Amid the rush of iPhone 16 videos coming out this morning it is SO refreshing to get the notification that your vid on the P9P is out. I'm heavily looking into this phone actually now. Great vid!
So there’s a funny story about the screen protector. I actually recorded a review that was 15 minutes long before I recorded this review, but there was a problem so I had to scrap it and re-record everything however, in the last video, I explained that I’m actually using an iPhone 15 Pro screen protector on the phone because I ordered a pixel nine Pro screen protector but I messed up and I ordered the pro XL so in an effort to protect my screen while I was waiting for the new screen protector, I just put the iPhone 15 Pro screen protector on it, which is why it looks all screwy
@@TechOdyssey Thanks for explaining that because I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing people walk around with screen protectors installed that way. Good to know it's only temporary!
Best Pixel since the 4XL. I've been really happy with mine. Made the choice to move from 15PM as the iPhones still didn't upgrade the cameras enough this year to match the pixels setup and wanted a smaller phone without compromise on cameras. Never game on my phone.
I had/ have the standard pixel 4. Great phone, just let down a bit by a fairly poor battery. I'm sure the XL was even better 😊 additional note, it still runs like a dream as one of my backup devices
@@Matken00 pixel 5 was a budget handset. It definitely ticked some boxes in terms on battery life but it was an inferior product in every way to the 4 and 4XL. You are definitely right when you mention that most people don’t do hardcore gaming on their phones so they wouldn’t necessarily push the phone to its max performance anyway but in terms of longevity I am concerned about the lack of raw performance with the G4. I highly doubt it’ll be performing well in 4 years time let alone 7 years. I also do personally game on my phone with graphics settings maxed out so the 9 series is a no off the jump for me.

For years I had been getting the Pixel with the top storage. Then it finally hit me two years ago that at no point have I ever used more than 50% of my onboard storage. So 128 works just fine for me especially if I'm saving a few bucks.

Well, this review finally pushed me over the edge. Just ordered a Pixel 9 Pro in 512 GB size and will be trading in my Pixel 7 Pro. I've been thinking about getting a new phone, and was looking at both the OnePlus 12 and Z-Flip 6. I really wanted something smaller though, and I was nervous about the durability of foldables at this point. I also wanted to get something with more storage than my Pixel 7 Pro, as that has 256 GB and I'm pretty close to filling that up (store all my music on the phone locally). The Pixel 9 Pro should solve meet all those requirements while still allowing me to keep the Pixel software experience, which I love (Call Screening, especially). Looking forward to getting it!

On days where I'm trying to be on my phone more, my smaller 9 Pro gets 8 - 9 hours SoT easy. On a lighter day where I have to work and I'm not on my phone much, I end my night with about 5 1/2 hours of SoT with 30% or so left after being off the charger for 15 hours. Really loving this phone! I think the only notable downgrade vs my 8 Pro is that the speakers aren't as full (kind of makes sense due the smaller chassis) and the ultrawide is just a lil worse. I made sure to do a lot of testing across multiple scenarios and I don't think the ultrawide on the 9 Pro is bad, it's just a tad below what I've been able to get on my 8 Pro. I do believe this is attributed to them using a smaller and technically inferior ultrawide sensor this year (you can look at the phones side by side and see the physical differences) but it's not something so major that I'm letting it ruin the upgrade. The selfie camera has been a great upgrade, and generally everything else has been a nice step up!
@@NathanAdmiraal I definitely think it can be nuanced and can depend from scenario to scenario. Coming from a Galaxy s23 Ultra I have been looking at Pixel phones for the past year and I found myself looking at the Pixel 9 Pro out of the four new Pixel phones. Dont want a brick in my pocket, want to be able to get top tier performance and not have to sacrifice much, able to handle with one hand wouldbe nice, and just to try something new at a cheaper price would be nice!
I just got my Pixel 9 Pro (porcelain) last Friday and LOVE it! I traded my P8pro (paid $750 for) in for $699. What a deal. This Pixel 9 pro screams quality.
I've been using the S24+ since launch and I'm usually a Pixel user. I think either I'll wait till the Pixel 9 Pro gets cheaper and trade in or wait till Pixel 10 Pro bc I'm missing the "vanilla" Android experience.
