Thank you for this video, in Korea, the birthplace of Samsung, its kind of young peoples trend to say sh*ts about Samsung and brag about using Newest iphones. I was just sick of seeing this.
Sorry, but Apple is rubbish. You get old, castrated technology for a lot higher price. I usually use the premium android models, and they worked fine for years. Currently, I use Fold 4, then used note 4 for almost 10 years. I am moderately loyal. I used Ericsson, then Nokia, then Samsung, and if Samsung does something I don't like, I will switch to something else. BTW, the colours on the Apple's rainbow are in the wrong order.
@@platynowa I don't like how iPhone has hardware from non-Apple companies but their customers can't use those parts and fix their shit themselves. Like wtf Apple???? You really can't make exclusive hardware for yourself but expect your customers to shell out big ass dollars for your shite???
but that's what everyone does, google tries to push their stuff that you are locked on google only services... and Microsoft tries with their own services, but because of DMA and governmental reasons, IT companies are "forced" to comply with the regulations. And that opens the "technical lock-ins", not because google or microsoft really wants to open, but because they have to. The same will happen to Apple (it is already happening).
Agreed, I am personally considering to de-google my life. But the amount of passwords/payment/website data they have consolidated makes it tricky to move to 3rd parties
@@stennan I already started. But its not an easy process. Couple things that you can do easily is not to use Google seach (you will hardly find anything better there anyway) and switch to different mail provider. Other things might be more difficult or annoying to get rid of but its possible.
My workplace actually allowed us to pick if we'd like a Mac laptop or Windows when we started, which I thought was pretty amazing. I chose Windows though because as we're in the government sector, I knew most stuff would be geared towards Windows and that's likely what other state agencies would be using, so I could troubleshoot with them easier (though some coworkers having Apple is helpful for those rare cases when I need someone to test something on a Mac for me that a user is experiencing). I also have only used Windows because it's more compatible with everything else I have (an Android and Google's suite of services).
I worked at an Apple Store and I can assure brand loyalty is so sad, some dude spent nearly 3k on an iPad just to write notes and this guy had to use a multiple credit cards just to purchase it. I pushed him not purchase the high end iPad and just stick to a cheaper option but he insisted 😢
I work in GB and it's so tiring to hear "I've got everything Apple and I'm so loyal to the brand" when they hear that something is OOW and they are shocked at the cost expecting something for free or discounted. I try to help by offering other options even outside of Apple but they just shut me down and leave in a huff saying "I'll leave you guys for Android" which goes to show how delusional brand loyalty can make people
You're one of a kind. An Apple worker told me to buy a new iPad because the charging port on my son's iPad wasn't working (6 year old tablet). Nah, I'll help support Apple's green vision and reduction of e-waste by taking it to a repair shop. Cheaper too. ❤️
@soulknight89 😂 all these companies are a joke.. especially apple. Products are designed for 1 time use/cannot be repaired or 2/3 cost of a new unit.... Don't believe me, check out Louis Rossman's repair videos
100%. I work at Best Buy and I get soooooooooo many people who are like "oh no I don't want this computer because it's not Dell" I had a guy that was really impressed by one of our models and he almost didn't buy it because he didn't recognize the new HP logo. So many people miss out on great products because they're not from XYZ brand.

@@vvitch-mist20 the fact that she's in her 30s and acts like that over a stupid text bubble speaks volumes about her as a person. 30 year olds or anyone of any age shouldn't make Apple or any company that sells phones their whole identity. It's all on personal preference, but dumb dumbs don't care about that.
That girl on the dating show saying oh you have an android nevermind I cant do this. Dude, she saved you. She is a red flag. That is such an ick factor because of a phone.
Honestly that mentality is dying out. I don’t even see teens anymore pushing for the latest phone to show off, it’s all about even more expensive clothes and shoes now. They still get a shit ton of sales since there’s a ton of people upgrading an old phone in a year. Statistically, iPhone users keep their phones longer now than Android users crazily enougb

