    Sounds like the camera is doing exactly what I want for a digital photograph: capturing the maximum amount of information. Can always adjust contrast, saturation, white/black points, etc. in post, which is the beauty of digital. Obviously, for people who like to take a shot and be done, I can see prioritizing other things, but for my work flow that low contrast-high information density output is a perfect starting point for great pictures. Any of those Pixel shots could be easily manipulated to look like the iPhone shot, while the reverse is not true.

    • @harounben342

    • @andrewprasanna9323

      But the Pixel looks a bit too sharp and has too much clarity. Idk how you can fix that in post.

    • @recurrenTopology
      @recurrenTopology 3 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      @@andrewprasanna9323 Depends on what you mean by those terms, but if by sharpness you mean acutance, that can certainly be changed in post (both increased and decreased). If by clarity you mean local contrast, that too can be adjusted in post. However, the details which you are contrasting were either caught in the image or they were not. If you have captured details, you can always soften or blur an image such that those details are no longer visible. If you didn't capture something in the first place, no amount of post processing can manifest it.

      I just wish they provided an option to disable the hdr. The amount of details in the darks is just too much. Night sky is too bright with the amount of processing this phone does. It's just not natural looking or feeling. Having the ability to disable hdr would make this phone amazing.

    Given how super easy it is to edit photos with Google Photos or other apps, I'm surprised how many reviewers mention things like the Pixel 6's photo contrast doesn't look as good as the iPhone. You can tweak that in like a second, hell half the time the auto-process makes the photo look perfect for Insta or whatever with just a single click. I'd rather have clarity and colour accuracy, because those things are harder to fix in post.

      The new sensor seems to require more data to build their machine learning models. If it's company that can pull it off, it's Google (Looking at SONY).
      SONY's bigger MP sensors didn't have the ability to process the image in the way users liked and loved.

      Be wary, because these reviewers are reviewing the phones in cities with extremely high frequency antennas and are not even seeing the flaws of the modem of the Pixel 6. The Pixel 6's modem is so FUBAR that you will struggle to get above 10MIB/s outside of major metropolitan areas. I tested this on Pixel 6 and Pro, disabling 5G, then LTE, then 3G. All 1 bar, the worst result I have ever gotten on a smartphone ever. The worst speed test I have ever had, INSIDE MY OWN HOME next to the window.
      This is on AT&T and Verizon. Both. I have never had a phone perform this poorly before, period. I had sub 100 dollar phones from almost 10 years ago have a better modem than the Pixel 6's modem.
      I hope everyone that pushed people to buy this phone that was aware of the Pixel 6's modem's ABSOLUTE FAILURE gets eaten alive by insects. I've wasted $200 from these reviewers pumping up the phone saying it's god's own son yet they don't even mention how fucking shit the modem turns your nice phone into a useless brick outside of a major metropolitan zone. That's $200 from the TWO restock fees for returning the Pixel 6 and Pro, and the 2 screen protectors, and the 2 cases. I lost $200 for fucking nothing.

    I like the clarity of the Pixel photos. As long as what I'm taking a photo of is well represented, I'm happy. There doesn't need to be a specific amount of blur, clarity, brightness, or darkness. Google's done a good job with some of the new features. I'm looking forward to the Motion Mode along with the better skin tone processing. Photography is an art and the desired look will be different to each person. What's ironic is when people talk about natural looking photos and they use PhotoShop on all their photos.

      And that’s ok if the camera isn’t the reason you are buying a phone. But for some of us we want the best camera, we will never get a chance to retake a better picture from the past.

    • @benjmiester
      @benjmiester 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      I have to agree. What's funny is when you see blind photo tests and a certain "king of cameras" NEVER wins or even comes close.... Because people love to say they want one thing but their eyes and brain want another. I suspect it's not even entirely just about that though, it's more about them saying they want whatever their pre-selected choice offers. Forget what actually looks better. Case in point the aforementioned "King of cameras" is taking very Pixel looking pictures with super heavy contrast and heavier color saturation. You know.... The very things they spent years saying they didn't want in a picture. Now it's better suddenly when their brand is doing it 🙄

    • @S7ARBOY
      @S7ARBOY 3 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      @@Zeeangelofdeath if that's your concern that's exactly why you'd want a pixel 6! The sensor captures incredible amounts of data (more than the iphone 13) that you can very easily edit later to your liking. most smartphones don't let you do that to such a degree.
      I'd rather have a camera that lets me play with more data in post-processing than a camera that gets what it thinks that I want every time.