Great video Bro, i can't wait to get mine soon. I Traded my Pixel 8 Pro through Google got $699 for it and $200 bucks credit as well to buy more stuff 🤣 great trade value
Fell in love with the pixel 6 because of your videos. Not getting douped again. What a lemon: Tensor was terrible, reception awful, bad battery life and a host of headaches. I'll wait till the 9 has been out a while. If it's stable maybe I'll pull the trigger on the 10.
Upgrading to 9 Pro from 6. I passed on the 6 Pro because I wanted a smaller Phone. If the Pro was only available in the XL model, I would have passed. I also would have paid the same price as the XL for the smaller version. I suspect Google will find there are a lot more people willing to pay for a smaller flagship in the Android world than they thought. I suspect the next Pro version will be priced the same and a larger, non Pro XL version with a few extra features for the Pixel 10.
I upgraded from my Pixel 6 to the Pixel 9 Pro XL, luckily I got a good deal for a 256gb. Extremely happy, so many features and after watching your video, happy with my choice. Thank as always 🙌🙌🙌
I pre ordered mine and got the 256 storage as a free upgrade and £243 off the price by trading in my old pixel 2. Great value. I was out with my cousin the other day who had an older iPhone and he could not believe the photos I was getting from it. Definitely a big upgrade from my old pixel 5.
The face unlock for secured apps really is a game changer. It really is the best thing Apple has going on for them and I'm happy it's finally on the pixel. I'm sure Samsung will follow soon
Something interesting that i found out from having this phone for a week now that most reviewers are definitely not talking about, is that under the display option, there are two screen resolution types. The phone is set up out the box under high resolution 960-1242p that comes out to 378ppi. I assume most havent noticed this and that explains why they are getting beyond good battery life. I have yet to try it under full resolution to see what impact it will have on battery life. This is my second google pixel phone, I had the 7 256gb for about 6 months before i sold it. The battery drain was excessive and it didnt last past 6 pm. It appears the new exynos modem has done wonders with battery drain on the pixel 9 series. Im not seeing the same level of battery drain. There is a glitch that happens when you restart the phone with the battery percentage, it wont be accurate and will show around 8-10% less than what it actually is. Besides that, its been a great experience for me coming from a iphone 15 plus. I wanted a smaller phone factor that provided excellent battery life, performance, and awesome photography.
I've also been looking at Moto Edge S50 Neo. Looks affordable and compact. Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 (there's also a version with Dimensity 7300),12 GB/512GB only costs around $300. Sounds intriguing 🙂
That seems like a great phone for the price. I believe it gets 5 years of updates too, albeit they might be a bit slower coming out. I've been contemplating buying this phone , simply because I don't want to pay too much for a phone now ( on principle)😊
Pixels have one big problem now, it's their resale value which I don't think will improve soon. Anyway if you don't care about the resale value, Google has surely come a long way
Pixel 9 Pro XLs for $600 all over ebay and FB marketplace lol. It really is just people trading and reselling but hey it benefits anyone who waited 1 more month to cop a P9P! More Pixel owners is always a win
I love my Pixel 9 Pro XL. My only complaint about the pixel series is the look at the wifi/cellular service icon. I hate how they look and turning wifi off/on requires too many steps. Besides that the phone is great
Adam! Sup man, you know I really gush over the 9pro I'm definitely have to wait till December for more those price cuts but I guess wouldn't hurt to get the standard P9 ...for now 😎
@@TechOdyssey it's more so the updated modem and heat vapor chamber for me and well as the hardware, I'll be waiting for your monthly review on all 3 for sure
All the flagship devices released this year so good I could make the case for any besting the others. We're at a time it's hard to get a disappointing flagship device. Let them steal, borrow, copy from each other. It's a win for everyone
I liked some aspects of my pixel 8 pro back when I was on android, but the bugs and unreliability of the pixel phones I had coupled with the weak mid-tier processors drove me away. The voice to text is just lovely on pixel phones, and I miss it greatly! why cant apple focus on it already ?!
You don’t actually think they expect people to pay for AI after a year do you? That’s just set up as an enticement to trade in your phone for a new one after year one
Great video 👍👍 só after some time with the P9 pro you still think if you have a P8 pro you can skip the 9 or after use the 9 its a massive difference?? Again tks for the vídeo and keep the great work 😁💪👍
I'm debating about trading up from my P7. Its an ok phone but I just get frustrated when it loses bluetooth connectivity with my devices including my car repeatedly and also I always have to leave on the Battery Saver mode for it to last most of the day. Definitely want to go up to the pro regular size.