My cousin is apple fan, she owns iphone and apple watch. One time when we were sitting in a caffe, she started jerking her hand up and down like a weirdo. I asked her what was she doing and she said "oh, my apple watch is reminding me to be more physically active".....and she is 35, controlled by a machine. Yikes!
My wife got convinced to go to apple a year ago. So we traded our android for iPhones. People claiming iPhones are better have either never used a high end android or are plain liars. Photos aren’t better. The features aren’t that better. The ecosystem is “well done” but locks you in (which I hate). … Anyways. Finding yourself an identity through a brand is sad. And owning an iPhone doesn’t make you special.
This is unfortunately often the case. I'm not an apple hater. I have a MacBook and iPad pro. But I had a 15 Pro Max and S24 Ultra. There is nobody who has used both of those that would objectively say the 15 Pro Max is better than the S24 Ultra. It's honestly not even close. The iPhone just integrates better in its "ecosystem" ie I can see messages and FaceTimes on my phone, iPad and mac
@@lakernation8988 I have totally opposite opinion. I've had an iphone 5s inbetween HTC and Samsung phone and the iphone always got me frustrated by its lack of customization. Something as easy as moving an app icon that was in android since start was impossible on iphones until recently. Even the iphone was noticeably slower to charge
I'm an android user but my work phone is an iPhone. It's the first time I've ever had an iPhone (obviously not by choice). I'm so amazed by how featureless this phone is. Things that are so simple on my phone are needlessly tedious and difficult on an iPhone. For example, I don't understand why you can't just download sounds to your phone to use as ringtones / notifications... you are forced to purchase them on an iPhone or go through some complicated process using garage band to make a ringtone. Why? You should just be able to download an audio file you like (or upload it from your computer) and then just use it but that's needlessly difficult.
Or you can just upload it into your library and use it from there. But you can for sure make it way more complicated way. I do not like many things on Apple, especially it does not work as external disc when connected to a computer with all the consequences like playing the music you download without adding to the library, but your story is just too much, mate.
Iphone also locks you into itunes by not letting you play anything but other people's music rented from itunes. The only way to listen to your original music is through the file manager.
Yes, iOS sucks when it comes to upload/download. I guess it's a security "feature" to protect the non-tech-savvy from themselves. However, Andriod sucks when it comes to things like navigating phone settings. iOS isn't perfect either, but much like Windows vs. macOS, I find Android (Samsung) has a sometimes frustrating lack of intuitiveness with how things are organized. I don't use my phone as a computer, so I don't care about how it handles files, but I value good design and user experience with even the simplest, most mundane tasks, and for me, iOS wins. TBH, I kinda want to go back to dumb phones, both to save money and to get out of the endless upgrade cycle. But I'm obviously in the minority.
Isn't the reason of a "brand"? A brand refers to the identity and perception of a company, product, or service as shaped by its values, design, messaging, and customer experiences. It encompasses tangible elements such as logos, slogans, and packaging, as well as intangible aspects like reputation, customer loyalty, and emotional connection with the audience. A strong brand helps distinguish a business or product in the market, builds trust, and communicates what it stands for. Essentially, a brand is how a company is perceived by the public and how it communicates its promise or value to consumers.
A corporation with a well known brand has a reputation to lose. So if your climbing rope says "Mammut" on it, you can reasonably expect it to be safe by modern standards of climbing ropes.

As far as computers go, I'd love to go back to using Linux, but there are some commercial software that I use that aren't available, and the Linux alternatives just aren't good enough. As for phones, TBH I kinda want to go back to using dumb phones. Smart phones are kind of a big waste of money for me. I built PCs for 12 years then in 2015 I went to an iMac and will never go back. For me I had way more "fun" using the mac and WAAAY less hassles and headaches with the OS and hardware in general (still using that iMac to this day).

You bringing up that Toyota waits until something has been proven before expanding on it is fully correct. American car manufacturers basically make iPad car interiors now, WHILE Toyota just recently changed their Camry interior to have a screen, but also feel like a car (not an iPad).
I have been a apple user because my family has apple. As of now I no longer use any apple product. More games on windows, and some android phones still come with a freaking headphone jack while keeping the IP68 water resistance (some IP69).
Airdrop is extremely frustrating when you are dealing with 200+ small photos / 100+ large photos. It fails partially / silently until you restart both phones I also found the iCloud lock-in predatory - using our own external storage as archive for phone storage is really hard, people just paid for iCloud - if your iCloud Photos is full, phone storage is full, and they only partially overlap, good luck syncing your photo album to another platform Hence I stick to windows and always try to keep my photos & docs off apple’s ecosystem. Once it stays there, I’m not getting it back (tip: use iMazing to rip your 500+GB photos straight out of ur iphone’s file system 😂)

