The same thoughts I had ,and put them on my 2024.5 ford ranger wildtrak with air bags
I run basically the same setup with the same suspension but with a 1800mm canopy and my shackles sit the same even after 6 months 🤷🏻♂️ so who knows
Interesting mate, I reckon mine has settled a little already after a couple thousand km's of bush driving with varying loads.
Bfg kao2 not great on wet street bitumen but great on gravel
Here in Victoria they say it’s illegal to run extended shackles.?
Interesting.
People say good things about the 2.8, maybe it is better than the V8, but its way too early to say if its reliable long term or how much it can be tuned. I'm not a fan of the new headlights but she's still a sexy animal, still a solid rig, you should get your TC box painted to match, that sandy taupe is a good look. Also the Auto is just not 70 series and I've heard it won't hold gears if you go up to 35s. End of an era I think, with the new ute taxes coming we might only have 3-6yrs left before they're gone for good, so they'll probably keep their value even better than the older V8s if they stay on the road.
Great vid Brother. Love the knowledge you shared on this one. Definitely sound like the suspension is worth having a crack hey. Thanks for sharing Brother.
Cheers mate, yeah I think it'll be good gear.
So these are gas shocks right? Why not go for iron man pro foam . They run low pressure and rebuildable. I think Ironman underrated in my opinion
These are rebuildable, I prefer mono tube single wall shocks compared to twin wall like Ironman. I've ran ironman before and they were ok.
@@OutbackOffroadNT thanks mate I appreciate your thoughts
Hey mate tried out those tyre pressures you did on a previous vid and what a difference thanks for the tips
That's awesome mate, no worries at all glad I could help.
Greetings from Venezuela🇻🇪 How are the Terrain Tamers🇦🇺 2-inch Parabolic Leaf Spring for the Land Cruiser 79 🛻🦾
G'day mate, I don't have them but I hear good things about them.
Great video mate 👍👍🍺
Cheers Benny!
hey mate what size and offset rim are you now running?
16x8 0 offset front, neg 22 rear.
Enjoy your vids. I'm trying to decide between the MT64 & BP51s. Dont mind spending the extra $1200 if they're worth it. What do you think now having had both? Is it a big advantage being able to get the rebound & compression just right? I'll be towing a snall van with a 79 single cab.
Thanks mate, look tbh I can't really say as I've only had these MT64'S on for bugger all, I don't want to give you wrong info. What sort of driving and terrain will you be driving? The BP's are great but not entirely necessary imo.
@@OutbackOffroadNT thks, we do a fair bit of off-road & corrugations etc but we don't hammer down the tracks as we tow a single axle offroader.
Right well, you would definitely benefit from either the BP'S or the MT's purely because they are big robust shocks with plenty of oil to combat heat and shock fade on rough stuff, eg corrugations. Just get those spring rates spot on for your weight and make sure your running the correct shocks with the right valving to match the springs. I'd honestly say it's really up to you and which shock you prefer mate. Maybe the BP'S would be of benefit to you travelling slower on rough stuff the ability to fine tune the compression and rebound would be great.
@@OutbackOffroadNT thks again, if I go the MT64s will the valving be adjusted by ARB to suit the springs, or is that only possible with the BP51s?
Generally the shocks will be matched to the spring rates, so say you ask for 600kg constant leaf packs and front coils to suit the weight of a bar, the correct shocks will be fitted with the springs
Well if the new front bar weighs a bit, it'll be an atd bar, right?
🤫 Some of their bars are bloody nice aye. Big dollars though...
Their weights aren't that bad for the 2 poster, 75kgs vs say TJMs at 77. ARBs is 50kgs but doesn't include a winch cradle like the other 2.
@OutbackOffroadNT I do like their bars, I'm not made of money though. Not into the double side rails at all.
Yeah fair enough, I reckon their 2 poster on the v8 scoop model looks the biz, dunno about these new models though, seems hard to find the right bar that looks good.
Nice one.! I hope you gave them a tune up about the wheel nuts, that’s bullshit. Should only be 110nm, can stretch and damage wheel studs hitting them with a rattle gun that much.
Yeah I'm wild about that hey, this is half the reason I like doing my own work.
@@OutbackOffroadNT oath bro ! I’m the exact same. Either way , sweet as vid though 🤙
Did ARB fit a front sway bar spacer kit.
Sure did mate.
Good vid mate 👍🏻
Thanks 👍
Nice setup. Sure you will like it. 45k on the clock already? Wow
Not hard to do in NT
Yeah majority of those km's is for work! Bloody poor old girl clocking up the mileage.
Impressive amount of research. Nothing like getting all the facts and specs on hand for an informed decision. I'm so surprised how much the BP-51s have gone up in price. I considered them 2yrs ago when I refreshed my 80 Series suspension, but decided against them due to price (plus I don't do hard wheeling - more a tourer and do not tow). I noticed you're getting fancy (ie. good) at your editing. Onya mate. 👍
Cheers mate, I did like the BP51 setup but yes very expensive.
