It comes down to empathy. Vulkan is able to think beyond himself and his mission and empathize with his brother. He is able to share the emotional burden of the tremendous stress that Rogal is under. Rogal’s pain at the betrayal of everything the Primarchs were created to build and accomplish is heartbreaking and I think Vulkan is able to sense that, and for moment, provide some familial comfort. Great writing though and I agree that these dialog scenes between the Primarchs are just awesome!
Vulkan: I EMBRACE DE DORN BROTHER! Dorn: vulkan....... I cant breeeaatgyhh! Damn you "If the emperor had a text to speech device" for making my brain imagine the scene like that :P
One of the big reason I am a Salamander fan boi is because the Salamanders and Vulkan especially are the human heart/soul of the space marines and primarchs, and does this mean that Vulkan is now part of the siege of Terra? I haven't really kept up with the new 30k lore and novels. Also from this I get the sense that Vulkans portrayal in TTS as a hug crazy man is a bit more grounded in the lore than I first thought.
Vulkan is the emperor’s humanity, and that’s one of the main reasons I like him the best. Also, he definitely is one of the best fighters even without his perpetual-ness
Vulkan is the most compassionate but he's not the only Primarch that felt protective of all humanity and ultimately Sanguinius gave his life to stop the greatest threat at the time to humanity. Vulkan and Sanguinius had reputations, even ridiculed by some of their brothers for having bonded with the normal humans of their home worlds. Hell you can see that compassion in their sons with virtually every conflict they are involved in. Dante for example evacuated every human on Baal and every moon into deep underground caverns before the Nid fleet arrived and he made it the single most important thing in preparation for the Nids arrival, even to the point that he wasn't able to finish deployment of his Space Marine. Aside from the Salamanders what other Chapter would devote that much of their time and manpower to evacuate/secure civilians? Even Guilliman would have allowed practicality to override his compassion.
Strongest, not best fighters. In multiple novels he is not mentioned by his brothers as who they think are the best fighters. But yes, as far as I know he is the only primarch to ever flip a land raider out of frustration and use a primarch as a beating stick lol. Then again, we have Angronn stopping a reaver titan with his bare hands..
"Vulkan is greatly overlooked ". That my friend. And it is really a shame, Vulkan is the glue that holds what's left of his brothers humanity together.
I've I could cry I seriously would be crying from the interaction between the two brothers. It's so sweet yet somber it breaks my heart and warms it, >_< such emotions damnit and how you read it just hit the feels harder! I am so buying the physical book and audiobook now! I've had little exposure to Vulkan and his sons I heard he was the heart of the primarchs but holy crap he's glorious! Like the warm kiss of the sun's light on a spring day. Or grandma's cinnamon cookies straight out of the oven or the first sip of hot chocolate on a snowy day! I need more of Vulkan!
yeah he always reminds me of john coffee from the movie the green mile.. a gentle soul with a raging inferno inside of him. what would it have been great if michael clarke duncan still would have lived and play vulkan..
I enjoyed the reunion. Sadly Vulkan will most likely not be same especially after what happen to him at the war of the beast. Also we are not hundred percent sure how sane he would be due to age and perpetually. Primarch age reference guilliaman dark imperium, and for vulkan reference his psyche from war of the beast series. Also look at big E himself... 10,000 years could definitely change a person. Maybe, we might have a glimmer of hope of something happening to vulkan.
Some great points! I feel if he does return he will be closer to this version of Vulkan. He would bring more to the current narrative like this rather than the damaged version in my opinion. But being the grimdark 40k universe you could well be right!
Big E is different cause he spent that time trapped in an unending battle with Chaos. And he's still sane enough to chase off Mortarion with a warning rather than just destroying him outright. Truthfully I think GW won't change Vulcan too much due to him being so popular as the big lovable hugging badass.
@@hermeister3870 Not splintered just very stretched. Though he has gained considerably in power and multi-tasks pretty easily for short periods of time. Vulcan will likely return eventually. But if the recent Space Wolves shaman vision comes to pass we will see Johnson first then, the Khan and Corax. I'm pretty sure that was GW's way of announcing the next returning loyalists.
I think Sanguinius could compete with Vulkan for being the nicest of the bunch. Everyone liked him, though he's dead so I guess that makes Vulkan the nicest anyway haha. Yeah it would be nice for Vulkan to turn up and help Guilliman out, he probably needs it. Maybe Vulkan can get Lion to come out finally as well.
Sanguinius was kind in the way a ruler or prince loved his people. Sanguinius was not a personable fellow. Vulkan was an everyman's man, he related not just to his brothers but to normal humans too.
