    This is the go-to place for Pixel enthusiasm and news. And you are the go-to guy! Happy birthday and keep grinding! I really appreciate your input and expertise on Pixels and smartphones in general. I'm only about a year in with Pixel phones. Had the 4a5g before I got the Pixel 6. These phones are good and the software is excellent! I hate this is happening to Google and all the folks who are having problems with their Pixel phones. I hope everything gets ironed out and this doesn't hurt Google too bad, in the long run. Thanks again, Adam! And Happy birthday 🎂😎

    For the most part my Pixel 6 Pro has been pretty solid. That being said I totally agree with you that Google did a spectacular job on keeping us in the dark and I really hope that they learn from this mistake and don't repeat it.

    I'm really loving my Pixel 6 now that the connection issues have been resolved. The only intermittent issue that really annoys me is ambient display not responding to touch sometimes when I take the phone out of my pocket or off the pixel stand. (I have lift to check phone turned off and tap to check phone turned on). When the bug occurs, I'll touch the fingerprint scanner on ambient display and nothing happens. Double tapping the screen does nothing either. You have to click the power button to wake up the screen and then it works. Restarting the phone seems to prevent it from happen again for a while. It seems to happen after using the pixel stand.

    Your videos on the Pixel and the January update gave the information I needed to make an informed decision. Just ordered an unlocked Pixel 6 yesterday. Do I expect connectivity issues? No. Do I expect it to be perfect in every way? No. Software is a very complicated beast, and not just on phones.

    I want to congratulate you on your objective and fair videos. I have a Pixel 6 Pro unlocked brought directly from Google and used on the T-Mobile network. I haven't noticed any major problems with my phone. Yes the fingerprint sensor was problematic at first. I registered both my thumbs twice and helped minimize the problem. The January also improved the fingerprint sensitivity. Other than that I love this phone and keep it in a clear case by Ghosttek so as not to hide the great design of this phone. I'm not as tech savvy as yourself or MKBHD so there might be some situations that escape me but nothing that has impeded my usage of this phone and I use it for everything.

      I set my S9+ at 720 if I remember correctly due to playing games and I need the screen display to be fast and save battery. I really don't care for 1440...720 look ok to me just fine. I don't use too much camera. Pictures look good. I set my frame to 60hz to save battery. It really doesn't matter to me. Set everything to bare minimum. 🤷

    People are too entitled to complain about everything. If you have too much time to look for problems on a phone then you really need a real job, hobby,or something to keep you occupied. If your phone can't make calls and all the obvious things you need your phone for then I get it. Don't complain about every little thing. I have a pixel 6 pro and I love this phone. I have not had any issues.

    Another great vid covering the Pixel 6 from Tech Odyssey. Thanks for keeping everyone up to date. For my Pixel 6, the January update squashed almost all the bugs I've had. Still have the green tint to the screen at low brightness levels on a dark background, but it's barely noticeable and definitely not worth worrying about.
    Battery performance after a few days under the January update has seen a modest improvement - I can have 5G on all day and make it to bedtime with 10-15% battery left on moderate to heavy use days.

    One thing to note is that in general on the internet you tend to hear a lot more from people who have issues, than from people who don't. This gives the appearance of a majority of people having issues when in fact its almost always a vocal minority.

I've had a number of Galaxy phones now in a row, currently using a Note9 (honestly this phone has been terrible with tons of issues). I would like to go with a Pixel 6 Pro next and am curious how those that switched from Galaxy phones like it.

      @@LetsDIYIt I actually love the experience of using the Pixel phone . Don't get me wrong I'm still a fan of the Galaxy s series , but with the Pixel there is no bloatware and I like that. Also, The camera is phenomenal. That's another thing that I like about the Pixel. I think I'm going to hang on to the Pixel for a while . The P7 sounds like it's going to be a amazing phone as well whenever it does come out , but I'll just hang on to the 6 for now since there is a guaranteed 5-year security update.

    I appreciate anyone that can give great, unbiased opinions and reviews. I admit, I am a bit worried about this phone, as it is the one I've focused on for my next phone. I store a decent amount locally on my phone so I want the 512GB, which limits me to the pro, which is not available anywhere at the moment. Hoping they fix more issues before it becomes available. I am bummed as I do NOT want another huge phone (coming from a Note9 which is smaller than it). Still, it has the features and I do hobby photography and like having a good camera on me all the time, to go along with my dslr. It seems like a great device with software issues, fingers crossed it all gets ironed out. Lastly, I really wish they would still offer card slots for expanded memory. It's increasingly frustrating how much these companies take features away in the name of "improvement" when it's all about forcing you to use their services they charge for.

