I just got back from a Canadian fishing trip and wanted to thank you for giving me the settings for my Garmin 73SV. Never before could I actually see the fish and bottom structure so clear. I saw schools of baitfish clearly. I saw Walleye on the bottom. I saw suspended fish in weeds. My fish arches have never been so defined as last week. Keep up the good work buddy.
Always enjoy your videos. I don't get a lot of time on the water to learn the fine points of setting up my electronics so I find your presentations very helpful. Thank you
man it would be great if i could find a video just like this for my uhd2 73sv unit!!!!! new to garmin and the tech of it, a step by step like you have done here would be priceless...HELP...
Just trying to figure out what I need/want, getting ready to retire soon and have located a 21' center console to start checking out the Santee lakes I used to roam on with my Daddy back in the late 70s, early 80's. Back then all we had was a flasher, lol. Just Subscribed also.
Couple ways, you can synch your active captain app on your phone to your chartplotter or take a blank micro sd card, 32GB or less then Google “Garmin marine software updates” and follow the instructions.
Thanks for that 👍 Just updated the software and my charts a few days ago and the "Benelux and Germany West" chart got corrupted somewhere between the Active Captain and the Echomap UHD 95SV, Garmin recommended that I use Garmin Express to update the charts for UK and Ireland + Benelux and Germany west. Downloaded to a SD card now and will try updating again when I get back to the boat.
I have seen the advertisements and videos, looks like a good product except I’m not fond of the connections. I prefer solder or crimp personally. Have a great day!
Thanks for your videos! Unlike your Echomap UHD 93sv, mine is 74sv (V. 29.00). On your videos, the Menu is located on the right side of the screen, which allows you to change the settings and immediately see the result. Unfortunately, on my - 7’, the menu takes up the entire screen, which is very inconvenient. Is it possible to fix this, maybe the reason is in the updated version of the software (V. 29.00), or the reason is in the smaller diagonal??? I am grateful for any hint!
@@DoubleTFishing in this video your settings menu for sonar is on the right side of the screen, my 93sc uhd settings menu takes up the whole screen. Is there a way to move the menu to the side? Or is it on the side because of your other unit you used for this tutorial?
How do you manage how the Chart Display displays the name of the lake? I'm finding that if I have it set on High Detail to see all the contour lines, the Lake Name is repeated all over the lake and it covers up too much of the display. Is there a way to minimize the Lake Name detail while showing all the contour lines? This is with last year's Echomap 126sv with the built in Navionics chart. The repetitive Lake Names are also evident on the Active Captain app when Chart Detail is in the "Most" and between Most and Normal settings.
Just took my new 93sv out for the first time and keep getting transducer not connected. Brand new unit. I have done the update. Any ideas on where to start? Thanks for all you do.
Once in awhile there is some residual coating on the pin connectors. Pull the unit out of the cradle and take a look at the pins in the back to see if any are bent. Then look at the holes in the back of the unit to make sure they are clear. Unplug your transducer cable from the back of the cradle and do the same. When you go to plug them back in do it a couple times to “wipe” the pin contact surface for a better connection. Try that and see if it helps
I just had a new 106SV and 126SV Ultra installed on my Bass Cat and did the updates. Do I need to leave the micro SD card in the units all the time? I just switched over to Garmin from Lowrance so still figuring things out. My Lowrance unit which was an HDS 10 Gen2 I left the Navionics card in all the time. Thanks for any help. Bill
Some turn their screen facing the bow of the boat which reversed the left and right on side vu. If the screen faces the transom just leave it at the default setting. Have a happy Thanksgiving
Yep, I literally came here to edit and say nvm. You wouldn't happen to have a echomap 7 or 9 uhd2 vs uhd on the water comparison in the works? There aren't any decent videos of even just the uhd 2 93 on the water. Only found 1 and it was too short to see anything useful.
So I have my uhd 93sv set to your spreadsheet settings. It was crisp clear, looked fantastic. All of a sudden, the resolution went horrible. I can barely make out a rock. All connections are tight. 13.7 volts. The unit is virtually useless right now. Any ideas as to what could be causing this?
The brightness reverts back to Auto every time you go in and out of a sonar screen. You need to adjust it each time. Also double check you have the ZOOM functions turned off except magnify. Lastly select a lower frequency if available to see if that clears up the image. Pull the unit out of the cradle and check the pin connections. The most likely might be the actual transducer got hit, came loose changing its position out of level.
Hey, I have a Garmin Echomap UHD 73sv, the settings for side view will not lock in. I can expand them out to where I want them, say 70 ft and the setting immediately return to some other footage. Its inconsistent as to where it goes, at times its 20 ft then its 30 ft can you help me with that please. The transducer is mounted on the trolling motor.

I have the garmin echo map 106sv. I bought a mount and power cord. When I push the power key to shut off the sonar, without transducer , it does not say shut off sonar? So I am having problems to set up

You can try using a different “map orientation”. I use the course up selection. I’ve been told adding a Garmin heading sensor and associated hardware helps considerably. Have a great day!
What you will need is called the SteadyCast heading sensor. You can’t just plug it into your unit though. You will also need a NMEA 2000 starter kit, a power cable for the NMEA 2000 backbone, and possibly a longer drop cord. I just installed one of these on my boat. It’s really a game changer for your waypoints and maps.

Sorry, just open up the side vu screen then go to the menu button in the bottom right. When that menu pops up go to sonar settings and at the bottom is advanced.
