeared 😔 I check with airtel as well.. customer case has no clue.. if I get to enable it again I will keep.you posted
It does not work for Jio sim, but it works for Airtel sim. In Google messages, RCS works for both Jio and Airtel.
@@ANURAGMANDAL20 yeah, I just learned it the hard way bro 🤣🤣🤣
I'm in the US and don't see it either
I have T-Mobile in the USA and they are not very great with RCS messaging. My setting options are totally different than what this video shows but, my personal preference is the Samsung messaging app over Google. For me Samsung works better but other will prefer Google - to whatever works best for YOU!
Both look fine to me. I slightly prefer Google, but I'd probably just stick with whichever comes preloaded with the phone.
Anyway, I'd love to see a 4-way comparison like this including iMessage and WhatsApp. I realize everyone has their preference... I just think it would make a great video.
Thanks for the suggestion
iMessage isn’t an option to be used on any Android phone, so why would it be included in the comparison? Let the Apple junk stay on the Apple phones. RCS is the universal messaging today, and even Apple will be incorporating it this year thanks to the EU forcing them to play with everyone else, like they did the USB-C charging standard.
I don't have the change color option for conversations on Google messages (beta) or regular version. In the US.
Mine allows color option only for messaging other Androids, not Iphones. However, iphone messages change color if I change my wallpaper. Currently they are light green.
That changed color option is not available on the US for the main app but if you look in Gemini, it's there Makes no sense
Even the both google and samsung developer team will be waiting for your video for effectiveness.. 😅
😅😀👍
RCS messaging all the way 💯
I don't know if Samsung supports RCS in another countries, but they definitely don't have it here in the US
@@alvarez321 The only way to have RCS with Samsung is if you get your device with a carrier such as AT&T or T-Mobile.
They had support in india but it was revoked few months ago
From the UK at the moment and I and a lotta people I know, have it. If it's there for you but you press to turn it on but nothing happens, install Google messages, turn on rcs feature in that with your number, then turn it on in the samsung messages and it should turn on. You can then delete google messages.
@@NoBodyO2TheG i dnt see the rcs option in samsung message probably they turned it off for india
I'm using Microsoft message app it's good to use and also u have reminder in it it's very useful for make you bill payments
Rcs, what version are you using
15.1.11.1
@ThePhoneFuel Brother why do you get RCS, and we don't I live In India too, and use a Jio as well as an Airtel sim
I use Google Messages for RCS. But I like the look and feel of Samsung Messages.
Samsung looks more professional.
I don't know why RCS is not working in India on Samsung messages .
I use Jio as service provider.
WTH that change theme option for Google messages is not an option on my s24U. It's the unlocked version also.
Entire US doesn't have the change colors option only in Gemini
I wish Samsung would add reactions!
Side note: why on earth do you have 616 unread msgs🤯😵💫
😅 most of them are OTPs or spams which i don't open
@@ThePhoneFuel you can have Google messages delete them after 24hrs, fyi🙃
What's the apk version number of Samsung Messages that you're using that supports RCS? I'd like to download it. Thanks
Mine is 15.1.11.1. The RCS may depend on carrier network support , so do check.
Man I was really upset about that timeline removal. Just pisses me off
6:36 *You actually can see the shared attachments in a conversation on Google messages, you just have to click where it says Details!*
Strange on my S24 Ultra in Samsung messages settings I am not seeing chat features anywhere why is that?
Matter of fact on my google messages I am not seeing change color or when I press and hold a message I cannot react to anything, Kind of weird if you ask me.
same here
edit: odd, when I do not have it as default the chat features show up.
I am sure the last time I used Sammy's messages you have the swiped features. You could even set it to swiped to call
Yeah I remember but now I am not seeing it
I am unable to use rcs can't send photo video audio etc. but why?
Unfortunately mine got disabled after making the video 😖😁
9:56 other than reminder all of those features are right at the top of the screen with google messages
Samsung cloud vs google drive ?
Thanks for the suggestion.. Will check if I can do it
Google messages have a way to check attachments. Tap at the top where you have the name of the contact.
Google for the win
I use Google Messaging. A lot of people don't even know there is a difference because they look the same
Textra for the winnn!!!!!!!
They dont have rcs feature like these two apps
that’s old
@@nbhbadboy2026 It's still regularly updated.
@@nbhbadboy2026does the new one have rcs chat
I was thinking to ask you about this topic. But before that you done. ❤ Thanks.
Google message is e2e encrypted. Is Samsung messages are e2e encrypted after turning on chat feature?
Welcome... No clarity on encryption
Awesome but RCS for Samsung does not want to work on my phone
Konsa model hai😅
I always use Samsung messages. You can customize it each contact with the background that you're texting and it works very good with good luck for more customization
I've tried both . Samsung messages for me
Cool 👍
I'd keep using samsung messages if rcs worked on it but it doesn't, so im stuck with google messages, which isn't necessarily bad, sometimes its a lil buggy but nothing out of the ordinary
