15:57 I counted 5 frames from shot to impact. Your video is 24fps so 5/24 = .2083 seconds. 100 yards = 300 feet so 300/.2083 = 1440 feet per second, which matches almost perfectly with the advertised speed of a Remington UMC 125gr .357 (1450ft/sec). Not sure why I felt compelled to do that but it was a fun little test.
Just finished mine. Soggy bottom custom cerakote in my garage, and ranger point precision handguard and other various parts... it was the toughest build I've done; but it came out great. Working on a suppressor next. Perfect host. BTW: .357 in this thing feels similar to 9mm PCC, very little; but more than .38 special for sure. Im in Zhills as well. Great build.
Haha saw this review and immediately started searching for the Henry. I was disappointed at how hard they are to find! But luckily I went to a local Sportsman Warehouse yesterday and the guy walked out with the 357 and put it right on the shelf and I bought it right then and there!
No fucking way. I have ordered 3 45/70's it will be bad or good if they all come in at the same time, I will be on gun broker. Just waiting until then.
Great video Adam. Glad you discovered suppressed lever guns. Hopefully Henry and Marlin will up their production now that your video will make everyone want one. My Marlin 1894 CST with a TiRant 45 and cowboy action load .38spl is hands down my family's favorite firearm to shoot. Definitely a great gateway gun to get people interested in and comfortable with shooting firearms.
Basically just built one of these in 22 this week... cool part is that on a tube-fed mag is that you can shoot 22short also. Ran into issues bc the 22 doesnt have a loading gate, and the brass tube needs to clear the can. Easy fix though. Found that the 60gr aguila run almost dead silent and SMACK. Supressed lever actions running subsonic are awesome and tons of fun.
I have one and it's stupid fun to shoot! The thread pitch thing is not a big deal for me because I easily found a Griffin 3 lug for it like yours. Worlds better than my Marlin threaded lever gun (purchased during the Remington decline and had to send it back + painted stock is peeling off). My only complaint is these were previewed with Midwest Industry forends and guess they went with the polymer to keep costs down. Would have preferred to spend more and buy it with either wood (Henry makes beautiful wood furniture) or the MI forend. .357 MAG is no slouch out of long gun, but read it's better to use long gun optimized hunting rounds as the pistol ones are designed for handguns and may expand too quickly on impact shot through a rifle. .357 MAG is not uncomfortable to shoot suppressed without hearing protection (no meter, but sounds a tad louder than hot 9mm which is also not ear popping suppressed). From experience, having a leather twine wrap on the lever makes extended shooting sessions more comfortable. If you do put a wrap or tie around it, make sure to oil the leather or paracord because moisture will get under there.
I tried to find one in 38/357 thinking it would be quieter and cheaper to shoot. Couldn't find it so I ended up with one in .44spl/mag. Still a ton of fun to shoot!
Too funny. My rear sight loosened up and came out of the dovetail on my .44 mag version of this rifle only I didn't have the Allen Wrench to take care of it. Made the rest of the day at the range fun.
A couple of months ago I had a chance to buy one for a good price and almost immediately regretted not buying it. Thankfully, yesterday, a few became available in a big box sporting goods store and I was able to order one for a really good price. They are insanely overpriced on GB and several other places. It's amazing to see what these are selling for........... if you can find one. Can't wait to pick it up. Great job on the video.
@@jakelind500 Great price. I got mine for a few dollars more out the door with a discount at SW. Glad to have it, finally. I went with .357. Congratulations on your great find and best of luck.
I have the Henry Frontier suppressor ready 22 rifle and love shooting it suppressed. Definitely will be getting a Henry 357/38 after watching your video.👍
Dustin Ellerman (Top Shot Dustin) did a review of a Salvo 12 where he shot a full mag tube on the back of his horse. I would be fully in support of suppressed, mounted shooting!
I have the X model in .45 colt because I wanted a rifle chambered the same as my SAA , don’t see a lot on the .45 colt especially suppressed, probably because the ammo is very hard to find and expensive, the gun show only comes twice a year in my area so best believe I’m there , it’s the only place I can find my specialty ammo , .45 colt , 7mm.08 , I even found rat shot in .45 colt , how rare is that ?
I absolutely cannot wait to get one Kinda hope this review doesn’t make them even harder to find than they are Great perfect hunting gun and I think my rex 458 can would be great for it Can we get the new ruger 45/70 lever gun review too? Comes factory threaded
Amazing Video, but I was really hoping that you would have shot a few 357 Magnum rounds through the suppressor to show the sound difference between the two.
5/8 x 24 is way stronger. It really is too bad the common 9mm standard thread is 1/2 x28. That only leaves about 0.050 barrel thickness & if you drop a rifle with the can on... well... you just might need a new barrel.
Are you kidding me? Quiet? That hammer strike is loud as fuck! Seriously, the first shot with the .38 special suppressed, I though you had a malfunction and it didn't fire.
i Got me one of those with a Gem tech GM-9 Can and IT IS STUPID QUIET you can Snap your fingers and it's louder then the gun Hollywood Wishes it was this quiet.
How easy is it to aim suppressed with a standard 1.375" OD can blocking the front sight? Only skinny option I found is the Dead Air Odessa 9 at 1.1", but they claim it's made just for pistols. If I can use a 1.375" can, that widens my choices bigtime.
Need to put a red dot or scope on your rifle. I have the 357, 44, and 3030 I run suppressed. I cast my own bullets and load them subsonic. Need to learn how to reload.
@@tycobb162 I looked and called around every spot in over a 75 mile radius of me and nobody had it. Saw it on MidwayUSA and had to have it. No regrets though.
$950 at my local small (southern Wisconsin) shop...Sept 2024. Surprised it wasn't more this close to the election. They had a Citadel for $550, but I just HAD to have a Henry (built in Rice Lake, WI)!

Sounds like your ammo was out of spec and caused it. I’ve had issues with out of spec case lengths on my Ruger American 300BLK to the point I needed a mallet to open the bolt.

The feeding issues are common with strait wall rounds. Especially with smaller pistol calibers. Slowing down a little is usually all you need to do.

I would like to see what a suppressed 30/30 lever gun would sound like. Since a lot of hunters use the 30/30 and there are a lot of them out there.
Got lucky and I just picked one up today. I’m going to throw on my obsidian 45 suppressor and head out to the desert on my horse.
Love mine! I wish I could get wood to replace the plastic on it though
Doesn't regular big boy furniture fit? Did you call Henry? Give em a call if you haven't, or search around forums if you haven't.