What bullbar is coming mate? I'm trying to decide on one atm.
That's a big secret mate 🤫🤣 nah look my ARB deluxe bar is sitting in town, but I kinda want to change it, I'm not sure yet.
Can you get a cover for the rod? The exposed rod concerns me a bit?
Rear shocks have a guard just like the BP51 setup, fronts don't really need it.
Nice vid and info. Did you look at their new parabolic / airbag system? A couple of grand dearer but apparently a great ride.
Cheers mate, I'm not a fan of airbags, may make a video on this subject 🤔 ive looked at parabolics but don't like the low leaf and yeah they are expensive.
@@OutbackOffroadNT cheers, the ARB parabolics which are new on the scene don't have that bottom load leaf like other brands, instead they use their own designed airbags, which are interesting as they have an internal progressive bump stop so can be run flat.
Your bloody right mate I totally forgot about that, I did have a yarn to ARB about this setup, but because the air bags have to be run with the parabolics I wasn't really interested.
@@OutbackOffroadNT yeah I get the concern with airbags. For you, is it more they could fail or that they may cause chassis issues? Or something else.
Chassis issues mate, adding something that wasn't engineered to be there, in my boilermaker days I repaired a few telstra and power and water patrols running airbags with bent chassis. I also really like all things to be as simple as possible, and airbags can be a suspension limiter in regards to movement/flex. I'm a big believer of getting your spring rates bang on for the weight your carrying and not relying on pumping up air bags to counter heavy weight. I understand everyone is different though and may tow etc...
1:37 OME not ARB right?
Same
ARB owns and produces OME products.
@@OutbackOffroadNT 👍
Top stuff mate! I got my MT64’s fitted yesterday as a pre rego GVM upgrade of 3780kg 400kg parabolics with airbags in the rear. Gets registered next week sometime so haven’t driven it yet. Did you change the steering damper? If not that’ll make a huge difference to the wandering you talk about. Did you go airbags as well? Tomorrow the 9/6/24 ARB will release the MK2 Summit Bar for the new 70 Series, that’s the bar in waiting for 🤙🏻
what did that set you back mate, and did they fit offset bushes?
@@markh6676 6.8k for the GVM upgrade, also comes with a castor kit.
@@ARCHIES_79_LC thanks mate, interesting, my quote is 7.2k with castor kit but NO gvm upgrade, that's with 800kgs paras though. What was their price for the 400kg paras, the 800s are $790 each.
@@markh6676 $555 Each for the 400kg parabolics.

I am watching this again because got a phone call from my Toyota dealership today after 26 months. And it is a great news.
Hi mate, bit off this topic. Did Toyota leave the plastic radiator protector on when they did the bull bar or add a steel one ? I just put a TJM bullbar on mine and noticed the factory radiator protector is just flimsy plastic, a rock or stump would destroy the radiator base, I've ordered a steel protection plate. I followed your earlier advice and put a gsl guard on rear locker actuator. Cheers
Yeah mate mine is still plastic, i kept my 2008 plastic for years before swapping it out. The diff lock guard is a must imo.
Bro Novak here I reckon you did a pretty good job for DIY especially that you usually don't do wiring it looks great 👍🏽
Cheers bro, I enjoyed installing it. So far it's been a great system.
I had Maxxis Buckshot m/t on my BT50 when I brought it pretty worn down and noisy just got a set of Mickey Thompson Baja legend exp so much better than what I had and quiet time to go bush in NZ
I heard the new one is the walk past model. You walk past it and keep going You'll never see a farmer with one of those This will be the Toyota that lets them stand down. And I love toyota's
I've done 45,000 km with it mainly for remote cattle station work, love it. Glad to be back in another v8.
Nice vid bro. I’ve got the same box and battery (without the charger though as I had a red arc) and I got a Victron shunt to monitor battery (as the display is only volts which isn’t accurate), the shunt is a very good bit of kit. It can be mounted inside the lid of the box, just take the divider out and create some space, and divider should screw back on. Cheers !
Cheers mate, yeah I'll see how I go for now, may add something like that down the track.
Great video mate, you’ve confirmed this is the exact setup I’m going to get!! Bloody love it
Much appreciated mate, thankyou. I'm stoked with the set-up so far! I'm sure it'll work for you.
Mate, awesome job and explanation. Sure you weren't a sparky in a previous life?! I've got a dual (under bonnet) system, but next fourby is gonna have a setup just like yours. Great stuff again. Really enjoying all your vids mate. Thanks. 👍👏🍻
Haha thanks mate! Yeah I've had under bonnet systems before, they worked fine, but I'm really determined to leave the engine bay as factory as possible. It doesn't take much to have that under bonnet area clogged up with mods! And this way it's all in one area, neat and clean.
Looking good. I agree those rib nuts are excellent