Stop upgrading yearly. Technology isn’t moving as quickly for smart phones anymore. I’m running an 11 ProMax ffs, it works fine. If 16 gets good reviews I might get it after it hits 6 months tbh
And lastly, iPhone 10 is still receiving security and feature updates. It’s not fully supported because the device is likely not spec’ed for all the upgrades. But it’s still a secure choice that works for… you know… being a phone
@@justahugenerd1278 It takes me a year to get my phone how I like it. Who can be bothered having to transfer all of your stuff over again? Let alone teaching predictive text all the swear words again. Having said that, they're probably figuring that with things like trade ins, they can get the latest one every year while the old one is at its maximum resale value. And other people just have insane phone contracts where they pay an absolute fortune for their phone tariff, because a marketing trick has convinced them that they're buying a service rather than buying an expensive phone on credit. But that allows them to get a brand new phone "for free" every couple of years.
Even as a samsung user, I honestly haven't really felt any need or pressure to upgrade my phone in about 3 years. Me and my fiancee upgraded our phones for the first time in years this year. Me to an S24 Ultra and her to an iPhone 15 Pro Max. Beyond the cameras I honestly would've never noticed the difference.
The big problem here is consumerism. Always wanting new things and being manipulated in buying them. Of course, when your phone breaks you buy a new one, but the truth is that buying second hand is more sustainable and for many things in life its overall cheaper, better for the environment and doesn't support these huges monopolies that manipulate us every day. They get away with too much and we continue trusting them. Stop being a consumer and take control of the products you use.
One word .... integration My iPad works with my Mac that works with my iPhone that works with my Apple Watch that works with my Apple TV This integration between devices does so many good things on my every day use that is impossible for me to switch to an Android.
The one thing that Apple was far ahead on, but Samsung (and other companies are quickly catching up on). Some could argue that Samsung has surpassed Apple on tech integration because they include home appliances and versatile features such as DeX. The idea of difficulty in switching is just a mental block and emotional brand investment these days. Not that I'm trying to convince you to switch, I'm just trying to be objective.
@@OneNiftyBoi Brand investment is definitely a thing and I personally love the apple "style" and "design". I thumbed up this video for the title alone. I choose what to consume based on needs and quality, not the logo. If a brand I regularly use and trust starts to underperform, I shop elsewhere. A logo is not a selling point, unless you want to get culty about it.
Good outlook, but it's important to acknowledge that not everybody shares it. Bullying in schools over what kind of phones kids have in their pockets is real. Adults make their own choices, but kids' choice is made for them by societal standards. It is a cult, mostly because these kids know absolutely nothing about the technology yet they blindly worship it anyway and belittle any peers who disagree with them. The apple logo is the biggest selling point they have for these people.
As much as I despise brand loyalty, I get why it works. Especially for the non-tech savvy people that's 90% of the customers Apple caters to, it's so much easier to just get the thing that everyone says is best, and not having to think about it. Who cares that 60Hz is a pathetic refresh rate for that price, when you don't even know what it is? "Don't think, just consume product" is every company's wet dream, so they do everything they can to breed that kind of customer
The garden inside those walls is just different enough that other phones will be unfamiliar and uncomfortable enough to get you to go back to "your brand". That ties into bias and identity as well, which can again lead to people judging others for using the "other brand".
The more I became a tech guy I just realised that there really isn't a difference between the top Android phones and Apple phones. In fact when it comes to "usefulness" or "innovation" Android is actually better than Apple.
write, code, design, produce music and video and network for 5-10 years*. Taught how to build gaming PCs around 2011/13, I have ZERO idea how and what should I buy now, cause PC kinda comes down to high FPS/$ ratio and upgrading it relatively frequently. The man with a Mac just works, maybe something loads a bit slower after a couple years, it has far from paid off its singular price by that point (subjectively), so he'll buy another one seamlessly transfering all his stuff. The man taught how to build a PC knows to be careful around parts and that "bean" thermal paste method is the best after all, but needs a portion of his whole workstation and workflow accomodated to this aforementioned style of upgrading, making backups, etc. Working mostly academia and music production (and a games lover) - I learned to love and hate both. In phone world tbh I've no idea why would anyone opt for an android phone, I'm not gonna forcefeed anyone tho. With sound, well, that's an area without a universal answer, but I go for Airpods, I like how they play, I like the design, they fit my needs. At home I choose FL Studio over Abletone and professional sound monitors and/or fullsized headphones (and threads covering which ones I SHOULD use go on on forums since the Internet started I think). I can work on my Macbook and then transfer a whole project to the PC due to processsing power and aging laptop, there I can nicely mix/master stuff I creatively made on the macbook. He's consistently very frustrated about how they change the OS. He teases moving to PC, but he never does. Hes rather suffer with Apple.
You can say the same about Windows users that prefer to quietly suffer than move to Linux, and suffer in a different way. Basically life is suffering, you just trade one suffering for another. The trick is to find a worthy cause for your suffering.

