My first car was a 2003 WRX. Let me tell you, it forced me to learn how to work on cars real quick. Also learned a lot about how turbo systems, awd drivetrains, and manual transmissions work. It was 100% worth the headache and I would definitely own one again, once I can afford to put up with reliability issues again lol. @@R-SXX Need some friends to help you to be honest to get started. Usually the beginning is oil changes, simple stuff to start off with. You aren't gonna be able to take an engine apart completely within 3 weeks and reinforce it to tune it up to 500hp. It takes a LOT of time to understand. What i am doing now is checking out a select few cars and study what engine they have, what their common problems are and how to potentially fix them. Body repairs/rust removal, oil change and changing air filter for fun. My recommendation is get a cheap car you can goof around with and if you break it who cares its a shitbox.

I think I win. My first car was a 1991 Honda CRX Si. It's been 2 years since I bought the car and I haven't driving it once because it doesn't run and *everything* is broken(remove engine from car, rebuild entire transmission, entire suspension and am currently welding frame rust) . With the money I spend on repairs I could have bought a brand new car, lol. Worst decision I have every made in my life, but at the same time it's been an amazing learning experience.
My first car is a Mazda3 2016 Hatchback and I’ve just started laying money down it (aftermarket parts) and I’m falling in love it more and more everyday.
My first car was a 2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse gs with the 2.4 l engine and I know I probably know more about working on cars then most teens but I loved that car with a passion.

I agree with the MPG too. I grew up around the same time when gas was like 5.49 - 5.69 a galloon. Those were the days when people started shopping based on MPG because it was so expensive to fill up and if you got a higher end car that requires a 91 octane, it hurts so bad.

The Mustang's weird modern reputation seems to stem from the fact that the car isn't bad, it's just that a considerable number of drivers are stupid-ass teenage jerks.
The 3G Eclipse is hella reliable. I've had my car for 2 years now, I've beat on it for 30k miles so far and only had 1 check engine light in all that time! Car is SUPER easy to work on and maintenance is the key to reliability 👌🏼 I have I/H/E and tune amongst a list of other mods
In other words, if you really want it your gonna have to pay up. I had a two door Tahoe and sold it for 8k. KBB value was 4k, told the guy you want it you have to pay up.
Best first car is a Honda del Sol. Small, convertible, cool looking, easy to work on, eye-catching, and oh-so-much fun. I daily my childhood dream car, a 1g Mitsubishi GTO TT AWD and it's everything I had ever dreamed that it could be...but I still miss my del Sol.
S13 was my first car and it was great. The KA was enough power to learn how to properly control the car without getting into too much trouble from speeding tickets. The hatch is more practical than the coupe since the large storage area when the rear seats are folded down. Also as far as reliability goes, a NA KA is really hard to kill. BUT stock for stock the e36/e46 is more car for the money. Good luck

I drive an 05 Mustang GT Premium in Manual.... well I'm wishing I saw this video sooner because I'm dead smack in the middle of that insurance hike age range and this IS my first car. For anyone who is looking into getting a mustang, a couple things to note. 1) For the love of God, don't get your dream car as your first car. I can't sleep at night unless I'm within walking distance of it 2) The gas milage is terrible. Mine has a rune in it from the previous owner and despite my best efforts, nearly stock I cannot get it above 13.4 mpg. Mind you, I live in a city so there's plenty of stop and go. You will be getting hell every day at your entry level job and are expendable. Do yourself a favor and get a fuel efficient car so you can save up in case you get kicked out of your job 3) You are expected to race EVERYONE and if you don't already have mods on your car, you're seen as a poser. I personally hate this, but it's still fun to race around with completely random strangers. Just know that if you drive a stick shift like me, you're at a disadvantage right out of the gates because most people (at least in my area) are driving boosted WRX's, 10 speed automatic Challengers, or some other fast car in automatic. If you are going up against a behemoth, know you will need to drop a gear before you will stand a chance of keeping up with them. 4) Don't drive a red car if you plan on racing in the street. Go for silver or white. No one will see you because you don't stand out. This has been my personal experience shared with you all and I hope you can learn from it.
Monster Conrad Luckily it’s white, automatic, and AWD, so I’m not doing too bad for a start. Only problem is that it’s not modded and won’t be modded for quite some time, as I don’t have a job, and just started college. Can’t exactly afford to do anything to it right now.

