Ahhh good old status and nav bar burn in. They’re exactly why I set them to immersive mode for as long as android supported it. Now the UI of most androids at least gets rid of the pronounced bars. Slight notification bar icon burn in is so much easier to ignore
I guess I'm lucky or something. I bought a Pixel 3a refurb'd from Amazon. And imo, Google thought this phone through. I would've liked face id but I can go without. There's so much of everything else that the phone does right.
The fact a SNAPDRAGON Pixel that is 8 years old is struggling, doesn't give hope for 7 years of updates on the Pixel 8 with their underwhelming Tensor. There's no way Google holds up that deal. And if they do, the 5 people will be happy.
12:50 Google didn't sell that much because their market availability is severely limited, even with the Pixel 9 to this day. My country hasn't even experienced Nexus, let alone Pixel at all.
I still have a Pixel XL running LOS 17.1 (A10) in black that I got 2nd hand. It's not bad as a 2nd phone with a decent camera. Stock rom is a bit heavier than custom rom. Or at least that's from my experience with it. Thanks for the video.
I love the color of the XL and for years have wanted to buy a Pixel but 9 iterations in Google is just fucking incapable of offering the Pixel Line to the whole of North America and leaving Mexico completely to the wayside. The blue XL, the Panda Pixel 2, Pixel 6,7, 8 and 9...and even if I can import them, I will stay with Samsung because they do offer locally.
The original Pixel was funny because I remember they finally just said "screw it, we're 1-for-1 making an Android version of the iPhone" - the dimensions of the 2 sizes were almost identical to that of the iPhone 7 line that year, the bezels were the same, the pricing was dollar-for-dollar the same. Then the next year Apple launched the iPhone X and Google wasn't really in a position to directly compete with that. We got the Pixel 2XL with its widespread screen issues, and the smaller Pixel 2 which I still think is one of the ugliest phones ever made, even for the time.
Got the original by chance after my V10 broke and they didn't have any other phones in stock. Have owned a version every year except the Pixel 7 where I decided to give iPhone a try. The original was most definitely my favorite stock android + a surprisingly good camera!
Ok this is off topic, sorry, but it got me thinking of an Axon 7 I used to own. Powerful phone, but I don't think I gave it enough of a chance. I didn't spend enough time digging in to what it could do.
I just love that blue color. In my opinion it is the best color I've seen on any smartphone. Too bad Google colors then got boring and switched mostly to more pastel tones.
I would really like to know how the pixel 6 stacks up. The phone with the oldest tensor chip which we all expected to forever run smoothly as google can optimize android for it.
TLDR; the first Google Pixel is really blue. Also, it has a headphone jack. 10/10

I owned one and loved it. Drawbacks are battery life, the bezels, and overheating in Daydream. Otherwise it was excellent.
Replace your battery.?
Also rear fingerprint, or on the power button, is way better because you know where it is with tactile feedback.
Gestures are better on small screen because there is less space.
To this day this phone is still the most favourite phone i have ever had. I loved my time with it
Persona 5 music? Cool
To avoid "burning", display must be the same aspect ratio as youtube videos. This is not the case on modern smartphones :(
Ahhh good old status and nav bar burn in. They’re exactly why I set them to immersive mode for as long as android supported it. Now the UI of most androids at least gets rid of the pronounced bars. Slight notification bar icon burn in is so much easier to ignore
the persona 5 ost in the start is a good start of the video
The one thing I miss with the modern Pixels is the back fingerprint sensor, it was in the perfect place.
I guess I'm lucky or something. I bought a Pixel 3a refurb'd from Amazon. And imo, Google thought this phone through. I would've liked face id but I can go without. There's so much of everything else that the phone does right.
Didn't help that Samsung massively improved their UI one year after this phone came out
that's true
Had one of these. Unfortunately the lack of water resistance got to it. I miss it
The fact a SNAPDRAGON Pixel that is 8 years old is struggling, doesn't give hope for 7 years of updates on the Pixel 8 with their underwhelming Tensor.
The blue XL, the Panda Pixel 2, Pixel 6,7, 8 and 9...and even if I can import them, I will stay with Samsung because they do offer locally.
the time when phones had unique design and character✨✨
I genuinly miss the Fingerprintsensor in the back
The original Pixel was funny because I remember they finally just said "screw it, we're 1-for-1 making an Android version of the iPhone" - the dimensions of the 2 sizes were almost identical to that of the iPhone 7 line that year, the bezels were the same, the pricing was dollar-for-dollar the same.
Lens blur is how typical lenses work, not a bonus feature.
Htc also been making dual front firing speakers.
Man i miss the rear fingerprint reader for scrolling
I forgot it could do that. I have a Pixel 3a and there's an option to turn that on, somewhere in Settings. : )
I would really like to know how the pixel 6 stacks up. The phone with the oldest tensor chip which we all expected to forever run smoothly as google can optimize android for it.
While they did get rid of the headphone jack on the standard pixels it was around on the "a" series till the 6a.
Pixel xl is goated. Loved that phone.
I loved singing mine. I kept using my Pixel 1 until the Pixel 5.
the radar stuff was cool, i got really used to that when I had my p4.
I would definitely do another video with a custom ROM, you can install Android 14 on this phone
i just love the design and the size of that phone
