- Tuning an 88mm LS Turbo Foxbody with Holley EFI on the Hub Dyno
Kevin has been a customer of mine for probably every bit of 10 years. he did a great job putting this car together. it made good power and has a ton left on the table.
im sure everybody will ask what changed as i realize it was never mentioned in the video. basically had a cylinder, maybe 2 that were intermittently not firing. car sounded dead nuts perfect with no sign of a missfire, dyno graph looked perfect as well. plugs even looked (mostly) normal.

I thought the initial reason it was down on power was because the Ford body was rejecting its transplant.
I saw the comment about a cylinder or 2 not firing intermittently, but what was the cause? Wires? I am interested as well what kind of boost? I have a very similar setup, same turbo, manifold, and intercooler.
Cars like that make such a great day of tuning!!!
What exactly is the engine in it and how many pounds of boost did you turn it up to to get the 1300hp. What fuel? Awesome build

Whats the engine set up
Nice job Joe. I've got fresh 454 in my 86 C10. 045 heads. Thinking about swapping cam & add turbo. What ur thought for 1000hp on cam n turbo size. I like lots torque too. Not sure my 045 heads can flow for 1000 HP. 7-800 for sure. Maybe reaching to far at 1000hp for flow on my 045s bbc. Thanks brother

What size exhaust pipe is on this car? I'm about to strap a 85mm bullseye turbo on my 370ci 5.3. I bought the holly cast turbo manifolds so I'm only feeding the turbo with a single 3". Im trying to figure out if I can step the 5" exhaust down to 4" so I can route it behind the passenger tire of my foxbody. My turbo guy said I'd choke the turbo up, but my thoughts are I'm only feeding it with a 3", so I don't know what it would matter.
This was 5” to 4” as well. I really want to do a back to back test with 5” and 4” downpipe to see what the difference is

There is. It’s an air to water built into the intake manifold

so, what was wrong? lol all this talk about the internet being wrong but you won't tell us. I would laugh if it was just a tuning issue. maybe I'm wrong but I thought that was the whole reason to get a car tuned by a tuner on a dyno in the first place. he kind of hinted that it was a timing issue.

@@JoeSimpsonAtTempest I am doing ls swap 6.0 gen 3 block and gen 4 pistons and rods. If I buy pistons and rods would it be able to make that kind of power or do I need crank as well? Crank from 6.0 is able to pull 1300 whp?

Question can you really All that car a Ford must stay anymore it's already theoretically it should be called a Chevy Mustang at this point seeing it's powered by Chev of if you took the Ford body off of ithe alphabet what would you be left with Basically a Chev That's what frustrates a lot of people when people say oh my Ford is better than your Chev it's still a Chev it's just got a Ford body on it basically What do you guys think My opinion if it was better why wouldn't it still have a Ford engine in it Raising BN is the LS is more convenient more options and cheaper to build
You can call it whatever you want. It’s just far cheaper to build the LS stuff than it is the ford stuff is the only reason people do the swaps to begin with
