Thank you! Ill be doing this tomorrow. For some reason, my bayou backfires and is hard to start when the engine is warm/hot. Starts better when its cold. Ive gone through a few woodruff keys on the flywheel. Im thinking the valves are too tight and when they warm up they get tighter. Thoughts or ideas?
I have a 92 bayou and it doesn’t want to start it would bog down and then quit I get spark from the plug we changed the piston rings and the timing chain we tested and it does have low compression it gets up to about 60 where it needs 90-100 so we’re trying the valves now
Is the gap listed as the valve stem-to-valve guide clearance? My book shows 0.02-0.10mm for intake and 0.05-0.11mm for exhaust. Do you just pick the middle? Sounds like you do but wanted to make sure
hello I have the same engine but my doubt is because when I put the timing on, my piston is in the middle of the cylinder, I realized because it did not start and my compression was 25psi. Then I put the piston all the way up which means top dead center and my compression increased to 125psi but my ATV still won't start. can you help me please. I have changed timing chain
Thanks for posting this info. DO we remove the timing chain to adjust the valves or get to TDC? My Bayou won't move with the trailer on the hitch. Like the brake is on. I have to push with my feet to get it moving without the trailer. Hope the valve adjustment helps it run with more power.
my 2000 bayou 220 was riding fine a few days ago then started to bog down to where it didnt want to move at all then it shut off. and i couldn't start it up again. some one said it might be out of time and that the valves could be bent too. idk. i know the motor will turn but wont start up. i have spark from the spark plug. just dont seem as if it has enough compression to fire back up. any help would be very greatful.
wonder if i could swap engines. use a lt230 shaft driven 5 speed. on a 220 bayou frame? both are shaft driven. both are 5 speed. both have electric start and pully start. wonder if it would work or fit
My 220 has a knocking noise that developed. I think it may of been due to low oil. Will adjusting valves help my issue or will I need a top end kit? I could share a video of what it sounds like but not sure the best method to do that
Great job explaining how to adjust the valves

Mid Nebraska Motorsports where is the best place to order a top end kit?
I need help tô fix my bayou 220. I from Brasil
Would this be the same procedure for a 250?
So after watching this there is no point in removing the recoil starter...
Those "screws" are actually bolts and they are 6mm! Bolt sizes are determined by the diameter!! Not the head size - so now the world knows
Nice video, but there's really no point to removing the recoil
Do you adjust the tensioner after the valves if so how? 2002 220