I have just upgraded to a Pixel 9 Pro XL and it feels a lot more comfortable compared to the Pixel 8 Pro , the XL has a bigger battery and faster charging
I traded in my Samsung Galaxy Note + 10-5G With Verizon & got a 1K trade in credit. Picked up the Google pixel 9Pro XL 512 for 300 dollars.. 1K Trade in credit for a 5 year old phone that's definitely a win. I won't mind having my Google Pixel 9Pro XL for 3 years before I get a new phone.
I think this is my favourite phone. 🤔 An improvement id like to see, even though theres satisfactory 3d facial recognition. Id like to see an off centre invisible under the screen 2nd camera. For a apple 3d security facial recognition. Under screen cameras are poor quality, but a secondary invisible one would be great for only this purpose of clear seperation of 3d recognition. The wider the better. And would look identical as its invisible.
It would be cool to see Samsung make a smaller version of their Ultra, I think they could sell a 6.3 Pro phone without the stylus or if they decide to keep it then the they can title the smaller one Ultra and the bigger size Ultra Plus, XL or Max.
@@marksouthwell4490 I was referring to the part in the video where he says he hopes Samsung joins Apple and Google in providing a smaller option for their best flagship phone.
I just purchased a s24 256gb and I'm worried I made a mistake. I've used Galaxy in the past so I am used to One UI. The final sticking point was that I desire the themes/customization that good lock provides. It seems from video's I've watched, the Pixel doesn't have that unless you use a launcher. Do you think this 9 pro is better than the S24 base?
Not that you asked me, but I personally love Samsung for the very reason you've just mentioned I. Also adore pixel phones. On face value, I believe that pixel 9 pro is a much better deal. It's like Adam said, gonna be phone of the year. But I understand the theming, and that's hard to give up.
I've had the base 23 and 24+. My office buddy has the base 24 and I think the P9Pro is better. Mine is more premium feeling than the Samsung. Better on battery too.
I've had my P9P for a week, and the battery isn't quite as good as I'd hoped. I traded my S23 Ultra for it, and even after almost a year, my S23 Ultra still had noticeably better battery. I seriously love pixels, so I hope maybe the adaptive battery is still working on efficiency? We'll see.
@@jaredj5ca500 The battery significantly improved. And still waste a little more battery than I would like while it's connected to wireless Android auto, but if you don't use it, it is an absolute beast.
Xiaomi 14 similiar size better performance and I dare to say it better cameras. Otherwise yeah as you don't get the Xiaomi 14 this is the next best thing in the US. Still sceptical of the Pixel 9 Pro as the Pixel 8 Pro is still experiencing micro stutters and I lost hope Google is able to fix it. Some other reviewers also mentioned the Pixel 9 Pro has the same issue even though its better than the initial Pixel 8 Pro experience. As for max brightness. How long can it hold this max brightness. If its just for a few minutes recording a video or taking videos outside in the sun its useless if it goes to under 700 nits then. I rather have a little more dim peak or max brightness if it then can hold to over 900 or even 1000 nits when I am recording a 5 minute or longer video clip in the sun.

Any problems with the haptics? I came from the p7 pro to the 9 pro XL. I had issues with the haptics not working on the pixel 7 pro. This issue has carried over to the nine pro XL. I am starting to think it is an OS problem, or probably an app that I have installed. When I restart the phone, the haptics works, but after a few minutes they quit. Any insight? Has anybody else reported this issue to you? I can't find anything on the net about it.
Nope. Haptics have been golden. That is troubling. If you’re troubleshooting isnt working or if a factory reset doesn’t fix it, you may need to do a warranty replacement.

Beautiful phone
For sure
Agreed 👍 I personally think it's the best looking device on the market thus far
Upgrading to 9 Pro from 6. I passed on the 6 Pro because I wanted a smaller Phone. If the Pro was only available in the XL model, I would have passed. I also would have paid the same price as the XL for the smaller version. I suspect Google will find there are a lot more people willing to pay for a smaller flagship in the Android world than they thought. I suspect the next Pro version will be priced the same and a larger, non Pro XL version with a few extra features for the Pixel 10.
Awesome review ❤️
Thank you 🤗
Appreciate these types of reviews. Straightforward facts. Thanks.
Glad you like them!
Great review! Loving my Pixel 9 Pro XL. Jump onboard ya'll the grass is much, much greener!!!!!!!!!!!