Gas is fine obviously since it’s just a 2.0 but still goes pretty well for being stock and all. I drive my Mustang every single day. I use it both to get to work and just to make a ride. Luckily I acquired a lot of experience how to control the car both on dry and wet/snow tarmac - never made any accident. And yes, that's my first car :) I think the most important thing has been already said in film - the problem is not a car, the problem are testosteron, lack of imagination if you hit throttle pedal etc. For responsible owners, whose main goal is to be happy of possesing such fabulous masterpiece, Mustang can be the best (even first) car to own. I'm pretty sure that mine (2007 4.6L V8 GT) is indeed the best one I've could ever imagined. God bless Mustangs and their drivers :)
Short Answer: There is no bad first car to own. Always start with a beater. Also the reason you don't see eclipse's is because they suffer the same fate as the evo's. 4g63 problems. I can't remember the last time I've seen anything mitsubishi on the road or at show's
Its quite a shame you don't see them almost at all (1g/2g) But I don't quite know what you mean by engine problems? I daily drive a 97 eclipse GSX running 20psi on a borg Warner 56mm turbo, stock internals other than head studs, I'm making 380awhp with no problems, and the engine has 135k miles. I love this engine and it has been nothing but good to me, as long as I keep up with maintenance (as with any high horsepower application) it will run great. Not trying to sound toxic, just curious if you know something I don't, and if I should be worried haha.

For anyone who is looking into getting a mustang, a couple things to note.
1) For the love of God, don't get your dream car as your first car. I can't sleep at night unless I'm within walking distance of it
2) The gas milage is terrible. Mine has a rune in it from the previous owner and despite my best efforts, nearly stock I cannot get it above 13.4 mpg. Mind you, I live in a city so there's plenty of stop and go. You will be getting hell every day at your entry level job and are expendable. Do yourself a favor and get a fuel efficient car so you can save up in case you get kicked out of your job
3) You are expected to race EVERYONE and if you don't already have mods on your car, you're seen as a poser.
Welp, I recently got a Dodge Charger SXT AWD as my first car, and I can definitely agree with almost everything you’ve said here.
Monster Conrad Luckily it’s white, automatic, and AWD, so I’m not doing too bad for a start. Only problem is that it’s not modded and won’t be modded for quite some time, as I don’t have a job, and just started college. Can’t exactly afford to do anything to it right now.

I didn't know they came AWD, but stock is significantly more reliable so you definitely don't have to worry about a tune sucking up all your gas
I got a 2017 blue 2.0T camaro as my first car. As he says in the video about visuals or whatever you get used to it over time. I’ve been driving for less than a year and I’m completely use to it and love driving it. It comes with its perks but also comes with its downfalls. Gas is fine obviously since it’s just a 2.0 but still goes pretty well for being stock and all. But I get compliments and some crap too for it but I still love it and I agree with your list lol, also sucks when you have v8s pull up and you know you can’t stand a chance 😂

