Very impressive since Poland regained its independence a little over 100 years ago and spent the first 5 years securing its borders from Germany, Soviet Russia, Czechoslovakia, West-Ukraine, Lithuania and the Entente (which wanted to take away much of its Eastern territory and reduce Poland's access to the sea to an absolute minimum without a proper port forcing the construction of the new port city Gdynia. Poland's historic port, Gdansk was turned into the Free City of Danzig).

Well technically Budapest is their home base too. Aircraft based in BUD are operated and maintained by hungarian ex-Malev crew, and all the safety cards and stuff like that (for example the menu that can be seen in the video) are written in hungarian, not polish. regarding drinks onboard - they used to have 1 or 2 Polish wines (surprisingly good ones) when I flew with them in business but it was on a flight from Warsaw. Your video just confirms what I think about LOT - they're underestimated and I really like their Premium Eco and Business more than the Lufthansa's one - partially because of a small size of cabins which makes things more personalized.
Airline food is prepared on the ground in an enormous kitchen near the airport terminal you’re departing from. Cooking the food isn’t that different from restaurant foods, but there are a few differences. For example, meat is always cooked rare to prevent overcooking when it’s reheated in the Sky, a lot of spices are used (but it’s hard to tell because the pressurized cabin you’re in dulls your sense of taste), and catering issues are one of the main reasons for flight delays. Sometimes the food isn’t delivered to the plane on time, and other times the catering truck has mechanical issues, or there could be security issues with the food...a lot of things can happen!
LOT was one of the earlier customers to have the 787 actually. As for the lack of lounge..I am sorry but that is just utterly unacceptable...they should have arrangements made with another lounge until theirs is open. Heck even Air Kyroyo have a business class lounge
LOT should have told you that their was no lounge access when you checked in and maybe allowed you into another lounge. not every airline decides to install wifi on their planes and its usually not good value.
Polish airlines LOT is one of the oldest airlines in Europe- founded 29th December 1928 and began operations on 1st January 1929. ( the oldest airline ever- KLM started operation in Europe just few years before LOT in 1923 ) btw "LOT "means "FLIGHT" in Polish.
Hey David good to you again this Sunday afternoon..... kudos to the good job that price for a business class is so fucking cheap omg.... can’t wait to try it someday and finally I can’t stop loving the sound of that 787 engine.... simply aviation is simply the best. God bless us all...
I’ve been watching your channel for a while now & always find your reviews practical, thorough and fair, this video was too. One thing of particular interest to me this time was you mentioned your nationality, which I had always assumed to be American or Canadian, given your flight patterns (of those videos I have seen), but there was “something” about your accent that made me wonder. When you were going through airport check-in/security I noticed your passport was red, so couldn’t be the two nationalities I had imagined - then a little later the “mystery” was solved when you mentioned you are Austrian - I would never have guessed you to be that or German from your accent. Anyway, your travel channel is one of 3 or 4 that I watch pretty regularly & enjoy as well as finding they give useful tips & pointers 👍😂
Budapests Eurowings Operation is a mess always. When the boarding is on point, they always need more time and it ends up in horrible waiting. The is also a huge problem with the bagge return, when we had to wait up to an hour. The security check is also very strict and takes ages.
I flew from Chicago via Budapest to Krakow and the reason that you didn't have Polish beer is that Lot is serving flights for Hungary so therefore you have half of crew (not Pilots) are Hungarian and half Polish but since they operate for Hungary they serve their menu not what you would get in Polish flights, and these seats yeah well they operate the very first dreamliner they got ,and even i flew the new one back to chicago seats look the same
It is a political route. Flights from BUD to USA were booked only in 50-60%. The reason for very cheap tickets is that LOT want to show high level of lf on this route. Unfortunately it is not good. They are not intrested in polish regional airports. Only WAW, BUD and KRK :/
18:37 Is it me or does the engine look like it's mounted on rubber. Couldn't tell it it was vibration through the camera etc but the engine cowling definitely looks like it's moving around.
David: I thought earlier you mentioned that you weren't going to check-in any luggage, but while you were checking in, looks like you did check-in one piece! 😊
Glad that you have enjoyed your flight with LOT, as LOT offers in my opinion a tremendous value. I'm in the travel business for a very long time now and was able to try and compare many airlines over the years and LOT is in my top 5 fav.airlines. I believe that they recently upgraded their entertainment system, as it was much better now than the last time I have flown with them 1.5 year ago. I love their business and premium economy class. I have not ever flown in economy with them, but my clients had and no complains. I have recently flown a few times to Asia in premium economy and business class with Cathay and Air Canada and I have to say that LOT has a much more superior product and and a much better value. Last week I was able to enjoy a business class on LOT's brand new Dreamliner and it was great. The food is always great and they do have a very decent wine list. I don't drink beer, but on the Toronto - Warsaw flights they do always carry Zywiec - the famous Polish beer. Thanks for the detailed and honest review. Best regards :)
Well... I read somewhere that LOT is focusing it’s business product for the market they serve. Asia is very well saturated air travel market and is well saturated with high quality products that is why LOT is (as you fantastically proved) doing quite well learning from the best. They still have some issues with punctuality (ie. their flights from/ LHR are never on time and they serve four flights per day when BA only serves two. Anyway... your trip report is sooo different and sooo fresh compared to all the other British, American and Australian trip reporters. I really enjoyed watching your report. Good luck and...Keep them coming.
Fantastic and indeed brutally honest review! 👍👍👍 Regarding the lounge, I am appalled that the check-in staff can't be bothered to explain that the lounge wasn't ready nor did the airline make any effort to explain and offer an alternative. To me, that is absolute rubbish! Whilst awaiting for the lounge to be ready, they should enter into a temporary agreement with the common-user lounge. If they want to stinge on this, the least they could have offered is a food & beverage voucher at one of the F&B outlets within the airport. I am afraid this is one of the reasons why people are coming down hard on LO. Once you foul up in one aspect, people will scrutinise you and demand harder from you. That's life.
I don't expect a whole lot from a flight, but for me it's important to have courtesy from the staff, cleanliness, on time & well priced. I hate to pay for extra for baggage or extra for meals. Of course short commute, I don't expect, but longer hauls, then yes. Food is important, as well as, entertainment. Some airlines are better than others. Good review. Maybe I'll try Lot airline one of these days.
Another great video David! LOT impressed me here as well, was expecting a worse experience. The good all looks perfectly fine, just a shame about the 2-2-2 configuration, let’s hope LOT will install some new seats soon! Regards, Brendan

