  • I purchased a used 2015 Cadillac ATS 2.0t with 17k miles on the odometer. The first owner put 3600 miles on it. The second owner drove it hard and did not perform normal maintenance. I'm working slow and steady to "restore" this beautiful Caddy.
    NOTE: Change your oil after a chemical valve cleaning. I plan to use CRC Valve & Turbo Cleaner right before every oil change interval.

      It’s the only pcv connection on the top of the air intake. Pop it off and spray inside 👍

    Anybody know where the dealership techs tap into with their fuel system cleaning machines, is it the pcv line or some other vacuum line? I'm a bit reluctant to paying $182 for a fuel system cleaning if thats all theyre doing.

    • @sstressfl
      @sstressfl  ปีที่แล้ว

      They tried to charge me $200 for the same thing. I said I use crc and Techron fuel system cleaner. They said “oh”. They charge you for doing what you can easily do yourself. I put the crc thru the pcv port and it works great.

      Check the plug color while you’re at it. Also I have been using techron in the gas tank every spring. Helps to keep the injectors clean 👍

    was your idle very rough in drive or reverse before doing this when you first got the car? and dud the engine vibrate pretty bad side to side?

    • @sstressfl
      @sstressfl  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My idle was indeed rough. Not good and not like any Cadillac I've ever been in! :) When rolling at steady speed it seemed ok, but on accel it you could feel it surge, then flat, then surge. The air filter was nasty with a mouse nest inside the air box. The intake near the turbo was filled with thin watery oil (poor quality oil, and old). It was obvious no one had taken care of this car. It was MUCH better after the crc cleaning (do that before changing your oil), fresh air filter, new oil and filter, and cleaned out intake. The car got even better after the transmission flush, rear and front diff and transfer case fluid change. Now I do the crc every 2nd or 3rd oil change. I can tell it needs it when the idle starts to get a little wobbly again. It smooths out after CRC (then fresh oil). I hope that helps!

    Do you have a catch can installed? If so, what kind and would you still run the CRC through if you do have one? Thanks, love the videos!

    • @sstressfl
      @sstressfl  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the feedback! And no... to this day I do not have a catch can installed. I use the factory "catch can" installed inside the intake. Most people call it a "silencer" but it's job is to trap oil and it works well. I clean my intake every oil change and it has the smallest amount of oil on it. I have not lost any oil between oil changes. If you do plan to replace your intake with an aftermarket one, you will definitely want to run a catch can. Hope that helps!

      @@sstressfl Thanks so much for the response. My ATS has 129k miles and my turbo is failing and needs to be replaced already. My mechanic said it was caused by the crankcase ventilation/oil being blown back. I was ignorant to this potential problem and GDI maintenance up until now. I ordered a catch can from ZZP to mitigate it from here on out. Would like to regularly use CRC as you do from here on out. I’m not sure if the CRC would run through the system properly with the catch can?

    How are you getting 29 average miles per gallon? I’m getting 21.6. I purchased my 15 black Cadillac ATS with 16,000 miles and now has 33,000 on it just owning it a little over a year. Also If I use this crc how long can I wait to do the oil change?

    • @sstressfl
      @sstressfl  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Congrats on the new ride!! :) The CRC caused a temporary lean condition which is why I saw such high mileage.... there was so much saturated carbon that it actually took a couple of days for the crc to completely clear out of the system and my mileage returned to mid 20s in town and low 30s on the hwy. This winter my car started to see low 20s in town and this spring I found out why... dragging rear brakes. Eventually 1 got so tight that I discovered the problem: th-cam.com/video/b-UQ-SotIOU/w-d-xo.html My mileage returned to normal once I fixed them with new calipers, pads and rotors. One more thing, Cadillac calls for a transmission service at 45k. I just did mine at 39k due to increasing shuddering. I'm glad I did it. The pan was filled with metal shavings. It looked like a trans after 100k or more miles. I did a video on that as well: th-cam.com/video/tzwCkaozqMc/w-d-xo.html Changing the fluid was good for another 1 mpg. It made a huge difference in the feel of the car, smoothness, quieter, better shifting. Immediately after you use the CRC and do the recommended drive, change your engine oil and filter. Some of the CRC actually gets passed the rings and into the crankcase. Also, inspect your intake for any oil buildup/puddling and clean it out if necessary. Keep that air filter clean too! Oh and once per year, buy a bottle of Techron fuel cleaner. I buy the small bottle that treats 12 gallons. It'll help with the fuel injectors. Hope that is helpful!

      Michael Byrne when you say immediately change the oil do you mean same day or can I wait for 5 or 6 days?

    • @sstressfl
      @sstressfl  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tommy Miller I do it the same day. Oil is diluted by the cleaner. Dont want to cause any premature engine wear 👍