I get that it was a throwaway point, but please be more accurate about planned obsolescence: it started in 1924 w/ GM re-releasing annual car models after the auto industry was saturated at that time. It can be said that Apple may have reminded users heavily about the same phenomena ever since the iPhone was released, but they're not the originators.
I think it was implied when he said they "basically" invented it. It's been around for a long time and used in tons of business strategies, but could be argued Apple implemented it and made it mainstream and a widely-known term. They're considered the pioneers of it, even if it's been around for a century.
Planned obsolescence involves creating a product with a set lifespan so that an end user is forced into buying a new one when the old one fails. Annual releases of a 'new and improved' model to convince customers they need an upgrade when their current model is basically just as good is a different albeit still very scummy practice
It's implied that Apple did it, but yes it was a major car maker. My dad would have argued it was sears roebuck and Kenmore. He pushed more washers dryers down the back steps as a kid because they were crap.
@@Hunter-ck1zy I fail to see anything scummy about releasing a new model every year, especially when apple has a history of supporting their existing devices with software much longer than their competition. The competition has caught up, but only because apple set the bar for them to catch up to. I would argue that, at least in the mobile phone space, apple is the least bad when it comes to planned obsolescence.
Absolutely true. And it's false to say Apple uses planned obsolescence any more than any other company. In fact, my experience has been more the opposite. My may Apple products over the years (phones, Macs, accessories) have had very long lifespans compared to anyone else I know who uses other brands. My Macs keep chugging for up to 10 years. I've never had one die, I've only replaced them because I eventually wanted something faster, larger, more compatible (expanded I/O, etc.). It was never because they became obsolete or failed.
the trap in this case is making something that works better than the competitors, Samsung has more smart devices than pretty much every other company and yet no one calls their ecosystem a trap
I’m an iPhone and iPad user because it’s reliable and offers years and years of updates. What I don’t like is that I bought a Samsung galaxy tab S10 Ultra and what I hate the most is that I have no means of watching my apple tv content, I have over 500$ dollars worth of series and films that are not on apps like Netflix, Prime video and so on. I hate that companies don’t share their apps, a mean apple music is available why not Apple tv. And I’m not talking about Apple tv+, that’s available on a web browser. This is becoming insulting to a point that I don’t want the product no more.
To note: While doing right by the customer is not a corporation's primary goal, doing wrong by the customer isn't either. Often doing right by the customer ends up being the right move to making the most money. I say this not to instill blind trust in companies, because often they DO do wrong by the customer to make money, but to encourage people to think. I've seen people assume malice often when there likely isn't any. Honest mistakes do happen. Now another interesting thing to consider: If a company is doing the right thing, but it's motivated by the wrong things, is it still the right thing? My personal opinion is yes, but I feel many won't agree. In either case, it is good to be able to understand what the motive is.
A far more interesting take on this subject would be the people prioritize certain brands over the necessities of life and/or who beg for brands that they try to be loyal to and can’t afford themselves
"I like Apple because everything works and I rarely get technical issues", an actual quote from the video. Bro, that bar is on the ground and yet Apple is still bumping its head against it. If he wanted to give us an example of dumb brand loyalty, I guess he succeeded.