I have been on LOT 2 times on my travels to asia, and I would rate them as an average/above average airline as it not absolutely not bad, but there are quite a few other airlines I have flown with to asia which are far better, and the really big standout thing with those is a also the price... LOT are expensive compared to many others when using business class, and that was the major dissapointment with them, as there are quite a few airlines with extremely good business class which also have a surprising good cost at that class also.
The informations were super useful. My korean friends will be very happy to know they can travel directly so close to the heart of Europe and directly. LOT indeed doesn't have the greatest reputation but I think if they would try improving their services they can be a top airline in europe. ♡ as always, enjoyed traveling with you.
I really enjoyed watching this video. I find a lot of flight review videos quite nauseating, tending to be over-edited and littered with graphics and stylistic details in place of clear presentation and substance. So, thank you. Your review was very helpful to me because I was considering this flight (going in the other direction) since even the regular business class price is a bit of a steal. As it is, I will fly with Cathay Pacific (ICN to London via Hong Kong) since the 1-2-1 "reverse herring bone" layout on Cathay Pacific is better suited to solo travellers who prefer a window seat without the risk of getting trapped by a sleeping aisle passenger. However, LOT's 2-2-2 layout does, as you note, provide more width for your legs, so it's a question of priorities - legroom versus privacy and easy access to the bathroom. The only other thing I wanted to say is about the beer. Although there was only one offered, be grateful it was Austrian and not Korean 🤐
Great review. I'd like to fly LOT. What an excellent fare! Can you do a Brutally Honest Review of Brussels Airlines Economy Class in Europe please, I'd like your opinion.

