Kawasaki Bayou 300, No Crank, Low Compression, Bad Valve Timing Fixes!

- Bought this $460 Kawasaki Bayou KLF300 last week and on the first look, it was noted that both the recoil and electric starters were not working. In this video, the starter is fixed, the improperly installed timing chain was corrected, and a low compression cold start, old start was performed.

You the man Harvey!! Oh I’ll just pull off this cam chain cover and readjust the timing. No big deal. Then is my portable CDI box I engineered to be used for any wheeler I have to make them have spark. BRAVO!

I just found your TH-cam channel.. Very pleased to find this I'm bringing a 300 Bayou back to life. I found an original Kehin carburetor to replace the Chinese copy that never worked well. It ran good for about 20 minutes and then died. Next step I'll check for spark.

Way to go Harvey. I'm not experienced enough to do that yet my mini hoard just Chinese four wheelers and a junkyard Honda 300ex. But thanks to Harvey the Junkyard Honda is now running. Now I'm going to try to get some kind of Chinese four wheeler to run I don't know what kind it is. I paid 75.00 dollars for it engine wasn't seized so I don't think I can go wrong .

Alright, same issue going thru now. At times I would have spark and very hard to start in the mornings. I'm looking toward the valves now. It's getting cold here in the south, so I hope to get it going and get it out of the wind. I've cleaned the carb twice and it idles and revs just fine. Just that initial start up in the am. So I'm going to looking into timing as well and I don't know about the CDI if the spark doesn't return. I enjoyed your information on this subject.
Amazing once again Harvey. I will always criticize paying too much for these kind of projects but will never doubt your abilities. Just in case it turns into a daily driver, I have a set of good used front tires for it. Keep the faith Harvey.

Have a bayou that sometimes has compression and will crank and run. Go to crank it the next time and it’s like it has no compression - sounds and turns over like the plug is out. Any ideas?

I never did see how you moved the upper timing sprocket to TDC to match the crankshaft TDC. Did I miss it???

Hey Harvey nice man I just picked up 3 Chinese quads for 200 got one going already but got a ? If I don't wanna order new wiring harness what all do I need cdi box , coil and solinoid to get it running minimum? Do I need the regulator? Or what excatly I watched your other videos was jw
You can get the whole wiring from wish about $40 the lot can't go wrong, then you could use that one to sort the next one, that's what I've done, not hard, Harvey has a couple that show how and which wires also, all the best to you and your loved ones

Is a 4-stroke motor takes four revolutions for one compression
The cab can be off on all the different strokes except the compression stroke is going to be top dead center while you're on the ignition stroke
Doesn't sound like it's that far off you might be on one of the other strokes