Have the pixel 9 XL and s24 ultra really impressed so far with it better then any iPhone
Great insight! Just wanted know what happened to your intro music ? Loved it - keep up the fantastic work!
I love the mini screen protector on the phone 3:14
Haha. Thanks
I have the 24 plus and love it.
I have an S22+ and I love it. I can only imagine how you're feeling with that battery life. 😂
I've also been looking at Moto Edge S50 Neo. Looks affordable and compact. Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 (there's also a version with Dimensity 7300),12 GB/512GB only costs around $300. Sounds intriguing 🙂
128GB does not support UFS 4 unfortunately if I remember correctly. Google really should have started with 256 GB 🙁
That seems like a great phone for the price. I believe it gets 5 years of updates too, albeit they might be a bit slower coming out. I've been contemplating buying this phone , simply because I don't want to pay too much for a phone now ( on principle)😊
@@marksouthwell4490 I'm waiting to see a camera review. The screen is definitely OLED because there is an in display scanner 🙂
@@Randomness662 yeah I know could be Google's strateg, more people with pixels the bigger the market
If you're talking resell to individuals, then no, but if you trade your device in Google, Apple and Samsug give decent trade-in value.
Whiz cells price is 400.00 now.
I love my Pixel 9 Pro XL. My only complaint about the pixel series is the look at the wifi/cellular service icon. I hate how they look and turning wifi off/on requires too many steps. Besides that the phone is great
Adam! Sup man, you know I really gush over the 9pro I'm definitely have to wait till December for more those price cuts but I guess wouldn't hurt to get the standard P9 ...for now 😎
I'm hoping we still get a black friday price cut!
I watch your videos daily cause you tell it like it is i like a big screen have the s24 plus would you trade that for the Pixel 9 Pro XL
Likely I wouldn’t trade because the phone skill sets are so similar. It’s hard to recommend a move like that unless you just really want to.
@TechOdyssey thanks been a Samsung user for year's like the OneUI but was just wondering
I'm in the same boat. But I'll stay with my s24 plus
@CruzJM i plan to have to say it is a great phone which really not to many talk about
The only thing stopping me is the pixel 10. Curious about tsmc. Also don’t “need” a phone right now.
Not needing a phone helps with waiting
I liked some aspects of my pixel 8 pro back when I was on android, but the bugs and unreliability of the pixel phones I had coupled with the weak mid-tier processors drove me away. The voice to text is just lovely on pixel phones, and I miss it greatly! why cant apple focus on it already ?!
They still need to fix the transitions from the each zoom lens. Zooming is not as smooth like the iPhones.
Upgraded from an iPhone 14 pro to the Pixel 9 pro xl. Besides like one or two things, I'm satisfied.
Great information, thanks
I'm enjoying my pro 9 so far
Me too
Great video. Do you know if this has the latest M14 screen panel like the 9 pro xl or the older M13 ?
My only gripe is the low speaker volume, if it was louder it would be the perfect device for me.
My 9 Pro volume is loud. Louder than 4a. My gripe is the weight.
Again tks for the vídeo and keep the great work 😁💪👍
Nice review, i also am really enjoying my p9 pro. Screen is too small for gaming anyways.
Are you reviewing the fold?
Trying out the 9 Pro as my main for a couple of weeks. 15 ProMax is my work phone. S24 Ultra is my usual main.
I'm debating about trading up from my P7. Its an ok phone but I just get frustrated when it loses bluetooth connectivity with my devices including my car repeatedly and also I always have to leave on the Battery Saver mode for it to last most of the day. Definitely want to go up to the pro regular size.
Still waiting for my P9P to get here.. got pushed back to the End of the month :( Upgrading from my iPhone 13
I have just upgraded to a Pixel 9 Pro XL and it feels a lot more comfortable compared to the Pixel 8 Pro , the XL has a bigger battery and faster charging
I traded in my Samsung Galaxy Note + 10-5G
With Verizon & got a 1K trade in credit.
Picked up the Google pixel 9Pro XL 512 for
300 dollars..
Isn't the S24 and 24+ a smaller version,🤔
@@marksouthwell4490 I was referring to the part in the video where he says he hopes Samsung joins Apple and Google in providing a smaller option for their best flagship phone.
566 usd for p9p in Sweden with a telephone subscription...Order it in the middle of August...Still waiting...Im on p7 now.