While it did take forever to have apps where every you wanted was on the screen it wasn't a breaking issue, just a want. Poor people all over the place can buy the most expensive phone and have the same things as the rich... do they need it, no, does the other also no. They have money and make a product that you can pick from a range of others.
@@HunterTracks Windows users constantly having "technical issues" almost always did stupid shit themselves to cause those issues then blame the system for not babying them and holding their hands. They won't consider Linux either, even though both it and Mac OS are Unix based, because it won't hand hold them and dumb down the experience by being restrictive.
As I've always said, Apple is Scientology for domestic computing. You buy into Apple hoping to achieve maximum enlightenment. You buy all of peripherals and linked devices. You run the OS, upload your personal data and make an account. You go to the sacred shops to have your tech fixed. You pay more and more, upgrade after upgrade. By the time you realise how much money you've invested in this one company, it's too late to leave. To leave the Apple empire is to leave a life of data behind. I can see why peeps will stick with them once they have signed up.
Hey man, I was exclusively an Android user and tech-spec nerd most of my life. I only ended up with an iPhone this past year by a combination of practicality for my circumstances and because I got their flagship plus Apple Watch and AirPods Pro for less than half the retail price lol. For most users, they just aren’t into tech like that and it isn’t that deep. The cultists and brand loyalists are annoying, yes, but there are other reasons people end up with iPhones than blind loyalty or stupidity. I still miss my Android phone, I still am exclusively PC for computers, my tablet is a Samsung, favorite phone of all-time was my OnePlus 7 Pro (Android). But a good deal is a good deal, and what he said about getting “locked in” to the ecosystem is VERY TRUE. Once you add an Apple Watch, AirPods Pro or both to the mix you’re kind of trapped for a while. Overall, I still prefer Android and will go back eventually. But don’t assume someone is clueless or brand loyal just because you see them holding an iPhone or something. Most of the time it’s not that deep. I would still argue with anyone who ever tried to state that Apple phones are superior by any objective measure, definitely not true. But for smartwatches and fitness trackers ALL AROUND…. Newer Apple Watches are the best compromise, again all around; and what sucks is they don’t work with the Android phones. Another truth is that the newer AirPods Pros are genuinely great ALL-AROUNDERS in the true wireless earbud category… if you have an iPhone ha. Are any of them the best at any one thing? No. But I understand why people who aren’t into fidgeting with tech stick to them now. Once these die I will go back to Android.
@mikelovesbacon iCloud? No thank you. I will agree that Windows can be a cruel mistress, but since I've been using Windows since the Medieval age, I have learned to tame that beast. My phone is an entirely different device, and I would not wish for the two to embrace. Just to be clear, I am the only non Mac user in my realm, and I do get envious. But I'm not into Scientology.
@@WinterReflections Airpods don't even support bluetooth 5.4... There are better alternatives to apple watches if people look for a little bit, for a better price too, with much more features and almost always better battery life. And you don't need to shop Garmin either (those also tend to be even more expensive than Apple, but they work pretty much forever). Apple is great at coming up with new problems and no solutions to them. Their watches have to be charged daily and are pretty fragile (I had Watch 6), batteries in wireless earbuds don't last very long (battery health wise not play time wise) and are not replacable, well, unless you buy a whole new set of airpods again. It's all invented to get people to spend more money, nothing more. They don't even dare to add the latest bluetooth standard to their devices or 120Hz screens (among various other things that a regular phone has) to their expensive phones, because then it's fewer things they can add in the future, be it next year, or in 10 years. Scummy anti-consumer tactics.