Yet Bothe were ridiculed by some of there brothers for forming bonds with the normal public of there home worlds the angel was the favorite of the entire imperium not just his brothers outside big e of course But even dorn sometimes slept in his adoptive grandfathers cloak to remember happier times
"Hmmm. I have awoken after dying da death again. And dis time, I made dis thingy. I do not know what it is, but I'm sure Father will appreciate da craftsmanship. 'E JUS LOVES SHINNY GUBBINS!"
Vulkan I would describe as ¨The Heart of the Imperium¨ or ¨The Heart of Mankind¨ he is human. He can see the good in all people, the worth of everyone and he knows how important it is to protect those that cannot do so themselves. ¨When gathered and brought together, fire will reignite and flow...the mountain will stirr and the dragon will roar, at its darkest hour will he return...the lord of drakes and all darkness will burn¨ my own little quote hehe.
I know I'm a bit late to this video but I have to say; bro your narration, your voice, fit the scene so unbelievably well. If there is ever a movie or some sort of video made with the primarchs having dialogue and Vulkan is in it you would be the guy I hoped they'd pick to bring his voice to life. Exemplary job on this video.
Vulkan and Corax I feel would be a good match the both of them have human feelings and tendancys acting for the good of the people. I would love to see a future interaction between them
This is why Vulkan and the Salamanders are my favorite. Even though their Giant War Machines, They still keep in touch with their Human Side a lot more then the other Primarchs and Chapters.
"I suspect that would be difficult. Even for a hundred of my sons." even rogal dorn himself knows not to mess with vulkan.. For intents and purposes, vulkan is truly a gentle giant.. Eleven feet tall, the physically strongest of the primarchs could probably kill a normal human by flicking his fingers on your skull and yet he hates being a warrior.. He himself sees him being a maker, a craftsman and not a weapon of war.. But when he does fight, lord help you..
That artwork, starting at the 10:30 mark or so, showcases (along with other recent pieces) just how massive the Primarchs were in stature, even when compared to other Space Marines. Where an Astartes was around 7 feet tall and over 500 pounds, with Primaris being closer to 8 feet, some of the Primarchs were twice that (or more)! A handful of Custodes are also large, but even they aren't Primarch-sized. Truly, the galaxy was ruled by giants in those days; demigods of war.
I love all these videos. The mechanicus soundtrack is perfect. I was listening to it for a few days and I'm happy to hear it on here. Praise the Omnissiah.

I think that Vulkan is extremely important to his brothers. Clearly Dorn needed this meeting. Could be why the Emperor sent Dorn to greet his brother rather than Jaghatai or Malcador or just Custodes

Yes.
And he passed that soul on to his sons. More than any other legion, they are compassionate and protective of normal humans.
VULKAN LIVES!!!!!
@Apathetic Apparition god dam it
Vulkan is the emperor’s humanity, and that’s one of the main reasons I like him the best.
Chris Bennett I agree, the Angel was a very fitting epithet for him. My only critique is that his sons have a habit of turning into vampires lol
Uncle vulkan hug me😇
I can’t remember where I heard it but from what I’ve heard dorn would sleep in his adoptive grandfathers cloak to better remember happier times
@@chrisbennett6236 also gotta remember big E kinda has a mild cas of splintered soul
@@wolflordrho do you like the TTS version of Vulkan being half-Ork mentally?
I think Sanguinius could compete with Vulkan for being the nicest of the bunch. Everyone liked him, though he's dead so I guess that makes Vulkan the nicest anyway haha. Yeah it would be nice for Vulkan to turn up and help Guilliman out, he probably needs it. Maybe Vulkan can get Lion to come out finally as well.
Sanguinius was kind in the way a ruler or prince loved his people. Sanguinius was not a personable fellow. Vulkan was an everyman's man, he related not just to his brothers but to normal humans too.
Hugging contest!
Yet Bothe were ridiculed by some of there brothers for forming bonds with the normal public of there home worlds the angel was the favorite of the entire imperium not just his brothers outside big e of course
But even dorn sometimes slept in his adoptive grandfathers cloak to remember happier times
He'll wake up the Lion by hugging him until he can't take it anymore
Gotta be honest, I was on the verge of nerd tears when two of my favourite primarchs parted, like... holy shit.
That hug always chokes me up
Vulkan is a sweet fellow.
He lives. But in what state... I don't know....
I really enjoy this series. Keep it up
Thank you!
You have a great voice and I love how you get personally involved in the reads. Makes me wish I could talk lore with you over a drink xD
¨When gathered and brought together, fire will reignite and flow...the mountain will stirr and the dragon will roar, at its darkest hour will he return...the lord of drakes and all darkness will burn¨ my own little quote hehe.
that quote is inspiring enough to keep a Salamander alive at death's door
Vulkan lives!
