i love my 106, on side scan is recommended going to the 1120 for side scan instead of 455, you’ll get better detail, also watch max gortons video on the gt54 settings, i run his settings and my unit is crispy

I’ll check them out. I find 1120 darkens my screen quite a bit.

@@InstinctBassin you have to turn the brightness to 100% (auto med) and gain 65-90 depending on the day

@@DiegoMcElveny Thanks - I usually keep my brightness at or near 100, which should be the same as gain on SideVu if I'm not mistaken. I believe "gain" is only used for 2d and for FFS, whereas Brightness is used in the other modes.

I’m going to switch from MinnKota trolling motor to the Garmin Krackin and get a Garmin for Livescope only since I have a new Lowrance 12” up front for mapping. Which unit would you suggest for that ? Just Livescope I’ve seen this 106 at Scheels for under 1000.00 with no transducer then also saw the transducer and box for 1700.00.

If you’re going to have other Garmin devices, like the TM, or maybe another fish finder down the line, then I’d go with either the 106sv or 126sv, depending on budget, space, etc. The 106sv for $999 is an excellent deal. If you are ONLY ever going to use it for Livescope, then you could go with a GPSMAP 1022. But that unit won’t be able to network with Echomap units, so it’s better for a stand alone option. It’s also not touchscreen, which is personal preference. If it were me, I’d just go with the 106sv.

Hey Rob, I am installing the 106SV on my front deck and was wondering what kind of mounting hardware you use. The Ram Mount I am using is the heavy duty one. Should I use bolts with lock nuts and washers or just large screws?

Fairly beefy self tapping screws should be fine. That’s what is holding my new double mount on my bow, and it’s holding a 93 and 73 sv. Make sure they’re stainless steel.

this video validated my decision. im purchasing my first ever boat and i decided on this unit because its 1k for the combo and then i can add livescope once i figure out where imma mount it on my pontoon boat (party barge 20) im glad the clarity is pretty good. hows it do locating fish?

It’s great, but like anything will take practice and time on the water.

@@InstinctBassin oh for sure. I dont expect to be a master boater or anything for the first couple years quite honestly. Just knocking stuff off my bucket list. Im stoked.