Maybe I just have a stronger sense of taste in the average person, but I would put money on my ability to tell the difference between Coke Pepsi and a third mystery cola.
If you want to spend a disgustingly exorbitant amount of money for soda for a truly unique experience… Find “Fentiman’s Curosity Cola”. It’s like a “craft soda” brand and in the US is an import, hard to find and expensive, but trying that opened my eyes to what “cola” used to be. And Coke/Pepsi are vastly different. It’s very herbal and natural by comparison, minus the coca leaf lol.
Apple also really good at create a problem and then sell the solution... Apple get caught secretly making older version of their phone slower so the only way to fix the problem is "buy the solution" like buy a new phone for example, and there's no alternative like fixing your phone because iPhone lock your phone if anyone ever try to replace components of the phone so it feels like we don't own the phone that people bought which forcing people to "buy the solution". Apple really great at business and marketing themselves at the right people. But also really great at controlling everything. Even how Apple doesn't adopt new technology into their phone which make the cost of making iPhone "cheaper" compare to High-End Android phones, but somehow iPhone is more expensive and people view iPhone as luxury. I can't describe how much Apple is kinda like a cult at this point.
I am not brand loyal to any cola company but cola is my favorite flavor and drink a variety of brands and I almost went through my TV when he said this.
Feeling "locked-in" to an ecosystem isn't a compliment toward Apple products. Sure, they've profited from it. Great business move, Apple. But it's not a winning argument to claim "Apple is better" The correct statement would be "Apple's **marketing** team is better"
I don't have brand loyalty because I refuse to be loyal to companies who would sell my blood if they could. EDIT: MAKING IT HARD TO LEAVE IS THE LITERAL DEFINTION OF A CULT!?
I'm an Android AND Apple user, yeah, they exist. I buy whatever suits my needs at the time, don't care about being a loyal "fangirl". Btw, I've never had problems with my Samsung phones OR my Apple ipads. On a side note, I can't believe people think that these large corporations see than them as anything more than a dollar sign...haha...so funny.
If it ain't broke, then I ain't buying a new one. I've had my iPhone 6 for over 8.5 years. Changed the battery after 5 years. I only bought it because others convinced me that I needed it for FaceTime (which I never use). The Samsung Galaxy I had prior, was more user friendly and less proprietary. Admittedly, my iPhone has lasted longer than my Android, so there's that. When it's time to get my next phone, it won't be based on brand loyalty, but more on reliability, privacy and longevity.
I'd argue that there is another group involved, the "anti-loyalists" who practically define themselves by not buying Apple products (or something else). I know so many Android users who are basically just using Android because they don't want and iPhone, and salivate at the opportunity to call it a cult. Brand loyalty IS dumb. Worrying about people's loyalty by functionally creating it's inverse is just as dumb.
I think those anti-loyalists are mostly samsung users. Mostly because the company itself is rabid. The pixel, vivo, xiaomi, asus (or any other android brands) are typically more chill. Just my observation as a non-ecosystem person (i use an iphone and a pixel, my watch is a xiaomi, my laptop is a dell and got airpods 2 from a credit card freebie)
"anti-loyalist" you can say haters y'know. Also not really the same thing I think. Apple haters can get just as intense, yeah, but I wouldn't call them a cult like apple users can be. Two random apple fanatics would have more in common than two random apple haters.
@@Jose-Luis.Garnica-SanchezI appreciate you acknowledging the Huawei/Xiaomi thing. There are way more brands than just those two that also were basically exterminated in the US because of politics and trade wars. Most Americans have never heard of most non-Samsung Android companies because so many of those products were either banned or made inferior for US buyers. BUT as for Samsung; they still are the ones who are choosing to shed their better qualities and become more and more like Apple in the worst ways (“ecosystem” traps, planned obsolescence, etc.). By the time the band and/or tariffs on many Chinese/Taiwanese Android makers happened, the bear duopoly between Apple and Samsung/Google was already pretty set in stone in America. Samsung is just as anti-consumer as Apple and they are becoming harder and harder to tell apart.
@@Jose-Luis.Garnica-SanchezRemember the golden days of LG smartphones? They should have beaten Samsung. Also I owned the OnePlus 7 pro, it was amazing. After that, OnePlus went down the drain.
Sadly because of the compatibility issues you're really stuck with picking an ecosystem. Cross compatibility is really difficult and not worth the effort. Apple has very deliberately created products that really only effectively work with other Apple products. Not saying this is good or bad...just a reality in our world today.
@@limbeboy7 A single Apple product, sure. But multiple products that all work well together? I've had countless Android (and pre-Android) phones and Windows laptops over the years, and every time, I've woken up one day to find that they just randomly no longer connect properly (even back in the wired days). So many other devices that claim to connect to each other that are either so unreliable as to make it pointless (Sony camera's phone link, I'm looking at you), or work for a short time but then stop working when one of the devices updates. I once updated to the new version of Windows and the trackpad stopped working ffs. I had to plug in a mouse to revert to the previous version.
@@limbeboy7 Depends on what you're looking for. Macbooks still reign supreme with battery life and performance on battery. The new Qualcomm chips tried to pretend otherwise but they still fail to truly compete, especially given all of the issues with Windows on ARM. As someone who spends probably 16 hours away from home every day, having a laptop that lasts that whole time without breaking a sweat is very important to me. For reference, I have a PC at home that I use for gaming and I also use an Android -- I am definitely no diehard Apple fan. I also used to use a PC laptop for work (that was what I switched from)