256 gb!
Nice!
What are your thoughts on the pro fold now after getting through the rest of the pixel line
Switching from a 15 Pro to this. Can’t wait. How much better is the battery life on this thing? I get 5 hours screen on time tops.
I traded my S24 plus for the 9 Pro. No regrets at all. I love this phone.
9 pro, call speaker quality is better than s24+? which one is clear for phone calls, ?
Wow. I don’t know if that was the right move.
Just curious, what made you want to trade in a phone that hasn't even been out a full year yet?
S24 charges twice as fast as the P9 Pro. 45w charging. And has a much brighter screen.
just waiting for android 15 to see if it is still flagship worthy
Hopefully so
Loved the p9pxl... but I apparently have sensitivity to lower PWM... kept getting headaches and eye strain with the phone.
I have the 9 pro xl and its great but I'm having problems with the fingerprint sensor in low light, apart from that I love the phone
Great video..
How is it in comparison to the s24 ultra?
I'm not a gamer... just pictures, TH-cam and netflix
How was the battery compared to the XL? I got the XL for the same price as the pro through T-Mobile. But now I wish I had the smaller form factor.
I feel like I get about an hour to an hour and a half more screen on time.
Pixel 9 series and S24 are just fine . I wouldn't be disappointed with either 😊
@@katinasoutherland7693 Thank you so much.
@@krskadave Interesting. Thank you.
We'll see.
Any update? :)
@@jaredj5ca500 The battery significantly improved. And still waste a little more battery than I would like while it's connected to wireless Android auto, but if you don't use it, it is an absolute beast.
TechOdyssey reviews skyrocketing above the rest. Thank you.
Here’s to hoping! lol
Great points have to agree with you. The Xiaomi 14 is a great phone. Love your videos Dude especially the latest Vivo X100 Pro Vs X100 Ultra
Will you be doing a review on the regular pixel 9
Yup. Switching to it now. Kinda hard to review all three at once. Sadly im but one man.
@TechOdyssey 👍
Any chance you can do a comparison vid on the Google 30 watt charger vs the Google 45 watt charger?
That's a good idea 💡 I hope he adds it to a video or does a short.
Great vid. Did you find a huge difference in photos from Pixel 9 pro to Xperia 1 VI?
Should be cool that Sony produce a flip or fold phone with all sony xperia 1 vi features!
Yeah. That would be cool
@@TechOdyssey i ask you this : iam looking to upgrade for a new phone iam hesitating between Sony xperia 1 vi and motorola razr 50 ultra. Which one should i buy?
Where you can get a pro phone in this package? It doesn’t exist? How about Galaxy S24?
Well only the Plus model but still that's a big phone compared to the Pixel 9 Pro
Do you also review the Chinese brand phones?
Sometimes. I recently reviewed the Honor Magic V3
@@TechOdyssey cool I’ll watch that too - I ask because I think that’s gonna be the way out of Apple products eventually if they are allowed to compete globally in future
The reason it looks this impressive is cause they watched your tech reviews and sat and really listen Adam. But you know how folks are they are always about numbers. It's like sports right a team can look so good on paper and perform like garbage out on the field. Same goes for your tech devices. I love how you say it's an all around banger...So thanks as always and we'll see YOU 🫵🏼 on the next one
The pixel was going to be my next phone as I am switching from iPhone but I decided to go for the s24 ultra .Nothing against the pixel but I have been starved of customisation for years and the ultra just offers me more at this time . The pixel looks a fantastic phone though . Android has really grown up !
I still use my pixel 6. I wasn't exited about the 7 or 8 series, or even the 9 until I saw this Pixel 9 pro. But I e been holding our for the Tensor 5 but I'm worried the Good Le will stop making the pro model. I don't like big phones. Should I go for the Pixel 9 Pro or wraith for the Pixel 10?
@@TechOdyssey I just find it strange that the problem carried over from the 7 to the 9. Same issue with both phones, weird.
@@matthewstone1069 could be a carryover bug from your previous phone. I would recommend a factory reset and set it up like brand new. Dont restore. Will probably fix your issue
@@TechOdyssey thank you for the insight! I love you work btw, keep it up!
@@matthewstone1069 sure thing. I hope it helps. And thank you. I appreciate the support!
Had the Pixel 3A loved it then the Pixel 6A worst phone bad radio just crap now got Pixel 9 pro 256gb looks like staying with this one
