Here in Canada I had an 89 GTR with 60kms around 2006. (15 year rule in Canada). Bought it with blown motor, fixed, sold again with blown motor less than a year later. It's always a fun drive, and will turn heads all day. I average 19mpg with regular driving in the city and spirited driving on the highway. Don't go to the dealership if you're out of warranty. Reputable shops can do just as good of a job, if not better, than the dealership's GTR techs, at half the price. The car's been out for a long time now, so any competent mechanic is able to do basic maintenance on it. My insurance is pretty damn good at $115 a month, at 25yo with 4 years on my license, and compared to other owners, my insurance is actually on the high side. Maintenance is not that expensive compared to other cars of this level, just avoid dealerships like the plague if you're out of warranty. It's like $1500-$2000 depending on the shops for the major 30k and 53-60k maintenance schedules.
Honestly buy a gtst type m and swap the rb26 in you’ll save yourself a ton of headache by doing that. If anyone shits on a gts-t they’ve never driven one, I’ll take my rb26 swapped r32 gts-t over the gtr all day. Not having the atessa system removes so many issues.
Back in 2009 when i was 15, R34 GTRs were 30-40k NZD. Now you won't even find a single one under 110k NZD. It's also rare nowadays to even see people driving R34 GTRS on the streets in NZ.
Most of the Fast and the Furious fan boys make that excuse. When I was growing up nobody around me except one person even knew what a Skyline was before 2003 except a childhood friend of mine it was hilarious because his dad had a R31 when they were stationed in Okinawa so he was the Skyline kid and I was the Supra kid imagine two twelve year old boys constantly at each other's throats over cars in early 2001 either one of us even knew what a turbo, RB26, or 2JZ was at the time 🤣🤣🤣

Montu Motors here in Tampa, Fl. They import skylines in all trims, and any other jdm car. They do all the paper work. Being a Florida resident, I would just have to buy the car and take it to the local dmv to get it registered 👌🏼👌🏼
Never thought I’d be in this position but I’m watching this because I have a real possibility of getting one and I want to make an educated decision, it still feels so unreal
Another con to just the RB motor is the oil pump is probably the worst designed pump of all JDM motors, race motors were built and the pump was first to be swapped. If anyone is going to try and make bigger power, start on bottom end oil pump/pickup
Fantastic video 👏👏 it was clear how much work went in to research and production for this one and it has not gone overlooked!! Much love. Keep up the killer videos and informative content
Lmao what? Not even the BNR34 had a few refinements being a newer chassis but it's not even close to being on a different level you have no idea what you're talking about 🤣🤣
ik the video is called gtR, but i would have loved to know more about the lower trim skylines, (HR34,ER34,4Door etc.) (btw 4 door ER34 probably my favorite car of all time)
I'm one of those guys that feels like he needs 99 GT-R R34 to live... So of course I had nothing but hate for the R35 for the longest time. So happy I grew out of it.
R32 or R35 are really the best options. R33 is bigger and heavier and not as nice looking. R34 is way overpriced. When people tell me they are gonna import one i laugh. They think 20k to 30k for one. 100k for an r34 if you're lucky.
The skyline didn’t garner the nickname Godzilla until the R33 and guys like Smokey Nagata gave it 1000+ horsepower and went 200+ mph on public roadway.
The R32 was the model that earnt the godzilla nickname after its dominance in group A racing in Australia. The Australian media then labelled it as "godzilla"
R33 or R34 hands down. But Good luck buying a GTR R34. My friend got a midnight purple R34 in Japan 4 years ago for about 45k. Now your need at least 60k and is a bit hard to find people willing to sell them. But hey if you got the cash DO IT !!!!! It really is a JDM GOD!!!!

@@UniqueHandles or someone that wants to stance their car so hard their suspension geometry is fried
@Xyd Xyd plenty of people, which is why they made a video for it after this.
6:30 Need I remind everyone about the Fast and the Furious OG, Leon's yellow R33 Skyline GT-R. A little shine goes a long way.
Montu Motors here in Tampa, Fl. They import skylines in all trims, and any other jdm car. They do all the paper work. Being a Florida resident, I would just have to buy the car and take it to the local dmv to get it registered 👌🏼👌🏼
Im looking at them and rbmotoring in Texas. I heard good things
I agree midnight purple is the best.
R33 is probably my favorite looks wise😍😍🤤🤤
It looks really nice!
Especially in stock with the original wheels... ❤
Never thought I’d be in this position but I’m watching this because I have a real possibility of getting one and I want to make an educated decision, it still feels so unreal
Happy belated 25th, Alex!
❤️
Another con to just the RB motor is the oil pump is probably the worst designed pump of all JDM motors, race motors were built and the pump was first to be swapped. If anyone is going to try and make bigger power, start on bottom end oil pump/pickup
So you want a 2013 Skoda Superb?
Please make that video
Fantastic video 👏👏 it was clear how much work went in to research and production for this one and it has not gone overlooked!! Much love. Keep up the killer videos and informative content
Hey thank you for the support! We are happy to hear you enjoyed!
R-34 is just a different level on the GTR line.
Lmao what? Not even the BNR34 had a few refinements being a newer chassis but it's not even close to being on a different level you have no idea what you're talking about 🤣🤣
They never mentioned the c110... just the c10, they produced gc110 gtr’s for a few months but they still did!!!
There was no love for the Kenmeri 🙄
ik the video is called gtR, but i would have loved to know more about the lower trim skylines, (HR34,ER34,4Door etc.)
(btw 4 door ER34 probably my favorite car of all time)
I'm one of those guys that feels like he needs 99 GT-R R34 to live... So of course I had nothing but hate for the R35 for the longest time. So happy I grew out of it.
the r33 is the best looking skyline imo...
Love all the GTRs and Skylines but theres something about that 1st generation that stands out the most to me maybe I'm just old
Nah I think the 1st gens are mad classic and slick. 🔥 😂
R32 or R35 are really the best options. R33 is bigger and heavier and not as nice looking. R34 is way overpriced. When people tell me they are gonna import one i laugh. They think 20k to 30k for one. 100k for an r34 if you're lucky.
I feel the same way about people who want JZX100's.
JZX90 is the best!
whatever you buy they all are money pit..... hope it worth the trouble for weekend car....
@@campkira since I have 3 weekend cars I guess it is. Lol
Your vids bring me so much happiness, I barely know much about cars but thankfully I learn tons thanks to you guys.
The skyline didn’t garner the nickname Godzilla until the R33 and guys like Smokey Nagata gave it 1000+ horsepower and went 200+ mph on public roadway.
^^^this! Probably the only person in this comment section who actually knows his stuff.
The R32 was the model that earnt the godzilla nickname after its dominance in group A racing in Australia. The Australian media then labelled it as "godzilla"
I literally gave a like (and I dont often like videos) simply because of the "Ope" in the beginning. Midwest represent! 😂
🤘🔥
Advantage of the R33 being underrated: It’s CHEAPER than the other Skyline GT-Rs
U forgot to yell "Lightning! Lightning!! Lightning!!!!"
⚡️⚡️⚡️😂
Getting my r35 this week! Couldn't be more excited!