Sony, Samsung, LG etc products work perfectly together. Hundreds of technology brands are designed to work together, as best they can. They're inclusive. Apple, on the other hand, only works with Apple. It's exclusive. Non-inclusive. Monolithic. Apple is the one that does things 'differently' from most other brands in the market. On purpose.
Working in tech retail, I think every day I get more bigoted against apple users. they are THE most shoplifted products, people get VIOLENT over them and are so very often so condescending or weird about the very idea of them being apple products. Thieves treat it like gold bullion. It's bizarre.
Humans are tribal - that relates to politics, nationalism, and brand loyalty. As a long time tech worker with an graphics and industrial design background, I've always loved Apple's designs and usability, but always chose Android and Windows for the better value, platform openness, and choice of brands. Yes, that leads to more security and interoperability, which many mainstream consumers don't want to deal with...
The data behind existing customers is exaclty why modern video games are as frustrating as they are. They rather hold onto their existing player base on the game already put rather than re-attract those players into a new game.
That's total bullshit. Computer games have never been less frustrating. Even small developers are putting a lot of effort into games being a smooth experience. If anything some developers go too far with hand holding. Old games were frustrating. Angry Video Game Nerd build his brand on that fact.
Tell that to Square-Enix, who've completely abandoned what made Final Fantasy beloved by many decades-long existing fans in pursuit of a "wider audience".
As someone who is split loyal, my biggest takeaway is: As a Mac user, I need 2 laptops to do ALL my work, but my Android phone will always give me 4-5 years of life and be replaced only when I want to.
@@BigEmpySpaces76 no, I'm saying the brand loyal concept is as bonkers as it is. I'm loyal to apple for my laptop, and I still need two because as big as apple is, it doesn't work with everything and I still need a PC Meanwhile my Android phone doesn't go to hell after a year or two. I should just get out of Apple's ecosystem, but I'm stuck there for one thing because I made a choice 30 years ago.
@@catherinebaldwin6580 I think this is a further example of what Levi was talking about. Everyone I know with an iPhone replaces it every couple years and says planned obsolescence. But is it really? The only time I ever encountered that personally was on a Samsung. And eventually my old MBP had software obsolescence that required me to buy a new Mac because two of the programs I need to work just...stopped working after an update.
Honestly, I think the length of time your phone lasts is more about how much you spend on it than the brand itself. I've got an iPhone 12, which I bought new, and it works just as well as the day I bought it. Meanwhile, my previous Android phones have only lasted 2-3 years each, and usually see a decrease in performance throughout that time. But it's not exactly a fair comparison, because my iPhone cost around $1000, and the Androids were always below $200.
I actively try to avoid the ecosystem trap. I bought a Framework laptop a couple years ago. I will likely not need to replace it for two decades. I can continue upgrading parts when necessary, because the company allows everyone access to blueprints of their modular setup. Using Linux keeps me from Windows' best efforts to lock people in. I've used the same phone for far longer than its usual lifespan because I'm using a custom de-Googled Android-based OS.
Framework laptops were not yet available in my country when I needed a new one, otherwise I would have done the same. And have pretty mucht he Phone counterpart of the Framework laptop, as in, the Fairphone 5
Again, like many things, this seems to be especially an American thing. Don’t get me wrong, Apply brand loyalty is definitely a worldwide thing, they’re not the most valuable company (now nvidia??) without their marketing working worldwide, but the ‘shaming’ side of it definitely seems to be dialed up to 11 in North America and it’s so SO odd. The green bubble/blue bubble really isn’t a thing for most of the world because outside of the US 3rd party apps like WhatsApp are usually the most commonly used messaging apps. But also you can’t even read an Apple launch event article without an avalanche of android/samsung users flooding the comments with their cliched remarks not realizing that half the stuff they poke fun at Apple for is being done by samsung as well. Big corporations are going to big corporate. Use whatever you wanna use if it makes you happy.
I have a Pro iPhone because I need to record in ProRes for my Job. I have a Mac because of the software stability and airdrop. It's stupid for most people, and for most it is unnecessary. I think your two types of customer-loyalty were missing an important 3rd type: Deliberate lock-in, which is just rationalized into "loyalty". Almost everything with software, or plugs, or connection systems, or... that aren't free and open in their products is using that to deliberately make moving to (or using accessories/parts from) a competitor's product deliberately difficult. See green/blue bubble lunacy, account based purchases, headphones not using all features on another OS, ...
I’m still using the iPhone XR (2018) I bought pre owned in 2021 and it’s still working fine. I only ever buy pre owned a few year old Apple products, I get phones with a good enough camera, latest software still and usually costs me under 200. I needed to upgrade so I’ve ordered 11pro (secondhand/refurbished) for £210, yes the 16 would be better but I’d rather save £800 than buy the latest device each year. It blows my mind people queue up each year to spend £1000+ on the same yet just slightly different phone

