For the first time last summer, I flew AA "first" class Bradley (CT)- DFW - Portland. I expected the worst but was pleasantly surprised. Good flights! The fare cost me the same as economy on United and Delta! Still, because of the cost, I took advantage of as many "free" beers as I could.

Correct. Longe access on comes on domestic legs with a connection to an international flight with the appropriate class of service and or Oneworld status. If you’re not connecting to an international flight you only get lounge access as paid AAdmirals club member with the exception of JFK to LAX and SFO
as its been said in the comments in this flight report, lounge access wouldn't have been given if it had been a normal domestic flight and IFE was only provided as it was a new American 737 plane. Having watched loads of 1st class domestic flight reports, what you got in terms of service is typical to this type of flight.
@Shane Germany, accurate points. Worth noting though that where IFE isnt an option American has free access to entertainment using your phone, laptop or ipad through wifi....and wifi is free for entertainment only.
There are priority security lines all over the US: TSA pre check! It's the best priority security lane because you keep your jacket and belt on, keep laptops in your bag, and keep your shoes on. There's nothing close to that in Europe.

You have really low expectations haha, you have to keep in mind that a flight from one coast to the other coast of the USA takes 4/5 hours, Whereas most European countries can be flown thrown within an hour. Our domestic flights especially AA has been on point. Well worth paying the premium with the better seat, service and amenities. That’s why I’m AA Plat.

Their lounges are, ironically, also available if you have BAEC Silver or Gold Status. I can fly economy on an AA domestic flight( totally isolated flight not as part of a connecting itinerary) and still get into the Flagship lounges with BA Gold or the Admirals Club with Silver as the status levels comes with those perks and apply across all airlines in the alliance apart from Qatar. I've always thought that US customers get screwed in that way

I was on the new 787 for American Airlines on the way to spain my mom sister and I were all upgraded from economy class to premium economy the meals in the premium economy class were fantastic i had the beef pasta and for dinner is by far the best meal . The fresh fruits and yogurt for breakfast in the morning were perfect a light meal and a delicious cinnamon roll is what i needed
That's probably because there is a self-service bar with alcoholic beverages which they do not monitor. So if you are alone, they are not able to make sure that you don't get your hands on any alcoholic beverages...

I'm flying First short-haul (Palm Springs to DFW on AA then to LHR on BA) this Saturday. Given COVID has forced airlines to make changes to service, I won't expect certain amenities you received on this flight, but I still hope it will be a good flight.

This is why I fly American Airlines. They’re usually very consistent especially in business class. I’ve never had a bad meal on an American flight! Great review David!👍✈️
Ehh I disagree. Depending on where you fly from and to, meals can vary significantly. A few flights I've taken, they gave us cereal for breakfast (no other option).
American is truthfully a hit or miss experience. The food can be absolutely amazing or plainly terrible. The inconsistency of seats (Oasis, No IFE, or IFE) doesn't help.
6th time this year with American ...Amazing service. They have brand new planes ..excellent crew from ground to air.....Every time I landed early at final destination . American Airlines..excellent job 🥂

Many US domestic flights don't even offer First Class/Business Class, but this one seemed to provide that experience well. No doubt at a cost, but at least it was an option.
I really love this video! Why? Other TH-camrs only look for things to complain on for example things like “no amenity kit? Other airlines have it on economy class” “No WiFi on my 1 hour Ryanair flight, could be better” “They didn’t let me priority board, my boarding pass showed boarding group 7 but I wanted to try” Meanwhile you are realistic what you can expect on a flight and you rate if it’s fulfilled or not. Please go on with that, I can also learn a lot from you. Thank you for not being like other TH-camrs!
There musn't be any IFE Because Although It's A Boeing 737 800 i never see a Boeing 737 offering a IFE so i expect that the flight will only feature the little overhead screen

American is not a bad airline. It's just going through a lot of changes due to the max being grounded amd its retirement of its md80 and lots of its hubs are being remodeled. They are also slowly going through head staff changes within the company too. A lot of the older crew members, pilots and flight attendants, are also retiring so there's a ton of new inexperienced crew out there especially flight attendants and the overall station agents too. Lots of Trial and error is happening right now cause of a lot of changes from within so it's not so great right now. Lots of hits and misses going on. Trust me I've have had my fair share of bad american flights too and good ones as well. United by far have been the worst for me altogether. Something always go wrong when I'm flying with united compared to american.

I flew American Airlines Twice in the last week on economy . 1) LAX-Charlotte A321-200 and 2) CLT - Nashville BNA Boeing 737 in economy. On both flights there were no meals served On neither did I find outlets nor television screens and I must’ve lucked out with the planes I flew on. I am flying them one last time from Nashville - LAX on a 737 and I will ask to upgrade. By the way , on both of these flights I asked to upgrade and the first one was full , but the second 1 hour flight they wanted me to pay 200$ . Also on the second flight I asked to be switched to an earlier flight and they said I had to pay 75$ per person ALTHOUGH I was booked in a Full Price ticket. God damn it American. The problem with Airlines in America is they’ll find ANY WAY to tell you *NO* However, I paid for the Admirals club access in Charlotte and it was pretty nice, the food on offer was high quality but it does annoy me when airlines offer hot meals for a high price !
Is the hot towel, pre-meal snack and other exceed expectations happened because on this plane the business and the first class is not separated? You'll fly your longer leg on first class, but here AA won't bother separating the business from the first class, so everyone gets hot towel, pre-meal snack, etc?

Since I had an international connecting flight in Business Class from Chicago, lounge acces was included both in Orlando, as well as in Chicago.

With the IFE, you got the updated cabin. The older one (still most planes) you don’t.
Right, the older planes don't even have USB charging ports in "first" class, let alone IFE TVs.
But at least you can access Americans inflight entertainment for free from your ipad, laptop or phone.

Gate Checked I usually don’t fly in the morning. And that’s true if it was cereal I would not like it either.

Unless you have TSA Pre, MCO wants to treat passengers in a very egalitarian manner. So no priority line for business or first class passengers.

United Premier Access at Chicago O'Hare has priority security. I used it when I flew from ORD-PEK. It was soooooo fast.

Those new 737-800s had the IFE which was great but then American decided to take it out on all of them because of course they did.
