The Cruiser store contacted me on instagram with the following information below regarding the seals, this makes sense now and I really appreciate them reaching out, legends. Gday Mate! Just wanted to reach out and say thank you for the feedback of our door seal kit. We were completely shocked to see the gap it left! Unfortunately, it seems toyota have changed the way all the plastic sits around the door frame on the new facelift as it is DEFINITELY not meant to look like that! In previous models, the vehicle just had a simple pinch weld (like our seals but without the bulb) so there was no gap or difference left as a result of installing our product. Unfortunately, we haven't had a chance to test it on a new model and wrongly assumed it would have been the same as years prior. We will be updating the website to reflect that this product is not suitable for the new 2024 facelift 70 series as the finished result is terrible! Ill follow this up with some pics of our 2023 which has the old style interior. We would like to go ahead and refund your order, can you tell us your name or order number? Cheers Brayden
I've got the new 78 and actually no wind noise through doors, the 78 and single cab are apparently same door. After watching this vid I pressure washed the seal and no water gets in so therefore no wind noise should get in either. Anyways the tyres probably make more noise. Cheers
Yeah I've never had a drama with door seals on Cruisers, I wanted to try it out because apparently you can minimise wind noise with these seals. Like I said in the vid, if what I'm led to believe is true adding these seals helps with noise. I don't really understand either because the seals don't let dust or water in 🤷♂️
Surely there has to be a neater way hey Brother. That gap is rubbish. I reckon if rather the wind noise to be honest. Thanks heaps for sharing this. I nearly pulled the trigger on buying these a couple of weeks ago Look forward to seeing what you do. If I find something I’ll let you know Cheers Brother 🤙
Yeah mate, It won't be staying like this, there's no way. I'll come up with something. I'd rather keep the factory seal and add something neat. Yeah cheers mate, there's a better way for sure.
Such a great wealth of information. Wish I'd had that in 2019. I invested in the safari armax package and i recommend that unless one is towing all the time, better $ spent on rear axle width correction for handling. Looking forward to seeing how your 79 works for you.
I was eventually getting around to buying that kit and definitely won’t be buying it now. I’m interested to see what solution you come up with mate. Thanks for sharing 🤙🏻
You are the only TH-camrs with new V8. I would not worry. But just know. If you need to know any further details Im always in your comments etc. But im trying to avoid people like yourself of not being able to identify an issue. If it was not for my bros LC79 i would have ignored it.
A bead of silicone might work. Yeah I don’t like that gap…cos you’d think the manufacturers would make it so it covers correctly, is it maybe a small change from the older 70s?
I'm going to chuck the factory seal back on I think, and try to come up with something to help seal it better. You could definitely run a bead of silicon, I want to come up with something more permanent and neat.
@@OutbackOffroadNT it’s worth a bit of time and effort you only need to target the big flat areas it so satisfying when you close the doors not having a tinny sound .
Honestly, these seals are full of shit and don't do a damn thing which I mentioned in a vid after this one, the point was to try them and see what the results were, however I will say that perhaps if your seals are worn out new ones could be of benefit mate.
Hey brother, Ive got a 2022 LC79 It is currently in Toyota for a repair under warranty. I suspect the throw out bearing in the gear box. Anyway they dropping the gear box to repair Its been 1 week so far. My LC79 has 23,000km on it. So just be aware if you hear a funny noise. It is very faint. But you can hear it. Once you engage the clutch the noise goes away.
Very strange. I just looked at me dual cab and factory its just a U shape and not the same as your factory one how the have that flappy bit that goes inward to caver that gap. So i wouldn’t have that gap with a dual cab. Good review, tho.
Yeah, single cab received updates in 2016, one of which was curtain airbags. All other variants didn't get the updates. I reached out to the mob I bought the seals from and let them know about the differences. I've gone back to the factory seals. Aftermarket seals don't actually make a difference to cab noise I soon realised after making this video.
Sorry for laughing but you were the face of underwhelment. Glad to see even guys with mechanical smarts can get suckered into buying useless crap. The is the answer to a problem that doesn't exist. I just went to the strongest commercial vehicle high pressure washer facility and got someone to spray my door edges while i sat inside...not a drop inside.

Great to know 👍
Great stuff
Wel handled.

This seal is for the non curtin air bag variants. 76, troopy and dual cab. Not the single cab
In the DPF models, the single cab is the only one to have curtin air bags
Roger that, it didn't mention anything on the website about variants.
Wind the windows down and push the top of the window frame in its an old dealer trick to stop wind noise around the window frame

Yeah mate I wouldn't either. I'll definitely modify it, see what I can come up with. No worries at all, thankyou

Does your bro have the 4 banger?
I dont really understand your comment mate.

Did you get. Seal of approval first 😂😂😂😂
I see what you did there, genius! 🤣
You reckon. Just adding window seal from bunnings will help with factory seal?
Good information mate as always.
Thank you
I'm definitely looking into keeping the factory seal and adding something to help. I'd much rather do this. Cheers mate 👍

Keep us posted. Looking to seal this when my car arrives
Thanks mate

I reckon Bunnings sell adhesive round seal about the right diameter that you'd put over factory one, I agree that's not a good look
Just had a squizz online. Maybe the factory seal + adhesive seal. Dunn and whatson sell them pretty cheap
Yeah that might be the go mate hey, cheers I'll sus Dunn out.
I put two sheets of noise dampening in the front doors of my new 78 and it was a dramatic improvement
Really mate? I was never planning doing anything like that, but I've been thinking about it hey 🤔
@@OutbackOffroadNT it’s worth a bit of time and effort you only need to target the big flat areas it so satisfying when you close the doors not having a tinny sound .
Yeah Roger that, I'll look into this I reckon.
I've got an idea for you. Pull the plastic trim off. You won't notice a gap then.
Thanks for the update.
Great idea 🤣 cheers mate
Looks like you have a new 79 I’ve just order a set of these and it states pre 2016 so should be ok on my 2014 model

It is a faint flapping noise. From the gear box. Tht is how I know it is the throw out bearing.
That's interesting mate, sorry to hear that but that's good it's a warranty repair, mine has 30,000km so far.
It's good that The Cruiser Store offered to refund your money back. Let's hope they make one that suits your model soon. 👍
Yeah definitely mate, I'll explain in a video soon a bit more about this.
Very strange. I just looked at me dual cab and factory its just a U shape and not the same as your factory one how the have that flappy bit that goes inward to caver that gap.

That's terrible!
Usually, the blister on the aftermarket pinch weld comes off easily.
Maybe, you could neatly glue it to the Toyota pinch weld.
I'm definitely going to change it, and that is a great idea mate, thanks I'll look into this
Place seal in sunlight, maybe on roof for an hour to heat right up prior to installing. This will make the rubber more malleable! Regards hj75
👌 good idea mate
Mate would it fit over the top of the old seal?
No definitely not, I'll sort something out and be sure to show everybody in an ep
A bit of black scilcon no probs 🤙🤙
Did that heat paint work
Definitely made a difference mate
Sorry for laughing but you were the face of underwhelment.

Maybe the factory seal was meant as a space filler between the metal and the interior plastic. I have to be honest. It looks bad.
Yeah the factory pinch weld seal is a nice finish 👌
That is a horrible gap.
Shits me to tears mate, what a joke. It won't be staying like that I guarantee you!
Hey dude
G'day mate!
Well that’s not very good is it
No, turned out pretty average mate, video coming soon explaining in more detail.
