    With the gas the older early 2000 models 4 speed were not bad had some sluggish spots but no tune needed then 2014 up 6 speed better on dead spots but real clunky at some times especially with the 4.3 v6 but after a trans tune the 6 speed is great very smooth and makes the 4.3 run great.

    I just traded in my 2019 GMC 2500 Denali for a 2021 2500 Denali. The biggest difference I've noticed between the two, both stock, is how much quieter the cab is when driving. Also the 2021 model year sits higher than my 2019. The 10 speed also has smoother shifting than the 2019 model year.

      @@haddonsmith345 so far so good (5300 miles so far on the 2021). My old 2019 got better MPG by at least 2 MPG. The weakest part of the truck is the multi-pro tale gate. The top portion can't hold near as much weight I think ~300lbs so I have to be cognizant of that when loading stuff into the bed.

  • @koltonpassey

    My work provided me a 2020 2500 HD with a toolbox bed though it is a gas pickup. My thoughts on this truck were super skeptical coming from an F250 as a work truck with a toolbox bed. From 0-27,000 miles later (new pickup off the lot) in the last 6 months and I love this pickup. I am 6'2 and I put rock sliders or steps on the side to get in and out because this truck is just tall enough where getting in and out was awkward. However now I am looking at this pickup as a personal vehicle. I've been in a newer dodge and a newer F250 and for me, I prefer this pickup over the others and so does my family.

    • @ry9756
      @ry9756 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Mike The Bike No, Allison was a commercial transmission maker, the famous Allison 1000 was fitted into many different applications from school buses to farming equipment. That same transmission was put into the first duramax’s and carried on with the Allison 2000, which was fairly similar to the 1000. After that it became purely a branding deal. The first Duramax’s where basically an Isuzu engine fitted with an Allison 1000, as GM desperately needed to compete against the RAM and Powerstroke. They barely made any money off those first generation diesels, but put together a very solid platform, minus a few things of course. The new transmission has nothing to do with continuing and incrementally refining the Allison 1000-2000 line. Luckily Isuzu still makes the engines, hopefully that doesn’t change.

      RPO 9L7 upfitter switches. The problem with them is only the switches themselves are installed at the factory, the rest of the parts come in a bag and you have to IKEA them in.

    • @thoroughbreddiesel
      @thoroughbreddiesel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The 10 speeds in these trucks area Allison branded. They are built at a Chevrolet plant and the design and testing procedures were a combined effort between GM and Allison, hence the Allison brand. The Ford 10 speed in the Superdutys Is not the same 10 speed that Ford and GM jointly designed for the ½ ton applications.

    I've been looking between a 20/21 chevy 2500, and a ram 2500. However from my understanding the ram as a 2300+ lbs payload, and the chevy has a 3600-3800 lbs payload if I'm correct. Also chevy has a tow rating of 18k+ lbs, and ram a 19+ tow rating. So why rams payload so low with such a high tow rating? Makes no sense to me an has made me to start considering a 3500 swb ram, and a 2500 to 3500 chevy. Tho tbh I'm looking to tow a 9k 5th wheel, and trying to decision which is going to be the better bang for your buck especially for mpg an longevity. I'll also not im a fan boy of both brands tbh so no bias their, but the only one I dislike an refuse to buy is a ford 🤮.

      My dad owns a new Cummins I drive it a lot my brother has a brand new duramax I’ve driven a few times and my work vehicle is a 2020 f350 srw after using and towing with them all hands down the Ford is twice the truck better power better brakes bye far and definitely the most comfortable. Everything under that truck is just built bigger and beefier tie rods , calipers, drive shafts, frame, body mounts. If you’re going to spend 50 grand at least go drive one.

    • @stormbreaker3027

      @@crisjr6478 thing is cris the problem i have with ford is what does it have going for it? Ram has cummins, chevy had allison an I say had since its branded an im not exactly sure the details nor what it translates to, but what does ford have going for it? The f-450 i guess? The 6.7 tbh id rather have the duramax over since it's hands down more reliable, and the cummins I'd prefer over them all. However I do like the reliability of the allison, and the aisin transmission is up their too. So not to rag on ford since I respect the 7.3's I just doing see what ford has going for it 🤷no selling points imo.

    Trucks today are made for city farmers!, with the price they demand, over 500 sensors and all the bells and whistles that a truck doesent need including a payment of just under a thousand a month!, piss on that!, I have a power stroke and a duramax and stock they cant get thru the mud they just sink!. I just purchased a 71 f250 4x4 high boy 4 speed! It's in great shape going to finish the resto the owners started and will be driven daily and used to pull gravity wagons full of grain!, this truck is a workhorse and will get through the mud!. And I have an 8 foot bed to pull a fifth wheel a 6 foot bed is too short to mount your hitch at the center of gravity!. This truck is fifty years old and the transfer case is in perfect shape!, it's all gears and know chain!. Have a good day!.