    • @TheMrMobile
      @TheMrMobile  3 ปีที่แล้ว +61

      @@S7ARBOY This. Also, so many people fail to look past the simple photo comparisons to the *rest* of the camera experience. Given unlimited time and patience, I can probably take a more technically impressive photo with (for example) Sony's latest Xperia than with the Pixel. But the Pixel (and now the iPhone) lets me take good photos without even trying - and even great photos with a minimum of effort. It's weird to say, but ... cameras are more than photos.

    Watching on my pixel 3a xl, debating on upgrading. The new update did update my current pixel with some things, like the wallpaper options and bigger toggles with color customization. Android 12 seems to affecting some apps in a bad way, hoping they're just bugs to work out. Just don't know if it's worth the upgrade yet, but I appreciate you reviewing the pixel 6.... instead of the 6 pro like everyone else is doing! If anyone has had experience with the 3a xl and the 6, I'm open to suggestions!

    • @halotubb1110
      @halotubb1110 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just upgraded to it from the 3a XL. My initial takeaways:
      Best improvements:
      - Android 12 is super smooth on the 6, it was a bit slow on my 3a XL. My first flagship phone, and it's performance is outstanding
      - 5g!
      - Camera is better, and the magic eraser is truly amazing. Haven't used video yet
      - Sturdy glass/metal body, my polycarbonate 3a warped a bit like many others
      - Adaptive refresh up to 90 Hz (I'm told that's a good thing)
      - Transferring data, pics and apps is super easy. Just use your USBC cable and follow prompts
      A few things you will miss about the 3a XL:
      - No headphone jack
      - 3a is lighter. 6 is heavier
      - Glass body is nice but get at case, I've heard you can crack it if it drops
      - I really miss the rear fingerprint scanner, you will get used to the under screen scanner. Works pretty well

      pm. I'm used to my Huawei P30 pro making it to bedtime with 40% battery. But the P30 did not have random numbers on the lock screen. Maybe the Pixel 6 pro is using processor power to generate codes that are important only to itself? For example:

    7:35 imo the pixel shots looks 100% better. If someone would edit these they would try to bring down the highlights and up the shadows for more detail. But its personal opinion when I started editing I liked contrast images and with more shadows/highlights the typical rgb S curve like on the iphone.. But now im the opposite lol I think the more flatter raw and clean image looks better its less distracting and easier to look at. I can see they bring up the shadows and down the highlights which create a nice effect and also brings more information in the photo. Then u can edit alot but it shouldnt be to much contrast or to much saturation like the iphone have. I dont know I just think it looks very amateurish like a child would have have bumped up the highlights contrast and darken

  • @Thundy
    @Thundy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just received my Pixel 6 a few days ago, my main two gripes with it are that there is no built in Gallery, you're directed straight to Google Photos and that there's also no built in music player, you're stuck with either TH-cam music or Play Music, the latter of which is horrible for music stored locally and always seems to want to be connected to the internet to even play local music. I personally download all of my music, so that makes it extremely frustrating coming from a Galaxy S10+ where Samsung Music does a great job at organizing everything into albums and playlists. I find myself reaching back for my S10 just because everything just works.
    I'm gonna give it a couple weeks, and if the Pixel doesn't amaze me I think I'm going to just go get the S21+.

No matter what I did, I could not look at my S-10 and actually read it in the dark for several minutes. My eyes have trouble adjusting, but with this it is like looking a Kindle at night!!! And it does it automatically with a little tweaking on the settings!! :) Wonderful. Great camera. The colors matching pictures also is very cool! And the price.
