Hey, what i think would be helpful is to immerse the phone in water for 20 - 30 mins before the teardown. It would be helpful to test the water protection and the indicators inside.
Well it won't be a proper test this, cos after he does the bend test, the water resistance of the phone can be reduced so it won't be s true reflection of the phones water resistance. Maybe he can include it in his durability test videos before he does the bend test.
@@resp86I think it could work if he dunked the phone while it was powered off, let it sit a few days to ensure it dried completely before powering back on, then made the videos as normal.
While this video's still fresh, PLEASE do a durability test of the base Pixel 6. The build materials are very different all around, with matte sides and Gorilla Glass 6 on the back instead of GG Victus on the 6 Pro.

wow! Just bought a Pixel 6 Pro, so nice to see what it looks l like on the inside, what a great video! I've subscribed! I can't wait to view all of your other videos
The tiredness I am sensing in your voice reminds me of the first months of when my children was born and after a sleepless night I had to go to work!:)
This is really good news! I was a derp and put my work phone (iPhone 13) in my pocket with my Pixel, and the iPhone body seems to have scratched the screen up a bit... If it ever gets any worse, at least it won't be a complete headache to get it same-day repaired!
Temper your expectations. I got the 6 and while it has some cool features that come because of Google Tensor, it also excludes things that I've become accustomed to from my S21 Ultra, and it has some aggravating flaws. I sent it back. Maybe the next generation of Google Tensor phones will be better. This one could still be really good if they address the issues.
Me, finding this video two years later, impressed and glad I bought the Pixel 6 Pro after all. Thankfully I didn't have to repair it just yet, as a seasoned smartphone surgeon this looks like a breeze though!
I'm surprised he didn't mention that the screen is also held down by clips alongside adhesive, so if you don't care about water resistance you can still reattach the screen.
Great Video. Thank you so much! I dropped my Google Pixel 6 Pro and cracked the screen a couple of days ago. 😬 Someone told me they heard it was a hard repair- so I am so glad to hear that it's not.
You end up doing it yourself? My 6 dropped and I guess (?) The screen started leaking purple underneath lol. Assuming I just need to grab an oled screen online to repair it? Looks incredibly simple
Wouldn't it have made more sense to put the cameras in order of their focal length to minimize parallax shift when switching from one to the next while zooming in or out?
Maybe they placed these cameras based on available space. You really don't see which lens is in use while taking pictures unless you block the specific lens intentionally. It's all software driven, so parallax shift isn't caused by the placement of the lens/sensor?
@@cashreedhar parallax is most definitely caused by the placement of the sensors. It's akin to the different angles you see when you cover one eye and then the other and the further apart your eyes the more the shift.
You've most likely severely impacted wireless charging. That "graphite" - most likely actually ferrite - is very critical to screen for the high frequency alternating magnetic field. Without it metal plates will take the energy and it'll be wasted as heat. I played with an add on Qi charger (taking up phones USB port). Those has regular ferrite plates in them (most likely broken in a few pieces - that doesn't severely impact performance). Place a metal plate behind them on a qi charger and all is fine. Take apart the usb add on and take out the ferrite plate and "suddenly" when you place a metal object behind the coil when on the charger you'll notice that the metal object heats up noticeably and fast. Essentially what is happening in you induction cook top. The ferrite plate shields high frequency magnetic fields while not absorbing a high amount as waste energy.
Yeah, I think he's aware he's not supposed to scratch that, but he wants to show us what it looks like on the inside. Remember everytime he would cut open a copper vapor chamber?
I had previously noticed this phone having a decent awareness on repairability hence why this was my choice out of 3. Turns out it was a good call after having a screen issue when it decided to fall out my pocket taking my trousers off (keep your minds clean) and had an easy self repair. Really happy with not only this model but their direction and will continue to support
the only thing about this is the usb port not being able to be replaced easily. that being said, I've never had a USB C or micro port go bad on me, so I'm not too worried. My P6 comes tommorow! I'm excited to use the camera and NOT do durability testing on it.

Very good move from Google. Hope we see this on other brand phones in the next years (probably not happening, but it would be fairer for the consumer with making a repair affordable and ecological and not throwing the whole thing away to buy a new one)
I was wondering why the screen felt hollow. Now I know it seems like the screen is only attached on the sides and in the middle of it doesn't touch anything. I know this helps with the sound because the sound as it resonates through the open air area of the body. Since the screen doesn't seem to be touching anything except on the sides, I wonder if that helps with its ability to resist cracks and brakes?