    @IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII258 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The most annoying thing about the phone? The people who defend it at all costs who didn't have issues, attacking those who do as though we're a political enemy or something. I personally find it hilarious for people who are barely 3 phones deep into Android who downplay the legitimate concerns. I had a Gmail account (back during invite only beta) before many of them were born. I've stuck with Google through Glass, Reader's death, Google+ privacy breach, and their wifi scanning fiasco. And they wanna come at people like us and say we're just anti-Google? If they think all of Google = a phone, they're not a real fan of the coding work done by them, never was, never will be. And this Hyper-fanboyism is why Apple got away with waiting years to add copy/paste, and they get hoisted on shoulders for something that was crap to leave out. If you can't hold a company accountable when they screw up, they learn they can sell you short for years. BTW, hows that USB-C charger coming, Apple hyper-fans? Why would anyone want to immitate that, Google fans? Why?

    People have to understand that a lot of technology is rushed due to demand. Problems occur with every bit of technology. A lot of things we ignore but if we are to do a full scale experience we have to be honest about everything about the product. You're doing a good job. Keep up the good work. Also we can't forget that Google can push many things out, they're in control of this chip and OS. It's the very first version of this tensor chip. Corrections can be made. Maybe not to the hardware but let's be honest, no one thinks it's the hardware.

    I don't get why some people are blindly defending these corporations while they are screwing them.
    I like Samsung devices but they are similar to other corporations crooks who don't give a damn to me. They just want my money and when I need their customer service, they just show the middle finger. Instead, people should start filing class action lawsuits. Why paying for something which isn't working right and not being fixed. I'm a chevy fan, but I'm so happy to see a very hefty class action lawsuit is going after them. They screwed up millions with faulty lifters.
    We all as consumers should do this to any of these corporations.

I must say, I'm glad that I wasn't put off by some of the negative reviews, the Pixel really is a great phone & has a lot of tricks up its sleeves, its lighter than the iPhone too which surprises me with its enormity, but so far, I'm really, really impressed ! I get it! When you plunk down hard earned cash you have certain expectations. The more you spend the bigger the expectations and for some people that gap is too wide to make the decision to leap into a device you won't ultimately be happy with. That said, if Google is able to successfully squash the annoying bugs perhaps they will once again win your heart over.

    On my P6 the drop call problem was fixed by turning off WiFi Calling and the messages not been delivered by turning off RCS back to regular SMS. Because my contacts don't have RCS so technically not a bug. Hope it helps if anyone is having the same issue.✌️

    The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are awesome phones, Google on the other hand has changed, if you want a replacement unit you get 1 and if that is faulty too you are out of luck, and that is not the bad part, the bad part is pushing out a product that is not ready, we as the customers are testers right now, another bad thing is if you aint in the 15 countries that Google like you will not get LTE+ VoLTE VoWifi or 5g without root and editing of firmware files, which to now is not know yet how to do on 6 and 6 Pro (5g that is, the other stuff you can get)
    I am trying to sell my phone and it is hard as people dont want a 4g only phone at this price, they want 50% discount cause of no 5g.

    Good points, but concerning quality control: Most of the time it's not the people actually doing the work (designers, engineers, developers, quality control) that rush things out. Most of the time, it's being pushed from the top (C-level executives to directors to managers) to hit arbitrary launch dates. They see the engineering and quality control teams as being too cautious, and often times they are. If they do their job well, like a good coach, they push their teams to achieve the most in the least amount of time without stressing them to the point of demotivation, burnout, disgruntlement, or toxicity. I have never worked for Google, or any tech giant, but I have been in the tech industry for over 20 years and have seen both sides of this balance. Largely, the Pixel 6 is a success. At least they aren't exploding like Samsung phones 5 years ago. Now, that is a CRITICAL ISSUE.

    • @TechOdyssey
      @TechOdyssey  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a critical issue and it was also pulled from the market and responded to very quickly, and had to do with the battery's. This is an inherent risk in battery power technology and only actually affected a small number of phones, probably the single digits before it was pulled. Everyone likes to jump on this wagon with whataboutism do justify how a different phone company is less liable or "not as bad" as it is.

  • @CapturedByKen

    I agree with everything in this video
    People have a hard time separating the Company from the actual Device. The phones are amazing but Google themselves kinda dropped the ball with their own products. Alot of viewers have very selective hearing when it comes to tech news.

    I just ordered my Pixel 6 to replace my LG G6 which is almost six years old. I'm not a gamer, or selfie person, I wanted a solid phone that wasn't Apple or Samsung, I guess you can say I'm not following the big guys and their fan base. I started looking into online reviews of what will be best for my situation and found the Pixel. Reviews - I've watched a lot of them - read a lot of them and, for me a non-techy person this phone looked like what I wanted. Nothing is perfect, Apple and Samsung isn't perfect, they really aren't. I don't read the troll hate reviews, they mean nothing. I read the pros and cons that are honest and not slamming the product or the reviewers. I know what I want/need and I don't have to spend thousands of dollars to get it. I'm excited to get my mint green Pixel 6. Will there be a learning curve, I'm sure there will be, but because of folks like you Adam and your honest reviews I'm sure I'll get through it. Thanks and Boo to the trolls. Happy Birthday.
