    You can always put "grippy" covers on the M-lok slot and solve the slipping issue on the MW and there are some amazing ones to choose from (thank you AR15 market). BUT if you have large hands (ie long fingers) I agree the Ranger point seems the best choice

    I have the Midwest Industries hand guard on my Marlin Dark .45-70 as a cosmetic point of difference and now, here in Australia, 2 years later Marlin’s are now being sold by the local distributor with the Midwest guard factory fitted. As a taste maker I may need to update to the Ranger Point Precision hand guard.

    I so wish this video came out a week ago. My Midwest handguard arrives today. I had no idea Ranger Point made a handguard. I own a Marlin 1894 CST .357. My Hoptic quiver arrives Monday. Will the quiver mount on the Ranger Point handguard in the same location and orientation as on the Midwest handguard. Huge fan of you videos! Doing most of the same modifications with exception of the lever and loading gate change outs. Wrapping my lever with a nice black paracord weave and my loading gate is good and I found an alternate solution to make it even better (partially loading empty brass with loading gate held open). I will keep watch! Especially the CST VIDEOS!

    I went with RPP because of their “Costa Rail” system. I can have rails on top that mount to the top of the hand guard, encompassing the entire barrel.

  • @paulthomas2303

    Good overview of the two style. I'd add that the RPP handgaurd is actually 3 separate panels screwed together and I believe the Midwest is a solid piece. Not a deal breaker though, when I received my RPP I had to tighten down the screws, thus got a better panel fitment. Love the RRP, she gets looks at the range for sure!!

      The Marlin 1895 dark that I recently acquired already had a bunch of ranger point precision upgrades on it. It looked good, and felt good, so I bought it. I don't think I would invest the additional money to do it myself though. But I am already like "screw it" and gonna go full tactitard with it now. Put a magpul afg2 on it and it is surprisingly comfortable when manipulating the action. Gonna go and get a reflex sight for it today. 🤷‍♂️

    With Midwest's updated handguard, does that solve the issue of the hot barrel? Now the rail runs the full length of the handguard. The full length rail also attaches to the top of the receiver AND the handguard near the muzzle. So it looks like it should be sturdier than this version.

    Have you done a comparison on their butt stocks? I definitely like the RPP handguard but I'm torn on the butt stocks. I like the built in cheek riser on the MW but I like the adjustability of the RPP. The MW also has the M-loks built in where as the RPP needs the plate purchased separately. Decisions, decisions...

  • @pacanis
    @pacanis 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You make an excellent video. Very informative and great tutorials (removing Henry's forearm). BUT...
    I can see you purposefully NOT wrapping your fingers around the RP like you did with the MI handguard. Just before they are about to go over the top you bend them so they don't. And you are right. Those are some LARGE hands. But I see some wood furniture lever actions in the background on some of your videos, so you must make them work.
    I went MI. I almost ordered a RP handguard, but they would not return my email or voicemail and I wanted to clear something up before placing my order.
    Then I called Midwest Industries. MI's TS and I had a lengthy (too lengthy actually, as I had something else to do) conversation on the telephone about all sorts of stuff. More than I even asked him about. And now that they have those M-LOK panels, you can get yourself that larger grip some people need.
    Love the looks of their new stock, too. Ordered one the day they were released with the shell plate.
    Based on customer service alone, Midwest Industries for the win.
    Now that my Henry is complete I'll be building a R95 using their components in a week or so.
    It's nice to have choices.

    They make these for a variety of companies, including Citadel. I figure, once you put a quiver and a flashlight on the handguard, the coolest thing would be to spend like 100$ on some rail scales, the 4 slot ones, for the bottom of the hand guard and the left side, Instead of just getting a whole new handguard. Citadel only company to start with a M-Lok handguard, Mossberg, that's all I know, i'm sure there's plenty of custom options, those are a lot of money.

    Do you like the 1894 or the 1895 better?

      Tough call. They both have their place and are a ton of fun. If I could only have one though…1894 👍

  • @atox4957

    Why did they chop the pic rail off the top instead of leaving one all the way around?

    • @buildhuntxplore
      @buildhuntxplore  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most likely because it would interfere with the rear sight on the majority of lever action rifles on the market, or any with the XS Sights Lever Rail.

    stil cant wrap your hand around a hot barrel on this, definitely on RPP rayroll

    • @buildhuntxplore
      @buildhuntxplore  ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol I said you can’t wrap it as easily. The cutouts down the side alloy you to lay your thumb in the channel and give a better grip

  • @PhuVet
    @PhuVet ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I am going with the midwest because they have a wrap around style with sights... RPP does not. I tried a mad pig over the weekend with a rpp, it felt fat and goofy. It also didn't have a top rail for my clip on. I refuse to put the strange super long xs rail on it.
    Btw, the originals are round, not square and about the same diameter as the mi.

    you said you did not like that hand guard because you said you would burn your hands on the hot barrel , the gun as you said would be for self defense , how many shots in a self defense are you going to make to burn your hand i will be suppressed if the shoot more than 4 shots , this will not burn your hand .

    • @buildhuntxplore
      @buildhuntxplore  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also shoot it for fun. When you get to about 30/40 shots, it starts getting pretty hot. Additionally, the likely hood of shooting more than 4 shots is very real if more than one person breaks into you home in the middle of the night. It's not uncommon for 3 or 4 people to come in at once, just watch some of the videos online.

    Yea so Im sorry, I have a Ranger Point Precision sight on my H010 3030 and have considered one for my all weather 44 mag....but a tactical leaver gun is about as useful as a switch blade butter knife. It just doesn't belong.

    • @dunno6442
      @dunno6442 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A tactical lever gun is perfect for hunting with a light or for home defence if you don't or can't own an ar, basically the next best thing and better than a bolt action for close hunting, it's pretty handy as an all round farm gun with those quick follow up shots..

    • @Catgat37
      @Catgat37 ปีที่แล้ว

      It might not belong, but sure is cool. The levergun I recently got is already pretty much fully upgraded with rpp products. It is cooler than I could have imagined. I am going to turn it into a cursed gun by adding more tactical stuff. I honestly can't see any real practical use for what I am doing to it...but it looks cool, and I originally bought it as a toy.

  • @urwholefamilydied
    @urwholefamilydied 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    that two round "quiver" seems a little pointless. Again, some zombie apocalypse shit that a lot of gun guys are into... like you'll need absolute speed to get just two more rounds? Necessary enough to have attached to your gun?? LOL. I'd rather have a belt that holds 15 rounds or whatever.

  • @curtisbernard4652
    @curtisbernard4652 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you're not putting a grip on either new hand guard then what is the point of getting them? The quivers are incredibly awkward to use. The RPP square shape is ugly, they both function the same. Went with Midwest myself.
    Really a useless video. Before you trash or praise either brand you should at least through some different toys on there. You couldn't even show a video of you shooting them side by side showing your "grip" issue?

    • @buildhuntxplore
      @buildhuntxplore  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have shot both, I show the grip in the video. Everyone is entitled to an opinion.

  • @marauderhot

    Is this a joke? If you need all of that crap to shoot a lever action then you need to go back into the basement.

    • @buildhuntxplore
      @buildhuntxplore  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      🤣 It’s not NEEDED, but adds to the modularity and allows for a more functional weapon for certain instances. If you can’t see it as being useful in some instances, or just let people do what they want with guns THEY bought, maybe you should stop being such a Karen.