Who else loves simply aviation?

i do
I do
When i fly always check the legroom because of him 😂
I like simple aviation too
Bobby Shmurda's Hat It’s like nothing on TH-cam✈️👍

I've just found you in my recommended videos. Excellent airline blogger! New subscriber earned. :)
@@ryox-rk9cg Ummm.... no.
I like this airline a LOT!
I went on LH ORD to FRA in J and based on your report LOT looks much better.
LOT was one of the earlier customers to have the 787 actually.
As for the lack of lounge..I am sorry but that is just utterly unacceptable...they should have arrangements made with another lounge until theirs is open. Heck even Air Kyroyo have a business class lounge
dont complain too much
Did you watched this video? He said they actually had one but he was misinformed if wher it was
Yeah LOT was the first European airline to receive 787's.
śliwska nałęczowska after breakfast is polish, plum covered in dark chocolate. i really miss it living abroad
dsajklfgh I’ve seen Ukrainian copy of it, with a small piece of dried mango inside.
LOT should have told you that their was no lounge access when you checked in and maybe allowed you into another lounge. not every airline decides to install wifi on their planes and its usually not good value.
Didn't you listen? There was a lounge at the Schengen area. Moron
Brutally honest review. Enjoyed all the commentary and the balanced viewpoint.
I cannot get enough of brutally honest videos. 😻
I'm glad you reviewed LOT!
The food looked great. That breakfast looked like you had everything.
Hey David good to you again this Sunday afternoon..... kudos to the good job that price for a business class is so fucking cheap omg.... can’t wait to try it someday and finally I can’t stop loving the sound of that 787 engine.... simply aviation is simply the best. God bless us all...
Love Poland 😍😍🇵🇱
Thank you so much for your kind comment, Bill! Yes, I am Austrian and English is my second language but I’m trying hard to get rid of my accent... :)
Budapests Eurowings Operation is a mess always. When the boarding is on point, they always need more time and it ends up in horrible waiting. The is also a huge problem with the bagge return, when we had to wait up to an hour. The security check is also very strict and takes ages.
I love this serie. Keep it up.
Sat on this exact aircraft from Singapore to Warsaw back in June 2019!
Looks incredible!
was trying to decide to use LOT for redeeming United miles in Business class EWR-CDG. You're video helped me decide to give it a shot!
And Rzeszów!🙂
The only Polish thing you got on that flight was the sweet (candy). Good report thoroughly enjoyed viewing it!
26:54 I LOVE those things!, Can never remember how to pronounce them though
shleevka nowan-chovska something like that lol :D
Śliwka Nałęczowska
18:37 Is it me or does the engine look like it's mounted on rubber. Couldn't tell it it was vibration through the camera etc but the engine cowling definitely looks like it's moving around.
LOT Polish Airlines is a really good choice.
David: I thought earlier you mentioned that you weren't going to check-in any luggage, but while you were checking in, looks like you did check-in one piece! 😊
Are chup raho tumse koi pucha
OMG
@@bgborden6852 you be quiet why such rudeness?
Thanks a LOT! 😃👍
Poland is in Central Europe
LOT has really come a long way since the 1960s Tupolov Russian airplanes!
Poland is not in the eastern europe.
Yep. It is.
Great review as always! Keep up the great work :)
Welcome to Korea 🇰🇷
Hope to watch reports of Korean air,
Asiana airlines and Air Premia.
Fantastic and indeed brutally honest review! 👍👍👍
Regarding the lounge, I am appalled that the check-in staff can't be bothered to explain that the lounge wasn't ready nor did the airline make any effort to explain and offer an alternative.
Ohhh that amazing wing flex❤️
As a Polish I have never flown LOT before, but maybe I should give them a try.
Another great video David! LOT impressed me here as well, was expecting a worse experience. The good all looks perfectly fine, just a shame about the 2-2-2 configuration, let’s hope LOT will install some new seats soon!
Regards,
Brendan

So you like to fly LOT a lot?
worse than RyanAir.
Great video, I enjoyed it.