I’m also a young guy & I’m still getting that pricing. It’s all good, and with regards to “noise”, just don’t straight pipe it and you should be good!
@@QuinnWillBaker Thank you so much for your help, litterally. This made me more confident into getting one this week! I cant wait for the upgrade, from my current 05 Mustang.
My first car was a Mustang GT no issue owning it and it was more fun to drive than my current CTS V
Lucky
Spoiled kid
Andrew Berndt jealous kid
Well first real car I got after driving a Camry for about a year was a new Mustang they can be good for those responsible enough or have no over inflated egos.
Where did you live? Somewhere it doesn't snow i'm guessing.
1. Audi A4 1.9 TDI from 1996 with 450.000 km (280.000 miles) on the clock, from personal experience
"So u want a foxbody " Alex show some luv to one of the fastest platform in automotive history
enrique carcamo I agree ☝️
Hell yesss
A fox body is probably the best rwd v8 oldschool first car, stock they aren’t too quick so no risk of crashing
Plus after you finish being 17 and stupid (or not lol) there is a huge aftermarket that isn't too expensive, it's an amazing platform, and so long as you have the HO 5.0 you have a pony ready to run with a good 500 ponies in a less than 3k lb car. Not speaking from experience or anything...
"Back in my day shit was 5 dollars a gallon"
Welll that's the reality once again lmfao
Getting there thanks to Beijing Biden!
@@MisterMikeTexas beijing biden 😂😂😂😂😂lmfao
@@MisterMikeTexas Rofl Man when I got my JGC it was $35 for a full tank, now it's $50.
My 99' Volvo V70 was at least $86 back in 08' during the George W Bush days (with an 18 gallon tank, mind you). Gas prices are not that bad right now, unless you're in Cali. If you are, then everything's expensive as hell.
Thanks for posting my bagged and boosted '18 S550! I daily it btw! :) 6:58
Slammed Stangs awesome car!
I may get one, how's the gas mileage?
Super underrated but a really good first car is a Saab 9-3. Fast and cheap.
True, A downpipe and a tune and your making pretty good power for dirt
Bump, I have a 9-3 Aero Sportcombi and love tf out of it.
Caffina 9-5 is also really great. Saab in general is a great brand, Volvo is also great
surprised to see this suggested but yea they are very decieving cars. theres actually a saab aero thats a wrx wagon with saab quality interior, sick. kinda like (certain) volvo's, just badass family sleepers.
@@chreeezy lol just commented that but couldnt remember the model name.
I felt like he pointed right towards me when he started with, " Yea I wanted 1992 3000gt vr4 red for my first car". Then proceed to look into the camera, I was like, " Really man... dont call me out like that at the start of the video". LMAO
I saw an eclipse last Sunday and we ended up racing lmao
I see the daily in cali
I mean a 4g63 model eclipse. Not the regular eclipse
Its quite a shame you don't see them almost at all (1g/2g)
But I don't quite know what you mean by engine problems? I daily drive a 97 eclipse GSX running 20psi on a borg Warner 56mm turbo, stock internals other than head studs, I'm making 380awhp with no problems, and the engine has 135k miles. I love this engine and it has been nothing but good to me, as long as I keep up with maintenance (as with any high horsepower application) it will run great.
Not trying to sound toxic, just curious if you know something I don't, and if I should be worried haha.
I live in Wisconsin just like Alex, and I have no idea what he meant when he said he never sees them, I see 10+ a day
This guy looks like he could play the next spiderman
Read it twice can’t figure out if it’s a compliment or an insult 😂😂
The a pillar on 2010 camaro’s actually are a big problem I have almost pulled out in front of a car because the massive a pillar blocked it
My first car was a 1999 ford escort ZX2. Those headlights were so cool to me, wrecked it and got 2001 of the same car but In green, to a 2002 single cab tacoma, to a 2015 subaru outback, to my now baby 2019 civic hatchback
Me: *Looks at car keys*
Still happy about buying a r32 gts-t as first car. 😅
I wish
How is it? Been thinking about getting one for my first car.
- 2JZ x RB26 - lol I got a rhd mk3 supra very fun
- 2JZ x RB26 - instead ^
You must be rich to afford that and the insurance on it.
I’m going to college with a 2002 mustang as my first car paying for it with a job at McDonald’s only working weekends.
Definitely agree with the cops Target you like a magnet part with the WRX. But still the best car I’ve owned.
First car with my name on it was an F30 328i. Had it for 3 weeks and it's been at a service center for the past week. Love the car though!
I fell in love with my 1995 Mustang Gt until I saw how damn clean they can be built full but still get gapped by a lot of cars
Any care can gap any car if you through enough money on it so I wouldnt worry too much about :D
I’ve had 2 240sx’s one didn’t run and the other only ran for a month it still looks good sitting at my house tho (;
I am on my 4th and final one
jesus
That non-moving pile of potential still sitting in your driveway? How much to buy that beautiful paperweight?
To be fair 240's are beautiful 😂
Mike Pyrtko sorry bud not for sale it’s a work in progress
First car: 2001 Toyota Camry
Second car: 2008 G37S 6mt
For my first car I bought a 06 vr6 porsche cayenne. I lucked out it big time, it has tinted windows pure black fresh paint And straight piped. Also 22 inch rims.