Boop
I know I'm a bit late to this video but I have to say; bro your narration, your voice, fit the scene so unbelievably well. If there is ever a movie or some sort of video made with the primarchs having dialogue and Vulkan is in it you would be the guy I hoped they'd pick to bring his voice to life. Exemplary job on this video.
"Come here, Bruddah..!"
Even the sternest superhuman needs a hug from his brothers once in a while
*Bruddah!!!*
*BRUDDAH FRIEND*
Vulkan and Corax I feel would be a good match the both of them have human feelings and tendancys acting for the good of the people. I would love to see a future interaction between them
You do have one, called If the Emperor had a TTS device : Bro Trip
It's the greatest
This is why Vulkan and the Salamanders are my favorite. Even though their Giant War Machines, They still keep in touch with their Human Side a lot more then the other Primarchs and Chapters.
Dorn: I heard you died.
Vulkan: I got better.
One of my favorites primarch's! Vulcan is legendary figure!
He holds back the most.
Vulkun is my favorite by far! I bleed salamander green! His story is the best and I feel most important Primarch as well.
You green-blooded Vulcan.
Vulkan is the biggest most lovable teddy bear pyromaniac ever .
*STOMP STOMP*
Maaaan your voice is like silk homie I love it I can watch you and lutein all day
Man! Your 40k lore analysis are on a whole other level! Pleasure to listen to!
Vulkan, stop accidentally murdering my son
Come on Salamanders, you're almost there- *just two more artifacts!* We need Vulkan for sure.
I love all these videos. The mechanicus soundtrack is perfect. I was listening to it for a few days and I'm happy to hear it on here. Praise the Omnissiah.
I always thought Vulkan was the strongest but always held back so not to hurt his brothers.
He did and you are right
Old earth, is probably my favorite book in the series. I love to come back and listen to these.
"Vulkan is the strongest of the Primarchs"
Angron: Hold my Warhound titan...
Angron is an angry tyrant...but Vulkan...Vulkan is power, pure amd and refined
@@RebelOfTheNorm242
>tyrant
Confirmed for knowing NOTHING about Angron.
@@GentlemanBystander i do know this:
He was blood thirsty
He BETRAYED his Father
He massacred a third of his legion
He besieged the homeworld and killed thousands of his cousins in the name of Chaos.
And he became an Emperors forsaken DAEMON PRINCE OF Khorne...
Angron is a damn traitor and nothing can redeem him besides the touch of Holy Psychic FIRE!
@@RebelOfTheNorm242
-He was mentally butchered by the Thal'kyr clan who enslaved him from the time he was an infant.
-He was forced into being an oath-breaker and forsook those who he called kin BY his father.
-He culled the portion of his legion that was loyal to the Emperor and actually sat beside one of his dying loyalist sons telling him he fought well.
-He attacked the headquarters of a demonstrable tyrant.
-He was, once again, forced into becoming a Demon Prince...once again without his will or consideration being taken into account to once again be shackled.
Angron was the only Primarch that perhaps understood that he was no and never would be free in anything but death, a death he wanted and a death that was denied him.
He also managed to hold back a Warhound Titan after digging his way out from under thousands of tons of rubble.
@@GentlemanBystander you sympathise with the atrocities of a primarch, who forsook his birthright as a child of the Emperor and the responsibilites given to him as one of humanities leaders to triumph...for a few personal dilemmas that affected his psyche?
He ABANDONED HUMANITY and nearly destroyed the empire with his actions...you speak as if him sitting beside one of his soldiers he knowingly butchered, shows his sympathy...NO! It shows his CRUELTY and his abandonment of what made him human.
To sympathize with that traitor, who forfeited his DAMN SOUL to the Blood god, is HERESY!
Thanks
I only recently found your channel and I do have to say that your focus on the Pirmarchs meeting is most welcome. Your comments are most insightful, much different from the other channels, and much better.
people who'd read the Game of Throans books before the TV series are going to have nothing on the knowing looks of 40k fans if there ever are any decent 30k films
at about 2:22 i noticed the Emperor had sisters of silence all around. How much of a psychic chungus monster do you have to be to not only tolerate a single blank, but be surrounded by an army of them and revel in it. Absolute beefcake, i want his royal mindsponge for my own.
I love these videos. You speak about Vulkan exactly how I feel about him.
Dorns the fucking man
Robute: I am trying to create a list of all of the best fighters among Father's children...
Vulkan: Well, I give the best hugs.
Robute: I don't see how tha--
Vulkan, Angered: I gave my answer.
Very nice I enjoyed the reading and your chat, have subscribed, all the best Garry
Moments like this make the series more impactful, because they provide some contrast to all the grimdark. If it's always dark it can cease to have any meaning. Also, I bet Vulkan gives the best hugs.
