The old man serving the roof tile filet is so wholesome. He really thinks he’s doing a good job and really wants him to enjoy it. You can tell he’s just a sweet old man.

They usually have nothing to do with the food that is served. And sometimes they are even mistreated by the owners.

I'm not sure there's anything Gordon Ramsay hates more than arrogant oblivious people who refuse to see what the problems are and the need for change. Usually the servers aren't in that category and are just collateral damage.

I saw that at (at least one of) his places, every evening before dinner service he puts a $100 bill on the wall and whichever server is the 1st to sell one of every item on the menu gets it at the end of the night. As a server, I think it's a brilliant way to incentivise your FOH staff.

I used to think Gordon over exaggerated the food reviews but he's had so much cooking experience that I can't complain
I think he does. Food could taste mediocre, but as it's scripted reality, they throw in their own story.
From what I think, the restaurants are obviously real. They tell Gordon's team what's up (not many customers, etc), then the team thinks about parts of that, that could be made better. So for example when the food isn't that bad, Gordon just says it's really bad for the camera. He does help them with the restaurant, but bits of all of that are fictional to have a better and smoother experience as a viewer

Fresh Frozen isn't inherently terrible. Fish specifically CAN be frozen and taste exactly like fresh. The thing about that though is that generally it is flash frozen with liquid nitrogen and doing so is expensive and is generally only done with deep sea fish that will go bad before getting to your plate.
A lot of sushi chefs swear by flash frozen over fresh-never frozen. In America and Europe all sushi has to be frozen by law, but if you go to a legit sushi restaurant the sushi will be delicious still. Also, sushi restaurants aren't keeping that fish frozen in their freezer for weeks or months. They use it all within a couple of days.

I get that, but none of these chefs have ever flash frozen a dish, they get ingredients freeze them for months in a putrid walk in and then they call it fresh frozen.
Flash frozen fish is more of an exception to the rule
With sushi you’re supposed to freeze it to kill off any parasites. There’s a proper way good chefs will do this though it’s not just “throw it in the freezer”
There are some things that are legitimately better off frozen. The frozen fruits from the store aren't good for garnish, but if you're making a smoothie, they're nutritionally better for you because it's closer to actually fresh than never frozen fruit that has been allowed to ripen. The other thing is that frozen never has to be a bad thing. The problem comes when things are defrosted and frozen multiple times as well as defrosted too quickly. A properly defrosted meat will never let you know it was frozen, assuming it was frozen quickly the first time and not kept frozen for weeks.

As someone that has been a waiter before, I really appreciate how Gordon is very gracious with the waitstaff. He understands that the waiter didn't cook the food.
You can see that he’s a breath of fresh air to these servers, between shitty food, shitty owners, and shitty customers that every restaurant experiences
Wait staff get the shit so often, gordon owning loads of restaurants means that he definitely knows that a waiter isn't someone to be a dick to when there's a problem.
Sadly, it seems it may be a bit of a front, since he has fired a waiter on the spot just for spilling 1 drink.
i mean... he spilled a drink. that's a serious mistake on the part of the waiter. what they're talking about is not blaming the waiter if the food is terrible because they're not the one who cooked it.

It's usually like that with delusional owners. They think Gordon is just gonna go in there and fix all their financial problems by having them on his show and God knows what else. They never imagine (or accept) that there could possibly be something wrong with the food or restaurant.

Whenever I feel hungry in the middle of the night, instead of eating, I just tend to watch these, fixes my appetite in minutes.
I actually eat watching these.Once Gordon starts complaining how bland and tasteless and horrible most of these foods are, I feel grateful for the tasty food I have and it puts me in the right mood.

Fresh, usually the best
Frozen: Bad, but in very few circumstances okay
Canned: Your restaurant is absolutely fucked. There is no saving it.
…and don’t have a microwave
I’ve also noticed another pattern with a lot of restaurants on this show , When Gordon comes and changes the menu a lot of restaurants change is back once he leaves and whenever they are asked about it they always say something like “ Due too high demands from our loyal customers we changed the menu back cause they didn’t like the new menu “ but who are your loyal customers?

It always makes me laugh when these people call Gordon for help..then when he tells them what’s wrong (99%of the time it’s the food) they freak out like Gordon has no clue what he is talking about. So why call him in the first place? 😂
