- Hi all Wolf Lord Rho here... It's time for some Primarch talk!
Today we are discussing Primarch of the Iron Hands, Ferrus Manus' first meeting with his brother Vulkan. Primarch of the Salamanders.

Little known fact: "The flesh is weak" is sth Ferrus got from Vulkan. But the whole quote is " the flesh is weak but deeds endure."
It's the opposite theology of Thulsa Doom.

Unfortunately Ferrus' legion perverted the statement to justify replacing their body parts with machinery at every opportunity. I guarantee you he would be disgusted with what the Iron Hands have become.
@@saltedllama2759 i think they went bat shit only after daddy Ferrus died. The IH did some daaaaark shit to thenselves, not bc they thought flesh was weak, but bc most of them were so ravaged by the constant war on the traitors that their bodies couldnt keep up. But instead of dying many of them would turn to soulless automatons just to be able to keep fighting. Pretty sad if you think about it. All that shit bc of a love for a father who really didnt care all that much for his legion.

ferrus is T7 S7 fellow and a big boy he could endure.
Reminder that Khan is probably the most honest and straight-talking Primarchs and he outright states that the two of his strongest brothers are Ferrus and, surprisingly, Mortarion. Ferrus is too soon removed from 30k to get a good scope of what he could do, but let's remember, that he's the only Primarch that canonically "tested" himself against the Emperor. Not "lost", but "tested against". Let that sink in. Fulgrim got a sucker punch in.

I love the part where Ferrus mentions Vulkan’s armor. It shows the difference in ideology, Ferrus builds practical war gear with not much emphasis on artisan ship whereas Vulkan builds gear to look good aswell.
Vulkan: I'm bored, no one will want to build legos with me.
Emperor: Dude, you got a bro who loves legos as much as you.
Vulkan: Really!?
Emperor: Also you have another bro who's yellow and loves to play fort. And another bro who's a smurf and loves to tell everyone else what the rules are for playing fort. And you have a whole bunch of other bros who like playing knights and will guard your fort.
Also Emperor: And you have a whole bunch of bros who want to break your fort and steal your legos b/c they're jealous bullies. Try not to kill your brothers over legos.

As much as i like Ferrus his sons are outright insane. I highly recommend the lore on the IH shortly after Ferrus dies. Its tragic and badass at the same time.
B M what book(s) do you recommend?
Meduson is mainly about tge shattered Iron Hands legion and their struggle to survive. Angel Exterminatus is about Fulgrim and Perturabo and a renegade IH team attempting to kill Fulgrim. It also features the most badass Raven Guard you'll ever see. The Seventh Serpent is about the IH and Alpha Legion.
There is one particularly sad story of a IH discovering old commrads so heavily augmented that they were barely human but forget what its called. I dont want to go into detail bc of spoilers. Maybe someone can help out.

Don't the Dark Elder regularly raid Vulcan's home planet? He probably has a much lower opinion of Eldar than his brothers.
Didn't the Emperor first have to guide Vulkan to some ritual for him to conclude they would never accept Imperial rule ? In fact wasn't he disobeying orders up to that point and actually avoiding trying to massacre the general population ?

Wolf Lord Rho, you've managed to put me in the "Emperor did love his sons" camp. Granted, he can be distant, but you're right. It's little moments like this were he's just smiling to himself thinking, "Oh you boys" when things like Ferrus being the hard-as-nails dude he is jumps straight to judging the armor before he judges his brother.

It seems that the more "human" and down-to-earth a Primarch is, the more the Emperor liked them.
Unsurprisingly, people tend to like you more when you're not up your own ass, lol.
Makes sense, that was what the Emperor ultimately intended.
I believe all the Primarchs had a purpose, and Vulkans purpose is to be humanity's protector. Big E ultimately did everything he did for the species, so he really connected with anyone who saw what he saw when he looked at an ordinary person.

Vulkan, Ferrus Manus, and Perturabo where in all intents and purposes meant to be the Emperors architects and builders, meant not only to unite the empire but too forge it into something glorious and beautiful. One can only imagine what the Imperum of the forty first millennium would have looked like had the heresy never taken place.
Of all the Primarchs, i think Ferrus best understood and accepted who he was, and what he was created to do. He had no time for daddy issues or bullshit. He was created to lead armies, smash stuff and conquer a galaxy for the Emperor. He trusted the Emperor to handle the rest. He did the job he was created to do without questions or complaint. That's why the Emperor favored him.

Yes.. It is a long time coming.. But i think the wolf king or the raven will be the first to come back.. The avenging son needs his brothers more than ever..

I do love any Great Crusade stories we get. Personally far more interested in that time period over the Heresy.
I have just read the story and I must admit vulkan has to be my favourite primarch he's possibly the most intimidating physicaly to behold out of all his brothers due to his massive size complection and colour of his eyes but his humanity shines threw fantastic story and brillant post

Ferrus is one of the first found sons. If the Emperor was testing him in any way, I personally believe it would be a test for the role of Warmaster.

As a Ferrus Manus fan, I'd love to see what your take/perspective of things would've been like in a what-if-scenario video about him. Over what would've happened in the long term of the Horus Heresy if he survived and escaped the Dropsite Massacre like Corax did. As I imagine if he didn't get killed off as soon as he did, his presence on places like Terra would've had a massive impact on how the climax of the Horus Heresy would've ended.

Yes, that last part reminded me of when the emperor summoned Ferrus in the webway against the forces of chaos (Feruus was dead in the material world). Imagine e well made and catered with film about these scenes and characters ...

Another excellent video, thank you! I am a fan of the primarchs and these two are some of the more interesting ones, they just seem to have more depth to them than one would think at first glance. It is a shame that Ferrus Manus died so early on in the heresy as I would have loved to see his character fleshed out even more. Oh and Vulkan lives.

Would really love a fight scene with the emporer and all the primarchs fighting together against some enemy. Would be super cool but prolbely unlikely as it would be overkill.

Dunno why but I got huge vibes of Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-One Kenobi with the Emperor talking to feris there. Maybe the description of his sword catching fight made me think of light Sabres but you can just see them doing a Jedi leap down a cliff edge after that

What if.... Vulcan is the son the Emperor wants on the throne when he passes the torch? Vulcan is unique in that he cares about building, repairing, and people. Vulcan isn't a blood thirty mutant like the wolves, vampires, and wizards. He isn't as callous as some of the others. Guillemon would seem like the most logical choice with his skill set and abilities to coordinate and magistrate.
They need to bring Vulkan back next...
How different 40k may be if people remembered Emp's line about life not being so cheap.
