Had a great day testing the rig, my mate @JAEDITS came to help film so I could focus on driving and showing you guys the vehicle, been pumping out the vids and will go back to a weekly/fortnightly schedule soon cheers 🍻
great testing, mate! One of the first real tests which you can only do in case you own the vehicle and not have just borrowed it from the dealership. So quite impressing what the stock 70 can do. Fuel cons will stabilize after 5000 km I would assume, so did my J 78 V6 petrol, came from nearly 20l down to 15l. Looking forward to your future experience. Cheers, mate!
It’s a bloody good time slinging in the dirt. First thing I did when I got back to the outback was put water upto the bottom of the windscreen for 20meters haha. Bloody glad I got out 🤙🏻
What a rig, but, i've got to tell yah, at 12:45 I was sure you were going to tip over. Awesome stuff, enjoy the rig to the max...and the working handbrake.
Bèst ute in the world right now. This v8 is streets ahead of the 2.8 or anything else except in a very few applications the 4.0l v6 might be better in anti-poaching for speed in response situations in Africa. Still excellent in that role too. Perfect choice for your aplication and just a beautiful machine all round.
I like it, pretty basic still, it's got android auto, apple carplay which is nice, so everything you need is right there. No sat nav, maps or anything...
Got a 2020 79series dual cab first thing I broke was the number plate too...have kept mine stock at the moment until warranty is up. They are plenty capable in stock form just those tyres are not that good, staked and punctured mine twice. The ute will get better fuel and rev better after 2k to 5k km once she's broken in a bit, gearbox also loosens up a bit. Enjoy ,love mine.
My handbrake on my 79 holds tight even on hills in reverse (I still leave it in gear). People who have handbrake issues on 79 series Landcruiser's 1. Don't know how to correctly adjust them. 2. Have the wrong radius handbrake shoes or worn out shoes or severely worn rear rotor handbrake drums surfaces. 3. All of the above. I do have some Superior Engineering dog bones that increase holding power over the stock items & I am running Bendix shoes on DBA T4 rotors. I think the stock Toyota Handbrake shoes might be better & grippier than aftermarket.
I'd buy this over the new wide ass tacoma any day. You people outside the U.S. are very lucky to have such amazing vehicles while we get wider crap, with no gain in wheel travel, and with shocks on the back of the seats (wtf wants that.)
Here's my comments : a) Work diligently, save your money, invest wisely and don't waste your money buying accessories just because of popular culture. b) By all means upgrade the carrying capacity of your springs but you don't need a height increase. It's not cooler to be higher up. You don't need to do what everyone else does - it doesn't make it right. c) You don't need orange plastic boards nor a special exhaust - What you need is a compressor and ARB Speedy Seal Kit. Anything else comes after rule one which is Self Help. You can't go anywhere if you can't pump up a tyre and keep it inflated. d) What you need is a reliable property ute. All that bling and other crap is a waste of your money. e) Don't get caught in the accessory trap. As Oscar Wilde said "Be yourself, everyone else is taken". f) Things you might like to consider are : Australian made Halogen spotlights, snorkel upgrade, raised breathers and a Sun Visor. Comfort and safety should be high on your list of priorities. g) As for tyres, you'll be glad you have the factory tyres when you need to throw the anchors out to pull up for a steer or horse. You don't need chunky large diameter tyres and wheels. Forget it. You can upgrade to a LT radial later. Keep the pattern for highway. It's safer. Here's what's important in life - Health, Family, Freedom, Integrity. Oh, and you're better off alone outside the Cult of Landcruiser - It'll only take your money and sanity. We have cruisers too but you don't need to spend money to impress the share holders of ARB and Blackrock.
You watched the walkthrough vid? As I said earlier I'm not big on over the top mods, I like good suspension, good tyres, an engel fridge, sealed canopy for tools etc, good lights for night time driving, a swag and maybe a few other things. I'm running it fairly stock for a while, don't need to run out and buy tyres or suspension right now. Increase in height is good for me, more clearance is gold. I can't remember if you commented on my walkthrough vid, but go watch that if you haven't. I talk about mods and not needing to buy all the stuff, cheers
I'd hate to say it as a Aussie and 4x4 person. But ppl like that have tracks closed off for everyone else too enjoy. How hard is it too either go to the tip or just fair dinkum f@#king clean up after yourself. Sorry for the language but it really annoying
@@OutbackOffroadNT it is mate and I'm afraid that when my wife and l retire the places we want to go to will be closed off. But l enjoy that vid mate 👍👍
Oh dear. I feel sorry for you mate. Imagine all the awesome vehicles you could have bought with that much money. I guess life is about lessons. You gotta go through the shit to get to the good stuff. Hopefully Toyota will dis-continue those silly old tractors soon and we can all move on. Looking forward to seeing what you replace it with. Great video, interesting to see what it can do without spending another $40k, love the information and details of what you’re doing stock standard.

Such a beautiful rig, love the new front end.

This is all about this vehicle. It just do perfect on its original format.

awesome 79, these do most things in stock form, it is part of it building a 79 up to what you want💪

Beautiful. Expecting nothing less from a 70 series😁
She's a tidy rig!

Take the Ute out through Titjikala and to Chambers Pillar and then back road to Finke and back, that would be a good day trip.
Excellent suggestion mate, spot on 👌

Nice
Sounds louder than my 1973 modle tractor
9:40 pretty common, that's the wrong spot for the plate. Move the spare on the tray and replace the plate

What’s the go with the radio aerial, I haven’t seen a pwr up/down button in the new ones??

It's still got the antenna you can pull out but no pwr buttons as far as I know mate
Hi good videos, waiting on mine dual cab ,say how much was the bullbar.
Thanks, around 3 grand
Hey mate you can do a little mod to the handbrake and it never needs adjusting mine has lasted years 👍
My handbrake has been fine, and gets adjusted at each service back to proper tight. What mod have you done mate?
@@OutbackOffroadNT apparently they weld a little bit extra on the mechanism and she’s all good to go but didn’t do it myself ??

The gap between bar and wheel arch/body panel is triggering my OCD. Looks like it is not mounted right? (Or just angle of camera?) 🤯
Damn... Why'd you have to point that out 😂😂 I can't unsee it now and have the same ute and same bar on order!
Haha! Yeah there's a gap, doesn't bother me

Why is everyone acting like this utes different it’s just a facelift, this is still a v8
2.8 L 4 cylinder is engine used by Prado as well isn't it?
Yes, my LandCruiser in the video is the v8 👍
What’s the plan build it or keep it stock??
I'll fit a canopy in the next couple weeks, and slowly mod the rig, but nothing crazy
Is this the 2.8 engine, the sound in the cruiser does not sound like the 2.8 Hilux motor, idles almost like an V8, sound wise
It's the 4.5L V8 TD
Yeah its the v8 mate, cheers

@@OutbackOffroadNT I'm glad SOMEONE gets to enjoy it. Maybe I will in 25 years when we can import it.
What are the build plans mate?
Nothing ridiculous, you'll have to wait and see 👀
Are the handbrakes known for giving out?
It's a bit of a running joke with these. People always complain about it, I honestly don't have any troubles with them, though.
is that leaf on the front?
Coil
I have a RAV and if I double lock the car the lights turn off.