Brand loyalty is stupid.
But technical lock-in is real.
but that's what everyone does, google tries to push their stuff that you are locked on google only services... and Microsoft tries with their own services, but because of DMA and governmental reasons, IT companies are "forced" to comply with the regulations. And that opens the "technical lock-ins", not because google or microsoft really wants to open, but because they have to. The same will happen to Apple (it is already happening).

I’ve had Android phones for work obviously NOT by choice!

The man with a Mac just works, maybe something loads a bit slower after a couple years, it has far from paid off its singular price by that point (subjectively), so he'll buy another one seamlessly transfering all his stuff. The man taught how to build a PC knows to be careful around parts and that "bean" thermal paste method is the best after all, but needs a portion of his whole workstation and workflow accomodated to this aforementioned style of upgrading, making backups, etc.

You don't have to leave anything behind.
E.g. iTune songs are simply files on your computer you can copy around.
"Make an account" - my Mac has never forced me to make an iCloud account whereas Windows makes it difficult to not use a Microsoft account.

Yeah. The big 2 are quite different. Even R/C is clearly different than both of them.
Same. I'm surprised that many people couldn't tell the difference when for decades now the formulas have obvious changes and differences to them.
It’s very herbal and natural by comparison, minus the coca leaf lol.
there's definitely a difference, but the normal versions are similar.
Coke zero on top of both tho
Somehow I get the feeling he forgot to check who funded those studies that say people prefer pepsi

Did you not watch this video? At all.
I have both. Treating people differently based on the phone they use is just beyond weird. Buy what you want and leave people alone.

@@RideOnTimePH Probably. I'd lump in the Pixel people too. They get up their own asses about every little thing like the Apple folks.

“Brand Loyalty” is just people promising to give a company money every year for basically the same thing (yes, Samsung and Apple).
The banning of Huawei and Xiaomi in the US was the downfall of Samsung. It's becoming more and more Apple in its practices everyday smh

Idk, what some people call “trapped” in an ecosystem others might call “happily serviced” in it
Kind of proves the old axiom correct: "The things you own, end up owning you."
Sadly because of the compatibility issues you're really stuck with picking an ecosystem. Cross compatibility is really difficult and not worth the effort. Apple has very deliberately created products that really only effectively work with other Apple products. Not saying this is good or bad...just a reality in our world today.
There is not a single apple product which doesn't have a better option on the market
its literally bad
Wait, do people actually decide whether to date someone based on whether they use Apple or Android ? That's super stupid !
I’ll give you credit for listing your sources but this was a hard watch
As someone who is split loyal, my biggest takeaway is:
As a Mac user, I need 2 laptops to do ALL my work, but my Android phone will always give me 4-5 years of life and be replaced only when I want to.
You are comparing a laptop to a phone. And you care comparing doing work to a thing lasting 4-5 years. This bot sucks. It makes no sense at all.
@@BigEmpySpaces76 no, I'm saying the brand loyal concept is as bonkers as it is. I'm loyal to apple for my laptop, and I still need two because as big as apple is, it doesn't work with everything and I still need a PC
Meanwhile my Android phone doesn't go to hell after a year or two. I should just get out of Apple's ecosystem, but I'm stuck there for one thing because I made a choice 30 years ago.
Only 4.5 years? I had my old iphone for 7 years before I needed to replace it. I only had 3 iphones in my life so far.
@@steveweidig5373 I'd love my next phone to be a Fairphone. By the time my phone bites the dust, I hope it's available in my country!
Android users at least on the Internet just as bad at trying to shame Apple users for using an iPhone.
I have a Pro iPhone because I need to record in ProRes for my Job. I have a Mac because of the software stability and airdrop. It's stupid for most people, and for most it is unnecessary. However, for professional use, the iPhone is just more polished. I still have the 14 Pro because it has most of the features of the new ones.