Vulkan can never perish, because hope can never be truly lost.
If Vulkan ever joined chaos it would prove that the human spirit has no hope in 40k.
This is my first time coming across your channel and I love it!! Your story telling is fantastic. Great stuff. I just subbed
Absolute bloody ripper videos mate keep em comin
I love that I found your channel man! You’re a great narrator and I’ve been marathoning your vids!
Fantastic insight to vulkan always has been my favourite primarch because of those quality's u speak of.
Dorn: How do I know you are the real one?
Vulkan: Give me a hug you doffus
Dorn: damn. That's all you needed to say
Loved this, as true as it was when this video came out Vulkan or Dorn are desperately needed in today's imperium.
Hey Wolflord. Hey.
Hey Wolflord.
Heyyyyyyyyy....
Subscribed.
Dorn: I will always talk seriously to everyone with a stone face.
*Vulkan hugs*
Dorn: Expect him...
Mate, love your videos keep it up
going back for a re-watch of your old content friend! You should remind the Wolf Spear to do this :D
Custodi: ah Primarch Vulkan we have been waiting for you
Vulkan: It is good to be needed new shiny friend. Tell me how is dad boi doing?
Custodi: better in recent time..
Vulkan: I have heard that you have one of the nicest of names. It is not often you meet someone with such a calming name that of “ Kitten”. COME LET ME GIVE YOU HUG FOR SUCH DEVOTION TO DAD BOI
Kitten: No no no no no AHHHHHH MY BACK
magnus:oh. oh no.
mortarion:hey captain general-
kitten:just call me kitten its fine. yeah?

mortarion:you probably need a shower im guessing?
corvus:dear god yes.

Indeed, seeing the Horus Heresy come to life in a definitively excellent series of cinematics, a movie, television series/series equivalent would be excellent. However recent ventures in beloved past-time shows has proven... different, to say the least. The books are brilliant and should delight all warhammer fans as reading is a wonderful thing. Enjoy the books! Great vid! Which Horus Heresy book is this interaction from?
Vulkan is the best of humanity and the orcs. Hhahahaha *STOMP STOMP*
SOME OF DAT WAAAAAAGGGGHHH ENERGY!
Two great loyalist primarchs meeting. Really helps show why the loyalist primarchs, while each having their flaws, were able to not be dysfunctional and self-sabotaging like how the traitor primarchs tended to be. I’ve always believed the loyalist primarchs were the better ones of the whole lot.
The feels... it burns
And ofcourse Vulkan hugs him. It would be almost criminal for any story Vulkan is in for him not to hug at least 1 person.
Another reason why Dorn is awesome. He does not let sentimentalism from crushing his traitor "brothers". He does what needs to be done, period.
4:35 The Hug to end all Hugs
A buddy comedy starring Rogal Dorn and Vulkan is needed.
Corvus and Vulkan already did that. Bro Trip 40k
You want art? I shall deliver!!
I am being real, which of these scenarios would you like illustrated? The gunship conversation? Rogal and Vulkan parting ways?
Both, do Both
They can’t make A Warhammer 40K movie, it would have to be at least 6 movies. 3 of them being the heresy and 3 of them being the aftermath up to current lore. It could never be just “A” movie. Funny I was writing this as you said something about a movie. I love that. Great vids wolfLord. Great vids my friend
Talk about opposites...Dorn is so stoic and Vulkan is open and friendly.
I love your vids Wolf Lord my mate.as ive sed many times before i am so on the same page wen it comes to the humanity or the primarchs and the emperor.keep up the amazing content and i wil keep spreading the wotd amonhst thr fans about how amazing your channel truly is ❤👏👏👏👏
TTS Vulkan may be what Vulkan really is....a fun hapy jolly Primarch!
Love your videos mate haha always depresses me when I hear that I haven't read the book and have to turn off can you do a few vids from the the early ones. Some great interactions with horus and magnus in the first few books
I imagine Vulkan gives the best hugs.
I think that Vulkan is extremely important to his brothers. Clearly Dorn needed this meeting. Could be why the Emperor sent Dorn to greet his brother rather than Jaghatai or Malcador or just Custodes
Vulkan may not be the best or biggest but by the emperor he is the biggest Bro.
Dorn is the only person that likes being hugged by Vulkan.
Why? Because he sets up fortifications so the hugs don't hurt.
Only the fire of Vulkan could ever hope to melt the Ice in Dorns heart :)
Considering how Angron comforted his dying loyalist world eaters and covered a boy with blanket as he sleeps before the final battle of his rebellion in Nuceria, I think Vulcan and Angron would be best buddies if the butchers nails never been implanted in Angrons brain. Those two are the most human of primarchs.
